I'm looking forward to the release, no question, but these are all great points they present. So many people take this stuff for granted, CFWs don't grow on trees people, it takes days and nights of constant coding and hard work. M33 doesn't HAVE to do this for the millions of PSP owners in the world, half of which who don't even say one word of thanks. If it takes a stunt like this to get some appreciation out of the PSP Scene, then I am all for it. Great work M33. ^_^

Can a 3.71 Slim be pandora cracked to M33's CFW 3.60? If not, why? I have a friend that broke the cardinal rule as soon as he got his Slim home, he updated to Official 3.71 FW. I didn't give him much greef for it since he's new to the whole PSP thing but I wondered it Pandora would still work in his case. I haven't seen anything posted saying that it couldn't be done, just figured I'd ask.

3.60 m33 is not an actual full firmware install but just modifies the already existing 3.60 firmware on the slim. so you cannot downgrade the slim with pandora...for now. it seems since we have kernel and flash access to the slim it wont be long until one is made.

Isnt it kind of wierd that when M33 says they are having trouble with developing 3.71 M33, AOP says that they are "retiring" for a little bit, due to "coding" problems? Its pretty obvious they are hijacking the M33 firmware, because I have looked at what they are adding and it is nothing really to brag about. And they announced they were making 3.52 AOP when 3.70 firmware was allready out! Why the hell wouldnt they just develop 3.71 AOP? But all in all its M33's firmware and they should release whenever they so please.

This is nothing but typical internet drama. They trusted the wrong people and code got leaked; so what? ***** happens. A code leak for something like this isn't exactly the end of the world anyway. It's not like they have stockholders going into a panic because of it. So instead of sucking it up and being smarter about how they manage their work, they decide to punish the whole scene for the actions of a few people. Brilliant. On the upside, this is a golden opportunity for other developers to jump in and produce their own 3.71 custom firmware. I would find it utterly hilarious if someone else came along and released a quality 3.71 CFW while Team M33 is standing around saying "We won't let you play with our toys."

I thank M33 for their work but delaying the release of custom firmware isn't going to solve anything. Once this custom firmware is released, piraters are still going to download games. There's nothing you can do about it. The individual person just has to make the moral decision. Should you download this game for free even though developers spent long hours for years to create this game. And don't just say I'm only one person it won't make a difference. Imagine four million thought the same as you, the company would go broke. You see, I could have just easily downloaded Daxter but no, it was wrong. This game got great reviews and they worked hard on this game so I bought it.

Whether they release it now or later, what does it matter to you? We have nothing in the US or Europe that requires anything higher than 3.51 to play! Team m33

First off, I don't hate Team M33, they do seem to have some talent. I do think they are rather arrogant in thinking they are the only ones who can and should be able to release firmware. It doesn't matter how much work someone else put into CFW, they are always going to call any competition noobs and thieves. Secondly, this isn't their code, so quit calling it there code. It is Sony's code. Given a PSP with no firmware base, and all the proper hardware documentation I can guarantee they would never be able to come up with firmware that would properly run everything that can be run on PSP hardware. Not to mention, the firmware they have been making is all based off source code from Dark_Alex,without that, they would be no where,and without that,they wouldn't even have known where to begin with FW 3.60. My point is, anyone that has the know how and the ability to decrypt and modify Sony FW should be able to do as they please, it isn't up to Team m33. They aren't the creators, or the gods of PSP CFW and they are only degrading the PSP home brew community as a whole with their arrogant attitudes. Look at how the community was then, and look at it now, all the negativity isn't a coincidence. If anythig they should be supporting all the other devs that are willing to take the dive into this downward spiral of a community. They haven't created a damn thing, only improved on it and took it to the next step. The funniest part about it is them whining about people stealing from them, when they have been doing the same thing all along. i donated to them when they came out with 3.52m33 and im not even an 3.52m33 user. I was just glad to see that someone stepped up to the plate to take over where DAX left off. and when they release their next FREE cfw, im going to donate again.. they are doing a great thing in the homebrew scene and deserve more then just props.

ok. the only reason I regret donating, is because I didn't expect them to do something like this. Make a custom firmware but then wait on the release for insignificant reasons. I like their firmware, that's why I have it and why I donate, and how I'm upset they're not releasing their new one, And I don't hate them, never said I did. So your comment was completely irrelevant. And I don't have a slim, so it doesn't matter to me if they make cfw for slim or not.

anyway, yeah, It's not unexpected for some people to be a little upset about their decision. I'm not bashing m33, I think they're time and effort put into their work is amazing and praiseworthy. I'm just glad it wasn't a unanimous decision and that 2 people from m33 still had more sense. They shouldn't have even told us they were finished with it and should have just waited and released it when they were done acting like how they are.

They spend the time doing all the work while we sit back and benefit from it. If they choose not to release it its their business. Their code was stolen and posted on the Internet. There is no reason for other scene sites to attack those who are doing everyone a favor just so they can get hits to their crappy website.

Sony created the firmware, DAX reversed it and made his own, you think that Sonycouldn't have reversed the code at this point? NO, you think that Sony needed someone to leak it before they could take a look at it. Sony isn't that stupid. If M33 and Wildcard could reverse it, so could Sony too.

People are so goddamn greedy and stuff that they cannot wait for a couple of days to get it, they have to get it now. People, I am sure a few of you guys have at some point of your life heard of thing called "patience". Most of you guys don't have anything like that, but complaining just because these guys want to take a short break ain't gonna make it any faster. Besides, we all need breaks sometimes, and now is the best time to take a bit of own time since after they release the CFW they will have to keep an eye on if someone finds bugs etc. and make updates for it. It's gonna come out sooner or later, don't worry :)

Been running my 3.40 OE-A since inception and have yet to find a reason to upgrade. So we'll wait a while, it'll get released and we'll pick up right where we left off. People will still try to steal from those who develop stuff for free and all your other gripes will still exist. You're teaching anyone "a lesson", nobody gives a *****. Human nature is human nature. If you spent less time trying to change the nature of the human race and more time on doing what you enjoy for your own reasons (whatever they may be), you'll probably find your life is much more enjoyable and stress free. It's an amazing accomplishment what you have achieved, yes, nobody can take that away, but you're starting to believe your own press and that just makes you the same as those you're pointing the finger at. Eventually you'll just be shoved aside by some new team who can provide the same things MINUS all the soap opera bull*****. Starting to feel you're irreplaceable is a slippery slope. Don't think for a second all the ass kissing and singing of your accolades would continue if another team popped up and went about the business of supplying what people want. I have to agree entirely with you. The reality here is that we've got people who think they can "teach the scene a lesson" as if developing a custom firmware makes them morally superior to everyone else. Personally, I'm quite mad about the tone of their article, that self-superiority that makes them feel they can "punish" people with PSPs. This is a case of the bullied kid coming to the playground, as you say, "We won't let you play with our toys" and then playing alone in the sandbox... Leave 'em be...

I do think about the people that give away things for free everyday. It is called they say million+ developers in the open source community, and I am one of them. Most of us do so, without being arrogant, without a god complex, without thinking we are irreplaceable. We allow others in this community to help us, we allow others in this community to modify our code, without calling them thieves. We learn from each other and together we help the community grow to something very positive. We don't bad mouth competition, nor do we throw a hissy fit because someone modified code we used, but didn't originally create. I could understand "***** the rest" attitude if Team m33 were an actual company trying to make money, but they aren't. No one is hurting their business, they are only hurting their selves. BTW, I am happy with the fact that I use my own custom firmware 3.52 based originally on 3.40OE. I will proudly admit I am using code without Team M33's approval, and the only reason I do not post it, is because I have better things in life then to be harassed by a Team(M33) of basically, while advanced script kiddies, still script kiddies none the less. So my friends and I will go enjoy CFW without all the bull***** antics.

I'm just going to agree with snakeboy, this is complete hippocracy that they would make this release actually anticipated. I really get on here from day to day but i'm not going to cut my wrists or give out money for something that really is illegal. I'm happy to sit and wait until they decide to release it, and hell, I may not even upgrade to it. I'll probably be like, "meh," and skip over it. That's pretty much the way I feel about it.

...are right IMO. You should donate out of appreciation for work that someone (or group) has done and not for what you expect them to do. Ahman "retired" from IR Shell development not too long after I donated to him and I, while sad to see him go, totally understood. I was not the slightest bit upset at him and "I shouldn't have donated" never crossed my mind. If you want to demand work from anyone including a homebrew developer then you should contract/hire them for a specific task. There is no other case when/where anyone should be complaining about work either not being done or not being released for your use. Grow up. Great work M33. Release it if and when you feel like it.
