PSP firmware 6.00 decrypted

A QJ.NET reader has just dropped us an email saying that official firmware 6.00, which was released for the Sony PlayStation Portable just a couple of days ago, has already been decrypted. Wow. Those GEN folks work pretty fast.

The decryption is still just the first step, though, and as of this moment there is still no word on when (or if) a CFW 6.00 will be released by the GEN team:

The first stage of the discovery of 6.00 has therefore been reached and our team of developers fetishes will therefore continue its investigations to try to bring us more information about this topic. Note that Dark_Alex said he was not working on 6.00 M33 and that for the moment, no public 6.00 GEN is still expected.

I'll just be happy if we get something like a 5.50 GEN-C that can "somehow" read stuff encrypted for 6.00.

Yeah, the custom firmware groups aren't obligated to do it, but you'd think someone would step in, if only because they think it'd be nice to have recent UMDs and homebrew on their own PSP.

Side note, I always here people saying that you can go to OFW and then emulate CFW, they should really do it the other way around. Like the good ole Devhook days. Emulate the OFW, but still have ISO launching capabilities. That might be nice.

I just wanna start playing some of these new games.

...hey genius, umds still require a higher firmware and i don't want to have to install a OFW and then emulate a CFW. that's why i said it would be good the other way around.

and who's to say i didn't buy them? it doesn't matter if it's a umd or an iso, it won't run either way on present CFW, and i don't want to go back to OFW ever again (unless for some crazy reason i get a second psp).

I "EXPECT" that we won't be stuck with a 5.50 CFW forever, so it's not a matter of IF, it's a matter or when and who.

Meh, GEN's CFW suck as long as they don't have the "speed up ms" option. Plus the broken compatibility with many homebrew applications/games.

They need to learn how to write the code, not just reverse engineer and recompile.

You're right. I'm not that good in French neither in English but that is because I'm Portuguese. Anyway, I understand enough of both languages plus Spanish to understand the basics.

I my opinion, yes they will release it. It's a question of who's the best: MaGiXieN or DAX.

the only problem with that is a devhook would have to be developed, which is alot of work.

despertar del cementerio already lets us test or emulate 5.00m33, pretty quickly too i might add.

looks like you'll have to buy your 6.00+ games for now.

True true not to mention can you only imagine the things they made for their own personal use.

But for the people b1tchin about new CFW. They were obviously not here during the official 1.50 firmware yet along the 1.00 firmware. We ran strickly homebrew and a few buggy emulators at that time. In order to play a game disc you had to update but of course no one wanted to update their firmware. So the true PSP fanboys such as myself, we all bought a second PSP for official games. That same thing obviously applies here now. Not to mention i spent $40 bucks for my second PSP at that time like 05-06.

So deal with it people. Time is just repeating itself as usual. DA has droped out possibly temporarily and we kind of still need two PSPs. All i can say is enjoy it while it last. "while it last" wtf im smokin, before soul calibur there were more than 600 games released for PSP. START CHOOSEIN!!!! Not to mention PSX and completed emulators. ITS OVER 5000!!!!!! Seriously you guys im down with piracy its hella fun to bragg about it but face the fact, were not even suppose to be doing it anyway. So just take a chill pill relax get a girlfriend go play some basketball. Shoot just be thankful we have the opportunity to play games on the PSP in which its librairy due to homebrew is OVER 5000!!!!!

I have 1 thing to say to you.

When games come out that only work with higher firmware then STFU! and don't complain that it doesn't work in 5.00M33 as it'll be YOUR FAULT the game doesn't work.

You choose not to update to a GEN firmware so its your choice the games don't work.

maybe that instead of dark Alex making a full blown cfw maybe he can just help with i don't know a 1.5 kernel add on only so that the new cfw will work 100% as to 89% or less it will be less work for him to do and it will help everyone here to since he would be able to get the 1.5 kernel in the cfw with no problems at all.
