PSP Upgrader/Downgrader v1.11 with support for 3.40 LE-3 - Image 1 Homebrew developer Downgrader">Bob Joe has rolled out a new build for PSP Upgrader/Downgrader v1.11. Note that this software makes it easier for people to install firmware on their PlayStation Portable units.

This latest version adds support for Team Wildcard">Team Wildcard's recently release, 3.40 LE PSP Custom Firmware. In addition to that, the program now has an automatic update check in the options menu. The new additions are very convenient and perhaps a good reason to upgrade your older version.

So far, Bob Joe has only come out with a lite version of his update, so its a pretty small download and well worth the time if you're upgrading or downgrading your PSP.

Whether this is the first time you're using this program or not, remember to go over all the documentation and Readme.txt file before doing anything to avoid any unwanted mishaps with your PSP.

Bob Joe fusho!

I love this app. I was looking for the creators email but couldn't find it (but i din't look super hard). I just wanted to thank him. It's an easy, full-featured, elegant program. Please don't abandon the project. You keep track of everything so we dont have to. Sounds lazy on my part but really it's a huge help to have this. I can switch to and from CFW's with ease and dont have to try to get all the download from here or there, read how-to's etc. Thank you Bob Joe. Your #1 fan. :P And I'm no kid, I'm 23 and think this is the sh1t. srsly, you rock.

sigh

well said sir. best way and easiest way for people to upgrade who don't want to go hunting for firmware versions.
by - 2007-08-10 14:59:10
shoud I?

i have a 2.01 black beauty, still afraid to downgrade... just running Homebrew on 0.95 EBoot. Should I take my chances and use this program to downgrade and update to a CFW???
by - 2007-08-10 16:38:14
yes

I highly recommend downgrading. It is %99.9 safe if you follow all directions. However, i don't know about you but i prefer to do things manually. That way i know everythings how it should be.

3.50

does this work to downgrade a 3.5 and upgrade it to another
by - 2007-08-10 22:29:01
Yes and No

It will put all the firmware files in the right place and tell you what to do, but you will still need a copy of LUMINES to run the exploit.
by - 2007-08-10 22:32:31
Afraid of What?

Not sure what you're afraid of... especially when using this program. You can upgrade/downgrade to whichever firmware you want, and go back to your 2.01 if you so desire. Custom firmware is awesome. Why mess with eboot when you can run homebrew natively AND enjoy the benefits of the original Sony 3.52 firmware? I'm not going to say it is theoretically impossible to brick your PSP, but I've never heard a single person have a problem with this. I love DAX and now I love M33... this stuff is great. You're missing out.
by - 2007-08-11 09:01:24
???

it gives u options like what are u on and wats ur target if I said 3.50 to 3.40oe would it work?

2.81 >> 1.50 without GTA?

I have 2.81 PSP. Can I straight downgrade to 1.5 without the GTA?
by - 2007-08-11 10:11:38
CFW

I've always used DevHook, this is why i dont know anything about Custom Firmware and why these questions are probably stupid! I want to tryout M33 CFW... Can I use PSP Upgrader/Downgrader v1.11 and "downgrade" back to 1.50? If a newer CFW is released, can I upgrade directly to it without going back to 1.50 first? Is going back to 1.50 from a CFW complicated when done manually? Thanks in advance to anyone that answers these questions!
by - 2007-08-11 13:14:15
CFW

1) Yes you can. In fact, if you use any CFW you can downgrade back to 1.50, although believe me, you won't want to (I know, because I was just like you.. a 1.50 loyalist) 2) Yes you can as well. New CFW's just builds on the previous one's, so no need to downgrade first. That is to say, if you install CFW 3.52 and say a 3.53 comes out, you just install it directly over 3.52 3) Not at all.. it's quite simple actually. I forgot how to do it, but take my word for it, once you install CFW, you won't want to go back to 1.50.

From 3.52 M33-2 to 3.40

You can choose "M33" for your current firmware. But what firmware is that? I tried to downgrade 3.52 M33-2 firmware to 3.40OE and I thought that I should choose M33 for my current firmware because it's made by M33. But after few steps I found out that I was trying to upgrade, not downgrade, my firmware (and I couldn't run the installer).. And if i choose 3.52 for my current firmware i get message which says that it isn't possible to downgrade from 3.52. But doesn't that mean the official firmware?

i got one question

ok lets say after i upgrade to custom firmware and everything works fine can i brick my psp by turning it off wrong or pressing a button i shouldnt cause my old one got bricked after using devhook i guess i pressed the wrong button or turned it off inporperly can this happen with custom firmware?
by - 2007-08-11 18:21:09
good question

i've used almost all firmwares that were released and so far, i did not encounter any problems with bricking. . .worse thing i did was change icons for 3.10oe which semi-bricked my psp. . .however, the recovery menu was able to fix that. . . anyway, to bob joe, this is one great app that you made. . .it's very user friendly. . .this will greatly help those who are having a hard time manually flashing their psp units. . .keep updating this. . .thanks!
by - 2007-08-12 01:30:48
i got one question

If you upgrade to a CFW and everything works fine, then you have nothing to worry about. As long as you don't enable USB flash0 and mess around with files there, you can't brick it. I would like to regard your second comment as nonsense, as you cannot brick your PSP using Devhook. I even had the PSP's Red Screen of Death (the one which is a serious error, and you need to take it to Sony blah blah blah...) and after restarting it, my PSP worked normal again. Devhook can't brick your PSP as it doesn't touch your flash0

by - 2007-08-12 08:22:29
2.81 to 1.50

is it possible to downgrade from 2.81 to 1.50 without the GTA Game with this software. Thanks
by - 2007-08-12 08:54:26
2.81 to 1.50

Yes you can. You won't need GTA, but you will need Lumines.
by - 2007-08-12 09:15:35
2.81 to 1.50

But what if you don't have Lumines. Why is it for 2.81 you need a game to downgrade and for others you don't? Do i need to use Lumines, can i not do it without it. Is it possible. Thanks
by - 2007-08-12 13:15:41
to bash

well something bricked it cause my bro was using devhook and it bricked so idk what went wrong but it did and we had to get another one and i wasnt using any othere flashing programs idk im still at 3.51 how gay i wish theyd come out witha downgrader soon
by - 2007-08-12 13:53:34
2.81 to 1.50

If you don't have Lumines... then unfortunatley, you can't downgrade. This is also why, despite Lumines being such an old game, it recently became Amazon's top seller of PSP games, just because of it's ability to run homebrew (and hence downgrade). As I recall, for firmwares 2.71-3.03 you need GTA and for firmwares 3.10-3.50 you need Lumines. The reason why previous firmwares, such as 2.50 didn't need a game to downgrade was that it was able to run homebrew through an exploit within the firmware (namely the TIFF exploit). Since Sony patched all exploits within the firmware, the next best thing for hackers was to find an exploit within a game.. and that's what they done. So to answer your question, no, it's not possible to downgrade without Lumines. Might I suggest you find one on ebay or similar.
by - 2007-08-12 13:57:13
to redmetal

The only way I can see it bricking is if you done a Network Update, and then cancelled (or switched off) while it was busy writing. But then again, you weren't supposed to be doing a Network Update .\/. Did you buy your PSP with FW 3.51, or did you upgrade to that? Coz if you did upgrade to it, I will need to call you a dumbass.. in a polite way :)
by - 2007-08-12 16:28:49
as i said

when my psp bricked i bought a new one with this gay firmware on it nuff said

CFW 3.40 to CFW 3.52 M33 , ask lang po!!!!!

NEED HELP !!!!!!!! is it possible to for my CFW 3.40 to upgrade to CFW 3.52 M33 using this app??? do i still need a UMD of GTA or Lumines????? TNX a Bunch!!!!!!! =)
by - 2007-08-14 06:01:28
CFW 3.40 to CFW 3.52 M33

The mere fact that you're already on CFW means you don't need any UMD of any game to run any exploit. While I havn't used this program myself (As I prefer to do things manually), I can tell you that you can upgrade to CFW 3.52 M33 without any UMD being needed.

help needed

can u go back to 1.50 from m33 3.52-2
by - 2007-08-16 04:34:32
Worked like a charm

I went from 3.03 TA82 motherboard to 3.52 M33 with now problems at all, but you need GTA LC unpatched though, which i had already. Great Application
by - 2007-08-16 14:14:07
your help

Clearly you are not using your firmware properly, since you don't know how to load ISO's. Nonetheless, there is a way to return to 1.50, but maybe you would like to stop at 3.03 OE-C before going to straight 1.50
by - 2007-08-16 14:46:10
devhook

Probably not. With the immense popularity of CFW, the amount of users of Devhook has drastically decreased. Might I suggest you start using CFW as well.

your help

No you don't.
by - 2007-08-16 14:54:27
your help

Since this program is supposed to make things easier for the user, I don't think it will cause your PSP to brick. I didn't use this program myself, as I prefer to do things manually.
by - 2007-08-16 17:08:49

3.02 OE-B

I have 3.02 OE-B and want 3.52 m33. What do I select. Is it OE/LE or 3.02? I really don't feel like bricking my psp
by - 2007-08-18 16:37:33
updating

Just update the way you're supposed to... using the OE Update Maker, and then running DAX's Updater. Doing things manually is usually better.
by - 2007-08-20 14:14:58
A++

This is a must have!
