Heads up, guys! Firmware 6.00 for the PSP has now been released by Sony. You can now download it via the Network Update. No word yet on what the changes are, but we'll be sure to keep you updated on this as we dig up more info.

For quicker navigation, just click on the source link below.

Thanks to tipsters 300zxtt0 and EXTER!

*UPDATE*

Eric Lempel took to the PlayStation Blog to announce that the firmware update v6.00 "will be available soon." Looks like he didn't hear of it having been released already earlier.

Nonetheless, he gives us an exact list of the changelog, and so we find that it is a minor update - just as he said. From the looks of it, the items that were correct from the leaked changelog would be the added new theme colors under the Theme Settings, and the renaming of the Network Update to System Update. As for the other goods, they're not listed here by Lempel.
  • For those of you looking to customize your XMB (XrossMediaBar), a few new colors will be added under the Theme Settings. These new theme colors can be used on PSP models 2000 or after (PSP-2000, 3000 and N1000).
  • A security patch has been added.
  • [Network Update] has been renamed as [System Update].

I'm hoping for a 6.00M33 or 6.00GEN as well. Hopefully this will happen. I'm looking forward to see what happens.

» 6.00GEN

I highly doubt there will be a 6.00M33 as DA said he wont do a new CFW until $ony add something worth cracking and this is another lame update.

I guess we will be seeing a 6.00GEN in the next few weeks.

by Acteon - 2009-09-09 19:19
» Huh

Thanks Sony, I'll just dump CFW for this straight away then...

lol, it's not massively exciting is it? Ever get the feeling they're running out of things to add? How about iPlayer support for those of us in the UK?

Start your Clocks the Race to Crack 6.0 Just started !

by sickofitall - 2009-09-09 19:58
» is this it?

lame. Why did they have to change the battery charging icon? Now I won't know approx. how much charge I have left when charging.

by pokerpoker - 2009-09-09 20:04
» forget about 6.00 M33.

remember how it was between 2.00 and 4.00 ?

now it's like they're doing nothing...

anyway, 5.00 M33 still suits my needs

by lunas - 2009-09-09 21:14
» needs to be a 5.00 m33 -7

Well since DA said he isnt doing another update till they put something worth cracking in isnt 5.55's new checks enough for that at least a -7 patch to 5.00m33-6

Right now most cfw cant get on the psn store from the psp anymore and there are games showing up that wont play on it...

by BryanNitro - 2009-09-09 23:24
» No Firmware Yet.

we are probably not going to get another Custom firmware until there are some real good features so far its been patches for CFW from other developers other then M33.

» Great!

I want an official, stable youtube player.

by iamshadow - 2009-09-10 01:15

M33-7 would be fine, a PSN patch, and maybe the new colors from 6.00 added in lol

by dieselboy27 - 2009-09-10 03:39
» meh

These updates are utter crap. Sony has really dropped the ball with the firmwares. I haven't picked up my PSP in ages, maybe when chinatown wars is released I'll be interested.

I hope Gen or M33 release ther CFW soon

i hope the next uppdate has something usefull like

ENABLE THE 802.11g already

by OMightyBuggy - 2009-09-10 05:13
» Race won...

GEN dumped 6.00 and found some new things on there site.

by OMightyBuggy - 2009-09-10 05:29
» GEN.

GEN already dumped 6.00 so we might see a new CFW from them soon. As for DAX on PSPWIKI Alek says no 6.00 M33 and on Sceners.org the same thing.

by KylBlz - 2009-09-10 07:24
» facepalm?

im pretty sure the psp's wireless card can only support 802.11b. upgrading to G is a lot more than software...

by lansingone - 2009-09-10 08:17
» so sony

where is the update to sort music, by goddam artist and genera?

by magnusvisel - 2009-09-10 10:05

So happy I sold PSP and got iPod touch. lol, Sony screws up the PSP worse then Microsoft screws up, everything! lol, well that was a bit harsh. No one can screw something up as bad as Microsoft can but Sony sure is coming close.

by Minotauro420 - 2009-09-10 12:16
» 88W8010 + 88w8510

marvell 88W8010 + 88w8510 chipset has supports for

802.11b> 1 2 5.5 11 Mbps

802.11g> 6 9 12 18 24 36 48 and 54Mbps

there is also support for proprietary data rates of 22 and 72 Mbps for access Point/Gateway application.... so i just dont know why sony deosen“t enable it in a new uppdate/Ofw

I think they havent anable it yet to save the battery life but that should be our choice

ummm what?

by JaXeRiR - 2009-09-10 16:11
» Uh.

What the heck are you on?

And by the way, browsing PSP news after you've sold yours and bought an iPod Touch seems kind of desperate.. I mean, it's like you're scared you're going to miss something great.

Amiright?

» wth

that is true? this damn PSP got it nativly? now sony suxx even more in my eyes >_>

by lansingone - 2009-09-11 05:01
» well

i didn't sell my PSP, in fact i still find it a great gaming platform, but why does Sony have to not add every feature that is most wanted, and already proved to be possible with home-brew? things like the music sorting capability, i would fill the PSP with more music than an ipod, but unfortunately the PSP has no music sorting, so it depends on me sorting it all into folders. The problem with putting music into folders, is that it only works when each folder has less than thirty songs, once it gets over that things become hard to navigate. Why Sony why? you have it in the PS3? does it really take that much power to sort music by artist and album?

by FelisCatusLover - 2009-09-11 07:51

Actually I browse it to see if Sony has added anything useful or if any good games have come out on the PSP yet. If one of them happens then I'll probably get another PSP.
