Gamespot rumor control: PSOne emulator for PSP |

It appears that an article written on Wednesday on PSPupdates about a PSone emulator being made by Sony for the PSP appears to have gotten quite a bit of media coverage today. GameSpot's rumor control have tackled this story, in an article that begs the question, bogus, or not bogus?The official word from a Sony representative is "There has not been any official imagery released from Sony Computer Entertainment showcasing the PS one emulator on PSP. Please disregard those images as false." The GameSpot article then goes on to question the legitimacy of the images posted, which we also covered on Wednesday, claiming that they are fake because the wavy lines are exactly the same in all 3 of the images, when the lines are supposed to move.
On the other hand, these errors could be due to the images being a conceptual mock up of the actual interface, prepared by Sony. GameSpot also claims that the parental control could be proof of the images being real, as it shows too much attention to detail for a fake.
In conclusion, GameSpot rumour control believes the images are a fake, because they believe Sony rumor control would have intervened if the images were correct. But could this be a bit of Sony reverse psychology? - make your own mind up!

why? more than likely when sony releases the update with ps1 emu, the only games they will supply are sony owned titles (at least at first). sony will have to get permission to redistribute non-owned titles like doom (like shown on the pix).

Ok, I am not trying to diss PSPUpdates or anything, but feel the need to make a few comments. This site has been posting a number of rumors that turn out to be false in the end. While I do not mind a few rumors (hey, this is a news site, as with most mediums for delivering news this site would have fillers as well) perhaps a bit more caution should be exercised and if a story is not confirmed that should be stated in the title or first few sentences of the article. As far as homebrew goes this site does keep people mostly up to date, but as far as any other PSP related news goes it is pretty much like reading a tabloid I picked up at a grocery store. Go ahead and post whatever you desire but please check your sources and confirm rumors before stating them as fact.
Oh, and the anonymous comments have to go, anonymous posters are turning the comment sections into a total cesspool.

EVERY site posts rumors like this. TechEblog, engadget you name it, they all post these stupid rumors and everyone go crazy. In the end, none of it matters. Things will happen when they happen and the speculation and fake pics and over reactions are all something to laugh at while it happens for me.
And on that note, i'm still not paying 15 bucks to play the same games I already own and paid 50 for at one time. If they were 5, fine, but i'm not paying 15.
Sony isn't as bad as EA, but they are sure getting closer every day.
I hope someday, some big name company would pull their heads out of their own butts and liten to the customers.

how can you make a ps1 emulator without 2 anolog sticks and l1 are l2 and r1 and r2 it's impossible you have have to change all the controles
