Playstation Forums: Firmware 3.90 fixes error 80048516? - Image 1Here's a possible feature for firmware 3.90 that wasn't mentioned in its official changelog. According to the residents of the U.S. PlayStation message boards, this latest firmware release also appears to fix the "error 0x80048516" that's been plaguing the handheld's owners last month.

The error, in case you're lucky enough not to experience it yet, prevented users from accessing their PC to upload games to their PSP via USB link. Major bummer for the guys who just blew their cash to get some PSOne titles loaded into their PSP.

It's also important to note that the new FW release doesn't appear to completely eliminate this problem.

While several users state that uploading 3.90 fixed the error, others in the thread report that that the update didn't help them at all, regardless if their unit was a PSP Fat or Slim. We'll let you know if more solid information can be found regarding this matter, or if Sony steps up with a proper fix for the said error.
