PSP - Image 1Eric Lempel at the PlayStation Blog has posted a quick updated  saying that the PSP Firmware v5.02 will be available shortly. How short is this 'shortly'?  We don't know for sure. But knowing how they like to sneak up on us, we wouldn't be surprised if this lands in a couple of hours. Or next week.

v5.02 will supposedly improve system software stability during use of some features, including the PlayStation Store.

I just had to ask. You think this could be their response to Datel's PSP 3000 hack? *gasp*

ITS NOT A FIX FOR DATEL!!!!! EVERYBODY STOP BEING STUPID!!!!! IN ORDER TO CIRCUMVENT THE BATTERY IT TAKES HARDWARE MODIFICATION!!! ! THE IS AND NEVER WILL BE SUCH A THING AS A FIRMWARE UPDATE THAT CAN FIX PANDORA BATTERY!!! PANDORA HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SOFTWARE ON YOUR PSP!

Yeah, this is whack, but I don't think it's dealing with the Datel exploit...

Anyways, if it was, I'm pretty damn sure that DAX will know about it and make sure to fix it up...

Man, fu ck Sony.

This CANNOT be a block to the Datel tool. This is because accessing service mode is a hardware thing, not software. This is way TA-88v3 Motherboards cannot be hacked.

He's completely right. How can you fix a hardware issue with a software update?

Gonna need a new update to access the store from custom PSP's - Why's everyone getting in a ***** because of a off hand joke that someone made about this "maybe" blocking the datel hack? it was sarcasm, Chill out.

# software has access to the hardwareStingBlah 2008-11-19 14:25
the firmware can access the battery, so it might be possible to block code or maybe they'll switch motherboards on us...

I think QJ needs to get people who know what they are talking about to run the news posts.

or at least people that are smart enough to clarify with a *joke* or (joke) at the end of a joke instead of *gasp*.

service mode is in NO WAY linked to firmware.

the only way they could fix that is by redoing the motherboard.

now if in the future we see something about Sony recalling or canceling orders for the 3000,

THAT is when you know its to fix something like that.
