The test downgrader didn't work and resulted in a 0% success rate. This video follows the endeavours of PSPfanboyUK trying Dark_Alex's unfinished downgrader. Of course the result was a bricked PSP, but this video shows just what it would look like using the downgrader test. Take heed of this video warning - attempting to downgrade with unverified programs can be fatal!

Wish I had money just laying around so I could brick psps at will. But unfortunately I'm kinda poor but I juuuust so happen to have a 1.5 so no worries for me. But I think as long as regular kernel access is allowed on 2.5/2.6 then people could just load up GTA then launch IR Shell and then everything would be fine. No need for a difficult downgrader. I was scared enough to do it to my 2.00 when I got it.
But here's to getting kernel access on 2.5/2.6 cheers.

At least we know now that a 2.6 can be bricked, Thats the first step. As I recall that is how we found that 2.0-1.5 downgrader. Just hang in there guys. I have a feeling that a downgrader might be able to come out of this. Keep it up Dark_Alex.

IT WASNT HIS FAULT. go to psp brew, they explain it all. He posted this untested, and he warned people. then some guy SAID he tested it and it worked, so loads of people tested it and got there psp's bricked.

Very bad to release even testcode to the public that not even has the most basic safety checks and looks like quick copy paste job done in 3 minutes.
If you want a real downgrader FINALLY send one of those "established" devs a modchip so they can easily write one using their way more advanced experience/knowledge and perfectly test it prior to releasing it for the public.
It could then be a matter of 1-3 days...

So when I had a downgrader and briked my PSP so I could never finish it nobody cared, but now that a lot of people want to brick their PSPs just to prove a point everybody cares?!? YOU GUYS SUCK! I worked on a downgrader for a while and Almost finished it. It went all the way to 99% and then died for an unknow reason, and they get almost halfway NOWHERE and everybody cares just because everybody can brick their PSPs at will. That's a load of $#!+

Untill someone posts a video similar to this but with a clear shot of the firmware version I don't believe for a second ANYONE has sucessfully downgraded yet. People are stupid and enjoy lieing, this is the problem, and people enjoy seeing other people's sh1t break because they have no lives. If you claim you have sucessfully upgraded, take me up on my offer I dare you, make ME look like a fool, and post a video successfully downgrading. You can't and you won't because it isn't possible. Anyway, I don't have a clue whether a downgrade is possible. BUT, if we have kernal access, why should we downgrade? There might be a flashing mod, which will flash some firmware files to allow homebrew to load via the main menu. That's the only problem I can see with 2.5/2.6, you need GTA for homebrew (Which can be a pain).
That's a possible idea, but I can see an influx of PSP Viruses coming again, because of this newly discovered kernal access.
I didn't copy that offsite link from anywhere. It was willingly posted by the original author on to our forums. Seriously chill out, I was just showing a story (which had the proper sourcing to begin with). I found it an interesting read and it wasn't an attempt to spam your comments (a change from what's usually found on these comment pages). Next time I'll make sure to never point out anything from anywhere outside QJ.

You do realize this was a video of someone bricking their PSP's and not downgrading ;)
I made this video and posted it pretty much hours after the release of the downgrader. No one knew at the time it was incomplete and would brick the PSP, this only came to light after someone like me was willing to try it out.
I did not post this video to proove something, or to discredit someones work, i posted this video so people would see that it does not work and the consequences of giving it a go. Only if the internet or the sources were smaller you would have seen the vid alot sooner and alot less people would have bricked their psp. I only use one specific forum on most occasions.
Now for all those racist people out there. Firstly the PSP Homebrew phenomenon is global and we should all work together and help in any way we can. We (I hope) see ourselves as a community, and if we work together, no matter what race, what background, your wealth, etc will achieve better results and more success and probably at a quicker pace.
And now my crooked toned down voice, it was 3am in the UK, i dont have the best english in the world, but i have the best grades to show that it does not matter, that if you put the effort you can do anything.

omg, i freaking wish i didnt update to 2.70 cuz 1st, the flash video is usually choppy,2nd, its outdated so no, youtube,3rd sometimes doesnt play audio, and 4th, it saves the cache to a limit of 2MB on the flash when sony could be less dumber to save it on ms or at least an option.. plze i hope theres a 2.71 downgrader *_*
