Square Enix finishing up Chrono Cross for PSN, no release date yet

Chrono Cross is ready for a PSN re-release in Japan, but unfortunately the game still doesn't have a release date. This is what Square Enix producer Shinji Hashimoto revealed recently on his Twitter. A release on the US and EU Stores has yet to be confirmed, though.

Hashimoto noted further that making the game work on the handheld gaming device involved clearing a lot of hurdles, but thankfully Sony Computer Entertainment was on hand to give them some help. The producer also shared a video showing the game running on a PSP which you can watch here.

Word of Chrono Cross appearing on Japan's Game Archives first started late last year when the Square Enix Twitter account reached 20,000 followers. It was their way of thanking people, apparently. Fans of the game have been clamoring for it for quite some time. Chrono Cross even ended up as one of the most requested PSOne titles fans would like to see on Game Archives in a Square Enix poll conducted back in April 2010.

I don't know about CC, but a lot of games work or break according to region. I know that the European version of FFVIII doesn't work on the PS3 or the PSP, for one thing. (Unless you use some patches from the internet for popsloader, but stability was still an issue for me)

And yeah, sucks to be a European when FFVIII happens to be your favourite. D:

So what might've worked for your version, might not necessarily work for someone else.

alot of games crash still. even with the converter. i havent gotten Cross to work for any of my psp. i cant wait for this tho. i want to play the game more

Well I made a multi disc eboot, with the US version, but had to use syphon filter 3 game ID.

But you are right Im pretty sure only the US one works, I just thought I made mine different (I know some people don't like trying to make the multi discs eboots work because it takes extra fiddling)

Finish up? finish what up? its done just convert the damn thing , ah they should learn from homebrew like on psp u can jsut convert psone titles for psp... jesh..

Compatibility has always been a bit iffy when it came to that title even with popsloader. The farthest I was able to make it was just after disc 2, after that it's just a method of save converting and transferring. I am interested in what ways they are having to change the game to make it compatible on the PSP.

Yea this game has been teh headache of many an emulator the only glitch free way to play is via a PS1/PS2 or PS3 w/ the orginal discs.
