Follow these steps to downgrade... 1) Remove any UMD Games 2) Delete all your save games, don't worry, the PSPs magic will back them up 3) Throw it out the window as hard as you can, if done correctly, your PSP will be at 1.5, ready to be upgraded to CFW. :)

That guy up there, dont listen to him. This is what you really do: Take any UMD Game, not a movie but a GAME, and put it in BACKWARDS. It may take a little shoving, jamming, etc. but it is necessary to hit the unlock core module located inside. Then you will have a unlocked 3.51, which you can run the eboot to get to 3.51 M33

i have had freezing issues, but only after i flashed a custom xmb on, the background, top menu and font worked fine until i tried to check my system info, then it froze, also in character set. once i flashed the back up of the flash0 i had made back on, it works fine. so when they customise all your icons and more, they really mean customise all your icons and more, but your sub menu's wont work and freeze your psp. never the less, this is a ***** hot result, and 'spasiba' to them ruskies! people that are getting on da's case in these posts should think for a second, as good as this is, you dont think for a second that the comrades at M33 came up with this ***** do you? fair enough they made it, but where did they get the basics from?

This is a great firmware, but if you want to customize it, don't flash in a new system_plugin_fg.rco. Doing so will result in a semi-brick, and you'll need to reflash the firmware via recovery.

make sure in USB mode you don't have HEN for some reason...also, this is the first release of this, so if this is true just give them time. for your problems with flash agent, wait for a new release that adds capability for this custom fw. and the default gameboots and stuff arent so bad, just wait and in time all of these flashing programs will be updated for this cfw If i upgraded to this i would tell you that i have the same problem, but i dont plan on upgrading. i think im going to stick with 3.0.3 oe fw by DA for a while

Them only the 3 is a good way the other 2 sucks but then you must first upgrade to 1,5 so you can better do this stap 4 stap procedure: 1) find some good quick burning stuff like: gas/bezine etc. you can buy it a local shops or the gasstation and you can walk to there etc. 2) grap your PSP and trow the stuf over it. i think you hev a psp at 3.51 so that shouldn't be a problem else buy one and upgarde to 3.51 3) find a light just buy it if you don't have one at the supermarktet you can walk or drive to there 4) light you PSP just holf your light close to your PSP with the quick burning stuff at it 5) Your PSP is now what we call burnrading wait a while 6) turn your PSP back on and you're on 1,50 now 7) download de CFW at dl.qj.net at type searce 3.51 and download it. 8) open de manual with word or something en follow that instructions good luck:)

On the other hand, we still know nothing about the Team C+D dat created newer psardumpers. They also reverse engineered Dax his work. Point of my story is that the hacking of psp's isn't that revolutionair anymore so a lot of bull***** can be coded these days because anything is possible and still CAN rune your psp ! See the TONS of XMB flashers that are out, are they that safe ? NO some of them caused dozens of bricks, which are unreported. This seems a lote like DAX OE firmwares, yes theres a way to return to 1.5 fw(u have recovery mode, just like OE firmware) It doesn't got anything special, but u will be able to play games that need 3.50 or 3.51.I have found no problem with this. Recomended

battery icons

It seems that only battery icons do not work. Everything else in my theme works ok. If you have freezing issues try replacing your custom battery icon to the original battery icon. Probably due to 3.51, not this cfw. You don't really need flash agent, there is about 1mb free space on flash0 on this cfw. Just use hacker mode in pspfiler to flash your custom stuff...no need to relink dummy files. Also the xmb plugin still works so you don't need to flash your custom themes if you don't want to. Just remember to not put a custom battery icon into the TM/vsh/resource folder or it will not work.

As many are already finding out for themselves, there are many things with this custom firmware that are buggy. If you are considering using this, please note that : 1. Many Homebrew applications using network functions no longer work. 2. The battery icon cannot be changed. 3. The topmenu_plugin can not be changed for some users (Mine Can't, though I do use the JP version, Possible Explanation) 4. There is reported freezing when launching the initial setup, usb, and photo functions. This is only appearing when custom themes are applied. The original XMB works perfectly fine. 5. You are UNABLE to run both cwcheat for GAME and POPs at the same time. You will have to run one at a time. 6. Though this isn't a bug, its worth mentioning. The NO-UMD function (100%) has not yet been added, It can, but it hasn't yet. I do appreciate the developments we have so far, however, it is important not to ignore the bugs that are obviously present.

In other words..

1. Many network homebrew need the support of the community to rally for a reason to update them to work with the latest custom firmware. 2. The decompressed RCOs have been released on day one by the great Zinga Burga and xmb theme developers are already working hard towards customizing all aspects of the xmb. 3, 4. A lot of this was due to people flashing firmware 3.40 files onto firmware 3.51. Now with the correct files these issues may be fixed. 5. A new version of cwcheat was released today http://cwcheat.consoleworld.org/ compatible with this firmware. 6. Well 100% no-UMD has never really been 100% :D

i just thought i should mention that my custom xmbs worked fine with no custom opening when you turn your psp on and no custom battery icon..otherwise for me with either of these applied i had my psp freeze for playstion 1 games, pics and for my system settings..i'm assuming alot of other things would freeze with these two functions applied but never got that far..works great for me other than those bugs which i assume will be worked out soon

It is either because: Your GAME folder is set to 1.50 Kernel and you have placed the M33CREATOR folder in GAME340. Move the M33CREATOR folder to your GAME folder. or Your GAME folder kernel is 3.40 and you have placed the M33CREATOR folder in your GAME folder. Move this to your GAME150 folder.

You can't for a while. If you want to use custom firmware, you need a PSP with firmware 1.5, SE (Special Edition) or OE (Open edition). To do this, you need to downgrade your PSP to 1.5, and right now, is imposible to do with 3.51. Just wait until a exploit appear.

I've taken the liberty of examining the 'update' files before and after installation and compared it to DAX OE releases. I've noticed that theres ALOT of different things like module names and other misc. unknown files. In my experience of things like this. It's too much of a coincidence that 'team m33' had somehow managed to get a hold of DAX source files or else they wouldn't have been able to create this release in the first place. For those whom have been watching WAY too many hollywood films and even considering 'reverse engineering' technique is just plain wrong. Such thing "CANNOT" be achieved without proper knowledge of the encryption of the DAX OE releases. So I'm not going to go in much detail regarding that. My point is that I have this gut feeling that this could be 3 of the following. 1, a 'lucky' coincident for the homebrew community for they need another coder that understand the importance of the CFW releases. 2, DAX himself is behind this or even somehow involved to the creation of this. 3 and my MOST probable, is that this is Sony's way of 'countering' the HB Community and have encoded some *bad sequence that would hinder the use of iso's/wahtever it is they chose, not neccesarily straight away (as in straight after u install this) but to give them the upper hand to finally cripple the hb scene in a manner that they would control. For eg. They could have program this like they did to the TA-0XX mobos that if you were to downgrade to 1.50, you wont be able to go back to their more recent FW updates such as 3.30+. (I think it 3.30... correct me if i'm wrong) It could be something like that, that they could have planned but this installation alone isn't the 'trigger' just the key to the door as per say. Because after digging around this 'M33 3.51 CFW' release, I have noticed a few too many redundant files that could be nothing or could be something BIG. I implore for those who knows enough to execute such 'test' to do the same and perhaps you might see what I'm talking about and maybe even discover something concrete to this "theory" (hopefully). I do hope that this is just NOTHING and congratulate Team M33 to this recent 'most wanted' installation and it's successes. So don't flame me cos I spoke out 'honestly' and tend to have a more cautious way of seeing things... Any POSITIVE input/replies are welcome. Nothing that could initiate a thread war though. Cos your just wasting your time. Happy homebrewing to all...

I found these differences in the firmware When moving from a homebrew with Bakcground (PIC0) it lags slightly when moving to the next one. When entering USB mode it may say Please Wait... for a brief second. Oh and when your on the net you don't have to log back out to go to your RSS channels (That I thought was cool) I think its just a little slower because of all the stuff in the flash I am completely not customized because it has given me some problems. I still encourage you to update for all the new features. I'm getting a PS3 soon and this will be most handy. Cheers M33 btw IM RUSSIAN TOO!:D

Remote plays works?

I tried Remote Play with my PS3 and it doesn't work. You have to "pair" the psp to the ps3 via usb cable. I have the latest firmware installed on my ps3 and when I connect my psp under Register Device to pair it, it says no psp unit connected. I have even reset the psp to default settings and tried it again but still did not work at all. Did the M33 team remove functionality of the Remote Play feature in order to fit the cfw onto the psp? and of course Location Free Player is still missing (bummer) .... BUT other than that I have had nothing but success with the new M33 3.51 .... dunno why others are having freezing problems... I don't have that prob. OH also..... The recovery feature to load an eboot, is that for the original 1.5 eboot or for a specially made eboot for downgrading back to a specified firmware? I've noticed that documentation for this feature has flown the coop.

Stuff not working

Those complainig that some custom sh*it is not working for them are fuc*king idi*ots - excuse me the vocabulary. This is a new FW and many of the addresses/locations changed. It was the same before - you had to wait for your HB dev to update his app to new FW! It's not only about API, other stuff changes too. I'm a dev for PSP toolchain (and ported some of it's core modules), I know what I'm talking about. You should think twice before customizing new CFWs with old tools. Many of those screw with prx's, it is quite dangerous to take this lightly. You should be glad somebody picked up the torch for you noobs and allowed you to continue pirating. *sigh* As for the origin of the 3.51 - Russians are among the best when it comes to low-level stuff and reverse engineering (I have some Russian colleagues). This is true since the times of DOS and cannot be argued. In Russia, there are anti-piracy laws, but no sh*it like US's "digital legal act" etc. They can reverse what they want and Sony won't be able to touch them - that is in case they'd be SO DUMB as *****typants DaX to give interviews and sh*it. DaX wasn't doing it for YOU!! He was just building his ego, btw. CONSPIRACY THEORIES: comparing sizes and filenames and stuff - this is just crazy. The original FWs are constantly changing and you obviously are no dev, when you think that adding features means increasing the size. Even the opposite CAN be true. I think it's pretty much clear what happened here. M33 reversed DaX CFW and picked up where he left off, OR DaX gave them his sources. Either way. I might not like him (personally I mean, as I know him), but even he is not that self-centered. When he was threatened by Sony, he had to STOP instantly without revealing his KNOWHOW to anyone. Officially, he didn't, but in heart he's an "free to all" guy as most of us open source developers. I think he might have contacted some qualified ppl in a "free" country (Sony-reach-wise) and gave them his sources/knowhow. The fact I have to admit is that even if they reversed his stuff, they wouldn't be THIS ready to release so soon. I've done a lot of reverse engineering (I'm actually paid for it) and know what it takes. Just be cool, wait for updates if you're not satisfied now or go back to SFW. BUT if you use 3.51, stop bit*ching about and pay proper respect to it's authors. Nobody's forcing the new CFW down you throats, you can SAY NO. If you don't, shu*t up for good. I just hate all those "I don't trust the Ruskies" idi*ots. The Russian image as you see it is a product of their government, NOT THE PEOPLE. If you had to live in fear most of your live and fight for freedom, you wouldn't be whining here like this. They managed to reverse-engineer systemctrl.prx, reboot150.prx, and several other files, and I reverse-engineered the DXAR format and wrote my own 3.40 OE flasher that takes just one second longer than the official one. Middle Ground

I think homebrew is great, and this is an excellent step. However, piracy is not so great, and DOES slow development on the system. I think the M33 team should continue with custom firmware updates, but modified so that we can play all homebrew, but cannot play illegal ISOs. This way, $ony might not care as much, and might (just possibly) decide to embrace the scene. They HAVE done this sort of thing before with Linux for the PS2.

TA-082 vs Launch PSP

I have both psp and tested the CFW on both of them all day. The PSP from launch, the 3.51M33 works perfectly. The TA-082 experienced minor glitches. Especially with the web browser... It's either I can get the web to work but not the SEplugins or I can get the SEplugins to work but not the web.. I've tried a fresh install and resetting the default settings.. I believe the patch from the downgrader might be a cause.. Maybe Team M33 can look into that for a feature fix...

UMD Movie Region

The fake Region Code still doesn't work. I have like 5 Region 2 UMD movies, Equilibrium, Hellboy, Matrix Revolutions, XXX, and the Corpse Bride that I bought. I have Region 1 US PSP tested my Equilibrium in fake region and free region and it still doesn't work.

Still none of these CFW have a working fake region or free region to make ohter region umd movies work. It says it does but its not true. We need some developers to really find a way to Completely remove the Region code on PSPs so we can get all the cool movies that the US doesn't have on UMD without buy a foreign psp and vice versa.

Format your memory stick in psp. Put any umd disc (game,demo - not movie) in. Connect psp to the pc, and transfer iso/cso to ISO folder

Hey I was wondering how come when I load a ISO without a umd in the psp system it says game could not be started I thought 3.51 had a ISO loader in it

Yeah I also tried running USB connection on psp. when I was on 3.40 CFW all I had to do was plug it in to PS3 and baddaboom.... paired very easily...so at first I was trying to use that paired connection but it just didn't see it even tho the MAC addy is still the same (of course).....so after a few hours of trial-n-error...I deleted the pair and started all over again but to no avail.... Soooooo now I am going to try the WLAN fix and see if that was where the fault lies....

well it works now....paired just fine :) Of course the only drawback to streaming video from ps3 to psp is that by the end of the movie you could fry an egg on the psp..... that wifi gets very hot after awhile but I am happy now yee haa.....

Yes, I have with no hitches. After trying out 3.51 I thought it was buggy (even after increasing the CPU speed) and it had some problems with loading some of my ISOs (specifically the Japanese ones). So I returned to 1.5 and then went back to 3.40 OE. Guess I'll wait until a better version comes out. Nice effort though from the guys who came up with this CFW.

Anyone figure a downgrade from the 3.60 FW to 1.50 will come out within a month or two after the new PSP is released with it? or best to buy a PSP now before they're gone along with homebrew?

I have been using the 3.51 M33 edition and I have not encountered any problems at the moment. Just my own two cents but all these coders deserve our respect even if they are working off of Dark_Alex's designs. They are working to help us out and give us what we have been asking for. I have read many comments on the various scene sites saying that these guys are punks and YAMS and they make me sick. Do we really want these people to stop working on their projects? As for someone hex editing the M33 release so that it says OE, I would not, in good conscience load that on my PSP. That is a slap in the coder's face. DA is gone, don't give him credit where it is not due. His work may be the basis, but someone else has picked up his dropped torch.

RECOVERY FUNCTION DOES NOT WORK!

Recovery does not work....i tried to recover back to 1.5 and it jes hangs up....tried a different verison and it says that its a corrupted file...

do not officially upgrade any higher than 3.50

u still have a chance of downgrading to 1.50 using the illuminati exploit (you need to buy the original unpatched lumines umd) and then up grade to any of the custom firmwares (cfw)

I think he definately gave out his code. I think he contacted people before this incident. I think that they got there hands on the prior code and updated it. It's funny how no one came out with a CFW no better then this and this one matching almost practically the same. If anyone KNOWS HOW TO GET LEGEND OF LEGAIA working on the PSP please PLEASE contact me at my Aim= Crossedfists or Myspace which is the same.
