Custom firmware 5.50GEN-D now out |

It seems the fix for the 480x272 AVC problem didn't affect custom firmware 5.50GEN-D's release at all. The new custom firmware from GENyUS is now available for download.
Here's what's new:
- All features of 5.50GEN-B2 are available
- Ability to run 5.51 + games without having to patch it (UMD or ISO)
- Possibility to launch PSN demos requiring 5.51 + without having to patch them (as MGS for example)
- Possibility to connect to the Playstation Store by the using of MEDIAGO, to retrieve games and goodies without having to install Fake USB or other complicated stuff.
- Possibility to use the XGEN Updater to install the official firmware 6.10 (use it only if you have a Pandora XGEN to be able to return later in Custom firmware)
- 480x272 AVC Videos ere supported

alright, thanks! ... but I'll wait some time till users say their opinions. I am still in 5.00M33-6 CFW, and I wanna install just STABLE firmwares. I hope this is stable and doesn't brick my PSP. As I am not familiar with the "pandorization" and stuff :/
works great, no crashing, very stable
all my games seem to work .
tested: FFdissidia, Soul calibur (the new one), dragon ball
all homebrew and plugins also work (CXMB, Irshell etc)
Holo, it works well, I've tested every game on my mem stick including rockband to see if it'd delete my games if i quit out via xmb, it doesn't.
SuperSZ, I like it alot, I'm sure you'll read more about it. It also has a Pandora option in recovery menu.

turn off cxmb and most plugins before installing as it may lead to a full brick, enabeling them afterwards is fine :)

I think you can upgrade from gen b2 and even from 5.00m33 ... they wouldn't force you to install gen C first, which can brick your PSP

some people say to go to B but you put the 5.50 fw in your mem stick so I think its safe to assume you can just update from m33 to GEN-D
even if you can do all of this with Gen-B, I hate having to do extra steps for stuff, I'd rather install this, and load my UMDs, or ISOs rather than extrating the php to patch it. So technically no you can't do all of this with GEN-B because you have to patch ALL your new games on GEN-B. If you personally don't want to upgrade, I respect that, but don't request them to stop making FWs just to appease your need for the "big step" maybe decrypting this one and getting the games to run on it, further help them understanding how to hack the new one.
no, not yet. ... anyways, I was mainly saying before that you don't need to go to gen-C , I mentioned 5.00M33 but I'm not sure. Users recomend to update from gen b2. ... I don't wanna be the first one to update directly from M33 to GEN-D ... just in case
Works perfectly. MS is loading a bit slower than usual but everything is fine. Well fine in the stuff i use.

Netfront Browser does NOT work on 5.50GEN-D with a WPA wireless network (even flashing the htmlviewer_plug in.prx is useless). I flashed my 5.50GEN-B2 htmlviewer_plug in.prx back, but now it freezes the regular internet browser, so I'm pretty sure changes were made to htmlviewer_plug in.prx in 5.50GEN-D.
The playstation store doesn't seem to work for me :/ I was only able to sign up. Gives me the message "A ssystem software update for the PSP system is required."
Oh well.

After testing D I found this out.
Works after patching with IRSHELL GEN-B Patch by Yoshihiro(gets rid of the NO UMD inserted Message) but fails to load Backups unless you have decrypted the eboot for 550 and up games.
Waiting for Yoshihiro to make update Gen-D IRSHELL.
Also really, what a lame splash screen after game boot http://www.pspgen.com Enabled, GTFO.

At least it doesn’t show if the game is already decrypted, make an option not to show it in the vsh menu or just run it one time.

And Dark Alex is not here, and he hasnt put out anything since M33-6, so stop crying. Dark Alex CFW weren't perfect either, but this guys are doing a great job as well. You should be a little more thankful. Its because this guys are working hard, that you can enjoy games, without going to OFW 6.10, and not having to buy them. IF you have problems with those issues, its because you did something wrong. I installed the same thing you did, and everything is running fine.
There is something wrong with all gen firmwares.
When I am using the Daedalusx64 emulator and try to play Mario 64 with sound on my psp2000 always freezes up and turns off. On the other hand, It does work if I turn the sound off or if I play any other game with sound.
And the same emulator has no problems on my psp 3000 with 5.03 MHU or my PSP1000 with 5.00 m33-6

We bash this firmware because it sucks and is useless. It does nothing better than Gen-B and 6.00 games STILL need to be patched for this trash. It also can brick systems and deletes all your settings. This is NOT worth Updating to.

Tried OE legacy, fail to initialize WLAN.

By "wireless problems" he probably meant my post about the homebrew Netfront Browser that enables all RAM for the browser. It doesn't work with 5.50GEN-D with a WPA network, but the regular internet browser works fine still. The Links2 browser also can't work with a WPA network

I just upgraded from GEN-B2 to GEN-D, and so far no problems encountered.
For IRshell -> just patch it again after updating, using Yoshihiro's patch, it worked fine for me.
For Already patched games -> they will still work, just remember which driver they played before; either M33 or SonyNP9600.
For Emulators -> works fine for DaedalusX64 Alpha R 436 and gpSPmod.
For Plugins -> works fine for cxmb, wallpaper changer, music, UVM and hold.

Yes, that's what this custom firmware version was made for.
Apparently they changed a lot in D. Some flash0 contents appear to be different, and they may have had to format flash1 in order to fix the wireless WPA problem.
I had the same issue, all i did was enter recovery mode (hold R while turning on) and enable vsh and M33 Driver.. Hope that helps guys

Mine was mapped to "O" because it's a Japanese PSP, but the new CFW switched it to "X".
And people still wonder why no one's willing to make anything for us CFW users these days. Apart from Team GENyUS of course, keep up the good work GEN!

use WEP encryption to fix for now or just wait until the GEN team fix this.

it formats the friggin flashes before it writes.

Can somebody test if the FuSa Gamepad is working with this 5.50 GEN-D on FAT? For some strange reason it works with GEN-A but with GEN-B it does not.
i cant get smackdown vs raw 2010 working on gen-d on my phat psp, i even tried decrypting and it wont boot up, just freezes on a black screen.
time to update from 5.00 m33-6.. but i wanna know first if these homebrews works on 5.50 gen-d

Hey guys, I haven't been into homebrew or even PSP at all for at least a year and a half by now, but I recently had 5.00 M33-6 installed until today when I installed this.
Everything works without problem, only I wonder if there isn't any way to get past the PSN FW check. I haven't been able to use internet Remote Play for about a year and not PS Store either.
Is there any help to find? If so, I would be really happy for all the help I can get. I tried googling a bit but I only found old threads everywhere.
Start up your PSP from a cold reboot and hold R. Find Registry Hacks and activate the O button instead of X.
That feature has been there since 3.70 M33 or so, at least for a long time :)
Go jump out of the closest window to you, make sure its high up (around 6th floor should be ok).
I'd like to point out that most of the -2, -3, -4, etc stuff of M33 were either minor (read: doesn't affect *most* people), or improvements to existing things that already work fine.
You can check the changelogs. Less 'noticable' bugs, and more minor things, and a lot more 'improvements'.
But yeah, GEN does deserve some respect, and deserves no bashing whatsoever. Although personally, nothing in GEN still catches my attention, and I'm still happy with my M33-6 and the wonderful Memory Stick Speedup thing which is still bounds faster than fatmsmod. And ALL the homebrew/plugins I use work with it (some didn't in GEN).
The day that feature appears in GEN, and when more actual 'features' come out will be the day I switch over. Or at least until a game that I REALLY want to play doesn't work on existing M33 offerings.
Decrypting simply bypasses one step of the FW's job (decryption).
Sooo...anything you've already decrypted should work, whatever the revision you use it on.
Everything's working perfectly now, thanks Team Gen. Internet is fine, PS store is fine, all the other known bugs are gone. Still missing 1.5 kernal, but it's not too bad, just miss some old emus and one of my old favourites - PSP Millionaire lol. Anyway, ty a lot, love you Team GEN.
I see that you say both PSN and Remote Play works. I'd like to know how you did it, because I went from 5.00 M33-6 and installed this. Everything works except for PSN and infrastructure Remote Play. RP for adhoc works splendid though, what could be my problem?

seem to have an issue just running the installer. Currently running CFW 5.50 GEN-B, everything else works, except the 5.50 GEN-D installer. When i try to start it, the screen goes black and nothing happens. I can't back out with the home button and have to do a hard reset and its fine after that. This happens EVERY time i try to run the installer. Anyone else having this issue? and did you find a solution?
using psp-1000 5.50 GEN-B, I have the same problem. Everything else works fine just a blank screen when I run the GEN-D installer

plz help guys this is my problem; i downloaded it (gen d) put all the ***** on my psp (550.pbp etc...) and i appears in the game folder but wen i load it, it does the thing i hate the most, exits straight away and says; error the game could not start (80020148), IM GOING FREAKING INSANE! btw im on gen b2, motherboard TA-081 psp phat ive tried everything like format flash1 and disable all plugins but nothing works plz help me!

hi i recently posted bout it not loading (the installer) but ive gone past that but now i have a new problem, it freezes upon "extracting PRX" then shuts down, the same thing happened with the gen c update, im on b2 atm, TA-081 plz help me
i got gta cw to work by compressing the patched iso and it works fine
The installer ran successfully. Initial restart was successful. I could not run any ISO/CSOs (Tried Dirt2, NFS Shift, Indiana Jones). I powered down, restarted to recovery menu. Enabled M33 no umd, and vsh. When I backed out of the recovery menu the PSP would not restart. Got no dispaly but the power light stayd on for 20 seconds or so... back to the recovery menu, put settings back. Still could not restart the PSP in any mode. Removed the MS and it boots. Once booted, popped the MS back in and loaded Dirt2 (with UMD in the drive, UMD mode set to default) Game started this time. Played a quick race. Pushed the home button to exit the game... PSP powered off. Going to try formatting my MS, but man, this is not promising.
Wow, I was an M33 fanboy until Disgaea 2 and Dissidia. Gamestation were selling a new Dissidia for a tenner so I bought it and found my M33 wouldn't play it. Did some research and now I'm happy as a bee on Gen-D2. It's brilliant! I was worried it was some crappy hack of a firmware but it's just like M33 just without the memory stick speedup.
Since all my PSP games are UMD I don't care about that!
Seriously to anyone still on M33; upgrade. I have no respect for DA when he won't upgrade his firmware.
Formatting the MS did the trick, everything seems to be working fine now.
hey guys, I think i f'd up :(... instead of selecting [Flash install CFW 5.50] I chose the second option - [Flash install OFW 5.50] and now I can't even play my old games... What am I supposed to do now, go trough the whole pandora process again (which btw a friend of mine did it for me a few years ago). I searched the forum and no one was as stupid as me... My psp is a phat1000, TA-082 and it had CFW 5.00 M33-6 (before f'ing up)
