2.0/2.01 Easy Downgrader Released! |
Wow, a little over a week ago we saw a "Hello
World" application emerge on all 2.0-2.80 PSP's with the newly discovered and
exploited libtiff vulnerability. In the past week we have seen both a 2.71
downgrader, 2.80/2.81 decrypter, and a new eLoader (v0.9.8), all of which
happened within days of each other!
Today, the Noobz team have released a 2.0/2.01 downgrader that utilizes the new
tiff exploit which allows them the necessary access to complete such a task.
Even though 2.01 was released roughly a year ago, I'm sure there are still
those who may benefit out of this knowing that this is a safe downgrader and
hasn't been reporting any bricks so far.
As always, downgrading always has a risk of bricking your PSP if you fail to
follow the directions properly, so please use this
downgrader at your own risk. So, for those who didn't update to 2.71 to
downgrade, you can successfully downgrade by following these steps as listed in
the readme file -
- First you need eLoader 0.98
or later (get it from www.noobz.eu).
- Install eLoader, and make
sure that it is working for you by loading some nice safe homebrew (e.g.
Squarez).
- Next unzip this downgrader
package onto your memory stick. You should end up with the EBOOT.PBP
file copied to /psp/game/201downgrader/EBOOT.PBP.
- Also copy the v1.5 Update
EBOOT to /psp/game/update/EBOOT.PBP.
- Now run the downgrader via
eLoader. Assuming that your PSP passes the safety checks, you should
be given a menu of options.
- To downgrade, you need to
select the 'set to v1.00' option (the Circle button).
- This will fake your PSP to
version 1.00. Once you've completed the process, you can run the
v1.5 Update EBOOT, directly from your PSP's Game menu.
- Note that when the v1.5
Update is 99% complete, it will display an error message that it has 'failed
- contact Sony customer support, error code FFFFFFFFF'.
- This is OK! Just power
off your PSP, and reboot it. You then get a blue screen, saying
"Press O to reset your settings" in several languages.
Press O, and your PSP reboots again - voila! You now have a v1.5 PSP.
- Note that, before you install
the 1.5 Update, your PSP is still really a v2.0 or v2.01 PSP, but it will
claim to be v1.0. If you've changed your mind about downgrading, you
can choose to rerun the downgrader, and restore your old version number,
with either the Cross or Square button, as appropriate.
- Alternatively, if you changed
your mind about running the downgrader, you can just press Triangle to
exit without changing anything.

woohoo! if i had a 2.01 but still great!!
FIRST COMMENT YEAH!!
why do people brag about first posts instead of posting a relevant post about the article?!
I mean, it's great for people who have ABSOLUTELY NO WAY OF UPGRADING TO 2.6, but some ta-082 people are still stuck here with 2.71s desperately waiting for the new version of the eLoader. :( Please don't forget about us.
Also, sorry if this message comes out with me sounding like a *****, I don't mean to be mean.
more vice city info then new cheat device now this! WOW
More or less useless, but an interesting development. I just upgraded to 2.71 the downgraded personally, but alas.
First comment, this is for 2.5 or 2.6?
It's possible dowgrade for TA-082
I'm Spanish. Sorry for my language.
i really dont see the point in this Downgradeer but ok
#4
It's impossible to downgrade a TA-082 is it not as its not possible to go below firmware 2.00 or something along those lines.
It's great to hear everyone is joining 1.5 PSPs! In the end, Sony will just stop adding security fixes XD
well the 2.0 downgrader is available since some time ago... :)
Still waiting for somthing for the 2.8.................
So is this one step closer towards 2.80 Homebrew?
Why in the world would someone not be able to upgrade to 2.6? More importantly, why is this being released before the TA-082 stuff? Get that e-loader done
I don't know how anyone can label this as useless because the more options we have the better. If someone has a 2.01 Psp, they no longer have to upgrade to 2.6 or 2.7 in order to be able to downgrade to 1.5. Keep up the good work guys :)
i hope so
Yeah Im the first one to have bricked my psp with this downgrader...But I miss my psp so much now...
I made a poem for 2.8 I call it The Day: I cannot wait, till they create, a downgrader, for 2.8. Poor 2.8, its sucking great, which is the reason, i cannot wait. That glorious day, when Noobz crew say, todays the day we all downgrade! The president of sony, crys in his room, with a PSP, running homebrew. He yells out loud, so all can hear, they exploited 2.8, get me a beer.
at least no need to have a downdater folder with 1.5 firmware dump, it's like the mph downgrader with 2.01 compatibility
that poem expresses my fealings too. good job, you should email it to noobz and sony. see what they say.
why even bother a person on 2.01 could have just upgraded to 2.71 and then downgraded. from my eyes there's no need for this app
21: I see what you mean but if you are a 2.01 it would be by far safer by this method.
Thanks #18 Ill submit it to Sony cause im sure Noobz read all the comments here anyway lol. Ill post there reply!
Since this downgrades 2.01 the same way it downgrades 2.00 using MPHs downgrder we could of downgraded this with the GTA Exploit
because u dont need ILLEGAL firmware dumps (in some cases) u can just use a legal update file. making it easier.
read noobz.eu it says gta could'nt do it
Stop asking for a 2.80 downgrader!
If you were too stupid to upgrade, you don't have any rights to ask, just wait
Simple : it already existed, we've found it useful within the team, and it's safer than the higher FW downdaters, mostly because it makes more safety checks, and it's simpler so there's less room for mistake.
Did it take time away from 2.80 work? No. Besides, it's no-one's place to try to dictate what we work on at any given time.
Is it useless? Well, many people like to upgrade to 2.0, then back down to 1.5, after using the downdater. This makes that process a little more user-friendly.
At the end of the day, if it helps someone out, then great. If it doesn't, then that's fine too, it cost close to nothing to produce.

Fanjita is totally right, this thing isn't useless! After I downgraded my 2.71 psp I immediately upgraded it to 2.0. Then I used this tool to return back to 1.5 so I could have a clean firmware, not a 1.50 dump... I know I could just have used the existing mph downgrader, but this tool seemed like a safe thing to use... and it worked perfectly for me!!!
So, thanks for this and much respect for your work!!!
I made this in Photoshop check it out http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e76/Justingraziano/PSPWebpage.jpg
Thanks
i want homebrew on 2.71 with kernel support
if anyones used this yet would you mind telling me how you thought it worked out as in did it seem risky or really easy and safe or just how good it is set up
i didn't see a use for this but i did the same thing as 31 cause it makes sense, fresh firmware install seems to be better than a dump
man whats up with ta-082 users??. isent that more of a brakethrough then 2.0 downdater. i think when that downgrader comes out it will be the best thing done yet. it will be the days of days... buy the way good luck on hacking it. ;P
Did it take time away from 2.80 work? No. Besides, it's no-one's place to try to dictate what we work on at any given time. * please everyone read what he wrote there because alot of people try to dictate programmers and i can see how it would get them frustrated
so let me get this straight this is a downgrader to 2.00 from 2.1.
AND ALSO A 2.6 DOWNGRADER ALREADY EXISTS?
BECAUSE I AHVE 2.6
Yes there is a downgrader for 2.6 and 2.7/2.71 as well! they got the info on it here and on the http://noobz.eu site
I cant wate to dowgrade my psp got 2.8 and ***** all of u *****es who say we r 2 stupid to upgrade u *****s
THanks for listenen hoes
this is only nice for people with 2.01 who don't want to risk the 2.5/2.6 -> 1.5 downgrade i guess.. and even then.. those r safe enough :)
But it's something new to release i guess!
I dont care about ta-082 because i am a psp 1007 holder is there any way to downgrade ..psp 1007..any one who helps will get a big thanks from me. firmware is 2.0
43
LOL
isn't this kinda pointless seeing you can just upgrade to 2.6 then back down to 1.5. i don't really see the point in a 2.1 downgrader...
@44 It's 2.01, also if you read the instructions its easier than 2.5/2.6 downgrader.
I have a Australian (eu) PSP with 2.01 firmware model 1002. But when I attempt to get this to work it comes up with 'Failed to assign flash2 device: 8001000D' . then it automatically switches off my PSP. No sign of bricking but it seems it can't access the Flash :(
no point in it working for 2.0, juz use mph's but a direct 2.01 downgrader is cool
why would u even bother? is doesnt work for TA-082 and non TA082 people could just upgrade to 2.71 and downgrade from there
Again, I don't need this, but nice to finally see a downgrader for 2.01.
hopefully they released a flasher for semi-bricked PSP (ie PSP that can launch homebrew or boot UMDs due to corrupt gameboot firmware)
I had a 1.5 original and my bro had a 2.01 and he was anoyed because i could run homebrew, he didn't want to upgrade and downgrade. This worked perfect. Thanks to all the people thta made this happen for him, and carry on.
i upgraded my 2.6 and downgraded whit 2.71 downdater im going to update it to 2.0 then downgradin it to 1.5 agin
i have psp 2.01 and i try to downgrade, it suck it bricks my psp........fffffffffffuuuu uuuuuuuuuuucccc ccckkkkkkkkkkkk kkk!!!
hi i have the same prob as 46 it says:Failed to assign flash2 device: 8001000D
does anybody has an idea on what to do?
i figured out the Failed to assign flash2 device: 8001000D error you're using the gta exploit to load the eloader. i did this too =___= you're supposed to use the tiff exploit. it even says in the description on noobz.eu that the gta loader doesn't allow enough access to the memory. i can't believe i missed that =___= the instructions for using the tiff exploit are in the readme file that came with the eloader. and once i figured this out i managed to use the downgrader successfully!
