PSP Firmware Update v6.10 incoming *UPDATE* out now! |
Ó
Version 6.10 features:
- SensMe channels is a new music application for PSP that uses Sony’s proprietary 12 Tone Analysis technology to evaluate music tracks that have been imported from Media Go application on your PC to your PSP. The application automatically categorizes the tracks into 12 channels such as “Relax” or “Newly Added”. Check out the walk-thru demo to see how it works.
- In addition, PlayStation Store for the PSP and PSPgo via Media Go (v1.2) will be updated with a new look on Thursday, October 1. To access PlayStation Store, you need to download Media Go (or update Media Go if you already have it). Media Go is a free PC software application that allows you to easily organize and transfer music, photos and videos between your PC and PSP. It also allows you to access PlayStation Store and to purchase, backup and restore PSP games. Of course, you can always access PlayStation Store directly on the PSP and PSPgo by connecting to a wireless hot spot and simply logging in with your PlayStation Network ID. But for those of you who prefer to use a PC, you will see that downloading games, movies and TV shows for your PSP is easier than ever with the new PlayStation Store on Media Go. With this update, youÂ’ll be able to export playlist onto the PSP. Go to us.playstation.com/psn/mediago to download Media Go and for more details.
- Tethering. Another new feature is the ability to use a bluetooth mobile device, such as a mobile phone, as a modem to connect your PSP system to the internet. This means that when youÂ’re not located close to a wifi spot you have another way to get on the internet via a bluetooth mobile device.
*UPDATE*

Probably a new game encryption for the YOSHI decrypto.
SECOND COMMENT!
6.10 m33, is probaly coming out soon because this is a BIG update, and DarkAlex stated since that 5.55-6.00 didnt have any BIG updates, he wont be making them, so lets wait and see what happens
No, this is a rather minor update. Just a few small things added. Don't expect any new cfw anytime soon.
i have to agree with enrique in saying this is a pretty big update. maybe not big, but very cool in my opinion. most of it is PC based but i would still love to get my hands on a CFW of this.
They should have included a volume boost update. Because the psp is very quiet.
That can't be it. They don't release a firmware a single day after something happens in the pirate scene. Sony has to take time bugtest the firmware, they wouldn't release it so soon as a response.
i noticed it too.. especially when playing rock band: unplugged..
This is not like adding more colors or fixing bugs, this is adding a new section to the music menu, plus more to be found out, so this is 1 of those major updates like skype
if this isn´t a big update, then, what is it?
I hope gen doesnt stuff this firmware up too
thats pretty sick.
I'm the owner of a PSP 1000 I'm wondering if I update my psp to 6.10 will I have this awesome app, or its just for the PSPgo???
Just read the article :)
I really hope 6.10 M33 can be expected shortly.
I refuse to touch GEN, and I hate being stuck with 5.00 since it's missing a bunch of features
GEN stinks and m33 rocks. nothing beats 5.00m33.
I wish he'd replace the in-game menu with his own though. Have it do the same things custom firmware extender does, but with the OS's theme to it
Have you even tried it? I quite like the recovery menu and it's not all bad. Loyalty to just the m33 name is kind of retarded, why not try GEN out?
Besides, I'm playing Disgaea 2 and Gran Turismo on my PSP right now... can m33 do that? ;)
Duh..
duh duh duh.
LOL QJ is a bit slow onthe news.
because all the newer updates have no new features for my psp 1000 and i dont need to ps store
I upgraded to 5.50GEN-B2 and it's pretty nice. Doesn't seem to have that many bugs, at least. Only thing I miss is the option to speed up memstick access (it's a bit noticeable).
proved this point when he stopped making OE and then says hes done. Secretly coming back as M33 and getting everyone to bash him cause its not D_A
might that damage the speakers though? please correct me if I am wrong cause that does bug me too
but right now GEN is offering for me the possibility to play any game so GEN rocks for me!
I think he wanted to say PS3 instead of PSP. He did hesitate for a bit. Did anyone else notice that?
The PSP just has crappy speakers. You can use the volume boost function in LightMP3, but it sounds horrible. They're not made to go that loud. They should use whatever my cell phone uses lol. They're definitely small but VERY loud.
I had to install the GEN CFW in my PSP because I just had to play Gundam Senjou no Kizuna. Was wondering why there're a lot of people who throw flames at that CFW. Still wishing that they release a new CFW now.
They may have already prepared for the worst (DECRYPTION) and prepared this firmware. Sony has been chugging out firmwares quickly lately.
firmwares are chuggin out quickly!
theres little bits of plastic over the speakers, you can pop them to make it louder... it could effect the sound quality though.
I wouldnt do it personaly but then my psp is only really used as a memory stick reader, even then only when my camera's battery is dead..
i checked on alek's blog and he mentioned something about no m33 for this update tough luck guys
What bits of plastic? There is none. Unless you're talking about the faceplate itself? Certainly won't be cutting that up. Have you ever even taken apart a PSP before? I think a more realistic problem is that half of the speakers are covered by the LCD. Also, the holes in the faceplate are not placed directly over the speakers. I believe the speakers were just poorly placed into the design of the PSP.
sony posted it on facebook lol
i read this player is an app and is not integrated into the the fw.
so does it run on the 5.55 cfw?
anyone tried that? if it works, put it up for download please.
DUDES, THE SENSE ME CRASHES WHEN I GO RIGHT OR LEFT AFTER A VERY SHORT WHILE!!!!!, IT JUST FREEZES!!!!
No 1.5 kernel support, that's what.
In other words, the only remaining advantage of the PSP-1000 goes poof.
After updating to 6.10 and installing the SensMe application and then uploading a couple playlists from MediaGo, I browsed my way through the folder structure on my MemoryStick.
Seems The playlists don't go into \MUSIC, but rather \PSP\PLAYLIST\M USIC with extension ".m3u8". I'm not fully familiar with the syntax for that format, but it looks straight forward enough when looking at the playlist files in PSPad. Should be easy enough for 3rd party programs to adapt and stuff playlists there when uploading to PSPs.
Also, the SensMe application was installed into \PSP\APP\NPIA00 013. I wonder if this is a possible exploit (or intentional gateway) for home-brew (or official and/or optional) applications/utilities? SensMe loads just like a game so you get the standard delays of loading and quitting unlike using the built-in music player. Makes sense tho, given the extra complexity (and graphics) of the SensMe interface. ("SensMe Channels"? Wonder how many Ninty Fan Bois will claim Sony is "stealing" from Wii...)
Dark Alex has quit, get over it, guys.
I agree. That's cool. I do this with my cell phone and laptop sometimes.
DS3 Supprt, tethering, PS3 connectivity, and most important A2DP support start to make the PSP BT support compelling.
Oh my, we'll all be laughing at you guys when DAX calls it quits and GEN will be all we have.
I trust GEN, their firmwares are just as good as M33 firmwares, if not even better in some areas.
I just noticed that the back-slashes for the paths got trimmed. (Why is there no preview on this site?) I'm attempting to give corrections using forward slashes...
"PSPPLAYLISTMUSI C" should be "/PSP/PLAYLIST/MUSIC". "PSPAPPNPIA00013" should be "/PSP/APP/NPIA00013"
even though I work and have a bunch of other stuff, i'd work on a CFW just to piss sony off.
I hate to laugh, but it kinda seems hilarious how a few weeks ago we were all bickering like little internet kids over the 6.00 CFW (me included), and now Sony's released a new one and makes any development on said CFW virtually pointless. (Even you, Erique, have to laugh with me on that!) I can kinda see why DAX doesn't release so frequently any more due to Sony shoveling out firmwares to patch exploits. If he did, then one could argue him only supporting piracy. In fact, if your right, Elric, that DAX has quit, (I'll believe it when I see it, though I highly doubt that you're incorrect on that) then I wouldn't doubt that he would do so because A.) he hates indirectly supporting Piracy, and B.) He wants to pass the torch on.
Heck, I don't pirate games (Though I was tempted when RBU was leaked; I resisted and just bought it last weekend), but LOVE the simplicity that is homebrew. The ability to play my entire library of classic games that I OWN myself on one handheld is a blast! True, 5.50 GEN is no where near the quality of M33 5.00, feature and bug-wise (when are we getting a 1.50 patch BTW?!?!?!) but I can safely confirm that as of this writing, the PS Store runs perfectly on 5.50B2 GEN Firmware (though Mini's require 6.00 Firmware, and I didn't buy anything; a college guy's gotta have a budget...). All I hope is that someone actually RELEASES a CFW that'll be compatible with LBP-PSP, as I refuse to loose my ability to have my entire UMD Library of MY games for just one game (even though last years rumors of said game was what convinced me to finally pick up a 1000)
Genius > SensME
doesn't work. i downloaded the files from http://www.playstation.com/psp-app/sensme/en/download_pc.html and put everything in my PSP/GAME folder. icon shows up in xmb, under games. says i need to upgrade firmware to 6.10
will have to wait for the 6.10 CFW
it said I only have one dance song and all the others say I have no tracks that are in those categories and about all my songs are on my newly added option and it can't play all my songs on my PSP too
Don't expect or demand a CFW from Dark AleX. He will make one if he wishes to. The guy deserves a break too... Just sayin'
The m3u8 playlists can be opened with wordpad, entries per line like:
"\Music\Megadeth \Greatest Hits Back To The Start\13 Hangar 18.mp3"
will add them to that playlist.
winamp-native playlist format, btw.
What homebrew do you have that uses 1.5 kernel, hmm? Also not the only remaining "advantage" (not really an advantage), there is also the IR port.
"Music/Megadeth/Greatest Hits Back To The Start/ Hangar 18.mp3"
Thanks GFK youve convince me to switch dont get me wrong i love m33's work its just that with the new releases out there ...
the music function sux bawws. he clicked Lounge and i see prodigy in there.

did you use prx decryptor or Ultradogg's new psardumper for 6.00 and 6.10
neither.
What's wrong with 5.50 GEN?
No 1.5 kernel support, that's what.
are you aware LEDA works for 5.50GEN.
i find LEDA to support quite a few 1.50 apps quite nicely
ultradoggs psar dumper can be found here http://forums.maxconsole.net/attachment.php?attachmentid+24508+d+1254564629 (as always plus signs are actually equals signs)
i havent tried it yet, thats why i asked.
i guess you have your own tricks of the trade to get what you need (i was told once that if dump the NAND using pandora, i can mount the bin image using daemon tools or other virtual drive)
everytime i try the above method (image mounting) i get corruption errors, so there must be a little more to it then just mount and firmware files magically appear
if it works and plays the isos, homebrew and psn games, who cares who makes it...I still don't like the extra step of patching the games but if it must be done, let it be done. Yoshiro did an exellcent job with the decrypter, I hope nothing requires the 6.10 fw cause itd be a pain to constantly wait for new apps to come out
i just saw your video on sceners.org
you rule man
honestly (even though as you explained its not your hack....still)
keep it up you legend
wow, it only took Sony FOUR years to realize they should add a shuffle all feature for music. PSP is a fail music player, I bought an iPod just so I could shuffle my music =)
Hope they bring that music feature to the PS3.
Could GENyUS = M33 - Dark AleX? o.O
you must be new
well... I said it "could". give me a good reason why they couldn't? =/
of GEN and DAX
just google it
you'll see
i'm not saying you dumb or anything.
just dont have the information.
