We kid you not! Firmware 3.10 decrypted on Day 0! |
Ó
So now that we have the firmware decrypted, on Day 0 no less(!), the main focus now shifts to guys like Dark_AleX, Mathieulh, Booster and the Noobz team who will be responsible for turning this firmware on its head in a few days. Great things are coming, you just wait! Anyways, here's their info in its full glory:
With that out of the way, we can now patiently wait for things like Devhook, a new custom firmware by Dark_AleX and if someone can find and exploit in the firmware, even a downgrader! OK, so the downgrader part is speculation, but I don't think you guys will have to wait long for a new version of Devhook or DAX's CFW.
Anyway, I'll stop talking now. The file has been uploaded and it also contains the source. Start decrypting your firmwares and get ready!

all this sony vs. hax0rs crap is really so stupid.
the thing is: there's no good homebrew out there. besides the helperapps, the emulators, pspradio, and psprhythm there's really nothing that i wouldn' call testin-my-beginners-coding-capabilities-and-unleashing-it-to-the-notsoeager-crowds stuff...
i myself cannot code, but if i could i'd do something thats really good before releasing it...
respect to dedicated coders, both at sony and in the private sector...

We here at SCEJ HQ realized that in order to increase the sales of PSP, we need to enable "Unsigned code" function. Yet we couldn't make it too obvious.
We are currently finalizing our next project to give unsigned coder more blending environment with our original codes. So hopefully with stronger "so-called" co-operation from us with unsigned coders, our psp sales will increase.
Your download link dosen't seem to work because we can't download the 3.10 decrypter. We just dropped by to say hello so we don't intend to register.
Yours sincerely,
On behalf of Sony Programming Division

Remember the big scary thing to worry about with bricking is the inital downgrade (farking scary) and then playing around with flash0.
The upgrader itself is just as safe and stable as the official Sony one, they do the same thing. Just use common sense, ie a fully charged battery and the power cable plugged in. And all modules disabled.
Nothing to be scared of.

I think the real concern is making it personal enough for Sony to actually put forth an effort to stop homebrew.

my 12 year old brothers say that.
if sony wanted to, they would make it to where there was no XMB at all and you would no longer be able to do anything unless a UMD was entered. remember the gameboy? yeah similar to that. sony goes through all this trouble giving you updates after updates so you don't go into your psp and end up bricking it and you diss them? retarded. that's like when you get a car, and they've upgraded the seatbelts and so you cut them off and yell "Chevy, you got PWNED!". they're just trying to save you, so you're not crying to mommy and daddy cause you bricked your psp cause you're a "h4xz0r"
i'm all for homebrew, but don't make it to where sony puts your asses in check. by the way, Great Job Team C+D.

Beyond FF7, though, there were some games that didn't work at all. I don't happen to own any of those at the moment, but I'm sure some people do. I'm wondering if anything has been updated in Sony's emu in this new firmware that might help compatibility.
Reply
will the customizations still be there? or will they get flashed again during the upgrade?
thanks in advance

No PSP in the WORLD will have factory packed 3.10 at this moment.
Only stupid people who accidentally flash their PSP to this new fw would need a downgrader.
Devhook isn't necessary because no game requires it.
Reply
now they just need a few days and its gonna be HOOK and/or OE joyful/wonderful days once again.
THANK YOU everyone that contributed.
Sony is also secretly thanking you guys for keeping the PSP sales high enough not to be left out on the market. PSP although not as great as DS did also enjoy a very successful year of sales.

its gives hackers something to work upon.
then hackers gives us the opportunity to use what sony gave us and still enjoy homebrew programs.
if sony stop updating the psp firmware for example when it was just 2.xx then we wont be able to play PS1 games on the psp EVER. updates are cool but hacked updates are way better. so please sony give us more updates and more psp capabilities (ex any video format playback, or ability to play ps2 games, this is just an example so don't flame this dummy). oh and please stop using the phrase "security update" you are sounding more like microshlt windoes
Reply
I understand every hacker is amazing at doing that and finding exploits and whatnot, but as it goes on, Sony is not trying as hard, they're just doing what they're supposed to do, and continue to patch the exploits, and add new features.
Reply
and about Youtube playable directly playable, homebrew maybe able to remedy this by creating a new homebrew browser capable of showing FLV flash 9, but i think the psp memory will hinder this capability. but dont take my word for it, it can be possible (like location free player) homebrew style. i also want youtube direct on my psp very much!

Ok 3.03 OE-c and homebrew are great but i know that a lot of you are using it for iso loading capability.
Why the PSP sales are going down? because no great games are produced. And why that ? Because game publisher don't wan't to invest million in games that they know will be hacked and distributed for free on the P2P network.
If you love you PSP for it's homebrew capacity, great, then stick to a fw that enable you to play with it and don't upgrade. If you want to play the latest game, upgrade and buy the game.
Soon sony will stop PSP production and you will only have your homebrew to play with...
ok now you sucker that "PWNED" , go for it...

I look forward to see how the PS1 compatibility has been improved. Although all the PS1 games I have tried work perfectly I may come across one that doesn't. I don't really like the final fantasy games so the glitches that others have experienced I haven't seen yet.
I don't think that Sony takes things like this as seriously as most of you think. I don't see them reading this and other PSP websites and saying "oh no they did it again" and then firing the last guy to work on the firmware. Or walking around the office hanging their heads in shame. I'm sure they have more to worry about than this. Because as I see it out of the millions of PSPs that are out there maybe 10% know about homebrew and out of those maybe 10% even bother with ISOs which is what Sony is most bothered by not some emulator or homemade map program or book reader.
Lastly to everyone who says Sony sucks and they should just stop trying. Who the heck do you think made the thing that you are playing all this stuff on? And as far as the updates I like them as long as I can still find a way to use my homebrew. After all with out the updates we would not have PS1 emulation, rss feeds or a web browser. Although I don't use the Internet parts of the PSP they are nice to have for some people.

1. Go to "run" in the start menu.
2. Type in "Location of Popstation" "Name of Game" "SLUS(any five numbers)" "(compression level (1-9))" "Location of PSX image"
3. Here is an example
"D:\PSP\popstati on.exe" "Metal Gear Solid" "SLUS00594" "9" "D:\PSX games\Metal Gear Solid-Disc 1.BIN"
Hope this helped! (if not go to dl.qj.net and look for a different program to convert the PSX games)

2:they add all the FW features
only prob with sony is they will not let you use homebrew on theyre systems which again is actually a smart marketing descision because piracy is so bad these days they cant just give u the option to pirate and expect you not to use it ppl just arent that noble anymore

The hackers find the exploits...and well...exploit them.
And Sony just patches up current exploits.
This seems to have been occurring since the system's launch and will probably continue until it's "death".
I wouldn't really say Sony's dev team sucks at their job...if you really think about it anything can be hacked/cracked/exploited with enough dedication and ingenuity.
