Sony has just released Firmware 3.11 for their PSP handheld. This update fixes the freezing bug found in the downloadable-for-PSP title R-Type.Apart from the bug fix, we don't have any details yet on what security patches are included in the new firmware (if there are any, that is). You can download it below, or better yet, wait until 3.11 OE rolls around. Word has it in various forums that there aren't any big changes in the core module, so theoretically, it would be easier to crack than 3.10.
Still, it's highly encouraged that you wait for further details before making any updates. Hey, 3.10 was decrypted within 24 hours anyway, so we all shouldn't have to wait that long. Download link's below in case you guys want to tinker with it.

Why do you even provide a download link if you advise people not to update. The people who update will probably do it via network update anyway.

I agree. D_A should take a rest for himself, and wait until the next real firmware release (unless this turns out to have some updated POP functionality that wasn't mentioned).

i think sony are panicking because every firmware they release are getting hacked. I bet they have rushed the release of this new firmware and can be hacked within a week!!

well...i dont play much iso or UMD games...so i guess i wont keep on flashing my psp...getting really annoying, also scared that one day the flash would die out somehow. But all these sony updates are pretty pointless.

Oh please, before 3.00 you cannot have good emulation of PSX
Before 2.7 - You cannot have flash player on internet
Before 2.5 - You cannot have good movie codecs
Before 2.0 - You cannot have internet browser
Before 1.5 - You cannot do most.
This already decrypts fine with the last psar dumper mod from D_A.Just a heads up.

Without these updates from Sony you would have had nothing from Dark_Alex...think before you speak! Give Dark_Alex the credit he deserves but being a Sony basher just because they care about their product is just stupid!

You should just ignore this update and save your energy for Downgrading future Sony FW updates. BTW THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH for your 3.03 downgrader, with your help i was able to hook up all my homies with the best the psp has to offer, thanks again. Will send donations when i can :)

This was easy to decrypt. (THEDEVIL did it fairly easily). there are few security patches in it.
they want to change the encryption for the NEXT firmware and this firmware would be the only one that could read it
wow. Dark Alex can patch a firmware problem quicker than sony does by a few days. long live homebrew!
also without the sony updates there would be no CFWs, because the CFWs are basically the highest decrypted sony firmware of the time it was released, plus 1.5 subsets and some extra stuff thrown into the pot. but to make this is still pretty damn f**king hard

i think it's only meant as a bugfix like the poster said, added security measures probably just a feeble attempt that sony must include to make others think they're still trying to block access to homebrew. I'd say skip the 3.11 OE dark_alex, take a rest and wait until an actual game requires such an update.
by the way, is there even a game that needs something higher than 3.0? besides psx games...until a new REAL firmware is out, coders should just concentrate on 3.10, making it better and maybe some new homebrew...

Who are you to say "WE".... if you want to take on the challenge in hacking be my guest.. Don't say stuff that you won't even put effort to do...
Is it me, or since 2.70 has firmware become easier to hack? I mean. 2.70 comes out, and maybe two weeks later, it's decrypted (I don't know the exact amount of time). 2.71, decrypted the same day. 2.80, another two weeks. 2.81, zero-day, 3.00 takes a couple weeks, then 3.01, 3,02, 3.03, 3.10 and 3.11 all get decrypted on zero-day. Is Sony even trying with this encryption any more? Can they even put up a fight against homebrew? At this point, they should give up fighting homebrew and sanction it in some sort of sandbox, like they did with the PlayStation (Net Yaroze), PS2, and PS3 (Linux), or Microsoft is doing with the X360 (XNA). Put some sort of Java on here, or help out with µClinux.

I need help. I have been out of touch with the homebrew community for a while and I want to know if there is any way to put homebrew on my PSP which has 3.10 firmware on it. I used to have a bunch of emulators on my PSP back when I first bought it. But I started upgrading firmware right around the time that Sony put out the web browser and I haven't tried homesrew since. Please help
I need help. I've been away from the homebrew scene for quite a while, and I want to know if there is any way of running homebrew on my PSP which has 3.10 firmware on it. I used to have a lot of emulators on my PSP back when I first bought it, but started doing updates fight around the time that Sony put out the web browser for the PSP. And since I bought the PS3 and wanted to have the interconnectivi ty with it continued doing updates every time SOny put them out. But if there is any way of running Homebrew on it I would love to try it.

i think we should all calm down on updating with the newest custom firmware until like other people have said sony releases a major update with new features in it.maybe dark alex, fanjita,and anybody else whos got the know how could come up with a moddifide custom firmware that would have new features like editing the wave screensaver in the psp xmb,the choice to change your default game boot screen,the option to turn off the auto update when connected to the internet with wifi point,a password needed to power on psp,the ability to transfer mp3 files from psp to psp through the wifi or irda port just like on mobile phones(i think movies would take to long to transfer and would eat the battery) and other stuff that i cant think of right now but the point is why not give the developers some time to bring out some decent homebrew instead of moaning for them to keep up with the minor updates from sony

The gta:lcs exploit in 3.03 has been patched. you'repretty much screwed for now. and for remote play you don't need to update the psp. you only need to update the ps3 to keep online functionality

they really need to stop with the god damn firmware updates n stuff..... let's see now.... 1.51, 2, 2.01, 2.5, 2.6, 2.61 (i think), 2.7, 2.71, 2.72, 2.73 (i think), 2.8, 3, 3.01, 3.02, 3.03, 3.1, now 3.11 .
And do we have any real significance in ANYYYY of these updates besides:
-Rss Support
-A web browser
-psone games taht we need a *****in $1000 ps3 for.... unless we use the almighty power of homebrew, the only thing still keeping most ppl to the psp despite soem pretty sickass games out right now.

There is enough of a reason to make a 3.11 OE. One being that its another firmware cracked and customised and two being that it COMES with the fix with that ps1 game.
Also, if its renamed to 3.11 OE-A, then the firmware is 3.11 OE-A. L2forum

If you update to this fw YOUR SCREWED 3.03 has a downgrader and thats the highest. Only DAX fw's and 1.5 can run homebrew. Hope that answers your question :)
So basically 1.5 people, INSTALL DARK_ALEX's CUSTOM FIRMWARE. you get the features of the 3.02, 3.03, etc. with the homebrew freedom of 1.5. SO, sell your soul to DAX for firmware :)
