Devhook v0.52 Released - Thanks for a Great Year! |

Only a day after TA-082 PSP's are downgradable, Booster hits the scene with a new Devhook, sporting the version of v0.52. I'm wondering if this program will ever reach the big numero uno (number one), but that may never happen, but there is another number concerning this release besides the version number, the new maximum firmware emulation! This new iteration of Devhook can emulate firmware 3.03, but you will still have to use the psar dumper (separate from devhook)This new version of Devhook however does not fix the Pop's emulation issues on the emulated firmware, but it does emulate the majority of 3.03 which would aid in the execution of 3.03-only UMD's (not produced yet, but will be most likely in the near future). The installation for this new version is similar to the installation of the previous devhooks, just you need a new psar dumper, of which is bundled (thanks vb_master) with this new Devhook download.
So, just as we were unwrapping our downgrader for 2.71 TA-082 PSP's, Booster surprised us like Dark_Alex and his little elves (Mathieulh and Harleyg). As 2006 is coming to a close we are left with some of the greatest PSP homebrew advancements, and what a better way to celebrate the end by saying "thank you" to all those who helped to make it one of the greatest! Show you are thankful and post so in our comments, I'm sure everyone would enjoy to hear that! So, you can download one of the year's greatest applications (Devhook v0.52) below and read on how to install it -
Installation
1) Download 3.03 Firmware Eboot (below)
2) Download Devhook v0.52 + PSAR Dumper from C+D (bundled below)
3) Extract all Files
4) Move PSAR_Dumper2 and PSAR_Dumper2% to PSP/Game directory
5) Download PBP Unpacker (below)
6) Install it on computer and run after installation and click "Open"
7) Navigate to the 3.03 eboot file and open it, then extract the files to any directory
8) Move the DATA.PSAR file to the root of your memory stick
9) Open up the extracted devhook folder and move dh, fbm and PSP into the root of your memory stick
10) Disconnect your PSP and run the PSAR dumper from your memory stick via the XMB and follow the on-screen instructions (press X to dump)
11) Connect your PSP to your PC and copy the newly created F0 folder (root of your memory stick) and move it to dh/303/
12) Run Devhook v0.52 now and go down to flash install (uninstall the flash configuration if you have previously installed a previous firmware) and click install configuration (first option I believe). Hold O for a few seconds to confirm.
13) Now go to firmware and select 3.03 and boot up Devhook, good luck and have fun!

just use x-flash to make registry dump and copy the 2 files to ms0:\dh\303\f1\registry then there is no need to flash anything!! greetings

Great job! but im on 3.02OEB :D I would like to see a usbhost module working on the xmb directly, maybe on 3.02OEC?? couse i'm only using devhook to play my (legally backup) isos from the pc. and the devhook consumes precious space on my 1gb card.... Since I'm at 3.02 OE-B, there's no need for this for me. There are no real improvements in 3.03, and no games that need it yet. I'll just stick with DH .46 and the VSHEX mod. That way, I can emu 2.60, so I can have USBHost ISOs, and the GTA: LCS CheatDevice that has hover cars (the PRX one doesn't).
I know this is going to sound negative, and it's not meant to be negative, just asking a serious question. Is there even any point to this devhook?

Just to emulate the 3.03 firmware which is the only existent firmware to play MediEvil for PSOne (PS Store version), since the 3.03 firmware has capability with more games. This version of Devhook is unusable, but maybe if booster can get some code from DAX to crack POPS he can do so in devhook... we'll see...
The 3.02 OE-B Firmware has devhook intergrated into it. So with out devhook 3.02OE-B would not be as great as it is. Right now there are no games that even use 3.0 firmware, Booster is just keeping up with the latest sony firmware. Right now he's just way ahead of the game. Thanks Booster

i know this version of devhook is a great release and is something many of us have been anticipating, but will this be it for big releases this year? is the 2.80 -> 2.71 ta-082 downgrader going to be the first big release for 2007? i was hoping that the downgrader would be release this year too. but oh well, great job with devhook!
However, according to previous Devhook, there was sometimes problem with launching ISO or coming back to XMB. I hope Booster you managed to fix it in this version. Happy New Year!

I know that 3.02 OE-A, B is like one of the best custom firmware. However when OE wasnt released we all used devook. show some respect and you should be thanking them. Most of you guys should have used devook from the beginning of this year...till now...
i updated to 3.03 firmware can i update to 3.02oe-b and what can devhook v5.02 do can i play emulator on this firmware
Maybe you should have done some research BEFORE you started playing with your PSP. It will be a long time before you can run a custom firmware, emulator, or devhook on your PSP, now that you've updated to an uncracked firmware. Good job!

Regarding Step 12 of above... Is this affecting the actual flash or just writing something to the memory stick? Also am I donig this for both Flash0 and Flash1 or just one or the other..... again...don't want to brick my precious....

As Snarg has pointed out, you're out of luck for now. Wait a while, and DO NOT upgrade your firmware in the future.
Some are still scared to update to 3.02 OE-B, so yes, there is a point.
flash 1 is the psp flash ram and flash 0 memory stick.
just read the instrutctions and you will not brick your psp.

I got disappointed when I found it didn't work in 3.02 OE B... but hey, no need to complain really... it's an amazing achievement as it is... but on topic, I reckon Devhook is still useful... maybe DaX will release a 3.03 OE with some new features like usbhost... who knows?... *waits in suspence*
I would like to use the usb cord to upload legally backed-up games. akuma I've tried a couple of isos emulating 2.71 that do not work thru usb; on the mem stick, they do work when using dev 0.51 with 3.02 update. I dont have enough mem stick to hold my games; wanna pull them off of the hard drive. thanks for any help!

Forget all that, Use the PBP unpacker and dump the PSAR onto the root of your memory stick and run PSAR dumper. When it exits successfully, launch devhook and go to "Flash Install" and click on the last option (setup firmware from PSAR dumper). Once that finishes, click on "Firmware" on the main Devhook menu. Select "Firmware 3.03" (last option). Click "Start Devhook". Click O on the PSPs BSOD and viola, ur set to go!
can i play homebrew on the DEVHOOK 0.52 because i upgraded to sonys firmware 3.03

for all of you wanting to use usbhost on fw 3.02 oe-a or b, it's possible with an older release of devhook. Just grab a hold of the Ultimate Installer USB Edition v0.3.1 (UI). It has support for usbhost, and will load most of your backups. only the very lastest games might not be supported. get it here: http://www.sendspace.com/file/kwaw7f

hi just need abit of help.. i been on firewire 1.5 from the start an doing so i can emulate my iso's that i have on umd using DH. isit ok to use this DH with 3.03 even if im on 1.5 ? kinda nooobish but its not stated :)
will this usb installer be workable in 0.51 or 0.52 to access the pc hard drive? I had access to usb on a previous devhook, but not on the more recent as far as I could see (did they move the usb in the menu or is this an updated usb installer?) still a noob after a year on this site.

Nice... finally stable bootup of DevHook. Works mucho better then .51 for me, but there are a couple of bugs that you need to fix. 1) In the DevHook menu (not the XMB DevHook overimposed menu) but the one in the actual program.... when you select BootMenu the choice for DevHook Menu reads DevHok Menu... a misspelling mistake. 2) In the actual XMB overlay DevHook menu, when you choose to Escape DevHook there's no highlight on the yes or no options... you basically have to kind of guess by hitting left or right and then clicking O. Please fix these... they have to be easy fixes.

Thanks Booster for this release... I'm using 0.51 and 3.02 OE-B at once, I'm not sure if it's supposed to work like that but it does... Anyway I'd suggest everyone not ditch DH just because of OE-B. Booster has also made significant contributions and kept the scene going with DH, which allowed us to play the latest games. If Dark Alex is unable to work on his project (forbid) where will you turn to? So support the devs equally and look forward more great apps to make the best of PSP.
wait didnt booster run into legal issues and was forced offline by sony what happened did they back off and what about dark alex did he decide not to leave what happened i am greatfull but what happened to all of these tragitys and lawsuits

I followed the instuction perfectly , and everything is fine , but when it reboots to change firmware's im still at 1.5 and i cant play anything with out upgrading . If anyone can help me it would greatly appreciated.
Hii got my psp on a 1.50 and i don't have any idea of what to do next i dont want to upgrade to the custom firmware because i don't have playstation games.So wath do you think its the best option for me?

We don't have a lot of devs that are looking at making homebrew for our scene, as a matter of fact, we still have yet to see a sega saturn emulator, a sega cd emulator, and anything that comes close to a functional N64 emulator. Don't demoralize the work of ANY dev even if Lua dev. You try reverse engineering software and then making it do things it's not supposed to do while working within limited memory constrains then have some guy say you're work is crap.

Flash1 is the 2nd Ram chip in the psp for holding Firmware settings, Flash0 is where the All important Startup Firmware is, its got what makes the psp start in it. Mess up flash0, get a brick.

hello i am a 1.5 psp running dev h .52 now with 3.03 frimware when i try to create a infrastructure connection i always get internal error has occured 80410d17 ive tried 222 and 33 and uts the same ive been thinking about putting 3.02OEB but i still have some questions does it have iso running support is it fully working i meen internet browser flash wma??? and can u come back to 1.5 if u dont like it?? so please anwser me so i might get 3.02OEB ty all happy x mas and new year and my bro will freak out ta downgrader :)

This isn't useful if you have 2 PSPs. Because you can always have 1 updated to the latest firmware.

the link i posted is actaully an earlier version of devhook, namely 0.46. Sony recoded the latest firmware, so you can't use usb in fw 3.XX (yet) But since most games require 2.71, you're good for now...

thanks to all of you, HB guys! Someone said, he needs DevHook for starting isos on his 3.02 OE B. I also have 3.02 OE B and i simply put csos ans isos into the ISO folder i vreated in the root of my MS ;) But maybe i'll use DevHook too, because i need die OC in order to play Games like VCS as csos which are much smaller then isos but need more speed to run because of their compression ....
I'll just wait for a new devhook that can emulate fw 3.02 or 3.03 like devhook 0.46 does with fw 2.71 rather than doing that psar dumper bull*****

when i open devhook and go 2 version 3.03 and load it up it loads then this blue screen comes up with all this writtin on it then it turns off and the memory stick LED is still flashing then the psp turns back on and i have 2 put in new data like time nickname this have never hapen with devhook 0.51
I have 3.02 OE-B and i have Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops.cso, Reel Fishing.cso, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.iso and SOCOM Navy Seals Team 2.iso/cso. I can't play these games i have mentioned. Can anyone tell me why is this so??

hey, i just upgraded to 3.02 oe b, can i install this new devhook aswel or will i need to downgrade back to 1.5 before i use this devhook, because 0.52 writes to flash doesnt it.

I have custom firmware 3.02 oe b on my psp. It a good program but my psp iso will not work on my dev hook like they use to. So how do you downgrade custom firmware back to regular 1.50?so I can use my old version of Dev Hook?
I bet Sony are thinking up some new crappy firmware right now. I bet this is what the changelog will look like: 3.04: -Security fixes Sony, maybe if you give people a reason to upgrade, they might do so.

i got the blue screen of death when i loaded up 3.03. i did all the flash1 stuff (but it was weird because it said it was flashing it to flash1/dh/2.8x). what did i do wrong. im on oe-b but i know you can have devhook on it.

Ok i just got my PSP two days ago and i dont get any of this, my PSP came w/ version 3.03 so does that mean i can not do Homwbrew? and i tried to follow these steps however i don't get step 4. i need help!

to: not As for the second bug you listed, it's not a bug at all. I noticed this on devhook .51. You're using the monthly cycling background right? Basicly, the menu option is highlighted in red and your background is red. You can either fix your background to a different color, or wait a day and it won't be december anymore.
y cnt u use homebrew on version 3.02? cnt u use it thru tha broswer or something, lyk: file:/game/dh surely tht cud work?

Coolcarl if you don't know what you are talking about please shut up! Use PSP FILE ASSISTANT and you will find proof Roborob is correct
i am using 1.50 + 2.71 thingy..haha im n00b ok my first question is...can i use anything/ this Devhook0.52 launcher to launch it into 3.03 firmware..then can i play bought games? second question: how come wen i load it up..i followed all the steps...and it says (in black screen) startup the devhook save launcher settings loading devhook Dh ver. 0.52.0000 reboot system then it shuts down... third question: does this emulate games? cuz wen i choose my iso/cso game..and press start devhook..it doesnt work... it says (in black screen) startup the devhook save launcher settings loading devhook Dh ver. 0.52.0000 reboot system then once again it shuts down fourth and final question: wheres the flash thingy? and how do i delete my old firmware..the 2.71 one... my msn is skyfree_yellow82@msn.com help plzzz!!!

Hi, Does somebody knows whether Devhook 0.52 acces the flash of the psp. i.o.w can you brick your psp while installing Devhook? (or having low batteries) Devhook 0.46 was perfect and i want to go for the new DH 0.52 BTW I prefer to stick with using DH only and not going for Custom firmware since it has the potential of bricking the PSP... My psp firmware is 3.03. Do I need to downgrade to use devhook 0.52 because i follow the steps exactly and when i boot up psar dumper i get an error message. Please send Help!!!
everytime i dl the devhook and psardump file above it says header corrupt and will not put the files in directory i need dh,fbm and psp can someone help?

i think i did everything right, i Disconnect my PSP and run the PSAR dumper from your memory stick, and id dont dhow any menu and i dont see any new F0 what am i doing erong? Noob
hello, after doing all the steps I get an error saying that the setting information is corrupted.press the O button to repair and restore default settings. if I do so it dosn't help, only way is hard reboot without mem stick and then format it ... help please :)
ok i have installed devhook v 52 and it runs good now the question is how would i go back to 1.5 ((((in the old devhook you press start n select and it would reboot back to 1.5))) how would i do for this version
when i press start and select were it say firware it say not supported is this normal?

i need help to load the psar dumper on my psp. My firmware is 3.03 and when i load the dumper its says that game could not be started. Can anyone help me step by step what to do. I dont know y i updated to 3.03. I was having so much fun with 2.71 and playing emulators like gba, snes, and genesis, and now im pissed off at the one i have now. So plz anyone help me. Thxs

I followed all steps correctly, until it came upto Flash Install. The steps were unclear on what to select so i selected the first option, something about install config to flash1 i think. Right so then something similiar to the above user came up like this: Directry flash1:/dh/28X : not found Mkdir flash1:/dh: make dummy file flash1:/dh/dummy.dat:OK And a few more lines. I then waited and waited to see if anuthing else would happen but nothing did. So i then pressed a button and my PSP restarted. The blue screen then come up saying Setting Info or whatever incorrect, so i restored and then Firmware 3.03 loaded up correctly. On restarting my PSP to get back to 1.50 i again recieved the blue screen, on pressing circle to restore 1.50 loaded. Now it seems both work, but i don't think it was installed correctly, can anybody tell me if i did. Many thanks to any help in advance.

i have 1.5 fw and run devhook to emulate 3.03. Wifi is not working. I cannot get on the internet. When i try to establish a connection an error occurs. the error says "An internal error has occcured. (80410D17)" Please Help me get wifi working in devhook

im using devhook 0.51 emulating 3.01 and it has the little vshex menu on boot. does this devhook have the little vshex menu where u can change ur settings like the cpu clock speed and such? just wondering cuz i may switch to this devhook. thanks.

I followed the instructions exactly - and the same exact thing happened to me. The instructions here were pretty *****ty and careless, and it didn't state that you'd encounter the blue screen, but all seems well for me.
yea it actually writes to the flash folder so they just say flash since its the folder i guess. i still needa know if this devhook has the little vshex menu on boot that lets u change ur settings to ur liking.

Make sure you are trying to start Psar Dumper from 1.5 firmware otherwise it will not load.
Currently on a 1.50 PSP running DevHook 0.46. I would like to upgrade. I have copied all the files in the correct folders but I do not see the PSAR Dumper under Memory Stick. What am I missing?
i start the devhook thingy with 3.03 firmware selected then it says reboot system then when i do i get nothing how do i play my iso!!!!!!!!!
so finally i created the folder f0, can i delete now the data.psar file from the root? and what about the flash, previously i had installed devhook 0.46 and then deleted it, because i have a 32mb stick, well i formatted my stick. so my question now is, have i need it to "uninstall the files from flash1" and then "install files to flash1"?
