PSP System firmware 1.5 BIOS for Undiluted Platinum users! |
Listed in: Firmware, Hacks & Exploits, Mods, News Tags: BIOS, firmware, modchip, psp firmware
Ó

From the creators of the Undiluted Platinum Modchip comes PSP System firmware 1.5 BIOS in .flash format for the Undiluted Platinum flashing utility. This release is a stop-gap between the availability of the first Modchip for the PSP and the release of the Epsilon custom Bios flash replacement that will allow you to do much more than this 'unpacked' version of a 1.5 EBOOT lets you do.
So, what does this one actually do? Well, it allows Undiluted Platinum users to install PSP firmware version 1.5 onto their Undiluted Platinum chip using the flashing utility supplied with the UP chip. You can then switch between your original Bios that is on your PSP (i.e firmware 2.0) and firmware 1.5, thus allowing you to play UMD games that require higher firmware versions and running homebrew! We didn't have a spare Undiluted Platinum modchip to test this on in the QJ labs, but we have been assured by the modchip developers that this is very easy to use with the UP flashing utility.
The Epsilon custom Bios replacement should be released pretty soon and is much better, as it has support for both 1.0 and 1.5 Eboots, and of course has the godlike ability to restore bricked PSPs to their original glory. However, until then, this original firmware 1.5 should do for Undiluted Platinum users!

- Good job guys! :)

Oh for the love of god QJ host it if you get a e-mail from sony then remove it!
Reply
this woudl also make this file illegal since it is sonmy's copyrighted OS, only "reverse engineered" and so I do think you guys shoudl still host it since it is important to the PSP scene and the UP users, but i think sony might take the opportunity to sue again since they have no real defense against the modchip.

Comon QJ they are not gonna slap a lawsuit on you for this they will get angry if someone tips them off and will send you a nasty e-mail with a threat asking you to remove it if not then they will take legal action

If you have the chip make sure you rename it
nand-dump.flash before you flash it to your new nand!!
But you would probably know that if you have installed the chip!!

You'll have to find it yourselves.
Sorry, I have to go use Google. Bye.

Also, you need to read and learn about the topic before writing some stupid comment like "OMG OMG OMG OMG the U.P. team is going to get their @$$ kicked by Fanjita. Woo-hoo full kernal access. Wait, what is full kernal access..."
If you don't know what your talking about, please just don't comment.

Ver 1.5
Pro: Full Kernal Access
Easily access homebrew material
Con: No internet (I don't mean by hacking other software)
Cannot play newer games (Not supporting illegal activities)
Ver 2.5/2.6
Pro: Access to any game on the market (2.60)
Homebrew through GTA
Con: No full kernal access which means less homebrew
Not a lot of support for homebrew at this time
Mod Chip
Pro: Easily access all firmwares
Can play new games with 2.71 firmware and keep 1.5 for homebrew material
Con: Price tag
Installation process
Now, this is just a SIMPLE breakdown of all three items. I am fully aware of full kernal access on 2.5/2.6 in the future, however, you still need GTA to access it which makes it a bit difficult right now, although, in time, I'm sure someone can work around this.
Also, playing ISO's on your 1.5 is NOT a benefit because lets face it, 90% of you are doing it illegally.
I have lots of skill in soldering so I purchased the mod chip for my PSP (gotta wait for that June 30th shipping date) and I'll happily solder it myself. Only con for me was the price tag.
All items have there benefits, period! Just a matter of which one you enjoy more over the others!

sony has attempted lawsuits against QJ before and the risk isnt worht it. there are other sources where the flash will be hosted. (hopefully, the UP team will make a site for themselves) and I would say that sony would take any opportunity to destroy the PSP homebrew scene and the modchip
CAN SOMEONE FROM QJ VERIFY THIS FOR ME? I WOULD LIKE MORE DETAILS I MISSED THE ARTICLE ON THIS IF THERE EVEN WAS ONE. MORE INFO ON A THREAT FROM SONY PLEASE.THANKS

looks like that 2.5/2.6 downgrader IS real, although "unusual side effects" were mentioned but not elaborated upon.
I'm gonna wait and see how this all pans out, if you did DG thru the experimental downgrader and had side effects I suppose you could then do a clean update to 2.0 using an eboot and then use MPH or whatever to go back to 1.5 with a legit intact 1.5 eboot.
im still gonna wait and see
