Dark Alex notes on PSP firmware v3.80 changes - Image 1With Sony's PSP firmware 3.80 now in circulation, it was only a matter of time before the homebrew community would get around to cracking open its inner workings. With that said, we've picked up word that developer Dark AleX is already on the case, and has made some preliminary observations on this latest build. Here are his and jas0nuk's notes so far:
  • jas0nuk
    • They now know that with Pandora, we can always access the flash, so they've focused on locking down the PSAR and changing the format of the files/flash. Just more tactics to slow down decryption, but it won't work.
  • Dark AleX:
    • They have only changed the keys of the tables of filenames.
    • The prx's keys are the same than in 3.7X.
    • However, there is a little surprise in a form of new compression algorithm called KL4E, this time sysmem and loadcore are also compressed.
That's all to report for the moment. Given that the firmware release is just a few hours old, expect to hear more details in the near future.

Playstation Store Games + CFW

hey Fabian, M33 doesn't reformat the flash2 drive, so the playstation store can't write data to it (that's where it stores the DRM info). All you need to do is mount flash2 in windows, and format it as a FAT disk, unmount it again and all should be goot. Dark_Alex has said he's gonna address this in his next unbricker/flasher
