Sometimes, it can be very misleading to have someone blurt out "OH NOEZ! PSP FW3.03 is up!" on our Gurumin gameplay posts. That's not exactly the best place to get the word out about something like that.
Still, it seems to be spot on. This version 3.03 comes through Network Update and apparently adds more titles to the list of PS1 games Sony's handheld can play. Right now, that seems to be the only thing it does. We're still trying to verify, but there are scattered reports elsewhere of this being true.
If you know if anything else is on this new update, let us know with a news tip or make a post on the discussion thread below. Of course, this update isn't really anything great if you don't have a PS3 (which is most of us), so let's just hope they didn't mess with the encryption again.

Someone test this out to see if we can emulate via DevHook
wonder if this firmware will work with devhook if that is all they did was add the use of more ps1 titles to the update than i wouldn't see why it wouldn't work in devhook lets hope it works
hopefully this one will be able to be cracked quickly like the other ones.
and I am typing this on it right now. Just before I came on here, I connected to the Playstation store and found nothing new. Maybe it will be soon though, I hope.
it won't work with devhook, PSAR Dumper can't decrypt it, i got 2 errors. Guess we'll have to wait for another PSAR Dumper Release or something...
Are we going to have to update our firmware ever time they add new PS1 games? That stinks.

Dude, you must be high! No this does not mean 3.0 has been hacked. It means sony is implementing an idea that should have been done with the start of the ps1 emu. And that they dislike homebrew, and gona make some new games that will takes us a week to hack, but will run on 2.71 se anyway.

omg this sucks my psp is bricked during update ,:-( i turned it off cause i was in a train and had to step-over-to-another so 17 painfull days later it came back i was so f!#%cking happy cause it was 2..5 , gone to 2.71 gone to 1.5 gone to 2.71 se c used pspset and briked again the recovery menu dint work to so i sending it today SO PSP HACKERS OR USERS ON 1.5/SE NEVER I MEAN NEVER!!!!!! this version also has some added filetypes for videos and music (.wmv and .mpeg4 with some codec or something). there are also 2 more visualizations added. and some RSS settings, and location free player settings
