Incoming: PSP Firmware update 3.51 to fix security issues |

Steel your hearts, members of the PSP community. We've picked up word of the PSP's FW 3.51 being released over at Japan's PlayStation site. The single item this update carries appears to be a fix for what Sony has described (in Babelfish) as a "vulnerability of security."We're not too sure just what vulnerability the company has in mind, although it's very ominous that this updates comes in just days after Noobz team announced their Illuminati exploit, and followed up with a FW 3.50 downgrader soon after.
As we said earlier, we advise the guys to keep their cool until more details can be verified, probably when FW 3.51 hits stateside.

Like the first comment said the war has been lost. Sony keeps on putting them up and the psp homebrew community just keeps knocking them down. Sony should just give up. Thanks to homebrew my psp is now a remote control, radio player, remote pc viewer, N64, SNES, and it has a custom XMB along with tons of other homebrew. Homebrew rocks!!!!

I find it ironic that Asian users are complaining about the lack of functionality on the Japanese UMD. I've seen two videos in the past week of store owners showing off the Magical Memory Stick + downgrading PSP's. If you're too impatient to wait for Noobz to come up with a solution, then find those stores and get the downgrade done there.

Good idea *****-o. Let Sony just give up and stop releasing updates alltogether. Hell, they should have given up a long time ago. I'll make it clear for everyone. 3.50 is the ONLY firmware that's downgradeable with the Noobz downgrader.
Not 3.51, or any other version.
If you where at 3.0, you had to up it to 3.50
So, I'll say it again, These is *NO* 3.51 downgrader.
And I bet there will not be fore quite some time. It took from 2.8 to 3.5 to find this one, so don't count on another one. It might happen tomorrow, it might happen in a year and a half, or it might not happen at all.
LOL who ever upgraded ALREADY should blow up their PSP. With that said, lets just hope they don't patch Lumines. It might be pointless to do so, but you never know. Sony is pretty relentless in fighting this war...

If you upgraded to 3.51, follow this handy step by step guide:
1. Reture your PSP to the store you bought it from; if you cannot, sell it used to another person
2. Buy a DS
3. Buy and play games on your DS. You are not worthy of owning a PSP and having free 1337 homebrew and hacked games.
Some people buy games. I get them for free. :-D

The comment i made wasn't about updates period. It was about security updates to stop downgrading. Sony doesn't need a downgrade war to release good updates. That is why updates should be released period, so that they fix or make something better. No one wants to update to fix some bug no one has even heard of. For instance i stayed on 3.03 until 3.40 was released just so i could get a different brightness level. Hats off to the guys at sony for the longest list of updates in Handheld History.

Sony is not going to stop releasing security updates dude. They want their handheld to do what they want it too. And by that, I mean they dont want it to be playing .ISO and all of that *****. The downgrader that was release, just cost A LOT of money for developers. Because we all know full well that the greatest thing about custom firmwire is the ability to pirate games. And I bet that most people only wanted to downgrade just so they wouldn't have to pay for their games. Do you guys really thing that people move to custom firmwire JUST for the homebrew games and applications? We are killing the PSP slowly, and eventually there wont be anymore games to pirate, anymore firmwire to crack. Nothing new to look forward too, because when they give up security updates they wont release anymore updates at all. Whats the point? The hackers and homebrew developers can do it all anyway. Its like a chunk of wood with a piece of sandpaper, every time someone moves onto cfw, sony runs that sand paper across that chunk of wood. And soon that wood will be gone. vista is the biggest hunk of crap ever put out in the market u know there are 3 reasons they did that. 1 piracy to prevent it. 2 to copy what mac did when they made mac os X. 3 to look good as there are so called "newer things" and compatibilities that can be set with the new os they can go threw lawsuits after lawsuits of look alike software that they themselfs stole.
