Mack explains 6.00 MAC-B beta with a video

When Team Mack's CFW 6.00 MAC-B video surfaced, the word "fake" was echoed in forums and comments sections all over the interwebs. Insisting that they're legit and their work will indeed be downloadable in the future, Mack posts another vid explaining everything. Some of you may have seen this one already, so bear with us.

Mack is short for the two guys working in the team, Matt and Jack. As they've said through their vid, we'll be seeing more vids from them, updating us with their work. They also sent out a special mention to FreePlay, who might've been playing spelling police over there. But what do you guys think? Share your thoughts.

This video could have been posted in the other article, considering video was posted several days ago. Making 2 news posts regarding an already established fake firmware is really unprofessional. I understand it causes a flood of comments and helps boost advertising revenue, but the site is slowly becoming less about quality news and more of a rumor bin.

Reply to the stupid video. Don't think you be getting any supporting comments! I think it's very rude to attack against any person in the video (FreePlay in this occasion). If hacking would be that easy, a new custom firmware would have been released a long time ago. Your timing was bad, like you said. Don't try to prove anything. If you dont like QJ, dont read it. It's simply a news site. Oh noz, they arent lightning quick. Maybe readers should send emails pointing things out like this if you worry about it being updated with news right as it happens.

I daresay most people who read this site dont spend days dedicated to simply slouching in front of their PCs combing every source of info on the net. They come here to get a quick recap of various topics, regardless of what they are, and choose just to read only the headlines they want.

Some people sure whine a lot, considering its a free news source.

most of us are checking qj about 2 times a day in hopes of getting the real news, of a cfw, and this is the second time you made me waste time reading crap..

any person who's spending countless hours debugging fw and trying to crack it will:

1. be active on some website now or in the past digging info or already be an known member of the dev community, not some kids no one heard of that figured it out all by themselves.

2. they'll seek approval or whatever they want on forums dedicated to this sort of thing. not the youtube crowd that mostly doesn't know what fw is...

You know, sometimes I wish that developers would stop being divas. Everyone gets so pissed off when people flame them or accuse them of being fake. You know what the ultimate response to that kind of attack would be? Releasing a kick ass CFW, which is what you are setting out to do in the first place. Yeah, people are *****s and most of them probably don't deserve what you are doing, but that's always going to be the case with whatever you do.

If you're going to do something, do it because you want to, not because you're craving some kind of acclaim from the bunch of whiny, illiterate 12 year olds that make up the majority of the homebrew scene.

Has anybody else even INSTALLED 6.00?

I tried it on both my 1000 and 2000, and the System Settings icon has changed to something smaller, like the Go. I didn't get a good look in the first video, but it looked like the symbol was the same as older firmwares.

I'm not with Team MACK, and I do think they're blowing some amount of smoke, but dont blame QJ for posting it -- If you're going to be a news site that aims to be moderately complete, you post the possible fakery going "We dont know if this is fakery, but its sure interesting."

1. They say that they cant load games yet cos the drivers are screwed but they can load plugins, this is BULL*****! how can they mess an important feature up of an OFW, if they have, then these guys dont know what they are doing.

2. When was CXMB released for 6.00?

3. Under network ther should be 2 options

1. Update via Internets

2. Update from Storage device

what they removed it from the menu to save space, this is BULL*****! too cos they wouldnt be able to rewrite the entire firmware from scratch, if they have then they is better than SONY n we wouldnt have to worry about OFW releases cos these guys could write us a new firmware with evreything working for months to come.

4. Who the ***** is Team MACK? they came out of nowhere to say they have made a CFW, since when has someone decrypted a firmware and made it into CFW the day the actual OFW comes out.

I can think of one person DAX but even he wouldnt decrypte it and CFW it in a day cos theres gonna be changes in firmware that has to be analysed first before going ahead with his work.

5. Since when does a firmware support an array of kernals cos i seen them using 3.XX kernal on what supposed to be 6.00.

if u think this is real then u are a retard just like these guys just wanting attention.

what they showed u is all hex edited from TEAM GENs 5.50CFW

and for all u noobs they probably flashed the plugins so they wouldnt need the memory stick cos plugins work from flash aswell.

It's to funny sitting here watching people BiT[h about something that will be free. If this group "MACK" is really working on dropping a CFW for us end users. Why not allow them the proper time and respect to do so. If they released the firmware most of y'all would still BiT[h and moan that DAX needs to release a CFW. The point that people need to remember, nobody needs to do $h!t. Just be happy somebody is taken the time to do this so we can enjoy our community like before, with newer games, features if there are some added, homebrew and so on. To sit here and complain over something that is free qualifies you as a troll, d!khead, & whiny BiT[h.

I hope this group or whatever group decides to release a CFW the best and I hope that they continue their work.

I agree with this guy. Do any of you know how to produce custom firmware? Don't you think there would be a FEW issues with reverse engineering a firmware that you've never tried to reverse before? Give these guys a break and let them try without all of the flaming. You kids are just annoying with all of the impatience, selfishness, and utter stupidity that you've been spouting all over the net. I can almost guarantee you that that's the reason that DA is delaying making a new CFW, because half of you are morons about it. Be satisfied with what you have. After all, like this dude said, it's all free. The developers don't HAVE to do this. It's their hobby. I understand that this may be fake, I'm not saying that it's not, I'm just saying, give people a chance. If they release a CFW and it's good...awesome. If not. Oh well.

These guys talk about so called drivers which are there to begin with, making a custom firmware is mostly a matter of patching the various checks performed by the kernel.

They claim their firmware cannot run games meant for firmware revisions higher than 3.51, yet they claim to be running the 6.00 kernel, but the game keys should all be in mesg_led.prx (including the 5.55 keys) which is part of the kernel to begin with.

They also never released a thing all they seem to be able to do is to make fake vids.

Of course this is obviously a fake and I always had a hard time understanding why people would waste their time making pointless fake videos. I guess those people and I are just another league or so it seems.

People should stop spreading rumours and only believe what is real and proven.
