New version of Custom Firmware GEN already in the works?

Ok guys, this is not yet official but it looks like homebrew extraordinaire Yoshihiro and the rest of Team GEN is already working on a new version of Custom Firmware GEN.

Over at the PSPGen forums, Yoshi was asked if he can update his PSP Games Decrypter to counter the recently released PSP firmware 6.20, the dev simple replied:

I dont want release a new game decrypter but I release something it's a update of the GEN CFW because they have already the support for the game stuff .

So there you have it guys, just a heads up. Stay tuned for more updates.

It may be buggy but they keep making patches. I dont see whats the big deal with patches and DAX........well he dead! Dont remember where but he said he was going to make a CFW if there is a big update. 6.10 IS A BIG UPDATE AND DAX IS NO WHERE TO BE FOUND! GEN my be buggy but they are very alive and didnt just give up.

It's about time a new CFW is released not a patch to a old broken CFW. YES 550GEN is old and broken. It doesn't get on PSN, Multiplayer games don't work and new games don't work without patching them. All proof a new CFW is needed.

If GEN were good they would make a NEW CFW not patch 550GEN.

It's true that we are definitely overdue for a new CFW - and it is sorely needed, but let's not look a gift horse in the mouth. At the moment, it's not like there's a lot of competition for GEN, nor are they getting anything out of this. I think we should be happy with whatever they can cobble together, because it's more than we've seen out of any other CFW team this year.

I know GEN are the only team doing anything but it looks like they cant make a new CFW or it would've been out by now.

The last I heard is they are waiting as $ony will just make a new firmware and patch what they did. ARE THEY STUPID? OF COURSE $ony will do that. If they make a 620GEN a week later you will probably see a 621OFW but that 620GEN will be used for a good 6 months like 550GEN. A LOT of features will be working and easily patched. a LOT of people will be really happy and there will be a lot of people thanking GEN and donating to them. I have already said I will be donating to them as soon as a new GEN CFW comes out.

I donated to DA/M33 for 401M33 (I think it was 401M33?, might've been 500M33? All I remember is I donated to him for his great work.

Oh, SaDuWo, M33 did patches but they were usually addons, not fixes, and when a new OFW came out he would make a new CFW. GEN don't do that probably coz they cant.

In my experience the latest version of gens isnt buggy at all, and gens has support for all the latest plugins

The 5.50 fw uses the 5.00 keys that dark-alex cracked sometime ago.

as long as they can make that work then im a happy bunny (i thought the game was so good after D/L ing it i went and updated to 6.20, payed for the game and the extra pack for endless mode and then went back to gen, but the game kept crashing on start up =( )

6.20GEN is unlikely...they would have to decrypt the IPL and the Team is simply unable to do so. They had to bruteforce *pathetic* the remaining keys to make a 5.50 CFW.

So dont get your hopes up about a 6.xx CFW.

This new CFW will probably deal with the new encryption Sony has added. For those who haven't play Tekken 6 yet, the game eboot keys are no longer held in the FW. Meaning that all current game decrypters will be outdated.

This keys are now held in games, probably with more protection and different keys in each UMD and digital download. So just pray to whatever God you pray to that the keys are generated the same way and allocated the same.

Nuff' said.

Brute forcing doesn't take any skill besides getting lucky. Brute forcing is not beyond my skill lol, we all have the same chance to get lucky as a matter of fact. Maybe this is why GEN is so ripped on all the time....you might understand maybe when you have enough experience with the scene ;)

the team that made chikHen, had already hacked the go, but they are being childish elitists about it, that aside, go being hacked means that 6.xx hacking is completely possible, and in fact has already been done. Dont think that just because those power hungry tools on the Hen team wont release, doesn't mean some one else isn't going to figure it out.

To all those complaining about patching, if it can access the network, and you can play the newest games, what does it matter what the version number says?

ya, gen is doing a good job of keeping us working, that goes without saying. but one thing i do think is the major updates ans additions to a past firmware can cause some serious problems, so it would be a better idea to work with getting 6.XX cfw in the works. frankenstein cfw can last forever you know.

Hopefully this will be some kind of update allowing us to access the PSN Store since I don't have a PS3 to buy the games with.

Don't know how stable any of the GENs are so I'm still on 5.50 GEN-A ready to go back to 5.00 m33 with Hellcat's flasher. :|

I have no doubt that Dax is still the psp hacker he is, he just doesnt wanna hack the current firmwares! I have no trouble with 5.50 gen-c and i fail to see any difference between the latest m33 and gen. Except for the memory stick access speed up feature, but i dont really need it! If dax doesnt wanna hack 6.10 or 6.20 fine! He doesnt have to,we have perfectly fine devs on team GEN. But it doesnt mean i dont like m33. If dax hacks the latest firmware, i would surely update. If gen hacks the latest firmware, i would update to that as well.

btw, I'd like that GEN would release 6.00 so I could use my Go!Cam black, hope they can do it, 5.50 GEN-D3 won't work with the new Go!Cam because the file is in 6.xx firmwares not 5.xx nor inferior.

6.20gen will be made or any 6.20cfw but don't forget 6.30 and 6.31. psp's updates well always be
don. they are still working to make some new updates so they'll completely block the hbl 2.
