*Update* Firmware 3.70 on the loose for both PSP 1000, 2000 types |

Although it hasn't been released in the most official of channels (be it the ol' reliable PlayStation downloads), shun goku satsu, moderator of the Official PlayStation Portable forums, has begun a discussion of future firmware updates for the PlayStation Portable. Lo and behold, for within the introductory post, the moderator slapped on Firmware 3.70 - a software update for the North American iteration of the PSP-1001 (as specified).
Find it hard to believe? If it feels like a huge Venetian rug has been pulled right from under you, we know how you feel. Moderator shun goku satsu, though, has enforced his post with a complete changelog for the "future" firmware update:
- You can now set custom themes in [Theme Settings] under [Settings].
- Support has been added for assigning buttons in [Remote Play].
- A scene search feature has been added under [Video].
- Sequential playback is now supported under [Video].
- Simultaneous playback of content under [Music] and [Photo] is now supported.

Our trusty research team has just informed us that an official changelog has been made available on the Japanese PlayStation website. The information given is functionally similar to the stuff we've posted above though, although there is one main exception we've got to note.
Contrary to the information above though, the 3.70 is meant for both the PSP 1000 series and the PSP 2000 series, so whether you're using a "Fat" or a "Slim" - Type PSP, there are new features there for users. Here's the additional information for you:
Network
- (Remote play) [the button to allot to the menu] it added.
- 1000 series: PSP "of Portable TV" (R) "[pureisuteshiyon] portable" for attendant upon the end of image download service, the P-TV idea contest was deleted. Details this (http://www.p-tv.jp/) viewing.
- 2000 series: [It corresponded to data broadcast with [wansegu]].
- 2000 series: Even in the television which does not correspond to progressive image output system, when viewing [wansegu] broadcast, it reached the point where the picture can be output.
- It can output to just the television which corresponds to progressive image output system with state when purchasing.
- It reached the point where it can play back the animated picture which is retained in the memory stick duo continually.
- Using “VAIO Mobile TV Ver.5.0,” it reached the point where it can play back the animated picture file of [wansegu] which is retained in the memory stick duo.

This update is also available for European PSPs, just use the Network Update functionality. I installed it on my PSP Phat this morning. Even though theme customization is now officially included the only theme available is the default theme. Maybe more are coming some time later? Button mapping in Remote Play means that there are two different button layouts available: the standard PSP layout and "extended" layout where L3/R3, right analog stick and so on are used using Select + some button. Anyway, Lair should be now fully playable through Remote Play. :)

i downloaded it from network update on my 3.40 OE (no region hack) and it's a EU (PSP-1004)(Netherlands) PSP and it updated sucsesfully (and downgraded back with pandora) :D:D

That was a quick update. for the fat, past 360 straigh to 370. will wait to see if it really is pandorable.

That's exactly the question I was going to ask. Since they too must be able to repair bricked PSP's it's a little far fetched to think the could prevent Pandora (other than messing with IPL stuff, but that's just a small speedbump when m33 drives a Bigfoot Truck over it :P)

FINALLY MUSIC AND PHOTO SIMULTANEOUSLY.. should have been like this from the beginning... NOW they need to fix the "disconnect" when going from internet browser to RSS it disconnects you from the internet and you have to reconnect... annoying!!
In the article it mentions that there is an option to add on custom themes to the firmware? I'm just wondering how to do it.
Hope M33 customize this firmware because I like all the features it has. Go for it M33!!! We're all counting on you!!! :-)

i dont know if this would help much to you theme fanatics. but i did some boring quick research and i found some editors for ptf... http://www.vicman.net/downloads/dir/UniView/7445.html it seems like alot of you dont think about searching for the avantages of theme editing. so use google and search ptf "fool" pspupdates rules...

there hasn't been a firmware update worth getting since 3.00
i think its a little more than ipl. a firmware update will never be able to stop pandora. the only way i could think would be to reflash the ROM in the psp or something (if it has one) but with the 1000's discontinuation i see that unlikely. perhaps sony will modify the 2000 to use a different method of repairing.
they're trying to lure people away from using cfw although i do admit the themes look pretty cool. anyways im hoping m33 will roll out 3.70 m33 soon. i have my faith in you guys!

sony is just copying custom firmware and homebrew creators with some of the features.
come on sony... you know better than this sony = dumb$hits, homebrew allows for so much more - why turn it down?! go nintendo for that homebrew on the wii thing. and m33, please please release a cfw. i know this is a lot to ask, but wow, you guys would be heroes if you did that :)

Sony is not creative at all...hmm lets think about this...a music prx allows simultaneous play back of music and photos...And we have custom themes already -_- wow...i wounder wut they will think of next...most likely a stolen idea T_T...anyways...at least with this you can increase your caching size for the browser...meaning larger flash file playback...and larger web pages to load...so yes an M33 CFW would be good but just for that +/

the custum theme is one of the things I used homebrew... and now you can do it without it... just waiting for the software... the audio and photo thing is cool but I will not use it... they needed to do it since the beginning... now... a video fan like me... the Scene Search it's the best thing they did... I love that feature really... about the remote play thing I never use it.. if u can't use it like the location free that u can turn on the PS3 on the go then how? Letting it on always in remote play? no thanks... but maybe they will do it later

3.70 M33, HERE WE COME! Looks like Sony has been listening to us. Kudos to Sony. Wow...Best game corporation in the world when it comes to pleasing it's consumers.
What are you smoking? Not everyone uses CFW or can even get to it, so this is good news. It's great that Sony is listening to us. How is Sony stealing ideas anyway? Sony even admitted that CFW creators ACTIVELY go in and TALK to Sony themselves!
Idiot. Homebrew would allow for piracy. I use CFW but I'm not a pirate. I support both OFW and CFW. Homebrew on the nintendo is most likely gonna suck balls, so meh.
can someone clarify this for me. in the new firmware 3.70, are you supposed to be able to have access to the playstation store from any where or only at the download spots?
