Took quite a while, but finally it's here. The Sony PSP Firmware 3.40 first appeared in Korea, and was later rolled out to Japan. Well, we already got quite a glimpse of the changelog from both Asian official sites, but here's a more English-friendly translation What's new in PSP FW 3.40? Thought you'd never ask...
Game
- New for 3.40: Support for PLAYSTATION Network titles has been expanded.
- New for 3.40: Saved data from PlayStation format software can now be used on both PSP and PS3 systems.
- New for 3.40: [Certificate Utility] was deleted.
- Information that was displayed in [Certificate Utility] can be checked by the following method.
- Select the icon of the game you want to display information for, press the button, and then select [Information] from the options menu.
- New for 3.30: Support for PLAYSTATION Network titles has been expanded.
- New for 3.30: Support for thumbnail images of items has been added under [RSS Channel].
- New for 3.30:Support for thumbnail images of videos that are stored in the "VIDEO" folder of Memory Stick Duo media has been added.
- New for 3.30:The following types of files can now be played in the "VIDEO" folder.
- – MPEG-4/H.264 AVC Main Profile (AVC CABAC) video files of the following sizes: 720 X 480, 352 X 480, or 480 X 272
- *Depending on the data type, some files cannot be played.
- New for 3.30: [Use Wireless Hotspot] has been added as a feature under [Network Settings].

Is there any hope of Sony ever releasing a firmware that will fix the "out of memory" error? I would gladly donate some ms space to be used as browser cache. Man is this frustrating.

I don't believe there is anything important in 3.40 to justify
DAX needing to release a 3.40 OE for. This was just
poppyc o c k to begin with.
None of these items in the new 3.40 are important for the
time being and DAX should wait till there is a FW release with
something more important in it worth his time.

idcheck.prx is the only file that doesn't get decrypted according to Dax. If the psardumper is recompiled to skip that file then everything elsegets decrypted. It is thought that the idcheck.prx isn't currently used but is maybe for future use in relation to official Psx titles. In short, it is possible to have all of the updated functions of 3.40 in a custom firmware if Dax thought it worth while. Respect to Dax, nothing like cool hobbies like hacking eh.

well u didnt check for help b4 u posted this, you can already prevent that error by checking a box that says reduce memory usage (or something like that) in the options of the browser. and the ms is slower than the ram but it would be a good option.

i agree, gifs are supported but animated gifs have to be viewed in the browser to see the animation... the photo viewer only shows the first frame...

The 3.40 firmware coincides with the PS3's 1.70 firmware (which now has the ability to play the same playstation eboots as the psp) and as such, converts your psp saves to the shared save format. Thus allowing PSP to PS3 transfers and vice versa and allowing you to play your emulated playstation games either on the big screen or on your PSP.
