This holiday season just keeps getting better for PSP homebrew users. Obviously, listing all of them would just be considered as wasting time, so I'll get right to the purpose of this post. Dark_AleX has just released the much anticipated update to his earlier custom firmware, 3.02 OE-A. And as promised, the new version will allow you to play your own PlayStation titles, rather than waiting for Sony to release them.
The only new feature in this release is the ability to play your own PlayStation titles, so I won't write up a changelog. Secondly, you can only get 3.02 OE-B on your PSP by upgrading from 3.02 OE-A, which means that if you're one of the few who haven't upgraded to 3.02 OE, it's time to do it now! Once you're on 3.02 OE-B, it's best to check out the readme.
The instructions for converting your PlayStation games to the POPS format are included in the popstation folder inside the archive. Here is a list of FAQs that Dark_AleX has included in the readme:
- Q: My game generated is a lot bigger in size than the same one from the PS3 Store.
- A: They use compression. Because the algorithm of compression is not still cracked, compressed isos are not supported yet.
- Q: I have my game in bin/cue.
- A: Use the bin as the ISO while converting.
- Q: I have my game in img/ccd...
- A: Use the img as the ISO while converting.
- Q: The savegames have the icon of Hot Shots 2!
- A: It's normal. Don't worry.

I really dont get it...
Execute popstation.exe from the command line. You have to pass one parameter, which is the filename
of the iso. e.g:
> popstation yadayada.iso
This wont work for me.... okay... i'm no friend of DOS....oO

A#2: i try to open popstation.exe and it tells me to F off. Well, specifically it says "cygwin1.dll was not found". I reffered to the readme and it talks of going to the PS3store to get the iso, but i thought this was for converting your own PS1 games - ie. actual game discs you own. Im gonna go grab what few ones i didn't sell off for ganj when PS2 came out and I'll post again with the results. If anyone is reading this and laughing their ass off because I'm doing something horribly wrong - get me at yahoo (SouthtownZ@yah oo.com).

you convert iso's which is the typical format you will find them in on filesharin, or just make an iso from the game usin alchahol120% or nero
but that would be piracy and thus illegal. Why not jump on Ebay and buy a couple of the games you want to play the legal way? You can get most ps1 games for next to nothing now a days, except for a select few... If you want to ignore all things moral though, I guess I can't stop you...

It says that you need the hot shots 2 game from the playstation store to play your own PS1 games but how do you get it with out a PS3.

For those querying Final Fantasy, it shouldn't matter about changing discs - Final Fantasy allows you to save your game before loading the next disc. All you have to do is switch off the game, change the eboots (or "discs") around, and load it. It SHOULD work fine.
I'm trying to install OE-A on my 1.50 psp... I looked up a 3.02 updater, but it has JP next to it. Is it okay to go ahead and use it?
Also should I just use 1.50 +devhook, or is OE actually better?

I have one question now, the readme says if I want to use my own pics/icons, I just have to put them in the same folder as the image with the names ICON0.PNG, PIC0.PNG and PIC1.PNG. But it doesn't tell me the size, does anybody know which one I have to use, I want to create some by myself?

While playing, hit the home button and go to screen mode, select full screen from there +)
just check the original files
you can always save at the end of a disc. Simply load the second iso and load your savegame to continue

I'm having a little trouble with the popstation program (You must have heard that a million times by now :/). Okay, to start off, I'm using DBZLegends.img, and yes it's NTSC. After like half an hour, I finally got the command right, but now it says 'Cannot open DBZLegends.img'. I even tried changing the extension to iso, but it doesn't work.
Where can I find them, aren't they in the EBOOT.PBP? I don't see any pictures in the folder of the PS1 games.

I just wish that they would find a exploit on 3.00 as i heard that sony patched it 3 times now that it might get hacked soon espeshally with all this 3.02 oe dev hook hacks about, or im gunna have to buy a new psp ! and hope they have 2.60 on and upgrade to 2.71 and then dev hook it

ok many 3.02 oe-b user happily playing backup ps1 game. i just updated from oe-a.
my problem is in oe-b, i try again the crash bandicoot eboot which is officially from ps store. when i run it from memory stick under game menu of the xmb, as usual i see the official ps1 psp statement saying bla bal bla and so on. then it just hangged and psp turn off.
when i downgrade back to oe-a, the game seem to work again.......why? any1 can help...? thanks in advance

whenever I use popstation, I get an error that says
"Cannot open (Name of game).img"
I have tried this with several games, and it always says this. Can someone post exactly what they did to get theirs to work?
The problem is that popstation needs some information that is stored in hot shots golf 2 and it would be illegal to distribute that data. I think that was what happened to booster when he disappeared for a while, that he had distributed the firmware dumps along with his DevHook (I don't know for sure though)

It's a command line program...
Open start->Run...-> typ in cmd and press ok.
Go to your popstation folder (e.g. cd psp\psppopstati on) and try again.

im really having trouble, i have gone over guide lines and created an eboot through pops but when i add it to my psp and boot it in the xmb menu it goes past the psx warning and then doesnt load
i have tried it with a few games i.e ntsc and pal but still won't work with any!

i put the eboot in just a random file name in the game folder, would this effect it?
When I downloaded (not leagal of course), I got a folder called "SCUS94476" that I put in my game folder and that worked well. But I'm afraid I don't know how you should name yours...

hey guys ive been having toruble with pops I got the cygwin1.dll file into system32 and got the hot shots golf 2 eboot and renamed it to base.php and the have the keys and dat file named document all in the same folder with my ff7 disc one IMG file together but when I try to run it from and type in "C:\Documents and Settings\Sifu TP\Desktop\pops tation\popstati on.exe" Final Fantasy VIII CD.ISO all that happens is it pops popping up and then closing anyone know what im doing wrong?
It seems to be taking an awefully long time to load. Waited a few minutes now and the PlayStation logo hasn't even shown yet. Just sitting at a blank screen. Hey, Psy, you said you got it working? How long does it take to launch the game on your PSP?
I used Nero to make an ISO. My Plextor drive couldn't read all the files on the original disc, but my Samsung drive managed it, or so it seemed.
When I try to open the popstation thing, it opens then closes out. Anyone know what's going on?

I made a CCD (with Alcohol120) out of Legend Of Legaia, made a few pics in PNG, ran the popstation and ET VOILA! Put that on the PSP, and it runs smoooooth!

I have OE-A setup so I can run homebrew from the GAME folder rather than GAME150... Can I put the update into the GAME folder and run it just fine, or shoudl I change the setting in recovery mode to run homebrew from GAME150 and run it form there? And just a little side note, it's PSP/GAME150 not PSP/GAME/GAME150 right? Any help would be apprecited :)

your post have strengthen my confirmation that the problem is the gameboot issue. i had my original gameboot changed to other like bloodclaw gameboot.pmf. now i know that we must have original sony gameboot in order to pass through the bla bla bla screen. thank man !

replate the dot "." with the backward slash...
by the way.. anybody tried skullmonkeys yet? coz mine doesn't work..
You must use cmd (or command on older windowses) and use the cd (change directory) to go to the root of popstation, and from there you just run the command "popstation your.iso"
Little slow on the uptake...have a 1.5 with the usual suspects of emus - running great and I don't want to change a thing. How does this relate to my 1.5 firmware? Would rather have what I have than PSX, both would be great! Any info would be appreciated! Thanks

Got some nice presents this christmas but the one Dark_Alex just gave us beats them all.
Had .iso rips of my old bought FF7 game for the PS1 already so got them made into eboot fast and works like a charm, with only a few minor graphic glitches (which is probably because my FF7 is PAL version).

Rule #1: Your PS1 game(s) has to be in ISO format. Not BIN, CUE, or whatever. If you want to convert your game image to ISO, use this program called MagicISO.
Rule#2: Cygwin1.dll has to be present in C:\Windows\Syst em32\. If not, drag and drop it into there.
(example: C:\Windows\Syst em32\Cygwin1.dll)
Once you have your ISO and say that it is metalgear.iso, make sure that the ISO and everything else needed is in ONE FOLDER TOGETHER.
Now, click on START and goto RUN. Yes... the "Start" on the bottom left of your screen that is part of Windows.

And in double quoation mark ("like this") it will be the path to your popstation.exe file.
(example: "C:\Documents and Settings\YourCo mputer\Desktop\ popstation\pops tation.exe")
Now... hit the SPACE key, on your keyboard. Now in another double quoation mark, type the path to your ISO file.
(example: "C:\Documents and Settings\YourCo mputer\Desktop\ popstation\meta lgear.iso")
So the RESULT would look like this.
C:\Documents and Settings\YourCo mputer\Desktop\ popstation\pops tation.exe" "C:\Documents and Settings\YourCo mputer\Desktop\ popstation\meta lgear.iso"
Now, press ENTER on your keyboard and it should tell you that it is converting. and you'll notice that the EBOOT.PBP file is being generated.

Okay I have cmd prompt open i drag popstation onto there it creates its cmd line bla bla bla C:\documents and setting\name\de sktop\oeb\popst ation\popsation .exe
Okay after that I drag in my RE2 bin and it creates its cmd line that should be it shouldn't it? But it doesn't work all it does after you push enter is give you some bullsh*t msg that it can't open the bin. Thats not what I want, I want it to convert WTF.
Somone explain exactly how the F you actually make this thing work f*ck put up a video even. That should help all the not so techy people out.

I think there is maybe a way to fix the problem with PAL PSX Isos. There are some Pal to NTSC Converter in the Internet. I trie now one of them. I Convert first my PAL PSX Iso in NTSC and then i convert the new iso with popstation. Have tried this anybody else?

I fixed Alundra from PAL to NTSC (the grappy icons are gone). But same problem as before (free space on top of the screen and lose of some space at the bottom...).
I take the key and the .PBP from tekken2 and it works great. you should try if it not works with hot shot. hot shot didn't work by me, the program opens and then it closed.
It works great!! Just installed it and tested it with Dino Crisis 2! And it works like a champ, if you don't know how/where to get Hot Shots Golf 2 then you shouldn't worry about it.

Yes, that's the main point of OE (Open Edition), and SE (Special Edition) as the old 2.71 version of this was called. Also Dark_AleXs custom firmwares has a recovery menu which you can use to reinstall 1.50 if you partially brick

Put the popstation folder in the ROOT of your C drive
fire up DOS Prompt
type cd..
and again cd..
then type cd popstation
You should now be in the popstation folder....
Now type popstation silenthill.iso (no space in the name)
should work now... you should see a list of text, wait for a bit, depending on the iso. the PBP is being generated.
put the EBOOT.PBP and the KEYS.BIN in a folder and copy to X:PSP/GAME
Okay I finally got my thing to work. When You start up the DOS does it automatically shut off? if not then u have to manually find the "popstation" folder in the DOS menu (easier if u just place the popstation folder right where the command line is)
after that, put the Syphon Filter EBOOT.PBP and KEYS.BIN file into the popstation folder.
Rename the EBOOT.PBP into BASE.PBP
when you have the ISO file inside the POPSTATION folder also, in the command DOS type
C:\Documents and settings\Craig>cd popstation (this gets you into the popstation folder)
then this will come up
C:\documents and settings\Craig\ popstation>
now type "popstation "file name"
take example i did final fantasy 7

I'd have to say this is the single most f'in awesome thing to happen to psps since the 2.6->1.5 downgrader. I already thought playing the couple of psx games on psp was completely awesome.. but this is in fact one hell of a christmas present.

Hi, I just flashed my psp and everything works fine...doesn't seem like something went wrong or anything, but somehow, how do i get game isos to appear on XMB? I renamed the original GAME folder which has all my 1.50 homebrew into GAME150, and created a new GAME folder and put my isos there, but they don't appear on XMB..so i need some help here. Appreciate the help and thanks in advance.

If your filename has spaces in it you must use quotes. In Dos, ie popstation "slient hill.iso"

Doesn't work for me so far, after all the process all I get is a black screen after de white letters when you start a psx game. The home button works though, so I don't have to reboot the psp.

One thing to keep in mind is the Game Save. As it's called Hot Shots 2 regardless of the converted game I would maybe back it up if you have more than 2 converted game on your MS.
Would be a pisser if you got quite far into a game Gran Tourismo and then run something else that has the autosave on.

Hi, I'm having the same problem, I think it has something to do with PAL/NTSC, because first it was just blank, then when I tried converting region with some program it showed the PS logo, but it didn't get any further than that though
They're going in the ISO folder on the root of your memorystick, just like with devhook if you've used that before
It's just the freeplay or something that has been removed, the browser and system settings work fine, you just have to go there once and crash so that it can rewrite your configurations and then there will be no problem
I'm on 3.02 OE-B, my game folder homebrew is 1.50 kernel, and all the files seem to be in the right place. Yet, whenever I run a game, it only shows the white text, then it accesses the mem stick/hard drive and then gives an error message of 80020321 and a "the game could not be started". I've tried it with two different games now and neither one works. Any suggestions?
I got that too, but I tried converting PAL to NTSC and then it hangs up on the PS logo instead, so my guess is that we need original NTSC (+USA) games

Well, can't get FFT to work. I've ripped the image from my NTSC-U/C PSX disc (the Greatest Hits edition) to ISO, CCD/IMG, and CUE/BIN formats, then ran popstation on it (with my Hot Shots 2 EBOOT.PBP), and every time I try running it on my PSP I get: "The game could not be started. (80010002)"
One of my favorite games Legend of Dragoon is working flawlessly as far as I can tell, havent gotten to the disc switching part yet tho.

I can only get as far as getting the "popstation" prompt file into "cmd" and then I drag the file.iso/bin file and then it says "The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect" what am I doing wrong?

godfrilla, if u want to use ur PS1 games, u gotta plance the folders in the GAME folder and configure the XMB to launch the GAME folder as the 3.02 Kernel. To do this, you can go to the RECOVERY menu by holding down R, hit X @ configuration and hit X on the GAME FOLDER HOMEBREW. I tried all this and the work fine (even with debranding)!

Wow, I made a stupid mistake, but after fixing it FFT still won't work.
I had forgotten to add KEYS.BIN to the EBOOT.PBP on my PSP (in \PSP\GAME). Now that I've done that, I get error 80000004. :-P
Open the command prompt (cmd) using the Run command. Navigate to where the popstation folder is on your computer. Now type in, without quotes, "popstation.exe NAME_OF_ISO.iso". It'll do it's magic, then you copy the resulting EBOOT.PBP and KEY.BIN into the PSP\GAME\GAME_N AME folder on your Memory Stick.

fire up DOS Prompt
type cd..
and again cd..
then type cd popstation
You should now be in the popstation folder....
Now type popstation silenthill.iso (no space in the name)
should work now... you should see a list of text, wait for a bit, depending on the iso. the PBP is being generated.
put the EBOOT.PBP and the KEYS.BIN in a folder and copy to X:PSP/GAME

Works. Woo hoo. The problem I think most people will have is when making isos your discs cant be scratched.
With all (or at least most, I can't say I'm 100% sure) custom firmware, you have the option to return to whatever FW if you don't like the custom FW. There's only no turning back with official sony updates. :)

Maybe you have it in the wrong folder. if you have the game folder set to 1.50 kernal, put in in game, if you have it set to 2.71 kernal, put it in game150. But either way you can put it in game150 and it should work, I think, so try putting it in the game150 folder, if there isn't one there, make one ;)

This link has some some PRX modules (http://forums.qj.net/f-psp-firmware-discussion-253/t-se-c-prx-loading-compatibility-thread-80310.html), download the VCS CheatDevice module and there is instructions how to install it in that thread, but if you have the MP3 module installed, disable it because the MP3 module and VCS CheatDevice module don't work together.
i can confirm that using another game from the ps3store will work. first i put the psx game (evil dead) in my pc cd drive, then used alcohol 120 to make it into and image. it turned out to be a mdf file. i named it to evildead.mdf, then ran popstation from the cmd prompt and typed in popstation evildead.mdf
then pushed enter. it started working and after awhile, it created an eboot file. i then copied the eboot plus the key file into psp/game/evildead and ran it from the xmb. worked perfect. im very impressed. thanks for your work DA!

Well anyone who knows me knows it would take a christmas miracle to make me change my stubborn ways, but if Dark Alex managed to convince me to upgrade from 1.5. In all seriousness, read the readme.txt file that comes with popstation. Read the entire thing before starting, and follow it to the letter. Anyone giving you step-by-step instructions here would simply be giving you the exact same info you already have.

I cant seem to get the Popstation to work. It keeps claiming that the .dll is not found, but it is there, and I have replaced it with several different downloads (including the one supplied here).
I've given up trying to convert them myself and have resided to asking for someone to do it for me, if I provide all the ISOs (they are all in bin/cue format... if that is any problem).

One more thing: I am only converting 2 games: Chrono Cross (both disks) and Final Fantasy Tactics.
It's a cool integrated Emulator and the NTSC Games work fine... but in Europe all have PAL Games!

99% of my games do not work. They're my own games, used UltraISO to make two formats. Iso and Bin, and when I use popstation, all I get are bank screens, or the logo loads, and nothing else.

Not everyone is the same as you and it does not work for everyone.
So what happens when you're playing a game that has more than one disc, and you get to the part where it says please insert disc 2?

Did you read the part in the readme where it says to "Execute popstation.exe from the command line. You have to pass one parameter, which is the filename
of the iso eg. popstation castlevania.iso" after you change directories to the popstation folder

checked in today to see this OE-B firmware and nowhere in the download page or the linked page does it say requiring OE-A to install. so I load up the OE-B update folder and run it, now it's all broke. the PSP turns on and just sits at the black screen with the power light on then eventually shuts off. so i open up the readme and it just casually says 'this is the update from OE-A to OE-B'.. i recommend at least putting it in BIG BOLD LETTERS ON THE MAIN LINK PAGE THAT THIS WILL BRICK YOUR PSP IF YOU DONT HAVE OE-A PREVIOUSLY INSTALLED

It's not hard - This is what i did with the popstation folder
-Put it on root of C:
-Take all files from hot shot golf 2 and put inside foler
-Put FF7.iso in there and RENAMED it CD.iso
-Opened up Run (this is the part you're probably stuck on - DO NOT RUN CMD - just type in the name on the "open bar"
And it'll say "Writing this, that everything blah blah. Hope that helps

I downloaded it from a torrent site, but before image iso size is 712 MB (747,435,024 bytes), and 714 after. It only takes a few seconds to boot and get past the playstation logo.

PAL version patched with zapper2k to NTSC works fine. playing since 20 minutes.

try the generic zapper2k or download pal2ntsc patches from megagames.com. already running the german version of vargant story and the german silent hill.
If anyone is wondering, this is the error I keep getting:

This problem is probably due to using incompatible versions of the cygwin DLL. Search for cygwin.dll using the Windows->Find/Search facility and delete all but the most recent version. The most recent version *should* reside in x:\cygwin\bin, where 'x' is the drive on which you have installed the cygwin distribution. Rebooting is also suggested if you are unable to find another cygwin DLL.

den u wait. copy the newly created eboot.pbp together with the keys.bin(from hot shotgolf 2 or crash bandicoot) to ms0:/PSP/GAME/NEW FOLDER(any name)/put here.

I Finally got my psx game converted(Heart of darkness)
I took the eboot file and the key.bin file that was produced by popstation and putted it in the game folder for 3.02 kernel acces.(not the 150 folder)
I boot it up and all i get is this damn error code.
It's the second game i tried.
It's converted from a Bin/Cue file and not iso.
But that shouldn't be a problem normally.
I have read somewhere that the code 80000004 is something like:no correct data...?
What did i do wrong,cause i don't see the problem.

I followed it exactly- 1000%., even with three different isos but it justs comes up with the error: Windows cannot find 'C:Documents'. Make sure you typed the name correctly and try again. But I have made sure that I typed it correctly.
the roblem is yr gameboot. i bet u must have flashed other gameboot previously. try flash back to original sony gameboot of other smaller size gameboot tat must not more than 196 kb.

I was making the ISO image incorrectly from my original game discs. I tried using ISOBuster instead of Nero and got it to work. Extract the disc to an image using RAW mode. ISOBuster is a pretty decent shareware utility with no expiration. At least version 1.6 that I'm using is.

Hey, guys and congrats to Dark_Alex for making a breakthrough in the psp hombrew scene. I know alot of you have a ta-082 motherboards and i am very sorry for you guys. But i got the problem on the computer side you see im running vista x64 rtm final and when i place cygwin into the sys32 folder and launch popstation, it just loads and exits immediately. I would really appreciate it if someone out there would make a gui version of this say through c++ now im not begging, im just saying if you feel like helping out a fellow psp user than go ahead im sure there are 1000's of n00bs who dont really know how to work this thing (i do btw lol). And is it ok if i use the crash bandicoot eboot instead of the hot shots. Any help will be greatly appeciated. And thanks again dark_alex for making this the best christmas for the psp hombrew scene.
If you're not on a TA-082, then you should downgrade to 1.5, then upgrade to 3.02 OE-A, after that, you need to upgrade to 3.02 OE-B to be able to play your own PSX backup games.

pls remember next time when u hv this error simply means:
u din set the GAME folder with correct kernel. go to recovery menu n set it whether u wan it to be 3.02 kernel or 1.50. den problem solved.

Here is the help the nobody could explain like 4 hours ago
-Take this Cygwin1.dll file and paste it to your C:/Windows/System32/
-Now in the "oeb" folder, open it and go to the "popstation" folder
-Get the Hot shots 2 game here and get its keys.bin, and put it in the same directory of the popstation.exe, then copy the EBOOT and rename it from EBOOT.PBP to BASE.PBP
-Backup your psx CD to a cd image, using the ISOBUSTER program and then extract the ISO/BIN/CUE or whatever you see as a Image file. If you don't have a PSX game, them Download them from this Website (click me)
-Move the .ISO/.BIN/.CUE or whatever you see as a image to the same directory as the popstation.exe (ex.MetalGearSolid.bin)
-Rename your .ISO/.BIN/.CUE or whatever you have as a image to CD
-Go to the START menu on your Computer, Then hit "RUN"
-After that a small window should pop up with a empty address bar thingy, and next to it will say "Open:"
-Paste this in it ("C:\Documents and Settings\your user name here\Desktop\oe b\popstation\po pstation.exe" "C:\Documents and Settings\your user name here\Desktop\oe b\popstation\CD .bin") without the parenthesis............ ( )
If its for the ps3 downloaded ver. you have to collect 3 of those "thingies" which takes you to a "bonus" stage, when you complete that, it lets you pick a save file for the game. the "bonus" games are once every 2 or 3 levels. or you can just find the cheat codes for levels past where you are currently, like gamefaqs.

If it was my decision, I would go with a solid "no". unless you want to wait "even longer". I mean, so far, they have had some sucess with the 82's, but I mean, they are coming along nicely with them, it would be a shame to update to 302 and find out tomorrow the 82's were decrypted. I dont think you would be able to play the "own psx backup's" either--not too sure on this, but i think its only OE-B's that can do this. (and A if i remember the readme correctly)
Everything installed (and works) successfully, with the exception of homebrew, my isos run fine (haven't had the chance to test any PS1 games yet), but all the previous homebrew I had gives me the 'The game could not be started' error. I've never been to 2.71 SE, so I wouldn't know if maybe you had to change anything, but, might anyone be able to help me solve this problem? T_T I miss my Snes9xtyl already....

I will give someone, anyone (the first to help me) who is able to help me get devhook 0.51. I have formatted my memory stick (to 1.5 boot) and I have the autoinstaller from her. I install it (multiple times) and I get to the devhook screen. From there, I have managed to boot NFL Blitz (the only game I know that requires higher firmware) but I can't get to the XMB menu. Also, other games dont start (I get the corrupt blue screen and then it resets itself). Please, someone, anyone, help. I will paypal at least 10 bucks to someone who can explain what I am doing wrong. I have downloaded some PS1 games and I can't even get to the game menu in emulated 3.02 to play them. HELP!!!

With final fantasy is easy because it gives you the chance to save before the disc swap, but mgs you might just have to transfer the game save to pc, get past the disc swap on epsxe and then put the save game back

Rename Eboot file to base.pbp and copy to popstation folder
copy hotshot2 key file to popstation folder too...
Copy PSX file ( must be ISO ) to popstation folder.. and rename the file to "image.iso"
Go to Start in Windows > Execute > cmd > .... to popstation folder and make the command "x:cheatpsp/popstation image.iso"
If you not an *****ass and follow my tutorial correctly the file as start convert process...
When is done Copy created Eboot and COPY the key of hotshot2 to your choised folder and copy this folder to PSP/GAME..

what app did you use to make your iso? i used alcohol 120 for FF7 and MGS. alcohol wouldn't take my FFt disc. I ended using nero and magic iso but no success.

just be patient. right now there isn't any exploit found in 2.81 yet. once found there will be a new version of generic downgrader (hopefully from dark alex again) for u but remember u can't downgrade 2.81 to lower than 2.50 coz lower than tat it will 100% brick.
well if there is a downgrader 4 u, at least u can downgrade to 2.71 and use HEN-D to play iso game + many homebrew. Cheer up mate.

I used nero to start and had the same problem. Use iso buster to make an image in raw mode the use pop to fix the image. worked like a charm for me. By the way, does anyone else have a problem with FF7 US crashing during the opening FMV? just wondering.

I'll help you for free. Don't need money, so don't bother. I had the exact same problem, but easily fixed it an hour ago. I was running 1.5 and having problems with devhook 0.51, so i reformatted my stick, downloaded the auto installer for 3.02 OE-A(you can downgrade, don't worry), and installed 3.02 OE-A. Everything works like a charm now!
Stop your howling and read this man's post. He has provided you with everything you need, if only you follow his instructions.
Go to Rapidshare. Download the files he has provided. Unpack the RAR with the password he has given you. Follow his words.
Here is a few extra pointers.
Make a directory that has a very simple path. Like C:\ALEX (note that this board might remove the backslash that should be there). Copy all the things you need in there using the explorer.
Open a shell like this: Go to the Start button. Click on it. Come over to the 'Run' menu item. Click on it. You now see a box into which you can type commands. Type 'cmd' without the quotes. That opens a command line interface. You need to change to the directory into which you put all your booty. So type CD C:\ALEX (again the BBS may ruin this - there's a backslash between : and A.
You should be in the right directory. Type DIR to confirm this.
Now make damn sure there are NO SPACES in the name of the .ISO

In the Command Line Interface type:
popstation image.iso
and it will spend some time fussing with it. Out comes an EBOOT
Put that in a folder. Copy the keyfile into that folder. Copy that folder to the GAME folder.

ARRGG! I put the keys and Eboot.PBP of my FF7 and yet I get this error!
I've researched this and it seems ISO's that weren't compatible with the accurate firmware got this error when they played them.
Problem is I HAVE 3.02 OE-B installed and ready to go! I moved all my homebrew in the PSP/GAME folder to PSP/Game150 with no problem.
I moved my newly created ISO file named "EBOOT" along with the keys I got from Hot Shots Golf 2 into a Folder titled "PlaystationX" (as the readme said I could name it whatever I wanted) and I start the game from the Memory Stick menu and it comes up with "80010002"
I don't know what is wrong but I'm open to suggestions!

I Got the Hot Shots Golf 2 EBOOT & KEYS files and ran popstation with a Ridge Racer ISO and am now playing Ridge Racer with a HSG2 icon. Does this mean I can play any compatible PS1 game with these EBOOT & KEYS files as long as I have the ISO for the game I want. I'm glad I finally got this son ***** to work, but now I'm almost as confused as when I started.

did u set correctly your kernel folder in recovery mode? if u set to 3.02 for GAME folder, u gotta put yr ps1 eboot to GAME150. i set mine to kernel 1.50 for GAME folder, so my FF7Disk 1 folder can be inside the GAME folder (coz my GAME folder act as kernel 1.50) together with other emulator n homebrew.
I was trying to play my own back up of Power Stone which is in CSO format & I can't get it to work at all! I can play my ISO back-ups but not CSO's? I checked the settings in the recovery menu and I can't seem to find a setting to fix this problem? Anyone else running into the same issue?

I got just one stupid nOOb question: i am still on 1.5 and I really want to upgrade to 3.02 OE-AB so I can play my PSX games. But I want to do it savely so I wanna use the auto installer by Chaos. But wat does the installer do? Does it instal 3.02 OE-A or does it just extract the files in the good places? And do I need to format my MS first. Plz somewhone answer my question.

First DH wont work on 2.82. Second DH cant play PSX games jet. And third you can play PSX games only 3.00 and higher so you have to wait for a 2.82 DG and a better working DH. Or when you are DG go to 3.02 OE-AB.

in c:\ make a folder popstation and put everything you need in there.

I think I tried everything: I got different ISOs of FFT, I tried using Syphon Filter as my BASE instead of Hot Shots 2, I tried putting the resulting EBOOT in GAME and GAME150, I tried converting Castlevania:SOT N instead of FFT, I even tried using different versions of cygwin1.dll. Nothing worked at all.
Then, on a whim, I decided to reboot my PSP. IT WORKS SO GLORIOUSLY. FFT's graphics are absolutely perfect, and the sound has an odd reverb that is totally rendered moot by the fact you're playing FFT on a PSP.
Just for reference's sake: I used Syphon Filter for my BASE.PBP and KEYS.BIN, and the latest cygwin1.dll from www.cygwin.com. I put the resulting EBOOT.PBP file and KEYS.PBP into /PSP/GAME/FFT.

Enter recovery mode by holding R when the psp starts up and make sure the Game folder is set to FW1.50 Kernel access. For some reason it only worked when my GAME folder was called GAME and not GAME150.

For games like "Mortal Kombat Trilogy" & "Alien Trilogy" they have music files, and the bin files reads them from the cuesheet.
I've tested both of these games, and they're flawless, with only 1 problem. No Music for either game
Could someone help me out, in explaining how to get the music to work in these games, now that they're in "eboot.pbp" format?? Thanks alot

ok i have oe-a but i am have a problem upgradeing to oe-b. i did every thingg that the post told me to,but when i go to run it all i get is a corrupt data screen!what iam i doing wrong?
When I download the oeb.rar, I unrar it fine, and copy the OEB_UPDATE folder inside the J:\PSP\GAME\GAM E150 folder... so the folder is now like this...
J:\PSP\GAME\GAM E150\OEB_UPDATE\E BOOT.PBP
When I disconnect the USB, and scroll over to Game > Memory Stick, theres one icon there, but it is Corrupted Data.
So when I try to run this, I get "This game cannot be started. The data is corrupted." message.
I tried putting the EBOOT.PSP inside the GAME150 folder, like this...
J:\PSP\GAME\GAM E150\EBOOT.PBP
Which if I then went to Game > Memory Stick would then show the "3.02 OE-B Update".
However, when I run this, it looks like it's running, makes the noise and the PSP logo comes up, but the screen comes back with the error "The game could not be started. (80020148)."
I have formatted the memory stick after each stage up upgrading, any idea where I'm going wrong?
now someone just needs to release an app to give the actual name and pictures with the ps1 game, not hotshots

I got Xcom - Ufo Enemy Unknown Running, it plays fine however the music slows a little in the base menu

I found some images that i thought looked pretty nice for the Final Fantasy Tactics PSX game.
Here is the link right click and save as ICON0.PNG in your popstation directory before you create your eboot for Final Fantasy Tactics

!Note! When you save a game using these images the PIC1.PNG does not transfer to the save file. If you would like to see it in your SAVEDATA files you will have to manually copy it into the final fantasy tactics save game folder.
hey ppl.. i wanna know.. since there is kernal access on that custom firmware... im on 1.50 right now.. if I install that dark_Alex's firmware and dont like it.. am I gonna be able to re-instal 1.50 firmware?

I have a 1.5 PSP, but I was hoping to use my spare 2.51 instead, since I love the DH Custom firmware. The 2.51 was a launch day version, so I know it can't be one of the newer motherboards. Is it possible for me to go directly to one of Dark Alex's firmwares ((2.71 SE or 3.02 OE)) without risking a downgrade?
Also, can I go directly from 1.5 to 3.02 OE-B, or do I need to go 2.71 SE-A, SE-B, SE-C, OE-A, OE-B?
