Dark_AleX's 3.10 OE updated to A' (Rev 2)

Dark_AleX has just released a bugfix version of his Open Edition custom firmware, 3.10 OE-A'. As expected, the A2 release is a small update which fixes a simple bug in games like Metal Slug 6 and the others. This bug was because the static ELF wasn't being patched correctly in some cases.

There's nothing else apart from that, so if those selected games aren't in your list, you can skip this update altogether. Though, if he releases a new update (rev 3) and you have to upgrade to it, getting this latest version will be a safer option. Anyways, here's the file. Thanks to vb_master/vulpix for the heads-up!

put the folder you downloaded into your GAME150 folder and run it like any other homebrew (go to 'Memory Stick' under the 'Game', and run the updater). Thats all :)

ppl with problems (semi-bricking) when changing the xmb graphics, need to free up space on their flash0 (use flash agent). THIS IS NOT A BUG IN 3.10 OE!! The web browser problem fixes itself after refreshing the xmb settings to default (restore to default).

Although I haven't encountered any of the problems mentioned since I haven't played metal slug it is great to have it fixed. At first I wasn't going to upgrade to 3.10OE-A since 3.03OE-C was working just fine for me. Then I tried to play Gauntlet Legends and it froze on 3.03 but it and others that didn't work work great on 3.10OE-A. I don't mess with my icons or any thing like that since I don't really pay attention to them that much so I don't fell the need to change them.

Anyway Thanks DARK_ALEX for all your hard work and dedication to making the PSP the greatest gaming system I have ever owned. And I guess whether I want to admit it or not I need to thank Sony for improving the PS1 emulator and increasing compatibility. Because without them and DARK_ALEX of course I couldn't enjoy all my ps1 games on the PSP.

There is another version that is the proper version the first one was a bad rip. I am playing metal slug 6 now. I tried it just to see if it worked and it does. I can't tell you where to get it but I think you can find it with no problem.

me too. All I had to do was go to settings and restore defaults. It wasn't doing it automatically upon bluescreen as it was supposed to. Restore defaults fixed it for me.

Hi! I have some questions and hope for some help (noob alert)

Anyway, I installed 3.10oe-a. It fricking rocks. Got lots of great stuff working. However, ALOT of homebrew doesnt work. Like the PSP Universal Remote., PSP FTP, PSP UAE, much more. All the same, I try placing their directories in the psp/game/ folder, the game150 or 310, all the same. The icon shows up as a "corrupted data" icon. Am I doing something obvious and stupid here? Or do these apps need to catch up to work? I try both boots (310 or 150 kernal).

Also while im at it, on mameforallpsp when I run it , it tells me there is no rom in the psp/game/roms/ directory. Of course there is no documentation on that file telling you to make that directory, nor does it make it when you unzip. So I made it and still doesnt see my roms.

I'm serious, and not trying to cause a stir, but I tried upgrading 2 PSPs to this from 3.10 OE-A and they both half bricked. After installing, when turning them on, the green light would come on, and nothing else. Fortunately the Recovery Mode still worked, and I was able to re-downgrade them to 1.5, and then re-install 3.10 OE-A. Anyone else have this experience?

installing firmware all over and over again, like upgrading to another custom firmware... i do have 3.03 OE-C and i truelly enjoy it, that's good someone makes life easier and builds Custom firmware it's really neat thing but this upgrading every time is becoming tiring... i have nothing against releasing CFs every day but if i had to update my psp every day it could become really pain in the a**.

My point?

Who cares about 3.10 ? its just another fw release that sony made not to use firmware (of course they didn't predict 3.10 eboot decryption :> or did they ?). I'm staying with 3.03 OE-C if there is something worth upgrading for i will do that, now i don't see the point.

I was one of those unfortunate TA-082 owners. When I fist saw the good news here, I went everywhere for an unpatched GTA LCS. After a lot of searching just found one today and successfully installed DA's 3.10 OE-A. It seems to be running like a champ!!

i too have had this problem. BSOD. Pressing circle does nothing (not anything else shot of hard reset. at least I didn't have to pull the battery). I know I can try restore defaults from System settings, but I hate re-inputting my wifi config. Wasn't there a way for recovery mode to save this info?

Since no one was interested in helping me, ill post my own response in case another noob needs help. All these homebrews don't have ***** for documentation, just go to Google with each app and type in your error message... i.e. try goggling "psp universal remote goodbye". (thats the message it says when you boot it without making the remote root dir). Pretty much any program thats not working has instructions for the GLORIOUS dark Alex os if you find its creators site. Just not in the zip file itself. Dark Alex is the fricking king, I'm eternally greatfull for bringing my interest in my psp back to life.

you need to upgrade to sonys official 3.03 fw then use the 3.03 downgrader to go to 1.50fw and then update to 3.03oe-a then up to 3.03oe-b and so on by the way you need GTA LCS unpatched version to downgrade which i have i my sell it if the price is right cos these copies are like rocking horse sh*t

Hey. Just upgraded 3 PSPs to this with no bricking issues last night (DA is a GOD among coders) and I noticed that on all 3 of them, the Internet Browser won't load. I get BSOD every time. Anyone else having this issue? Any way to correct it?

Hi i tried to play castlevania symphony of the night and final fantasy 6 (anthology) and when i converted it, it appears like a corrupted data in xmb i want to know is it normal in the compatibility list of 3.10 oe a' or my cds are wrong, or my dxar got error o simply is it normal? what can i do?

it`s fairly easy to unbrick a psp with oe custom firmware... if you keep a copy of the firmware files in your computer you can then replace them if you know what you`re actually doing... there`s no real need to downgrade and upgrade back again now that you actually have access to flash0.

I have bricked my psp twice in a week coz i kept messing around with flash memory and always managed to get it back working without even needing to downgrade!!!!!

This version bricked my psp. the md5sum checked out but the 1st time i ran a iso from my memstick it froze my psp and then crashed now when i hit power the green light comes on and then shuts off within 5 seconds... some one needs to write a failsafe so we can drop a eboot in a specific location on the memstick boot the psp and regaurdless of the xmb's condition it run the eboot. aka the restore eboot. also i cannot r trigger into the little psp bios where i could possibly run the restore. that would be nice... but not this time :(

The 3.10 oe-a firmware's md5sum checked out perfect when i created it like always with the 1.5 firmware i have and the oe updatemaker, so i flashed it to my nand disk and ran a umd. the umd failed to load and my psp powered down now when i try to start my psp it lights up a green light for like 5 seconds and shuts off. the r trigger while booting doesnt work. if i could get into the little dark alex failsafe i could restore. im stuck between a modchip and a brick. if any of you know how to flash the nand through usb or something hit me back dmonchild@hotma il.com and info would be helpfull i wont be supprised if its a full out brick and i need to chip it to restore the nand disk just sux i gotta spend money... the best part about my psp was that all the software was free!!! after the initial hardware expenses (system / memsticks) hehehe

would it be possiable to flash custom icons on the XMB IF you cleaned out some room (I was able to clean out 2.5 mb of space by taking out the japanesse "font") so would it be able to handle custom icons if it had the space? just wondering
