Sony ramps up PSP firmware: now at 3.93 *UPDATED* |
Ó

If the last firmware update for the PlayStation 3 didn't excite you much, this probably won't either. Sony's latest firmware update for the PlayStation Portable is just a few notches above official firmware 3.90, and the new PSP firmware 3.93 probably won't stand out significantly when compared to earlier major updates.
What we've gathered from our sources and from lurking around the Internet is that the new firmware does add a few improvements for supporting additional PlayStation titles - at least for the North American side.
And while we're still looking for European specific updates, the Japanese update grabs that single PlayStation support update from the NA version and has its sights locked on the new Skype features. Thus, the update adds support for them, though only for PSP-2000s or PSP Slim & Lites.
Thanks to zakir and Noreen S. for the tip!

UPDATE: Sony's authority on the PSP, John Koller, just posted on the official PlayStation blogs that there's a little more to the PSP firmware 3.93 update.
In fact, aside from the improvements to support PlayStation Network titles, Koller says that users who toy around with their PSP Internet Radio feature are bound to find at least 20 new Internet radio players for their perusal.
More updates as we come across them. Keep your eyes peeled.

There have been more firmware updates to the PS1 emulator, than there are PS1 games to play on PSP...
So true.
it is just trying to catch up to popsloader.
It adds 20 extra internet radio players. http://blog.us.playstation.com/2008/03/17/new-internet-radio-stations-and-firmware-coming-to-psp/
yay im so psyched to upgrade my 3.8 cfw to official fw JUSt for new internet radio channels :p
>are bound to find at least 20 new Internet radio players (or does he mean channels?) No he means radio players. The icons point to radio playing "software". Each different one contains the entire radio player code, and is programmed to tune to a different station.
You know what I noticed with my Slim and my Fat. My Slim can find many more radio stations than my Fat. They're both on 3.90 M33-2. For example, when I try to see Metal channels, my Fat finds only one, but my Slim finds at least 9 channels.
and by the way, you can add the new players to 3.90 M33 firmware also! So no need to update ;)
Not to a different station, a different genre ;) Just try square with analog up.
updated ps3 still works with remote play, without updating psp to this firmware. No need updating to this.
since there aint been an update for ages i thought they were gonna release ofw 4.00. looks like ill have to wait :-(
ok im on OFW 3.90 i actidently updated to it when i wanted to install the damm M33, i never had custom firmware so now im hoping someone comes out wit a fking CFW 3.93
Negative.
i love how this article doesn't even include the update changelog, instead they give u a link to find out for yourself
wow.
Why should we even make such a big of a deal about official updates? We're running CFW and Dark Alex probably won't make 3.93 M33, it's not that big of an upgrade.
I never found pop's loader useful I though my psp already can play playstation games then I got to the end of the first disc on finally fantasy7 , I realized that the second disc wouldn't read the save data and wouldn't start , I tried using pop's loader , I enabled it in recovery mde and everything but still no luck , can anyone help?? =^(
Becus_25 has already the new custom firmware. He's patched the 3.90 M33. What he does ? how ? He's said all 3.90m33 modules work perfect in 3.93, except popcorn module. Becus_25 wrote : It's a ****. Only sce have modified pops. I patched 3.90 M33 updater and I have now the fw 3.93 running with m33 modules [homebrew, etc...]. All 3.90 m33 patches works perfectly, only don't work the popcorn prx. Same here. I wish Dark-Alex can cook up some wonderful magic and save us. I need to be on 3.90 M33/M33-2. Godspeed Dark-Alex!
How? Pandora, read, use it. CFW is NOT a downgrader.. Nooblets these days.
Change the ones(Save or game ID) on the second(all) disc(s) to the same ID used by the first disc. You might need to reconvert to do that.
M33 NOW!!!! joke, this 0.03 update is a joke, dont waist your time dax
ok im on OFW 3.90 i actidently updated to it when i wanted to install the damm M33, i never had custom firmware so now im hoping someone comes out wit a fking CFW 3.93
1stly how can one actidently update from ofw 3.90 to ofw 3.93 ? 2ndly did you really think you were installing m33 by doing this? (if you did then somebody needs to take that PSP unit off you before you hurt urself) 3rdly do you think you can just get a m33 update eboot and update ur PSP to m33 ? 4thly Do you know what google is ? (Try words like m33, pandora's battery, magic memory stick, Despertar del Cementerio, Time machine) or just look at the links to right of this artical at the top 5thly try reading up on psp custom firmware before you show us how lame you really are please. I'm sorry but wtf did you even post tha comment here in the first place for ?????????
The new 20 radio players work on OFW and CFW 3.80 and above (including 3.90M33-2).
