Sony releases official PSP Firmware 4.00 |
Ó
Sony ushered in the next update to the PlayStation Portable, and if you haven't already checked, you'd find that you've been prompted to update to the spanking brand new PSP firmware 4.00. Now while it's a major step up in revision number, the update seems a little too conservative.
Aside from getting a new Internet search feature, media buffs on the PSP will also get the option of slowing down or speeding up playback of movies. According to the official changelog, you'll be able to do so by using the up and down buttons on the D-pad.
That's about it for now. We're still updating our own handhelds, so we haven't tested these features out yet. Stay tuned for more updates.

And the playback speed adjuster maybe part of a lot of video playback feature's. Maybe it's for stuff like youtube. Acutally that they implent google search in the xmb + the playback speed adjuster = future support for youtube?

See they aren't making much money off the units anymore due to CFW. I don't have any defense in regards to Sony, but basically they aren't going to bother adding features that they won't make big money off of.
Look at it this way, I'll bet you Google payed up Sony to have it in their XMB. It's all advertising. They released this so that Google can be even more known.
The problem too is they've really fu

The problem here is that Sony can't put the things we like because it would appear to game devs as them being abandoned. CFW is an issue to game devs and having their games played while not bought is trouble for them. To add insult to injury, if Sony packs the PSP with more delights then it would make it appear that they are just concerned with their hardware and not with the games anymore.
Sony doesn't want that because they expected the PSP to have a few more years in the market so what they do is put some reservations in the release of firmwares and hope that some game devs might still want to make games on the PSP.

But seriously, if Team M33 decides to release 4.00 M33, with some custom firmware additions (not any google search crap) then I'm definitely updating.
And of course we'll get customizable PS1 button configs.

But really, i agree with most of you, Sony really did a lame job in the 4.0 update...

Maybe, if you paid for the upgrades, you would have room to complain. Maybe, if you bought the PSP with promises of a certain thing, you would have room to complain. Maybe, if Sony had an obligation to provide these updates for you, you would have room to complain. Maybe, if Sony hadn't given you a plethora of new features already, you would have room to complain.
But you don't have to pay for updates. You don't buy the PSP with promises of a certain, unreleased feature. Sony has no obligation to provide these to you. Sony has given you copious amounts of upgrades in the past.
I personally like the update, as it allows me to save time. I use the PSP browser a lot. I don't have a search engine as my homepage. This cuts 30 seconds from me searching for something off the net. Can't wait for somebody (c'mon Gen, you can do it!) to turn this into cfw XD

if you studied business, the term for that is user technical support or after-sales service. i guess your still uncircumcised for that matter.
and if you have read the fineprints included in the box of your psp (which i guess you have not, being the child that you are) you would have seen evidences of free updates.
sony is bound to give users these added features for free or we have paid extra bucks for the extra flash memory in the psp which will not be used in the first place. remember sony reserved those for further plans...

They're not. Shut up.

For the past few months the PSP has gotten less than a handful of good games...it's pretty sad actually... and now my PSP just collects dust...
Most of the things it does can be done better on something else... I just wish Sony would have maximized its capabilities. For music and video, I use my iPod, and for internet, my computer...for games...I don't play my PSP...and why would I without many good games?

did sony say anything about what kind of flashplayer it is?

Do you need a specific file for the subtitles to work? If it works, can someone tell me how?
