Ó
Here's some good news for those of us looking forward to a new custom firmware for our Sony PlayStation Portables, after the coming of the official 3.80 firmware beast from Sony itself: it seems that none other than Dark AleX himself is working on it, with the official firmware itself already dumped and decrypted. Awesome.
This comes from a forum post from the Sony PlayStation Portable developer himself, in a thread that talks about the official firmware being ripe for the picking. The post, verbatim:
Well, I will not be updating psar dumper until 3.80 M33, as for decompression it needs the 3.80 sysmem function for the new algorithm, but sysmem is also compressed with it. I'll be using the ipl function for internal decryption.
Straight from the homebrew developer's keyboard, and definitely good enough for us. Here's to a quick and flawless release (as always)!
Thanks to Black_Omega for the tip!

well here's the full quotes..
DAX MAKING A NEW CFW?
Quoted from Dark_Alex on Maxconsole Forums..
I may code a nids resolver inside firmware, but that will take its time as finding the function equivalence between modules is annoying (very easy but very annoying)... but it may be the best solutions, as programmers will get tired of having to change the nids of their apps whenever there is a new cfw, as it seems Sony will be doing this all the time from now.
ALSO QUOTED..

Btw, SilverSpring, there is a "03g" now. Would it mean they are gonna implement the missing hardwares there?
01g = psp fat (all motherboards)
02g = psp slim
03g = top secret, but looks like a new model may come. Wether it is something totally new or just something to defeat pandora, is unknown.
Anyways Sony is slow creating a new psp. They started the slim back in 2.71

Anyhow, I am kind of scared of this 3g psp that Dax is referring to... :(

Beyond that, I like the idea of the built-in changer but I hope it isn't too much work for DA.

Possibly an attempt to kill Pandora...

His FW works with the PC PSN store purchases and has extra remote-play features enabled as well.
I donate to both projects.

respect to both DAX and HX.
I run the latest M33 firmware, a good friend of mine is running the HX cfw. I can say for the both of us: cfw's running great on our Phatties.
and i also like the x in both DAX and HX.
respect (holds fist to chest and taps it twice...)

Its just a matter of them putting a lot of care in to overlooking small loopholes that give us access.

I wonder maybe DAX's definition of retirement has been misinterpreted some where.... either way it's great news, and welcome back.
