Persona also requires PSP Firmware 5.55 |
Ó
Gaming website Siliconera has managed to to grab an early build of the PSP remake of Persona and look what they found, the disc also comes with a mandatory update to OFW 5.55. It seems Sony is really determined to introduce a new anti-CFW feature on their continuing drive against homebrews. But you know the scene, they won't take this lying down. Stay tune.

That's sad...
so with the GEN-A CFW out...I see no reason for DAX/M33 to not crack the new one, then again who knows how many hours goes into this. I just hope to see a new M33 fw sometime soon. I heard its just the OFW that makes the GEN-A crash or something of the like
Armored Core 3 for the psp also requires the new firmware.
They're not on a drive against homebrews, there on a drive against piracy. Be fair to Sony, it's not like they're just heartless jerks who want to ruin your day. They are, after all, a commercial entity above all else, and piracy hurts there profits.
If piracy was that harmful, Wii, x360, NDS software sales would also be suffering, which doesn't seems to be the case. People who pirate usually can't buy originals at all, and they wouldn't play videogames if piracy wasn't possible. And if they're not on a drive against homebrews, why they didn't create some official way to use them? Being able to run stuff on user mode wouldn't harm the PSP in any way, unless they don't want you to be able to develop without generating any profit to them(Sony), which is, apparently, the case.
you couldn't be any wronger. The people who pirate are the most hardcore gamers, their usually the only ones who now how to do it. But when it comes to psp everyone pirates because it's so easy. This is the reason GTA Chinatown wars sold so badly on ds, because anyone who was interested in that game probably pirated the game while house moms who buy mario kart on wii don't know how to do stuff like that
extractly. Nothing wrong what with what sony is doing, infact they should be doing this a long time ago. They didnt advertise the systems to be homebrews compatible and let ppl pirates games for free. Its the pirates that buy the system only because they know the system is hackable.
DAX replied on his forum that he probably won't be doing any m33 for any 5.01+ FW for a while because there isn't any big features in those 5.5+ FW. Probably not until version 6 is out.
You can keep trying your stupid little tricks, but I'll just say this: You can never stop the homebrew community! So you can all just dream on about making the PSP boring and unhackable!
They are kinda trying to ruin our days... The reason I bought the PSP? To play homebrew, multimedia reasons, and portability. Without homebrew? It won't be as fun, because $ony refuses to do what the people wants. All they want is money!
Are you posting one of these for all PSP games that require 5.55? This is like the third time I've seen one of these "____ also requires PSP Firmware 5.55". Why not just make a list?
I read in the IRC PSP chans that follows the dev scene constantly that DAX's reason why he haven't been making new M33 CFWs is simply bcos of what the PSP had become. Apparently he's sick of the fact that games are barely being released for the PSP now days compared to before when games were releasing left right and centre, x2-4 different new games back then as I recall. Anyway, apparently he's got a working 5.55 that plays backups but releasing it publicly is another story. Especially considering the donation has dwindled to near non existent lately. That's what I've heard anyway... Imo, I agree with the lack of release(s) these days and since DAX is an obvious PSP lover as we all. It's all up to him if he ever releases a later CFW for us all. Worst comes to worst, we all suspected someone/another dev will just make another CFW ver but with the recent CFW releases, that looks like a VERY unreliable version imo. Surely it isn't the same quality as DAX's work by far. Whichever happens, I just hope Tekken 6 gets released accordingly before the end of this year. When that happens, I'll be glad to buy the retail just like I do with all the PSP games I enjoy and play constantly.
i agree with what your saying; I see no reason to release a new m33 firmware because there really is not great features in the new psp firmware. GEN firmware is sh17 and always will be sh17; they seem like they always want to be on top and first; like they are trying to steal the scene away from DAX; DAX earned his place among the modding legends, he throughlly tested each and every CFW release till he got it working the way he wants it. Then he just shared it with everyone. He does not owe anybody nothing. If he makes a firmware for him self (Which i imagine he did originally and still does) it is his choice whether to release it. or keep it stored on his computer. I will never use GEN for these reasons: 1. they are buggy as h311. 2. They are untested releases 3. They are ripoffs of m33 firmware (Reversed engineered DAX's) 4. i Don't trust them (Team GEN, pspGEN, ps3news.com, mirium, helldashX) because of the bricking crap they pulled in 3.52 firmware (They are all related in some way so i hold ALL of them responsible) I use m33/dax and will always use m33/dax. Simply put; if you like DAX's firmware, he might be more inclined to share it if you donate.
Heads up QJ Madden 10 has 5.55, and I am assuming so will Dissidia seeing as the normal trend.
OF COURSE they want money! That's the sole purpose for even doing what they do! And I hope I don't sound mean, because I'm really not. It's just the truth, buddy. That said, this is I believe the 3rd "big" PSP title to go 5.55... so, if this isn't a cue for DAX, I dunno what is.
