Well as the title implies, within a ridiculously short time from from Sony's 3.00 Firmware release we were welcomed by 3.01 Firmware. Naturally everyone assumed that this was a small patch. Paired releases were somewhat common in the past, so it only made sense that they left a little hole that needed immediate patching. Really now Sony, is homebrew worth constantly wasting energy on this type of blockade?
Noobz must have our collective backs as they have whipped out a firmware dumper and decrypter for BOTH the new 3.00 and 3.01 PSP Firmwares. This handy application that was released only moments ago enables dumping of "all known firmware update PSARs" by a modified version of PSPPet's PSARDumper.
This amazing feat, achieved only a day after 3.01 was released, and two days after 3.00 hit the streets homebrew enthusiasts have to wonder, "Is Sony still trying...?". Now we have gained access to the new firmware files, one could guess that an updated version of Devhook supporting 3.00 / 3.01 Firmware emulation could be in our near future.

oh wow, can't wait to see where this leads. Lets hope for a hopebrew friendly 3.01 with psx support. Its these kinds of discoveries that is keeping the psp scene alive and well. Good job to all that contributed!!!!
Now that 3.0 and 3.01 has been released hopefully Devhook can now catch up. It just goes to show, Sony knew about 2.80+ being devhooked in beta stages, and didn't bother to change anything, so now we know Sony don't care about emulation can't we get up to date?

if someone gets homebrew on 3.00 without making custom FW then TA-082 users can enjoy homebrew which would increase psp sales again (maybe not by much but still) thats my theory.

it means we soon be able to probably emulate 3.0 and 3.1 on our 1.5, and it also means your a dumb ass for upgrading..lol
I must point out that although this means that devhook emulation is possable, it dosnt mean instant progresion, 2.80 still cannot be fully emulated, there is still alot of random lockups on the Beta 0.50, and it dosnt have iso support, also its possabel sony went to extra lenghts with this firmware to protect it from being emulated, so we will just have to wait and see what booster and dark alex can cook up.
I hope booster was waiting to sneak up on 3.0 or something. Is there a source out for devhook. If 3.0 gets devhooked, then I a will be overlyjoyed with the future of my psp.

I was reading on another forum about this new dump and apparently the 3.0/3.01 firmware is totally different and doesn't use the Flash0 like the other versions. 3.0 won't be emulated for a LOOOONG time.

I don't want to spoil the fun, but this is exactly the same as has been done when 3.00 came out. With DA's psar dumper you could also dump the firmware files... But you couldn't decrypt them!! This program also can't decrupt the files, and the new filesystem on flash0 also hasn't been cracked.. so actually this is nothing new and were are still a LONG way from dh3.01 or a new special firmware with 3.00 prx workin in it.. But it is nice to see everybody is working on this.

omg! o well too bad booster is playing a NDS instead of updating devhook. 3.01SE is kinda impossible because 2.71SE already takes up most of the flash, and it is smaller than 3.01.

I will take a lot onger than a few days till a devhooked 3.0/1 shows up. If it were that easy then we'd all be running 2.80 dh already.
Firmware 1,5 is still the best at the moment, but Firmware 3,00 or 3,01 with Devhook would be cool. Or an E-Loader or a downgrader for 3,00 :-) I think in near future, we will be able to play PS1 games without a PS3 connection. Thanks in advance to all coders and hackers :-)

I hate to break it to you guys, but there will probably never be a Devhook to emulate firmwares 2.80 and above. I don't think anyone will make it. I'm sure though that Dark_Alex will do something big like a custom firmware or something else.
The PS3 can check the PSP's firmware to see if it's a legit firmware. They knew someone would find a way, and now someone has, they can do the proper PS3less release on a more secure firmware which won't be emulated or customised for a long, long time. Probably long enough to get some people to switch back to official firmware and upgrade.

Now that it has been decrypted,1.5 users or those on firmwares that can be downgraded have more options. This proves yet again that one should never updated to the point of no return. All of those who updated so quickly for the 3.0 should have waited.

i compleyly agree with you sony probobly just wants to sell more psps and i think they just may but i think we can do better thatn devhooking and staying on 1.5 i think if we try hard enough we can get emus and homebrew to run as pa1 games and eliminater the need for a downgrader or a dev hook or even a hack exploit of course this means someone will need to mod the snes emu to work on it seeing as they broke up

They should have waited until MGS Portable Ops was out before releasing this. As it is now, Sony could close this loophole and release a firmware update prior to the MGS release
the 2.71 se almost took all of the memory in the flash we might not beable to do this even if it was possible

this is a step in the right direction. just cause its been extracted doent mean there anywhere closer to emulating it. dont get me wrong this is great, but if there is a 3.0 dev then sony will surely try to sue someone. cause then im sure they say people r trying to pirate pspone games. hey if they do emulate it i dont have no problem paying for games until the psone emulator from yoshi comes to terms. i looked everywhere for the 3.0 firmware update but i could only ifnd it in japanese. got 3.01 on my pc not that im planning on updating just want to see the changes. i mean the famous 3.0 firmware was out for a day then 3.01 come on now 6 months of anticipaTION hah. booster tis ur work that we all r so happyily using but to bad sony had to con u out of h-b wish u were here. viva la homebrew. hahaha heres hoping for a 3.o se firmware. possibly an eboot that permanently leaves a hole in the security patch or sumthin. been an exciting week cant wait for more news

WOW :O All I can say is amazing!! Such a short time, I was not expecting anything after a week or so, but 2 days after 3.00 OMG I want DevHook for 3.00 or higher :D Just one question, is it required to decrypt my firmware for installing a DevHook or something to my PSP FW 3.00 ?? or is it just something I install and then it's aplied or something? so, I'm kinda n00b to this psp hacking scene but whatever, I only use my PSP for mp3, but it would be nice with some special apps for my PSP :D over and out :P

how the ***** do you know.. let me tell you something, EVERYTHING in this hole world has a flaw.. it is just a matter of finding it They where able to dumb and they can now work towards exploits. NEVER under estamate a deadacated coder/hacker. Sure it may take along time, or it may not it could be within 6 to 12 months from now, but im sure it will happen eventually. The custom firmware is what should be consatrated on. I dont think that it will be available anytime soon though. Their is a space limmit on the flash wich will poss a threat. But maybe if they Dident try to bring all the features of the sony FW then they could write their own more code efficent apps. I purfur devhook as it emulates the firmware, over writeing to the flash, possably causeing a brick. Anyhow if you have no hope then get lost And to anyone working towards homebrew, FW emualtors, or custom firmware you rock!! with tiral and error come results. good or bad we will support ya!
Booster is gone, that's for sure. After I read about how he received a nasty "cease and decist" (spelling, who cares) from Sony, he disappeared. However, knowing hackers, he's still here and very much at work under a new name. That's just my theory. Also, does anybody remember when some dev was developing a PS1 emulator and suddenly stopped and said they were working with a PSP company and there were big surprises ahead? I hate seeing hackers sell out.

I don't get what decryption means... 2.8 and above got decrypted and nothing happened at all except for 2.8 which only has a little flash0 access. If 2.81 and 2.82 can't even be hacked I doubt this will. But I guess decryption is only good for custom firmware and Devhook correct? Cause I'm still new to homebrew... Yeah I'm a 2.8 user :(
It ma be possible to split the firmware into modules. Therefore, the custom firmware would load the "PS1 Emulation Module" or something similar to that.
i really hope that they will be releasing a new devhook soon cuz a lot of the new games comming out require 2.71 or higher lucky devhook could emulate 2.71 but i hope by the time metal gear portable ops comes out they would be able to come up with a higher devhook

Answer inaccurate; Sony got pwnd serveral times when it comes to 1.51 + 1.52. First by MPH, then by SXT, then by Booster. These where also the FWs that where easily bypassed when it comes to the FW required to play a game. In shorter words, Sony got bent over :D

u should team up with dark alex to syncronize the 3.0/3.01 new flash0 format and made a buffer to blend into older fw version like 1.5 - 2.71/2.80. Unless u r a fake booster here!

Devhook emulates firmware. So if my son, Booster as you call him, makes a new devhook then you will be able to emulate firmware 3.0 you get it now? Also, I hate custom firmware. It takes your flash and it has possibilty of bricking your psp. I'd would have to go with my son's own application, Devhook. Everyone else should downgrade thier 2.71 SE-B's and other custom firmware to 1.5 and use devhook because Booster, my son is better than Dark_Alex. Farewell......

To everyone saying that theres not enough room in flash so you should just put the firmware on memstick should realise thats exactly what devhook is. Instead of running the firmware off flash, its running off the memstick.

My theory is that sony sees the psp homebrew scene and wants more people to join it so they secretly have been leaving bugs open for more BIG news so the boards go overide and more people see about homebrew getting into games and such and telling and showing there friends and they buy psps cuase they can play mario on it and they just looove mario then they tell there friends and keeps going round the world. This also helps sony becuse all of the nintendo ( There competetor ) ROMs are and emus are realeased. And for there own ps1 there release a emu of there ps1 and will make a small bug in 3.0/3.01, and theat is my theory.
Dark alex said that the only reason that they couldnt get 2.80/81/82 to work with devhook is becuse something with ISO loading and with ISO's

i google searched devhook source code and found it..... now i am playing with it and replacing 2.71 with 3.01 so it wont have the 150, 200, 250 ,260 ,271 folders in the DH folder(on the root of the mem stick).just 150 and 301 what i dont know is how to compile it into something useable???? any help ??????????????

booster is off playing nds because he is sick of all the four year olds playing homebrew on psp. It doesnt take a braniac to figure out how to put an eboot on a memory stick and launch it from the game folder hence the psp homebrew scene is filled with idiots whining everytime something new is released. At least Nds takes a bit of a brain you need flashcarts etc. I have great respect for the coders in the psp scene but i honestly wonder how they can put up with it when people act like this. Sony did win because like it or not you bought the damn thing therefor they got a good $300 off of you and those memory sticks your putting third party game iso's on (the iso's dont effect sony it effects your beloved game company) bring in sony a good chunk of change. Guys, What's the point of emulating 3.0/3.01 firmware if you dont have a ps3....If you did have a ps3 I would probably keep firmware 2.71SE-B and play playstation games how I always do...Xbox emulator... AND you heard what they said about the games it gives a unique id to the psp to only be able to play the game..Unless some1 cracks that or makes an ID generator theres no point..and some1 still gotta provide the .iso(s) made just for the PSP ps1 games... It IS possible for you to put the files on the memstick, and have some stuff in flash0 to boot off the memstick, but it would be too risky trying to figure out what and how we could do it (we could probably build a house with all the bricks).

I read an interview with dark alex. He said booster was working on a 2.82 devhook beta, that was working but buggy and another "secret project". I bet someone on the scene had a leaked copy of 3.01, and these godly developers(dark alex, booster, fanjita and ditlew, etc) where all secretly working on 3.01 stuff.

In reality the prx set used from fw 1.5 could be compressed to make space for other more essential files required in 3.0 - In addition, some features are not necessary and will not be included in any new Custom firmware releases. Someone mentioned modular, this is possible though, would need to ensure flash0 file system is accurately mapped. Updates are to come. Keep your eyes open. Dark_Alex.
If Devhook with 3.0/3.1 emulation pops up, it probably won't be long before Sony decides to try and sew(sp?) Dark Alex. (I seem to rember somthing to do with devhook and the law before, or had I just drank too much again. lol)
Stop *****ing asking always the same question. NO there won't be a new Devhook (till they don't find ot the new "format" of Flash0, and even then there is the problem of 2.8. It needs a key at startup who is at every PSP different). So stop it pls. Sony didn't tried to prevent the decrypting. They don't mind if its decrypted, because you can't do anything with the files. Perhaps you didn't read the onscreen instructions, which are unchanged from previous PSARDumper versions. Press one key for an encrypted dump (for use with devhook). Press another key for a decrypted dump. If this can't decrypt, then how do I have decrypted data sitting on my memory stick?

IMO, the reason why 2.80 was decrypted, but never emulated is because Sony was probably waiting to see wether the hackers are going to crack 2.8 or not... I don't think 3.00 has so much better protection than 2.80 but then again, I don't know too much about that stuff so I'm not the one to judge... Let's wait and keep our fingers crossed for the emulation...

Emulating Firmware 3.XX won't be an easy task. 1. The Flash 0 dir is totally different from the previous versions 2. PS1 Emulation will only work with a ps3 + the firmware check which is done. Don't expect miracles from Dark_Alex or B00ster. Perhaps in the near future, a possible emulation of 3.XX will be a option, but for now stick with 2.71-SE or 1.5 (which i prefer).

Why would sony release another firmware update? 3.01 has not been HACKED, only decrypted. Same with 2.81 and 2.82, they were decrypted but not hacked (as of now).

Firstly, this does not mean a downgrader. Anyone who updated past 2.80 should not expect a downgrader any time soon. Secondly, this may lead to a version of devhook supporting 3.01. And lastly, Booster is still alive! He is still deving for the scene and has released an internal beta of devhook supporting 2.81 emulation but not isos yet. Hope this sets things straight for those err... newbies out there.

I was really bored and upgraded to 3.01 not knowing about the security......I've tried this and Dev Hook 0.50 but that only goes up to 2.8 I think and 3.0 I think...I found it on dl.qb.net. I think....Sry for all the i thinks...Anyway I'll have to wait for booster to make 3.01 in the dh folder on the new dev hook there IS A 3.01 FOLDER!!! That means he's working on it maybe..But YAY!!! Like I said I've tried to find something out of desperation to downgrade or emulate the 3.01 upgrade. But there is 100% nothing anywhere. The best thing I can think of is dev hook. Booster is working on 3.01 I think. But that might be 1 to 3 months....So unless a hacker does something out of the blue by accident don't count on anything........need dev hook.......
