Just to say that those photos up there are from someone updating from some old version to 2.71, so all those new features in those photos are not only from 2.71, but also from 2.70 and maybe from 2.60 aswell.

If sony upgraded so soon and only a tiny update, that must mean that they found a flaw in 2.70. Now if we could find that

flaw.

Another update with all new useless features! Still no descent flash support? Still no full resolution video player? No chat function or anything else showing any innovation at all? I don't see why anybody would update.

I doubt there's an exploitable flaw in 2.7 - I think we'd know about it before Sony did.

It is strange though. I thought you could download games already with 2.7 - wasn't that the whole point of 2.7? Probably just a bug related to using authorized downloads from the new download store.

I have 2.7 and most of the stuff in this new upgrade my 2.7 already has, and i don't really see the point of upgrading for a stupid jap demo and a few fixes that don't even effect my model.....

» just updated

Well, got my white PSP with 2.01 so i have updated to 2.5, 2.6,2.7 and now 2.71

The game kazou is a sudoku-type game.

I hate sodokus, so not a real reason to upgrade i am afraid :)

But all you "i will never upgrade" people, not everybody got a 1.5 or 2.0 psp, so stfu please. I would also not upgrade if i had a 2.0 or below, but there's no other way.

Also I got from 2.6 to 2.7 for my own good. I had to wait for GTA to boot up everytime i wanted to play FF VI, which crashed all the time, or the PSPlayerMT, anyway. Playing Monster Hunter or Tales of eternia beats playing FF VI at chuggy framerates, sorry.

One last thing: If there was to be a metal gear solid psp demo, or FF VII playble demo, then all you losers would upgrade.

I don't understand why the hackers keep doing so much for you, because you'd screw them the very instant you think you'll get something better!

» 2.71 upgrade

This release was too fast, just nearly next to the 2.70 release. Why? We don't know... a exploit? just to had some new functionalities ? Rumors.....

But now with the "download games to Memory Stick" option, most probably SONY will launch more demos... and if they launch some really cool demo of an antecipated game, like FF VII, MGS Portable Ops., Lumines II, etc... it could be a blast! But for now, I think I'll stick with my 2.01 ;)

2.7 is availble for the US people now too via System Update.

It states we can download demos to our psp on the memory stick via Web Browser. *Doesn't do us much good though unless Sony is planning on some English games*

AND something about a correction with Location Free Player.

So this update pretty much blows.

Thanks Sony.

by Sim - 2006-06-01 02:30
» Europe up and running

I have downloaded, installed and used my new 2.71 update. There is little to comment on right now as this is such a tiny update butif you have a 2.7 firmware, then there is no point in holding back I took the risk from 2.7 and i have no regrets what so ever. Everything on your psp will work on this update. So there is no reason why not to upgrade.

And a message to you other firmware people, there is getting more reason to update and this will especially become greater when there are english games to download!!

p.s.If you have a psp 2.70 or 2.71 and you want workable homebrew portals, why not download the following:

Most recent; Media Centre PSP: www.kinkymedia.net/mcp

XIS: www.pspcave.com Click on downloads, portals and you will find it there. There are plenty of others there too, some good and some bad and alot of them out of date. (old versions)

by FreakShow! - 2006-06-01 02:34
» Erm....Am I just being stupid?

I thought that there was already homebrew on 2.7? Or am I confusing that with demo downloads or something.

I think that anyone updating now (therfore loosing homebrew) are a bit stupid, they should wait for v3 see what the PS1 emulator is like and how it fits in with the PS3 life etc.

UK update available for 2.71, downloaded + deleted

ok I found a way to disguise any kind of file or folder into a RSS , first take something like the downgrader and upload it through ripway and it will turn to a html , then go to http://www.wotzwot.com/rssxl.php and tunr the HTML to an RSS and the downgrader is bound to work on the psp , any 2.7 owner willing to try this I'm 95% sure it's bound to work.

But if they expected someone to do this theres a chance it will say that it cannot be loaded , if not then the downgrader should work with the sane probability of sucess it worked for 1.5.

Considering Sony doesn't give out firmwares until about a week after Japan there has to be a problem. When is the last time Sony got a firmware out to all territories in a single day? Oh wait, never. I upgraded to 2.7 because I got rid of GTA and didn't care for it, but I think I'll wait and see what happens with this and why there is such a fast update. It may be possible the update is just helping people download PSP demos directly to PSP without ever having to connect to a PC. But its simply so quick something must be wrong.

» yay : )

I really love firmware updates : ) it makes me so happy when i go network update and it says theres a newer version lol, even if there is nothing really ( like this one) new but i still love it. anyway i insatalled it and i downloaded the new demo, it would be cool, if i knew how to play it lol and i gotta guess through the menu cuz i'm not japanese. But i'll say this, loco roco is the *****, i'm gonna buy it when it comes out, its as good as lumines ;P k well i cant wait for the next update hopefully its 3.0 with some bomb diggity shiz p.s. homebrew is gay...go take ur sega and nintendo's out of ur old box and blow the dust off and use it...come on use ur psp the way its meant to be used losers. much love -arash

theres a gif overflow too? i considered trying a png overflow that might work but b4 that i need sum1 w/2.7 WHO KNOWS WHAT THEYRE DOING to first install the tiff overflow then to take the tif file rename it like you need to and set it as a thumb for an mp3 file. the reason behind this is that sony added a function to 2.7 tht they never talked about its the ability to add thumbnails more easily to an mp3 file

i wont be back on later today so metalspecter drop me an e-mail cause all i have is a 2.6 and my friends 2.7 to test on.

» stop attacking homebrew

arash you like sonys games right? well look at it this way everyone starts some where and believe it or not game designers start out as just moding games then they move to homebrew and then finaly get to thier goal in life and become a gamedesigner. by attacking homebrew your also attacking the future of the gameing world im not here to argue im just warning you

by hackerelite - 2006-06-01 22:11
» response to frankie

tht worked on 2.7 already and to make anything run like them you would need sum1 inside sony to release theier signing software

» Download but to the wrong folder

I upgraded and went to download the Kazuo game, but the EBOOT file is required to be stored in a specific folder.

However, when you save to PSP you don't get the option of changing the folder to save to.

What's the point it you can't download via PSP browser then immediately play?

get a life...if you want to be a game designer then go to school...your right people do start somewhere, in school dumbass.. dont get me wrong i like seeing u guys release all this new stuff, but none of them have been worth getting...i started off with a 1.5 but then a web browser was released...a freeking real one that doesnt freeze every 2 seconds and then i have to hold my power button to turn off my psp but it wont turn off so i have to take out the battery...come on get a life seriously. If something good was released then i wouldnt have upgraded but till this day...i see nothing.

plz ban #117 , his trying to corrupt the "I prefer playing fun homebrew , emulator and have good apps on my psp for free and not listenning to sony cause they are greedy" minds of most of us , and he is being to much of a "I"m a big mouth kinda person who likes defending corporate masses and bring stupid arguments against people who do not serve the big corporata masses because they think different than me" kinda person. Another thing is lol , Arash , as in "a" painful "rash" to most of us? Anyways anyone who know alot about flash actionscript can make a copy of the codes os the downgrader in flash actionscrip? don't know if it's possible though but anyone who codes and knows about flash actionsrcipt could try.
