Firmware 2.80 to 2.71 downgrader for TA-079 - TA-086 PSPs *UPDATE* |

Adding to the huge list of hacks and exploits in the last few weeks is another piece of work by 0okm, this time a firmware 2.80 to 2.71 Downgrader for TA-079 - TA-086 PSPs. What this means is that 2.80 people who're stuck with a TA-082 or TA-086 PSP can now downgrade to 2.71, and from there, downgrade to 1.5 using Dark_AleX's TA-082 downgrader. Once on 1.5, it has been proven that everyone - including TA-082ers - can upgrade to 3.02 OE-B and have all the fun that the rest of the PSP public is having.
But just like the last downgrader by 0okm, don't expect it to be as easy as a downgrader by Dark_AleX. He seems to be not releasing the downgrader in public: You have to mail him and ask for it. While it would take me two minutes to mail him and obtain the downgrader and post it here, I will respect his decision of not releasing this in public.
To ready yourself for the downgrade, here's a list of things you need:
- The latest PSARDumper.
- Firmware 2.71 Update Eboot.
- PBP Unpacker.
- The actual downdater. (Available on request)
Here are the steps you need to take:
- Open Firmware 2.71 Eboot in PBP Unpacker.
- Extract the DATA.PSAR file somewhere on your PC and move it to the root of your Memory Stick. (On helper PSP with 1.5/2.71/2.71SE/3.02OE firmware)
- Extract and run the latest PSARDumper on the helper PSP.
- Press Circle when in PSARDumper to dump encrypted without sigcheck and dump reboot.bin.
- Once the DATA.PSAR file has been dumped, move the newly created folder to the PSP which you want to downgrade.
- Obtain the Downdater from 0okm and use the noobz team's xLoader to run the Downdater.

UPDATE: 0okm is finally releasing the "golden" downgrader file (as regarded by not a few) to the public. According to him, his inbox was flooded by requests for the file. So to avoid having sore fingers replying to every single request, he just made it available for everyone. Still, as 0okm himself warned, just get it if "if you know HowTo use and can take the Risk."

Yes, only 2.81, 2.82, 3.0 and then my 3.01 to exploit now. It looks like a collaboration has been made between D_A and ookom as ookom is using D_A's Downgrader to help downgrade to 1.5. Good job, but plz release it in public, let those dumbasses brick their psp's it's their own fault.

They actually dislike each other quite a lot. In fact, when D_A and Mathieulh released their TA-082 downgrader, 0okm went so far as to say it didn't really exist. This is about as much collaboration as there would be between me and Microsoft for the fact that I use their OS.

He still hasn't proven anything. He just took D_A's downgraders, and combined it with the other 2.8 downgrader. That doesn't prove that he was ever able to do anything on a ta-082
"Proven?" My ass. 0okm said that a TA-082 that was downgraded through software would NOT be able to use a regular update EBOOT. He also said that downgrading would require that he get a RAM dump from the TA-082 and create a special, unique firmware dump BY HAND. None of this ever turned out to be true. There's a universal TA-082 downgrader for 2.71 that doesn't require any of that garbage, and you most certainly CAN upgrade after downgrading.
The last time 0okm did something like this, it was fake! It´s probably just one more fake! in a few days, something stupid will happen, that will prevent him from giving out the downdater.... soooo f***cckiiiinng FAAAAAKEE!!!!

I didn't dump my own firmware. When you do an PSAR dump, the files from DATA.PSAR inside the 2.71 update EBOOT are decrypted and saved. Not the installed firmware.

Because a 2.80->1.5 downgrader has already been made, but a ta-082 can't downgrade to 1.5 normally. If you mean a 2.80->1.5 downgrader specific to ta-082 using dark_alex's newly released source code, its probably cuz that would take alot of work, with relatively little tangible benefit. And either way, 0okm seems to be more the type to get it done quick and dirty, rather than slow and refined.

Did you use the 2.71 dump by Generous Helper? Or did you use something else?
Maybe this will stop people from talking trash about him, when in reality he is a great dev? If you have to ask him for the downdater he took time and effort to create, you will not only notice he is a PERSON just like everyone else, ans also appreciate what he has done for you and your PSP.

BrewScene will be back to life as it was in the beginning. You guys mustv'e easily forgotten what happened last time 0okm released a downgrader. It was proven to work, but due to a lot of idiots bricking their PSPs, a lot of other other devs wanted him to seize giving a link out for download. I'm guessing the same applies to this downgrader. It's only for the people who have experience working with downgrading and flashing and not for those who are feint at heart.

i've only had a psp since christmas but why would someone make a downgrader for 3.00, 3.01, 3.02 and 3.03? why not make a downgrader for the newest version that everyone could upgrade to then downgrade to 2.71 then 1.5?

Notix I know it's hard but be patient... a few months ago some people were saying TA-82's would likely NEVER be downgraded to 1.5 (these people were high) now the scene has the PSP softened up like WARM BUTTA.... I think a DG'er for later firmwares is closer than most realize. I think its very possible that 3.X could prove to have some new exploits due to new features which would mean skipping a DG'er for 2.81-2.82 and DG'ing directly from 3.X firmware. (meaning all the 2.81-82'ers would upgrade THEN downgrade =P) This is of course conjecture and is to be taken with a grain of salt. Keep in mind though- Trolls are quick to say "HA you can't downgrade and it's gonna be FOREVER!!!!" Don't listen to this nonsense... Just be patient - don't upgrade, and your time will come. -BUTTA

Ookm ROCKS! Anybody disses him and says this is fake IT'S NOT FAKE I JUST TRIED IT AND IT WORKS! I was trying to make a proof video but it didn't go so well... It shows the whole "IC1003" part, shows my FW is 2.80, shows xLoader 280 launching and shows up to firmware being flashed and shows the "power off to complete" part and then my camera ran out of room lol. I had to delete some stuff and then continue where it left off. Next part shows it still says "power off to complete" and I power off. Next I reboot and it gives the BSOD and then my cams batteries die lol. I changed them and continued at the BSOD. Go through settings, and show that FW is now 2.71. I wanted it to be a one-peice video to not invite any doubt that it is in fact all the same PSP, and I was mad that this crap happened so probably nobody will care to see it uploaded in it's 3-part glory lol. But yes hail Ookm this works awesome work man!

You're not any closer to being able to downgrade just because 2.80 can. 2.81 doesn't have any usermode exploit yet, but once (if) one if found, we have automatic kernal access (which means downgrader) because of an exploit recently found, we just need some usermode access to launch a dger

I have respect for 0okm and I think he is a great dev, but I am really not sure what he is trying to accomplish by requiring people to e-mail him for the file. This is only going to end with brickers. With no official download source other than 0okm's e-mail, people will end up downloading them from links instead. This holds a high potential for the release of brickers. As far as seeing him as a person, it can't be expected or forced. If he wants to be seen as a person, he should take the attitude of Fanjita. I successfully downgraded my psp with this. Now I am ai 3.02 OE-B. If you need any help pm me my username in this forums is Ashhh. Be careful, I almost started eloader to do this. BUT THANK GOD THAT I DIDN'T.
the other 4 files come from the downdater files... so it comes with the downdater when you download it and you have to make sure that those 4 are included and you wont be missingany.. make the F0 folder on the pc first cause for some reason on my psp it erased thoes 4 when i used winrar to extrat them and i too was missing 4 till i figured out thst it was the 4 that are included in the downdater download.. ok that clear enough.. it does too work all you doubters out there calling Ookm a liar and a fake

lol don't talk that way about Ookm. He deserves a freakload of respect for this. I tried this and it worked like a freaking charm! Yes Dark_AleX is awesome, but without Ookm (who is also awesome) there is missing a HUGE piece of the puzzle. For instance, I was running FW 2.80 on a TA-082 PSP. Thanks to Ookm I was able to downgrade to 2.71 and use DaX's 2.71 to 1.5 DG and then upg to DaX's 3.02 OE-A. None of those DaX released tools worked for me until Ookm saved the day. Ookm and Dark_AleX you are both great dev's who release awesome stuff. Thanks to both of you I have newer firmware with full homebrew support.

I guess many of you don't realize that OOKM been rumored to be using flash tools to harddown peoples psps for money for some time (this involves opening the psp) as well as selling harddowned psp's on ebay. (these are the TA-82 1.5's that were showing up all over via ebay prior to Dark_Alex's TA-82 DG'er release) He claimed in the past to have softdown methods he bragged all over about, that he did not release... (keep it to yourself - what a joke?) He has claimed in the past that NO TA-82 could softdown to 1.5 only to backpedal recently and say that ta-82 could softdown to 1.5 but only with the "proper hacks" but that no official sony eboots could be run after that if it was achieved or some eboots but not others blah blah blah.... ALL FALSE I could go on and on... but the guy pretty much a clown so why bother?

Bleh, there would have been no saving it; my little bro accidentally updated me to 2.81 from 2.80 when he tried to play MGS:PO without doing the UMD swap trick... So in the end, I ended up upgrading to 3.00.

i been out of it for awhile i had a psp 2.8 awhile back, still have and people said wait for a downgrader to come out so you can downgrade to 1.5 to play those sweet iso files you have flooding your hard drive couple months later im back and i see people downgrading with ookm downdater"risk involved" no problem now i see people going 2.8 > 1.5 >3.02 im little confused they cand still play iso at 3.o2 or something like playing ps1 backups and homebrews but still i just trying to play iso, homebrew whatever but 2.8 no good so downgrade and everything should be fine right.......
downgrade, then upgrade to DarkAlex's custom firmware version of 3.02. it is called 3.02OE-A. then add the update to 3.02OE-B. then you will have all of the functionality of the real sony 3.02 firmware but with the ability to play everything that 1.50 supports.

Yes, to my knowledge kernel mode has full access on 3.02 OE-A and OE-B. You can play anything. PS1 backups I think only work on OE-B though.

On 3.02OE-B you have two kinds of kernel mode: 1.50 Kernel and 3.02 Kernel (I don't know why they've put that last one in, because it's pretty useless) And on 3.02OE-A you can backup PSX games bought from sony. And on 3.02OE-B you can convert your own.

Any firmware higher than 2.81 has NO HOMEBREW AS OF NOW and a 2.80 downgrader for TA-082's doesn't mean we're ANY CLOSER to 3.0* downgrade or even 2.81! NOOB!...
You don't need balls to try to find a 2.81/2 exploit, if you just ***** around, the worst that can happen is your PSP crashes, as long as you don't modify your flash memory. If you screw around on devhook emulating 2.81/2, there's probably 0% chance of bricking
ok people let me explain this one more time for the slow ones... in this download yes there are a total of 242 files.. the other 4 you need are in the dowload above for the downdater... put those 4 in the F0 folder along with the other 242 and you get 246.. see how that works.. then highlite all the files in the F0 folder and right click then hit properties and it will say its 286 files and total size is 17.7 meg (18,598,267 Bytes).. just like the readme says it should.. if ya dont know how then dont try this.. if you dont trust the creator then dont use it simple as that

Do I have any chance in going back to 2.80? When I put in Socom 2 it updated me to 2.81. I'm pretty sure I had 2.80 before b/c the numbers on the box had a "K" at the end. If I can't I will just go swap it.
Bought a new PSP yesterday cos I saw my friend playin PSX games on it and I instanly wanted one. I've figured out that I've got 2.81 firmware, and TA-082 motherboard. Im new to PSP's, but not to emulation, so I understand this a little bit. Can someone tell me plainly, if theres any chance of me playin PSX games on my PSP at any stage in my lifetime, because if not I'm taking it back to the store I bought it from tommorrow lol. Chez x

I have a TA-82 with firmware 3.02 , since at the time people were saying it was unlikely to ever be downgradable I upgraded to 3.02 to be able to play my copy of MGS:PO And NOW not too long after this comes out >_< Well I guess it's a step in the right direction, hopefully the rest of the FWs will see downgrades soon. I know I won't be upgrading again just in case!

Some people are born to be raving retards. With the sheer amount of recent developments happening lately, one could certainly hope for a more updated downgrader. But I'll hope for a more stable, idiot-proof downgrader first. I'd hate to brick my unit because I spaced for a second.

do you notice that the psp will delete any folder other than what is made duirng the format.. so how to make sure the psp will not delete the F0 folder when you disconnect it from the computer?
