Anybody that doesn't currently own a PSP, but wants one to play homebrew on do not despair! Although the 2.7 firmware release is now out which blocks even loading homebrew through GTA, there are still 1.5 & 2.0 (Downgradable to 1.5) firmware PSP's floating around.
Renchi.com are expecting PSP's with firmware version 1.5 to be in stock on May 8th, but you can pre-order one for $325; which is $125 more than a black console with 2.5. You can also buy a white PSP with firmware version 2.0 for $325, and downgrade to 1.5. This is a just heads up for those that don't yet own a PSP. If you really want one for homebrew, and your willing to pay $125 more for one, then go for it. I can guarantee that stocks won't last very long.

This is just stupid. There are still plenty of 1.5 and 2.0 PSP's out there. Sure, you may have to do some searching, but you'll save yourself lots of money.
Ebay may be cheaper, but will you be 100% sure you are buying a PSP with the right firmware.

Bought a value pack for €250 with FW 2.0 and downgraded it to 1.5, this was about 3 weeks ago...

I wouldn't bet on it. If Sony ever allows homebrew in future updates (unlikely but we can hope), that PSP will be no more valuable than any other (unless someone buys it to play ISO's...)

Thank god that my girl bought a psp on launch day (God knows why, she never *****ing uses it), I'll never have to worry about having or not having brew, or playing/not playing new games. It must suck to have one psp.
Actually, my local Wal*Mart was some of the original ones for just after launch, because they dont come with Spiderman 2. The guy there even said they were.
Oh yeah. And if you want to get 1.5 and 2.0 firmware, then just go to GameStop or EBGames and ask them:
"Hey, do you have any PSPs w/ firmware 1.5 or 2.0?"
They told me they do, except for the one store. They ran out.

My PSP was born a 1.5 and thats how its staying unless Sony do something truely awesome but I think 2.7 proved that homebrew and Sony arent going to get along

It would be cheaper to buy a new $200 PSP and buy a 1.5 mobo off the internet then this. And yes, you can still find PSPs in stores like walmart. Just ask the guy you would like to see the box before selecting one and they will let you.
i really dont see the what the relevance of a 1.5 or 2.0 psp is concerning homebrew. i like homebrew. but if 2.6 is currently running almost all of it. i dont mind. plus i willingly bought a copy of gta because i love gta.

When i was in a china you could get a fake psp for about 150 and they had version 1.5 and 2.0 in white or black
Just look around and you should be able to find one for $199. The Base Exchange here at Kirtland AFB has like 7 2.0 psp for $199. I went and bought 2 more last week, one as a backup, and another to keep the damn wife off of mine.

Did anyone actually read what the site said about the black $325 PSP, "Firmware v1.50/1.51/1.52 all capable of homebrew apps" ?? Yeah right.
Don't understand that, is it not true that these firmware will be able to do homebrew app? and iso loader? I know you do have to upgrade from 1.51 and 1.52 to 2.0 first and then downgrade back to 1.5...
isn't it the point that anything above 2.0 will not be downgradable and therefore these guys are charging so much?

It still amazes me that when people are posting screensshots of their firmware version, they block out the MAC Address.

yeh renchi was my secret site to!!! anyway i wanted a 1.5 psp for ages and finaly got the money and got 1 from renchi (then the sold out sign came on!!) WA HOO i got the last 1!!! hopfully it will arive in good condition and working (fingers crossed)

I just picked up 2 new units over the weekend. They were the last 1.52 at that store. One is a backup, the other is up for sale.
People with 1.5 that don't have another PSP will be running for an upgrade as soon as they see the Sony Offical Emu. Again Final Fantasy on the PSP...better graphics cause Homebrew Final Fantasy sucks. :| And when Sony releases their homebrew. Everyone will most likely upgrade. But the little 1.5 fan boys. Its ok though guys....I was thinking about getting another PSP. But f*ck that sh*t I don't wanna spend that much money just to play HOMEBREW!. Been there done that...thats why I upgrade everytime....HOMEBREW GETS BORING!!!!.

yeah i had a 2.6 from the day the update came out, then after that the GTA loader came out. I was so happy, with all the cababilities, i never ran homebrew before, but in about a month, it started to get boring, probly cause i couldnt run ISO's, so i upgraded to 2.7 the night it came out. It is pretty sick, if ur bored with homebrew.
