Ó

Recently you have been hearing about work being done on getting out an easy to install modchip, that would allow you to run multiple firmware versions on the same PSP, and probably do many more things. Such modchip has yet to be released though, and PSP fanboys are growing anxious. As a solution to this problem, they made their own! Here we have four successful attempts to run multiple firmware versions on the same PSP. Now they aren't as pretty as the modchip that will be eventually released, but these bad boys still work, and also gave a sense of accomplishment.

Next time avoid using a butane soldering iron. Warping chips is never a good thing. :P

are these for real?? as there isn't a psp in the picture,

first 1 looks like all the wires are touching,

2nd one looks pretty tidy tho,

3rd one requires you to lug a pc round with you,

and the last one just looks like some wires and a lot of sellotape strapped to a circuit board,

Ookm has been doing this firmware thing for months, deffo real, loads of pics, loads of screenies of various diff. firmware version PSPs with 'new' chips, plenty of discussion check out mph's website for more details :)

Nems looks worst of the lot, tip: don't mod PSPs in the middle of a bout of influenza if u want to avoid goo on ur PSP.

# where to solder for ps2 controller?Guest 2006-06-23 09:18
is there anyone who has figured out the soldering points to connect a ps2 controller? obviously it's possible since the psp2tv adapter adds dual shock support, but i haven't heard any mentions of it other than that

# good ideaGuest 2006-06-23 14:39
Yes, I'm with DarkPacman77... someone ought to start a site for building these mods and eventually post schematics on how they accomplished it. To be able to create your own mod would bring on a greater sense of accomplishment then just purchasing a pre-done kit - in my honest oppinion.

# Good griefZenoz 2006-06-23 15:07
If that unit works, it is quite a accomplishment.

Even with instructions you must be very good at electronics to duplicate that.

As I said, if that works.. congratulations . Very clever.
