Due to some unforeseen bugs mucking up the works, custom firmware 5.50GEN-C at the start of the week turned out to be more underwhelming than we hoped. Good thing Team GENyUS was able to roll out a new revision a few days after, with another update launching in the days that followed. 5.50GEN-C may have set the week off on a sour note, but thanks to 5.50GEN-D things still turned out for the best.

Are there any reports about D bricking PSPs? The PSP 1004 of a friend was semi bricked after flashing C. I recovered it to 5.00 M33. And today he tried to flash D and says its now completely bricked. No Recovery, no DC8. I can't take a look at the moment. But could this be possible?

HOPEFULLY, your buddy didn't install it while he had a custom theme running...I did that and gave me a semi-brick...because I did NOT read the directions and made the same mistake...ANYTIME you are using a program that writes DIRECTLY to the PSP's FLASH you run the possibility of ending up with a potential brick!

He didn't do anything like that. Even if he did, it would just be a semi-brick. But he can't do anything anymore so it sounds like a full brick.
