Square Enix announces Final Fantasy V remakes for PSP, PS3 |

Square Enix has some good news for Final Fantasy fans. They're giving another of the series' past releases a makeover for the PSP and PS3. The game in question is Final Fantasy V, which was first released in Japan on the SNES back in December 1992. The game eventually made it over to North America in 1999 as a PlayStation One release.
The PSP and PS3 remakes are currently in development and don't have a specific release date just yet. They have been cofnirmed for the west, however. Players will get to experience all-new CG cinematic sequences exclusive to the PSN edition, and discover the early days of Final Fantasy gameplay features including the Active Time Battle system, mini quests, magic summoning and much more.
For those who, for one reason or another, have yet to play through FInal Fantasy V, here's the setup for the game's story:
One day, the Tycoon King, upon feeling an irregularity in the air currents, rushed to the Wind Shrine, only to find the Wind Crystal shattering to pieces right before his eyes. In addition to this catastrophe, an enormous meteor had fallen to the ground, causing earthquakes in the surrounding land near Tycoon Castle. Unbeknownst to them, this event is about to bring four people from different walks of life together on a common journey filled with new encounters and many mysteries.

Cheaper to "polish" those really old ones up, usually just with some lame FMV's and a new battle screen, and jerkoff fanboys will buy them again because it has FF in the title.
Facelifting 6,7,8,9 would be a much more in depth and expensive process.
They'll save that until the day when they cant just as easily and more cost effectively keep milking fanboy idiots with these cheapies.

Square know damn well a HUGE amount of people want to see VII (and even VIII/IX) remade in full 3D HD graphics. Square said it would take several years. Maybe if they started doing it when the PS3 came out instead of wasting time on the 2D overhead re-releases it might be done by now!

Just read "asdasdasdiii"'s link from above. They're just releasing the original version on the PSN, they're not even doing anything to it.
What's the betting it will still be cheaper to buy the disc version off of eBay? And I bet they haven't even fixed the bugs from the original PS1 release either.
