Custom firmware 3.72 HX-2 released |
Ó
Sony PlayStation Portable owners take notice: PSP homebrew developer CoolJ popped by the QJ.NET forums to herald the coming of the latest custom firmware by his good friend _HellDashX_, namely custom firmware 3.72 HX-2. Not only does it sport a lot of changes to make the unlocking of your handheld's fullest potential a lot easier, but it's also bundled into two updaters to minimize the amount of fuss and tinkering around with your PSP. Cool beans, we say!
So, what's new with 3.72 HX-2? Here's _HellDashX_ with the changelog to get us up to date:
Changes:
- Contains the latest 3.71 M33-3 changes.
- The file vshctrl.prx IS NOT the one from Dark_AleX,It's coded by me after reversing it 100%.
- The exported functions from the vshctrl.prx are the same like the 3.71 M33-3 SDK,plus two more:
- int vctrlVSHEraseIsoCache(con st char* path) -> Lets you erase the cache from an iso created by the CF.
- If the parameter is empty "",it will erase the whole cache, not just from one iso.
- The iso cache will not be created in the memorystick. It will be in the flash1.I made this function to test stuff faster.Gives a 0 if it deletes correctly else it will give -1.
- int vctrlVSHMakeCFDirs() -> Lets you create the custom firmware directories,in case you dont have them(GAME150,GAME372...) in the memstick.Good if you have a pandora memstick and cant format the ms but dont want to create all directories by hand.
- Only one vshctrl.prx for both psp models. In 3.71 M33-3 and others there was a vshctrl for the fat and an other one for the slim because they have slight changes. This new vshctrl will detect if you got SLIM or FAT.
- Other non important changes in the code.
The release notes itself did not say anything about what issues will occur when you use the wrong updater, but you really wouldn't want be the one to find out, right? Along with checking the firmware of your handheld, we heavily recommend reading the release notes first before doing anything.
Thanks to JumpR for the tip!

does anyone know how we must get 1.50 kerner on this version? or is it just the same as in HX-1?
THIS VERSION IS CRAP
to coder: stick to a simple name... that it self
looses interest.....
I've been out of the country for a few weeks. I didn't recall seeing a 3.72 m33. Did a search but didn't find anything solid on 3.72? Or somehow I am just blind (
the m33 team didnt make 3.72 M33 but _HellDashX_ did and called it 3.72 HX-1(That was the first version). This new 1 is 2nd version but i wud stick 3.71 M33-2 or -3 cos IRShell doesn't work this yet. The 1.50 kernel came out for this just now too.
qj mistyped. there is only 3.71 M33
I'm too lazy to install this right now (it took me months to update from 1.50 to devhook, then months to swich from devhook to OE, then months for me to switch from OE to m33... So, my question to those of you who have tried this, is it worth upgrading right now (from m33), or should I just let the trend continue and wait. And please, no dark alex fanboys posting. I don't want to hear people saying "HX is not made by Dark Alex, so it sucks". Seriously, I want to hear some real feedback on the HX (negative or positive. It's all good).
Just stick with the m33 firmware your on.
Theres nothing you can't do on it, right?
We don't need to upgrade if all our games and homebrew run. Am I right? That's how I see it :/
This is the first time I bricked my Slim grrr... what should I do? I still have my Fat ones with CFW 3.72 HX-2. I tried to update on my Slim and then bricked. How the fock that happen? I follow the step exactly I did from my Fat ones and not the Slim.
Thank you. You have an excellent point. I guess I'll hold out until Dark Alex reveals he's Hell Dash, whereup he'll release m33 4.11.
:)
Normally I'd refer you to
http://stores.ebay.com/psp-unbricker
But seeing that you already have a custom firmware PSP, just go ahead and make a Despertar Cementerio, and use that.
The CFW 3.71M33-3, because M33-3 is like having the CFW 3.72HX-1 or HX-2? Because M33-3 have few updates too, if u just take some files out of the 3.72 OFW to make the 3.71M33-3 remote play functional again, after all that was the only think updated on that OFW...
And what is so different of having a new CFW 3.72 HX-2, if it do all the same like the CFW 3.71M33-3, and all the games release are runing on the 3.71...Even runing on the CFW-3.52 M33-4 that is even more older. So what's the point of making a New CFW 3.72 HX-2 if doen't make the big difference? I mean the only diference is that it doesn't run some of the homebrews made for the CFW 3.71 M33-3, or am I wrong? Think of that!
Thanks!
i followd the instructions to get the kernel ad-on on 3.72 hx-2 and it said it works no brick andd in the recovery mode i can change the kernel to 1.5 but home brew that needed 1.5 dont work any help out there?
but all the homebrew in the game folder not the game150 folder
