Dark_AleX's 3.03 OE-C Released! |

Out of the blue, Dark_AleX has once again released the latest update to his 3.03 Open Edition custom firmware. And this one's a major upgrade, which means that you will have to install it the long way. And yes, the feature list has been beefed up again, with a lot of new things and updates. Without further ado, here's what's changed in the latest version:
- AVC videos bitrate limit patched. The firmware limited the bitrate of avc videos to only 768 Kbps. OE now forces the limit to be 16384 Kbps. (Note: this doesn't mean than the psp can handle such a high bitrate, this means than they won't show error. I don't know which is the real maximum bitrate than the psp can handle at full speed)
- Speed of OE boot is now ~3 seconds faster than previous versions. (without plugins)
- CPU speed of XMB can now be changed.
- Wifi can now work at 333 Mhz!
- Added access to flash 0 and 1 via usb in the recovery menu, based on the great idea of USBSSS by Booster. Note that writing is enabled, so this is intended only for advanced users that know what they are doing in each moment.(It is not a great idea to change anything from the kd folder). Because of this addition, the rest of flashing options were removed.
- PSP isos can now be deleted as any normal memstick games. (also the size of the iso now shows fine when you press triangle->information).
- When formatting memory stick, GAME150, GAME303 and ISO directories will be automatically created!
- Changes in internal HEN core:
- If a EBOOT.PBP with a plain DATA.PSP had a data.psar, modulemgr took as size of the executable the size of data.psp+data.psar. Fixed. (this fix enables psx games to have plain data.psp without causing a memory error).
- Added a couple of patches found by Tyranid. One allows syscalls instructions to be used in kernel mode without causing a crash. The other allows sceKernelQueryModuleInfo to work with sceInit and previous modules.
- The writing is now a bit different. This will avoid "Memory stick blinking too much" bug when using the plugin to load the 3.02 pops.
- popstation now lets the use of non-encrypted DATA.PSP. If data.psp is in the same directory as the app, popstation will use that as the DATA.PSP of the eboot.pbp. Otherwise, it will use the one from BASE.PBP. A DATA.PSP that imitates the original sony one is included.
- EBOOT.PBP generated with a non encrypted data.psp won't need the file KEYS.BIN at all. (Note: these EBOOT.PBP cannot work in versions prior to 3.03 OE-C due to a bug that those versions had.)

This looks rather strange. There's no OEUPDMAKER folder in the zip archive, and there are 2 readme's, one for popstation and one for the firmware I'm guessing (since one is in the popstation folder and one is in the root) but they are both the same readme for popstation. Maybe DaX figures if you're already at OE-B or OE-A at least, you probably already have the DATA.DXAR generated during those installs, or can at least use the same OEUPDMAKER from one of those FW's??? I don't know, what's with this, and what's with the 2 identical readme's?

I currently have 1.5FW and am running DevHook to emulate 3.0, should I update to this 3.03 OE-C ? Can I go back to 1.5FW if I do not like it or will it overwrite 1.5? Thanks

i thought the location free option required the location free player (which costs money)... the option on the psp is part of the firmware but you need the $200 player to use the option
considering it isn't even on Dark Alex's web site I would be worried if I was you......

Yes it take a long time depending on the type of psp and your memory card mine is pretty fast my buddy's took forever
I had 3.03 OE-C installed for 1 hour already.
And I used the Flash0 to USB thing. I deleted files from the flash to save space, renamed fonts to save space and added the shutdown plugin for network update. AND I added custom XMB icons, changed my MAC address, and my displayed version.
And I didn't brick.
mine says 3.03OE-C so I dunno what you did
It took like maybe 2min to make the dxar file and about 1min to flash it to my psp. Everything is working fine with no problem although I haven't used the video option since I don't watch videos on my PSP. It seems as if everything works great such as the overclocking XMB and the ISO info and whatnot. Thanks Dark_Alex for the great update, I can't think of anything that could be added to this to make it any better. Also for those who are asking if this will fix various problems with a certain PSX game it will not as that is a problem with the emulator and not the firmware. That is Sonys responsibility to fix and isn't really anything that Dark_Alex can do about that. Maybe 3.04 will fix the problems.

Put the 1.50 and 3.03 update files in there but rename them 150.PBP and 303.PBP respectively so it can tell them apart since by default they're both EBOOT.PBP
Just like 3.02, that's the ONLY way you can get to OE-C. You have to start with OE-A, then minor patches the rest of the way.
Apparently you missed the news: DAX went and created a plug-in for 3.03 that uses the POPS routines of 3.02, so you can have all the wonderful features of 3.03, without the issues with POPS.

when you turn on your psp hold r and in the menus CPU speed> you vahe 2 options Iso and XMB, there you can change the speed
The PSP's PSX emulator isn't 100% compatible. This is known. This is also a known issue with POPS, so unless you're going to convert a PSX emuator's save file from the other side of that cut-scene, you're going to be waiting a while. And judging by all the positive replies, I'd say this is pretty safe.

After all he's done, what's there left for DAX to do, aside from produce 3.04+ OE-A (once Sony creates it). I guess he could make it so we have full-res videos in /video instead of /mp_root, but I can't think of much else. Either way, I salute the man for his ingenuity and resourcefulness (and releasing the source code for his tools)

wow, all i can say is WOW!,
had a new psp over christmas, stupidly upgraded to 3.03 official, started reading qj and decided to trade in my console for a second hand one (great condition) firmware 2.70,
came back and started :
2.70 - 2.71 - 1.50 - 3.03OE-A - 3.03OE-B - and now upgrading to 3.03 OE-C!!
fantastic, i cant believe how damn clever Dark_aleX really is, credit to the guy he is amazing.
and for those of you with psp's that you cant downgrade, get it traded in against one you can downgrade, you really will never look back.
am now happily playing megadrive classics and pokemon emerald in fullscreen in the palm of my hand :)

thought I could use the old DXAR file which was probably the reason I didn't get the updte done. Now I've installed it properly all the announced features work like a charm and it says OE-C in the system information. Excellent job and sorry about the unjustified doubts.

Recovery mode is used if you "brick" your psp, or wish to adjust certian settings on yuor psp. CPU speed, plugins, etc
and y cant you run those iso's? it be on your part why there not working, not just DA's...im wiling to help tho...i had the same problem a while ago but i fixed it, email is shadymnms@yahoo .com

I was at 1.50 ponderign updating to the OE-C firmware. Well I took the plunge 2 days ago, and I won't turn back its great.
About the only thing I had to do was reload all the Homebrew, delete the folder and recopy to the psp to get the homebrew to work. just FYI in case you upgrade and get nervous your homebrew doesn't work.

I just downgraded my 2.00 psp to 1.50. it went great, then upgraded to 3.02 OE-A went graet again
i just tried downloading and flashing with this update, but every time it says, 'this game could not be started' (8002014C)

You can just boot up Devhook and use it, you know that right?
where are you putting the update files? if its in GAME, put it in GAME150

All you have to do is obtain the recovery files, (you dont get them with 3.03oe-C mind), and put them in the correct place.

Thanks on your massive contribution. Is there a way that you can modify the firmware to allow for a way to sort all of the homebrew icons + remove all of the corrupted homebrew icons. While everything is near perfect, this particular thing about the icons has driven me crazy since day one...

Awesome update, i've got the dxar file made, just waiting to get back from class to flash it now. One thing i can think of for an update is a way to organize all the files in the game menu ie. put the games at teh top of the list or whatever. I used to use pspsort, but it doesnt work too well with the custom fw's because of the game/game150 folders. Other than that, this seems freakin sweet!!

Everytime I'm dragging and droppin' my icons to update I always think, "Man.. how the Hell does he DO this kind of stuff?" He's absolutely amazing and he is the BEST "go-to" guy for homebrew. Top of the list he is, my good sir.

the corrputed icons can be hidden by enabling the option in recovery menu
well I'm happy that I at least have something to look up to instead of having my head down.

I just upgraded from 3.03 OE-B to 3.03 OE-C
It works and I don't think you can actually brick it with this update as Dark_Alex included several checks in this update.
It checks if you are using the right updates and it checks again before updating the actual firmware.

Obviously you havent googled or looked into it all (homebrew) you have to go to recovery mode Configurations-> and where it says 3.02/3.03 kernal press X on it and it will say 1.5 kernal, then your homebrew should work, and if not make a game150 folder...3.0xOE-x runs all homebrew (unless ohterwise noted by the Developer of NEW homebrew)

I was wondering where Dark_AleX disappeared to...!! Quite a while since the last release..but by looking at the changelog I see why it took so long!! That's really a HUGE update,

When you update to a 3.0xOE-x (any Open Editon Firmware) you USUALLY have to go to recovery mode (which can be found in one of the original OE firmwares probably 3.02OE-A) put recovery in your game folder...then press and hold the power switch so you turn your psp off (hold for like 5 secs) then turn it back on while holding the R trigger, a pink screen will come up, this is RECOVERY mode, go to Configurations-> there will something about a 3.02/3.03 kernal press X on that option, it should now say 1.5 Kernal enbaled (or something like that, as long as it says 1.5) now you should be able to run the update, the reason you have to do this is because when you first update sometimes you cant run homewbrew and the update is homebrew, dont worry tho you only have to do this once...if you ever have any problems with Open Editon such as running iso's or hombrew just email me at shadymnms@yahoo .com, i hope i helped
I am almost to the 2nd Disc and have had zero problems with freezing. Try extracting the iso from the FF7 disc again. I just have had minor graphic glitches, but I'm on popstation 3.03, it ran fine in 3.02, but I didn't install the 3.02 patch for popstation.

I had a problem with FF7 freezing at the opening cutscene also. I had initially ripped the iso using nero. Once I switched to alcohol 120, no more freezing. Maybe try using a different ripping program.

the only problem i have found is with PSx games that use CD music files
- i've tried numerous ways of extracting and converting ps1 games that have cd tracks,
i've tried the modified popstations etc but can never get a fully working game with music...
i either get a track or 2 to work but none others or no music at all............
Can you make the psx emu redirect to the mp3 folder and play a random track from there??
im sure its probably just a case of just altering the psx emulator to look in the mp3 folder rather than looking for the cd track...???
would also cut down the size of the eboot conversions by doing this (although you'd have to keep 20 or 30 mp3's on your memory card, but at a lowish bitrate??)
or can you make it WMA or OGG compatible?? (free up more space??)
hope you can update or incorporate this in a future update OE-D???
as i, as a lot of other people mainly use our psp's for games - not films or anything
so how about an edition aimed at us gamers who dont want film stuff taking up our flash space????

okay first of all i have always kept my oeupdmaker folders there until after the update, but you probably could delete if you wanted to i dont cuz i just wanna be safe...you can (as it says in the 3.03OE-C readme) update directly from 1.5, and honestly i dont see the point in updating to 3.02OE-A to 3.02OE-B and all that crap but once again its up to you............Just follow the direction correctly by putting the correct files in the oeupdmaker and 303oeflasher folders............once you update, if you want to run homebrew you'll have to do this ( i just copied and pasted what i said earlier to different post, samethings apply, you can email me too ).........................When you update to a 3.0xOE-x (any Open Editon Firmware) you USUALLY have to go to recovery mode (which can be found in one of the original OE firmwares probably 3.02OE-A) put recovery in your game folder...then press and hold the power switch so you turn your psp off (hold for like 5 secs) then turn it back on while holding the R trigger, a pink screen will come up, this is RECOVERY mode, go to Configurations-> there will something about a 3.02/3.03 kernal press X on that option, it should now say 1.5 Kernal enbaled (or something like that, as long as it says 1.5), the reason you have to do this is because when you first update sometimes you cant run homewbrew, dont worry tho you only have to do this once...if you ever have any problems with Open Editon such as running iso's or hombrew just email me at shadymnms@yahoo .com, i hope i helped

Location Free player CAN be loaded off the Memory stick. Just boot up Devhook and tada, location free player.

Takes about 30 seconds to boot into Devhook (I use FW 2.82 under it) and it work perfectly.
Also, ISO's play a LOT better under Devhook (GTA is my best example) than they do under OE itself.

u can't just add features that weren't there to begin with. GET THIS THROUGH YOUR HEADS. the reason the video was improved because there was a cap limit that $ony implemented so that user created video didn't play full rez. dax broke the code that limited the video playback. he did not add new features. every feature of the custom firmware was something that was already there but just limited. geez. dax doesn't have the source code of the psp firmware where he can create whatever he wants to add.
I'll ignore the fact that you're a liar, and if not, you were actually dumb enough brick a second psp after it "bricked" the first... Dark-Alex doesn't make fake flashers...and they always work ;)

prx's are user created files that can be created with a c dev environment and the open source psp lib. they are plug-ins. the only 100% original code found in the custom firmware is the recovery menu which boots at startup with a button press like the previous 1.5 custom firmware. features may be added to the recovery menu because it is homebrew code. xmb features cannot be added douche. 333mhz overclocking is a feature that is already there but capped. again the cap was broken. other than the recovery menu, and hacks to remove caps of already present features, point out 1 new feature that is added to the xmb that isn't in the official firmware and i will take back what i said. 3.03oe is a STILL a combination of 1.5 and 3.03 firmwares. the reason homebrew works on 3.03 is because of the 1.5 bootstrap dumbfvck. it's $ony's code that's combined with the newest official $ony firmware. hacks are present yes and modifications have been made to $ony's code but any ADDITONAL features that aren't found in the official firmware are not possible to add to THE XMB! plug-ins are entirely different from xmb features a$$wipe. as far as features like loading pops music files from a folder on memstick is ***** impossible because that feature is not already present in the psx emulator and the psx emulator would not know how to interpret the change. you can't just magically add something. maybe you're just thick and can't comprehend it...but it's true killa wigga wannabe.

u need to create a new data.dxar file with the 3.03 and 1.50 extracted psar's. it's a major update and requires it. it's not a simple run the update and you're done. read the readme.

Should the updatemaker creat that data.dxar file? or is there a different way to make to dxar file. I've read the readme, and done everything it says, and it still says "cannot read file" for the 150.PBP
download both updates. change the name of the 1.50 update from update.pbp to 150.pbp. change the name of the 3.03 update from update.pbp to 303.pbp. place them both in the update maker folder and run the maker.

Hey How do I change the CPU Speed so I can play a game without it lagging?
Yeah you know what I followed the instructions, did the recovery mode for kernels and I also moved the apps to Folder 150 and some of the homebrew no matter what still wouldn't boot they would pass the boot screen, screen would go black and the psp rebooted. It didn't do it for all my Homebrew, psp revolution, and Dh 51 worked fine but Mapthis and WifiSniffer I had to delete the folder and reload.
SteroidMitch, Maybe you should research yourself, this is a known problem that some may experience that homebrew may need to be deleted and added again for it to work even after recovery mode kernel has been set. idiot.

What you have to is to put oeupmaker and oeupmaker% inside the PSP/GAME150 and then put 150.PBP and 303.PBP inside the oeupmaker folder. run the update maker.
I think your problem is that you put 150.PBP and 303.PBP at wrong folder so that when update maker trying to open 150.PBP and it cannot be found because it wasn't there. i hope that helps.

don't kno much bout this but you can rip games into iso form then shrink them to cso and play thru ur memory stick by placing the ripped umd game into the ISO folder also for homebrew just place the folders into GAME150, its pretty basic i know but thats all i can figure out jus now. btw thanks dark_alex and hopefully there will be a way to play DAX files in the next update

You can upgrade to 3.03 OE-C from 1.5, 2.71 SE, 3.02 OE, or 3.03 OE. So, user, you can go straight to 3.03 OE-C, just in case you needed confirmation.
Go to your recovery and enable the option "hide corrupt icons" in configuration and you'll be just fine, but the loading will take alittle longer.
YES! does RE2 work? if your able to get past the RPD station using CW cheat and a psx emu for pc it crashes later on walking up stairs by the dark room -.-
you'll need to hold the r button even before backlight comes on. To downgrade to 1.50. You n eed to download the right 1.50 update of your psp region and rename it UPDATE.PBP and put it in your recov ery folder and your off. Bye bye CFW, hello 1.50? Your choice unless your S-Brick
There's an OEUPDMAKER in mine... try to redownload or something... No you can't use the DATA.DXAR from an older version... you need to make an updated v. of the DXAR and I don't think you can use a previous OEUPDMAKER either because I think DAX must've modified oeupdmaker so it added extra stuff to the generated DXAR file... but you should be able to use the 303oeflasher from a previous version... I'm not 100% sure but I would guess you could :/
.., they meant it should be made so we can just put a small locationfree file on our memorystick somewhere and go to the locationfree icon in the menu and load up locationfree... it would be a lot faster than loading up devhook and starting it up plus it would take up way less space as we only have to put the locationfree files on our memory sticks, not the entire FW.

-When formatting memory stick, GAME150, GAME303 and ISO directories will be automatically created!

i was using capture plugin and now it 's not working anymore the only thing i did was format the memory stick

Try turning your PSP completely off and restarting and if that doesn't work, try going to recovery and disabling, then enabling the capture.prx... sometimes plugins stop working for me and I do something like this and it works.

Okay it really shouldn't take 30 mins to generate the DXAR file. It took me 5 minutes, max, to make mine. Maybe try redownloading the 3.03 update and try w/ the new one... and just hope it doesn't freeze up when installing the actual FW

when it was done i verified the crc, it matched
flashed my psp
flashed my brother's ta-82 psp with same dxar file, just moved memory card over, yesterday he finally agreed to let me flash his 2.8 firmware ta-82, all that downgrade stuff worked like a charm to get it up to 3.03 oe-b, just to have to update again!

Wow, Sony memory sticks are extremely slow... I know with my Sandisk, the DXAR was made in 5 mins, but I guess with Sony you never know how long it can take to do simply procedures ;/
I wouldnt do that! There is hardly any memory left on the flash memory in our PSPs! I wouldn't suggest even touching your flash unless you are very skilled and know what you're doing... hehe aparently I'm skilled... I just pimped out my PSP with the awesome new USB flashing option :) No need for XFlash anymore... I got all my options set up. God, DAX is gonna make ALL current homebrew obsolete... first devhook, now xflash... of course xflash is still useful for noobs or those who just want to be very sure they don't brick their PSPs. But anyways... no I don't suggest putting any prxs onto your flash... even if you managed to fit that thing on there, there's a txt file which loads the modules and you would have to add a line of text to it to make that work I think... it's best to just use OE to load prxs from the memory stick!

Hey guys with 3.03 OE-C, I'm currently creating the dxar and it's seems to be taking a little long. How long did it take you to create the DXAR? It's been about 40 mins and it's "Extracting and packing 3.03 firmware..."
Edit: I got it to work and I installed 3.03 OE-C successfully.
What I did:
Removed UMD from drive
Re-downloaded the 3.03 eboot
Changed CPU speed to Default
Used a different memory card, a sandisk 512mb (was using a 2gb Sony)
Something I did triggered it so do the above and it should work.

Did you restart or are you still at that error messege? Since it messed up at the 3.03 part it should be safe to turn off and you should have recovery mode (can anyone verify this, I'm not like the PSP master or anything). I think you're DATA.DXAR is corrupted somehow so you should take the OEUPDMAKER folder and rename to RECOVERY and make sure the 303.PBP and 150.PBP are in the folder and run it through recovery and make a new DATA.DXAR and then transfer the DATA.DXAR to computer and rename 303OEFLASHER to RECOVERY and put DATA.DXAR in it and run it on your PSP and it should restart installing 3.03 OE-C... That's all I can think of... btw: did you verify the MD5 of the DATA.DXAR and see if it was correct with what it should be (says it in the readme)?

you have no idea what your talking about. if you did you would never mention HEND. HEND lets you run homebrew on 2.00-2.80. this FW we are talking about is 3.03 oe. you do not need and homebrew enabler because its already there. and you dont need to emulate any FW cause this has all the features of homebrew and the lastest FW.
are you asking if you can devhook (emulate) this FW. if so the anser is no. tell your frend to downgrade his ta-082. i did it works fine. tell him to look for the ta-082 downgrader on this site

Okay for you guys who diddent noticed some Iso's fso's don't work on OE I dont't know why but then when you force it to 2.0 it work's trust me. i couldent get it to work on Oe so i emulated 3.03 on devhook still dident work to load that iso but then i change settnings in devhook to foce umd to 2.0 and it work so I need to lood *****ing devhook every time i wanne play the game it's okay about the devhook part but i have a 1gig and vice city cso tak 890 MB i have to install and uninstall every *****ing time i want to play the *****ing game so maybe you should shut you dum noob mouth closed !
Its the memory stick thats the problem. Like someone above has said, the 1gb sony memory stick takes a very long time, for me it took an hour n half. I think this is because theres more security on it.

If i try creating the DXAR file using my 1gb sony Mem stick it takes ages (more than 25min) However if I use my 2gb sandisk mem stick it only takes a couple of minutes (about 2-3).

How do you play downloaded psp roms on the custom firmware. Do i need to download another program.

yeah i meant that. using hend on fw 2.71 and then running devhook to emulate 3.03 oe. somedoby (not me ^^) said that it should work, but devhook has to support it (and atm it doesn't).

Booster is still doing a great job too! The biggest new thing in this update IMO is the ability to edit yoyr flash form the recovery menu! That is awesome! Make a dump easily, edit whatever you want easily without loading uop filer or anything. This owns!

where can i find the recovery files? (that go in the recovery folder) I went from 3.03 oe-b > 3.03 oe-c. then i fomated my memory stick. then i tried reinstalling 3.03 oe-c to see if it would make the recovery files, but it didn't. Now I need to know if i can copy paste the recovery files from my backed up 3.03 oe-b recovery folder (saved on my PC). If not, where can i get to recovery files. Thanks in advance.

I'm kind of new in this. I have just installed 3.02oe and tried to run FFVII game. I got an error msg. 80000004. I read the psx_readme.txt and was told to run the game by using the on board nand.
Could someone tell me what is this on board nand? And how to use it?

I upgraded my PSP from 2.71SE-C to 3.02OE-A and I set everything as it was in 2.71SE-C but I could not play my ISO's without the UMD in the drive. So I downgraded to 1.50 and I finally upgraded to 3.03OE-C and again I have the same problem. In Recovery Mode the setting which are "Use NO-UMD" Enabled, and in Advance "Plain modules in UMD/ISO" Enabled and I still can not play my ISO's with out the UMD, if I do it would just freeze during the game booting up.

I have a problem thats pissing me off. I am trying to update to OE-C, but when I try I get the "cannot read file" problem. I have both 1.50 and 3.03 updates in the oeupdmaker folder which is placed in the game150 folder. they are named 150.pbp and 303.pbp. and it still doesn't work. Can someone please help me with this? or give me the dxar file so I can update? Please.
Just curious but didn't someones Wifi module burn out at 333mhz, thus being the reason why Wifi was blocked from working at 333mhz?

i updated to oe-c but now my recovery option to go back to 1.5 is unavailable can i reload oe-a? or is there some other way to get back to 1.5??

as far as i know the update maker checks the data dxar itself after creating it.
psp is well capable of running at 333mhz and its the cpu not the wifi that is increased.maybe it was blocked because you would have an unfair advantage playing a game like burnout over the wifi if you were running at 333?
the no.s in the readme are there incase you downloaded the data dxar and want to check it before you risk your psp,i think,mayb someone else can confirm

Hey I downloaded final fantasy 7, and in the message log where I downloaded it people were saying it works, so I know it's not the download. I'm on 3.03 OE-C and I put the final fantasy pbp and key file in a folder called Final Fantasy 7, and put it in both the Game150 and game303 folders, both times I get a "cannot start this game" comment. I heard something about needing hot shots golf to play PS1 games? but it's not anywhere in the readme's after I download.

this is how to make the DATA.DXAR and to install this update. first off you will need to download these things
Checklist:
1.5 Firmware eboot (available for download on this site
3.03 Firmware eboot (also available from this site)
Dark_AleX's 3.03 OE-C Custom Firmware (Link above this post)
Ok, now ready for some hands on. Once you have the 1.5 firmware eboot on (what i am assuming is your Desktop) Rename the eboot.pbp to 150.pbp; extract your 3.03 firmware to desktop, then rename that eboot.pbp to 303.pbp.
Extract the "303oe_C.rar"; copy the oeupdmaker and oeupdmaker%, along with the 303oeflasher and 303oeflasher% to your E:\PSP\GAME150 If you are using firmwares 3.03OE-A or B, E:\PSP\GAME if you are using anything lower than the OE's.
NOW, since i am assuming you are using 3.03 OE-A or B, go into your "E:\PSP\GAME150\oeupdmaker", drag and drop the 150.pbp and 303.pbp and drop them in the oeupdmaker folder. Once that is done, grab you're psp, go to your Game icon and scroll down to where it says Memory Stick, select it, then select "3.03 OE-C Update Maker", now it should boot into something simular to DOS. Now it should just go on and make you're DATA.DXAR and it will take a few minutes, wait til it is done. Once it is, look at the paragraph below =)
Now you hook your USB chord up again and you go into "E:\PSP\GAME150\oeupdmaker"... Cut (or Copy) the DATA.DXAR , and paste it into the 303oeflasher folder located at "E:\PSP\GAME150\303oeflasher", once that is finished, unhook the usb wire and go back to the Game icon, Memory Stick, but this time select "3.03 OE-C Firmware Install".. once that is loaded hit your X buttem to agree with the terms and stuff, then the rest involves no labor (except if you arent patient..LEAVE IT BE!!!)

I am surprised though as it says an ISO folder should be automatically created after a card' format. Yet, it is not the case with me: no ISO' folder to be found. I created one in PSP, but the machine won't find the ISO' games I put inside.

this question was answered before; you can upgrade straight from firmware 1.5 to 3.03 OE-C, the recovery folder is E:/PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/EBOOT.PBP (the v1.5 firmware eboot.)

to answer some of the questions -- follow the directions that people are posting, i know there are jerks on this forum, but some of the people are nice enough to post a more detailed instruction on how to upgrade properly.
Chance of bricking? I have tons of friends who have PSPs, at least 20 friends. None have bricked, as long as you're following directions, so to answer myself's question, the chances are less than 5% so far, with my friends anyway. (it would be incorrect to say 0% even though no one has bricked ... due to human error, statistical chance, etc etc).

I bought a PSP a couple days ago, so far what I have gathered it's the TA082 with the 2.71 OS. Well, my lovely friend decided it would be a good idea to upgrade to 3.03 of sony's site just when I thought I was getting somewhere.
Some problems that I did run into were.
1.) "oeupdmaker" files and anyother files are seen only in "PSP/GAME" not "PSP/GAME150" which I figure is right because my psp was never a 1.50.
2.) Another problem was that when I tried to run and of 3.03oeA, 3.03oeB, and 3.03oeC. I would always get a corrupted file message.
3.)I've never gotten the PSP to make a DXAR file either. Even when I got the 2.71 Homebrew launcher to patch.*Never let friends who think they know it all touch your PSP! They update it and get you screwed*
Alright, so my PSP is cherry from the Sony 3.03 update. What should my plan of action be to get this thing running homebrew and everything else i can put on it? lol

hi ive done as instructed in the readme but getting this message when i run OEUPDMAKER " invalid PBP file " when it first checks the 150.pbp file
i used and renamed this file downloaded from this site( Psp Firmware 1.50 File (eboot) North America )
Make sure that the 150.PBP file is inside the OEUPDMAKER folder, not the one with the "%" behind it.
all files are in the correct place. i did all the other updates without problem.

See....hhmm..long story..shorter version.... gf bought me psp, her bro gave me GTA:LCS to trade or whatever.. too lazy to do so..kept it about a month..found the exploit. lucky.
My friend say's he uses DevHookor something like that and he is able to run homebrew/ISO's(and something else that's a compressed form of ISO?)/and normal UMD? But i've been looking around this site since I started delving into the wonderful world of PSP customization and liked what i've seen from DA's CF's.
So now I have 1.5 and am not much into the emulators/roms since i've been playing them on my laptop for a while (except for the PSOne) and was wondering about the major capabilities of this DA's updated CF. Two major factors to sell me are..With this OE-C would I still be able to play my UMD's normally, and would I be able to play ISO's from the memory stick. (I apologize as it seems that many of the developers are against piracy. O.o)
As for playing UMD's..would I still be able to save games onto the memory stick like on the normal official firmware? And as for running ISO's and whatnot, how would saves be while playing those?
Sorry if these questions are dumb and or irrelevant (ISO) to the site and community, but I did just downgrade my psp only two days ago. O.o BUT I do learn fast and was able to follow simple directions to complete it. 2.71 -> 2.80 -> 3.03 -> 1.50 *not sure if that's correct but I think that's how it went* I went from 2.80 or something like that to 3.03 to get back to 1.50 when I saw the exploit. Oh damn..sorry..I talk alot.

I am able to play UMD ISO's from the memstick and am able to save on the stick just like a game playing off the UMD.. Im playing my GTA:VCS off my memstick (raising my empires as we speak), and PSX ISO's require a little more knowhow you need popstation and older PSX games at your fingertips either in ISO format or on the actual CD (PS1 official game discs or backups for the old modchip days), if you dont have the ISO (CD Image technical lingo), download a program like blindread or whatever CD image thinger you can get your hands on. convert it with Popstation, then throw it into your "E:/PSP/GAME" folder.. dont toss the ISO directly into your ISO folder.. confusing? try reading up on it if this doesnt clarify anything ;)
OK LAST TIME I REPOST THIS.. You can go straight from 1.5 to 3.03 OE-C, you dont need to download OE-A or OE-B. PLEASE READ PREVIOUS COMMENTS AND REPLY'S BEFORE ASKING QUESTIONS THAT PEOPLE SHOULD GET BRICKED (pun absolutely intended) FOR!
Hhmm..tyvm Velthazar, that clears up the ISO and saving format with them fairly well for me. I could probably do research on any questions about programs to use/installation within the next day. ok, i have followed the readme, read the forums etc... but everytime i try to run the update maker it says "cannot read file". the 1.5 FW is copied to PSP/GAME/oeupdmaker and renamed 150.PBP, as is the 3.03FW (only renamed 303.PBP). any help here would be a HUGE relief. have been running devhook while hubby has been running the custom 2.71 FW on his (cause the DH could emulate 3.02) but now am VERY eager to update to the CFW 3.03. a 25fps avi file to 29.9 it leaves traces when theres fast motion,

I use imtoo and b4 all of this it was easy, convert,place on memory card and away we go, but now i convert place on memory card go to play but just get corrupted data. please can anybody help me??

Hey guys, everything seemed to go well, but now after I try to load a game from the menu, I get that old "This game could not be started" message. I went to system info and it showed the proper new info, but I don't know how to access this menu/rescue menu people are talking about. Someone said hold down R trigger but nothing is working. Ugh I thought this would be so cool and easier than devhook x.x =(.

I have PSP with fw1.5 and I wanna ask some questions to make sure before upgrading the firmware.
The questions are:
1. Does homebrew applications (that running in fw1.5) also run in this fw3.03 OE-C?
2. If I already have upgrade to fw3.03 OE-C, does I still DevHook to play PSP ISOs (right now I'm using DevHook 0.46 to emulate fw2.71)?
3. Is there any applications converting PSOne CD games into ISO (or whatever its format should be), so it can be played with fw3.03 OE-C?

Why do you need to be at 1.5 firmware to upgrade to a custom firmware? Why can't you just upgrade from a regular Sony firmware to a custom one?

Hey guys. Great work with the hacked firmware, it's been a god send. Loving playing all my old console games on the handheld :-D
Quick question though, I'm a PSP n00b, and just wondering if I do connect to the interent to enable WMA playback and the Flash player, would that effect the firmware? Just don't want the evil Sony empire to spy on me ala Microsoft with their "Consumer Improvement Program"

Quickly browsing through the posts on here, I can see many people who are paranoid about downgrading the TA-082 motherboard PSPs. Myself, I never had a problem, and was running 1.5 FW on mine in no time. From my research, I found the most common cause of bricking is flat battery, or switching it off. It is scary when it comes up with a black screen or the blue screen, but it's normal if you read the readme files on the zip files you would download. Just make sure you download a real one lol. The TA-082 just needs the TA-082 downgrader kit, it can be found in heaps of places. HEN-D is good for something ey :-P
D'oh, silly me, I just checked the 'Recovery menu' and it lets me enable those features in there. Should have known better than to doubt Dark Alex and the crusade against the evil Sony empire. Peace guys

i have aplauded u guys for soo long, but iv ran into a small problem. i have a copied version of the grinch and it doesent seem to wanna work. i have thps 2 on a regular psx cd and it works fine but my question is, does it have o be a regular psx cd or can it also be a copied psx game
The reasons I was sticking with 1.50 is to have all my hombrews running. Especialy IRSHELL. Everyone saying to upgrade to 303oe-c to get the best of both world. You can run all the homebrews, and so I upgraded. Can someone tell me where to put the right files in the right place. I have been putting all the files, (s9xTYL files, DGEN files, and all the games files), in GAME150 folder, and that would not work. I need help before I downgrade it back to 1.50. I am so frustrated, I need my Mario World on to go!
Boots, should work in the GAME150. I'm assuming you have the corresponding s9xTYL% directories etc. (or the %__SCE__...) to get rid of the corrupted data icons.
Yeh after i *****up the downgrading last time, i now worked, didn't for got the 1.5 eboot :P! And running 3.03 OE-C yes!
But what is popstation, is that for the ps1 games? and how do i install it because the readme doesn't say and the exe says its missing a dll file.
And what about the iso's? I downgraded it for homebrew but if i can run it it would be nice :) .
