Nate ... this is a firmware launcher. It is not even a firmware itself. You have to get the firmware itself then using this launcher to load the firmware in your 1.5 firmware or 1.0 firmware. It basically loads the firmware from the memory stick but it does not flash your psp. So, you not have to worry about your current firmware being changed.

If you do not know the theory how this luancher work, it is recommended that you do not attempt to use it at all. Until someone comes up with a tutorial on using it. Best for you to stay clear of it.

Cheers.

the documentation clearly states that the webbrowser does not work as well as some other functions.

I can't get it to launch 2.0 on 1.5 though. I followed the converting guide included, but couldn't get it to launch 2.0. Dumped 2.0 myself and double checked file count and directory structure. Still it wouldn't launch 2.0....

claude, I had trouble getting 2.0 running with it at first as well. Make sure you aren't using the FLASH1 files included with the firmware launcher. I had to copy my own using the PSP File Assistant programme mentioned in the tutorial. It worked like a charm after that.

@ sam: What are you on about? This has nothing to do with yoshihiro! If you go to the MPH website and check out the forums, you'll find no love for yoshi there:

So I guess it's you who's been "poroved rong", whatever that means...

"Suck it from u idiots" ???

Right... I dumped 2.00 and then I dumped the flash1 from my freshly downgraded 1.50. I loaded the firmware... ohh pretty looks like 2.0. Let's start on the left:

Settings: All work fine, was able to enable my background image.
Photos: Wow, doesn't show any at all even though I know I have some.
Music: Tons of MP3's in there, doesn't even open the menu to show them.
Videos: Shows the videos, crashes when starting to play one.
Games: Sadly I don't have any 2.0 required games to test out.
Internet: Browser DOES NOT START AT ALL.

I was also able to get the loader to give me the blue screen of death (PSP Style, ala downgrade). Another thing, USB mode works except for the fact that when I try and transfer something big the PC gives me a "CRC" error.

Can somebody confirm that this launches 2.0 games like GTA: LCS? I hope it does because then I can downgrade my 2.0 to 1.5 again. I had to upgrade to be able to run it.

I'd like to second e-vix's comment. I have Socom FTB and, as we all know, boots on 2.0 firmware, just like GTA. If this will allow me to play these games (since they need the firmware with the codec support), then would this firware loader work? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks to all who are working very hard in the PSP scene!

Can you load firmware 1.5 on firmware 2.0? If so, is it possible to load a game with the loaded 1.5 firmware?

hey greycellgreen, you are right, but it still doesn't work. You are right that I didn't use the flash1 from my psp. But even now that I copied the files using file assistant from my PSP, it still wouldn't boot. Still acts the same.

Pressing x to activate emulation reboots my psp and brings me to the blue screen with texts in different languages saying settings have been changed, press O to restore... i'm forced to press O and it resumes 1.5...

Okay, so I read mph forum and learned that I had to "restore system settings" before copying the flash1 files.

firmware 2.0 will boot, but it won't load GTA:LCS or ANY game for that mater(even 1.5 and below games). Of course the webbrowser doesn't work as stated in the readme.

Wallpaper function works but only if the image sits in the theme folder under vsh directory.

Nice to see that it actually runs 2.0, but just not full fledge to perform much.

After about an hour of downgrading, extracting, renaming etc. I finally came to the conclusion that you cann't run any programs on the 2.0 firmware loaded with the MPH Firmware loader. I tried GTA:LCS and NFS Most Wanted and neither one loaded.

Nothing really works with it yet except the theme.. when you click on the webbrowser the memory stick lights up and nothing happens. Same thing with trying to run a umd. Music and photos are not reconized but it is so cool that it actually loads firmware 2.0!! keep up the good job

So is this something I can use to play games that require 2.0, without actually 'upgrading' my system to 2.0? Do I have to go through a downgrade process to get back to 1.5?
