Custom Firmware 3.02 OE-A released by Dark_AleX! |

If the great news with regards to 2.80 kernel dumping wasn't enough for those who were on lower firmwares, Dark_AleX's latest release of 3.02 OE-A will definitely make your day! Don't worry, while the name makes it sound like a totally different hack, it is in essence, just like the earlier SE firmwares. What you get with the latest version is amazing to say the least.
Here's the full list of new features in 3.02 OE-A:
- 3.02 Custom Firmware - 3.02 firmware environment with 1.50 homebrew capability.
- Can run homebrew using 3.02 kernel
- UMD Video region free
- PSP kernel region selector
- O/X button selector
- WMA enabling option
- Flash player enabling option
- Pops (SCE PSONE emulator) - DRM protection hacked (Which means that you can now your game on more than one psp, and share them over the internet)
Generating the DATA.DXAR:
- Copy oeupdmaker and oeupdmaker% to /PSP/GAME/ if you are using 1.50 firmware and to X:/PSP/GAME150 if you are using whatever version of 2.71 Se.
- Get the 1.50 and 3.02 Update eboots in the oeupdmaker folder with the names "150.PBP" and "302.PBP".
- Run oeupdmaker. This program will create a file called DATA.DXAR in the same directory (oeupdmaker).
- The program will verify that the SHA-1 of the generated file is correct.
- Once that you have done this, you can save the DATA.DXAR file to skip this step in the future.
- Copy the directories oeflasher and oeflasher% to /PSP/GAME (or /PSP/GAME150 if you are on 2.71 SE)
- Copy the generated DATA.DXAR from oeupdmaker to oeflasher directory.
- Run the flasher. If your battery is less than 75%, the program will show the error saying so and will return you to the XMB. This check can be by passed at your own risk by executing the program with triangle and L pressed.
- The program will continue showing an agreement. Press X to accept and flash the custom firmware, or R to cancel and exit to the XMB.
- If you accept, the program will flash the custom firmware. Don't shutdown the PSP and don't remove the memory stick.
- Once finished, shutdown the psp and restart manually to 3.02 OE :)
Again, the latest release is nothing more than revolutionary, the key features being 3.02 VSH and the PSONE emulation hacks. Unfortunately, this release is not aimed at TA-082 users, so all the TA-082ers will have to keep wishing and praying for some magic. For the rest who're on their 2.71 SE firmwares, this represents the next golden firmware...Enjoy!
(A last minute note - occasionally this program will result in a blue screen error, but this is not harmful. Just restart and try again.)

I just downgraded by psp and i am new to the homebrew thing and i would like to know what do i need to play ps1 games on my psp and i know i probably need this custom firmware.
QJ needs to post the new file that was upload by D_A, this one doesnt include the MD5 and SHA1, if they arent included, many may end up with bricked PSP's, either the two should be posted or has to be added to the file, thnxs.

Yes, you have to flash your PSP to install this, but don't be a sissy...If your battery is over 75% you should be fine.

Since I don't have a PS3 (for PS1 games), the only reason for me to update to this would be so I can play higher firmware games without devhook. I really wanted the mp3 visualizer, but that's not listed as a feature. Since 2.71 SE's flash is already nearly full, and I like my custom gameboots/font/background, I don't have much of a reason to upgrade to this, which will have even more limited flash memory. I knew DAX wouldn't leave the scene forever... making psp homebrew is what he does best! I'm glad he's finally back. I hope in future OE releases, something is done about the low flash space like having features like RSS and LocationFree disabled and make it so we can have files on our memory sticks and load those features from our memory sticks if we want the features anyway.

Whats with the cracked PS1 games? Running ISOs at least has some legitimacy, as people can dump their legally owned games onto their Memory Stick and play them, thus meaning only the people who have no morals pirate the games. But cracking the DRM protection is doing nothing more than letting people pirate the PS1 games....I am disappointed with this...but the rest is a great accomplishment!

More good news for the old PSP users (soon to be minorities since the TA-08*'s are taking over soon if not already) If they keep updating old hardware we (TA-08*'s) will loose interest on the PSP + the death to the PSP homebrew community.

Hey, ive bin doing homebrew stuff for ages! but have never used on of these custom firmwares before. If i install this does tis mean i can go back down to 1.5 firmware if i want, and isnt this just the same as 3.02 on devhook just thats its the default firmware when u start up? if so why is this so good? any help or replys is greatly appreciated.

Ok I'm not a noob or anything i just need some n()()b info about cust fws, i have been running devicehook 0.5.1.100 + 3.0.2 and most new games don't work all old games work fine. 1. i have had flash my psp with the old 0.5.0 DeviceHook to emulate 2.8.2 with the X-flash "option 11" so do i need to unflash before trying this? if so how from devhook or..? 2. when i do this how do i / can i go back to old 1.5 psp and never run cust fw? 3. how dose the Recovery mode work and what are the access buttons , also how to you access it if you brick your psp after using this 4. ISO / CS/ DAX: how do you load them on a cust fw do you just place all the CS& ISO's in PSP/GAME/ folder and run psp and select them? please help me out with this due to me not trusting CUST Fws i have always been a 1.5 +devhook user
Nice work Dark_Alex. I just found out about this custom firmware thing. I'm currently on 1.5 and using the latest DH for 3.02, but I'm just wondering, is having the 3.02 custom firmware better than doing it off Devhook? Any major advantages? Also would it be possible to downgrade back to 1.5 from the custom firmware? Because I just feel like 1.5 is the default and everything can run on it, I just don't wanna get stuck on an updated firmware.

The Location Free Player no longer works. It still in the XMB but it doesn't work. The "Read Me" says he took it out to save space in the flash0. It was getting too full. The Korean language is also gone.

The way you play them is that, they are re-routed to the game section in the PSP, so u dont need another launcher, just launch them from GAME, even if there in the ISO folder ( a little hidden feature from dark_alex :)

its is good b/c you can load isos from game menu, and have a combination of 1.5, 3.2 features. you can downgrade back to 1.5 after installing recovery folder and holder R BUTTON when restarting

Work's for me, I've only tried my backup of DBZ SB, and it worked, i guess some games do and don't work now.
to go back to 1.5 you have to install recovery folder and whenever your psp is "bricked" you just holder the R button and it reflashes 1.5.

After I manually restarted the system, it was still on 2.71 SE. When i when to system settings it gave me an error and gave me a BSOD. After that, the psp restarted and after reseting all the settings, it worked perfectly.

the download for this custom firmwre has a flasher for recovery so u can flash it to 1.5 again. put the flasher dealie in ur game folder with the 1.5 eboot in the same folder (i think u rename it from "eboot.pbp" to "update.pbp"), reboot into the recovery menu and "run program at /psp/game/recovery.eboot.pbp". should bump u back to 1.5 land and alls well from there. ***** happens, just try it again. ive had bad custom firmware installs but u can always repair or undo anything u flash from that recovery menu so dont panic.
I *****ing love this guy. He continues to make his awesome releases even on the brink of trouble (the fake Dark_Alex scandal), and does the supposedly impossible. Dark_Alex for the win!!!!
apparently you have to have bought the ps1 game from the ps3 store to get some kind of key file to allow the game to be played......

everything works, not buggy at all. only prob is u cant goto system settings/web browser or itl crash, which sucks for now, but this is better than the last attempt at a 3.x custom firmware, much more stable
it doesnt work 4 me it breaks 1.50 homebrew compatibilty (i get the gameboot screen, then it turns off) and i ALWAYS get a BSoD when i go to settings
just try it. devhook is all fine and dandy but why would you want to load an app to then load the iso u want when u can run em all from the xmb? ur weiner wont fall off if u try it, 2.71 se-c is a bit more stable in the sense that pretty much everything works fine, only flaw w/this release is no web browser and it crashes when u enter "system settings". probly will be fixed very soon tho. 1.5 is great, but these custom firmwares are worth it, as long as dark_alex is behind emm +o)

Since updating, gpsp has not been working well. It works at times but most of the time it doesn't. Anyone else?
Read every post BEFORE the one you just posted. It has been posted several times. --Boot up the psp, while holding R. Or read the readme.txt included with the download.
I hate you guys, this is the reason why Sony keeps on releasing more security updates, is so strict with blocking you guys out and doesn't release many new features because of BS like this: Pops (SCE PSONE emulator) - DRM protection hacked (Which means that you can now your game on more than one psp, and share them over the internet). Sharing games over the internet with hacked DRM protection, I hope Sony sues dark alex and puts an end to all of this.

Can someone explain "recovery mode" to me. I have firmware 1.5 and would go to this 3.02-OE for the ease of use and people make it sound like you can hold R at start up and it will downgrade you to 1.5. Am I correct?

Using recovery menu ------------------- - To enter in recovery menu, press R when power on the psp. The recovery mode lets to set options, and it lets to recover potential bricks, as soon as the 1.50 bootstrap is intact.

CAN ANYONE HELP...I RAN OEUPDMAKER, I INCLUDED THE 1.5 AND 3.02 UPDATE EBOOTS IN THE OEUPDMAKER FOLDER..RAN THE PROGRAM, AND I GET THE MESSAGE "CANT OPEN 150.PBP..." its way worth it. its super sexy. and yes. you can play isos straight from the xmb. all the isos you put in the ISO folder show up under your game folder on the menu.
Thanks Dark Alex for this, however cracking the ps1 games for piracy is not my choice of being a consumer of any kind. Look guys, Sony wants to make money, of course, we can all understand this, but why are we stooping so low on getting free games? Sony made these PS1 games available for your PSP. Isn't it respectful to at least give them of what they actually deserve? If this illegitamacy continues, everyone will not remember the names of coders of the people who gave hope on making the PS1 emulator, resulting that their work has been in vain. Also everyone will be filled with hypocrisy, saying Sony sucks, and don't even say thanks to the games and the emulator they made available on you handheld? This isn't the homebrew community that I once seen as coders to unite and make their own applications for other people, but now I see this community as another step of piracy.
I just upgrade my psp from 2.71 CFW SEC to 3.02, everything's fine. More game now can be played without UMD. Bravo DA!!!

Can I install thing on a PSP that has 3.1 on it? It's also a old PSP so it doesn't have the new protection.
I got it to install and get to the VSH, but it wouldn't run any games... homebrew, locoroco demos, or UMDs. Got the BSoD on settings a few times 'till I popped the MS out and then it finally let me fix my flash1. I used the recovery console to retreat to 2.71 SE-C. As far as I could tell, everything worked but the games... maybe I did something wrong. I'll try again later, or maybe wait for OE-B.

This has about the same chance of bricking your PSP as a piece of Kraft Cheese. Upgrade, man! If you get a "partial brick" at any point, theres always a recovery console, which you can use to enable USB and/or downgrade back to 1.5! Id like to see any (non custom) 1.5 users claim that ability.

for the last time, you can go into settings or web browser, and it'll give you the error screen. Then, adjust the settings to their proper placements, and confirm...it'll never happen again. Stop giving the firmware a bad rep because you're a water-headed retard.
Install Method is exactly the same as SE-C. Only difference is Location Free feature has been removed due to limitation of the Flash memory size. Also 3.0X firmware also moves the folders MOVIE, MUSIC, and PHOTO out of the PSP folder to the root folder. Also PHOTO has been renamed to PICTURE.
if anyone is in 1.5 or 2.71 SE upgrade asap because this has everything u need it in devhook but 100% Stable. i ran smackdown vs raw UK and it frezze only in the videos but when i quit a game guess what it dont crash, i test family guy iso and it ran so smooth and no problem. going to test more games. gta vcs work on umd now. gba emu works on 3.02 ^_^ this is a xmas gift from Dark Alex. PS this can run any iso to date now and all the things u want in 3.02.

All you need to do is goto the web browser on your psp and it will dl the game to your system, and then you can save it on a computer. Or just find the url for the playstation store and goto it on the computer, and just save the ps1 games on your computer.

I think this just bricked my PSP. I id everything as instructed, everything went fine. When it told me to "Restart the PSP manually" I did, and now it wont start. The screen lights up, but then crashes. I held L to see if there was some sort of recovery, no dice.. Can anyone help me?

i have 2 hrs with this and i have to say dont even think using devhook v51 for your games anymore because this is 5x better then devhook will ever be. stable and psp ram and memory stick friendly. i have a while testing this and i got to say, it so stable, u can run anything on this and it wont crash. as for devhook, no problem u wont even miss it. the 3.02 SE-A is the new devhook with 100% Stable and u can enjoy your HB programs. its very easy to play iso or ciso on 3.02 SE-A. put your iso in the iso folder. to play, to run the ciso or iso, go to games and u going to see your game iso video thing, easy no.

seems that xautoboot prx plugin won't work anymore. Enabling it frm the recovery menu only causes psp the hang without loading even the xmb :) In fact I think a lot of the plugins do not work with this version of custom firmware... But great stuff though :)
Can I use both methods: 1. Load ISO/CSO directly from game -menu. 2. Open Devhook and load ISO/CSO from there. Are both of them working?

I have some problems i've installed it about 3 times but i get the same problem a restore my definitios before installing, then i install it and when i enter the menu MUSIC it crash, going to menu System Settings and puff BSOD and if i press O don't quit, when trying to play a ISO psp crash on splash screen and shut down.
you just need one dummy folder in root:\psp\game\ have hide corrupted icons off have no umd on put the iso in root:\iso\ when in memstick you should see two icons one corrupted and your iso

Make sure you get the official updates off www.psp-hacks.com and name them both 302 and the other 150. then place in the 'oeupdmaker' then just run it it took me 10 minutes to complete it but just leave it going then flash

it's menu you can open before the actual firmware starts, so if you brick you can just go to the recovery menu and well.. recover (flash back to 1.50)

I'm not sure if this is happening to everyone, but i had 2.71 SE-C with with the MP3 plugin anabled, i downgraded to 1.50 and then upgraded to 3.02 OE-A... for some reason i noticed that my games or homebrew were not working, and then i check the list of plugins and notice that even though i had anabled them in 3.02, they were enabled from before, once i disabled them, everything started working again. Anyways, GREAT WORK Dark_Alex, this OE-A is a masterpiece. Thx and Happy Holidays

guys...it seems the OE has more ISO compatibility issue than SE-C. Some game work with No-UMD in SE-C but crash in OE like GTA-VCS. Some ISO can't be loaded in plain modules in UMS/ISO. It seems if enable isofs driver in UMD-inserted mode also has some issue in certain ISO. Hope those bugs will be fixed in the upcoming OE-B.

Sorry kid, you'll have to wait until when(/if) they crack the 3.00, as I wrote to another guy just a few posts up, the installer is a homebrew and thus will only work on homebrew compatible PSP (except 2.80)
Well, as it has 1.50 homebrew support you could always install SE-C which I know for a fact can downgrade to 1.50, but I'm quite sure you can do the same from OE-A
Recovery mode doesn't work, I installed the customizer for this mod (stupid i know ), and now all i get is the XMB with out the Icons or Writing. it hangs then it shuts down. any one got any useful ideas on how to solve this problem

make sure the update EBOOT.PBP is 150.pbp + 302.pbp. Not 1.50.pbp or 3.02.pbp. There shouldn't be any dot in between the numbers. If u put the dot, u'll get error message "Cant open 150.pbp"

No you can't... yet, I hope there will be a crack in 3.xx soon too though (Sony doesn't want us to run homebrews and therefore makes it as hard as possible, but there are always ways around it).

No, 3.xx can't run any homebrew (unless you count flash and HTML), and the OE installer is a homebrew, therefore it won't work. You'll just have to wish for a crack in 3.xx

some game not playable in OE. I tried Colin Mcrae Rally 2005 iso n it can't load but with dh0.51 emulating to 3.02 fw, it works. so i guess i'll still keep the dh till OE become more stable.
The Playstation store is the ONLY place that you can download PSone games that will work for the PSP. And the Playstation Store is only accessible by the PS3.

you mean YOUR psp doesn't connect to the internet...my psp with fw 3.02 OE-A does connect. Just enabled the Flash-player and WMA playback.

allright you lucky people from Japan and USA, all us unlucky Europeans like to test the psx emulator, but as you know Sony doesn't like us so we have to wait for at least 4 to 6 months before we can buy a PS3. Somebody can post a test-game for the emulator on a torrent site? (just to push Sony to introduce the PS3 a little bit faster here.....) I really want to pay to Sony for the games but as I don't own a PS3 I can't. I know it is not legal, but I really want to test it to see if it works the way I want it.

you are either full of s.hit or have a botched install since all my isos work with no-UMD enabled, hide corrupt, skip SCE, you name it, GAME folder 1.50 kernel..... everything works
I used a 2'71 Plugin to change speed to 333, but I suppose that I can't do the same in 3.02. There is any homebrew to overclock the speed without touching the flash?
Worked for me, but I ran into something strange... I'm not sure this is related, but after updating, my computer sometimes reboots when I connect my PSP via USB. After crashing my computer, it must have corrupted some system files because trying to browse through my hard drives via Windows Explorer was super slow and would crash on me. I ran a repair installation of Windows and it seems to be working better now. The repair install got rid of my IE7 install, though, so I'm back on IE6 now. I wasn't terribly impressed with IE7 anyway. Seemed to be very slow compared to IE6 and was hogging more system resources. My in-laws could barely even run it on their older system. Anywho.... Yeah. Take it FWIW.

Installed last night...tested Socom FTB2, GTA: VCS, Family Guy, Nascar 07, Sonic Rivals and Mind Quiz and all work. I always keep GTA: LCS in the UMD so I never worry about that. With my SE-B' and devhook emulating 3.02, I always had the BSOD when entering the emulated 3.02...I stuck with it to have the features, but once I saw this I was LIKE WOO HOO!!! I still consider myself a noob, because D_A always makes everything so damn easy to understand. Easy upgrade and I love OE-A!!!! Thanks D_A!!! Does he have anywhere to donate to his work? Yes you CAN downgrade back after upgradeing, but dont just use the official update, use DA's OE-A 3.02. THEN you can downgrade using the recovery menu if you so choose. Ive already done it once.

My Vice City Stories ISO does not run directly on this firmware... It runs through DevHook perfectly but not by running directly... I have disabled all my PRXs... Has anyone else got this problem...?
I have had 3.02 OE-A for over 12 hours and it has never crashed on me once including the infamous system settings or browser sometimes crashing. I think it is because alot of people are getting the 3.02 Eboot file from QJ.net and that file is a Japanese Eboot 3.02. I have used the Eboot from http://www.psp-hacks.com/download.php?id=937 which is actually the US 3.02 firmware and have had no crashes and all of the ISO's/CSO's work with no problem. Also I have tried NesterJ as well and that runs perfectly too. The only thing I got to do is try out a higher demanding game like "Blitz" and try that out to see if it loads and that would be everything. BY far a very good update since we now can also play PSone games from the PS3 or from download. Whoever is sitting on the bench don't think twice and upgrade now!!

At this present time there is no way to downgrade down to 1.50 or 2.71 if you have a firmware over 2.71. So I guess everyone will have to wait for a downgrader later.

Can you downgrade from 3.02 OE-A to regular 1.5? This is the only thing stopping me from doing this.
The recovery menu is a part of the custom firmware, and it installs that before installing the firmware, so even if you brick when installing, the recovery menu will work and let you return to 1.5

The stupid thing says cannot open 1.50 file, what the hell i have gotten all the right files. It worked the first time but the dax file was 0kb and when i started the oeflasher it said cannot read dax or is not there? I am running 2.71 se-a and i am getting pissed

custom firmwares are not counted as 2.71+ in "U Know"'s post above... the recovery menu which is included in the custom firmwares is pretty much all about recovering to 1.50
You might have written a dot between 1 and 5, an easy mistake, the correct names are "150.PBP" and "302.PBP", you can copy-paste that to be fail-free

I assume that patch is something on the flash? in that case it will automatically be removed when you install OE (the installer formats the flash before installing the new stuff)
To "not logged in" the question was can someone with an *official* Sony firmware that is higher than firmware 2.71 downgrade down to 2.71 or 1.5 the answer is no. Unless you can prove me wrong and give me a link to a downgrader for say firmware 3.0?? It's not possible right now at all. Of course you can downgrade if you 2.71-SE* or 3.02 OE-A down to 1.50 it is possible via the recovery menu.

Hey Nikhil... Yes you can run homebrew on your 2.80 PSP, but not all of it works. You'll need eLoader 995 which can be found on this site. Also a good tool to have is PatchSFO which patches EBOOTs for 1.0 and 1.5 PSPs to work on 2.80 firmware, but they don't always work.

what an incredible peice of work this is. scrap the 1.5 golden firmware bull***** this is the PLATINUM firmware all DA has to do now is tweak tweak and tweak some more. developers need to make there homebrew/apps/prx all compatible with this 3.02 OE as i doubt sony are planning anymore groundbreaking firmware updates soon. 3.02 this is the ground breaking firmware. you can assure this will be the main prefrence of psp homebrew users for at least 8 months. does this firmwares ps1 emulator let you play iso that you create yourself from real ps1 games (or downloaded isos) or do you HAVE to get them off a ps3 for them to work?

I tried to install this on my psp, but i seem to have bricked it!! The battery wasn’t charged enough, and i was too impatient to wait for it to charge, so i overrided the 75% battery check. Although i was using the mains adapter. The update went ok, said it was sucessful, but my psp doesn’t boot now. When i switch it on, the green led comes on, the backlight lights althoug nothing is shown on screen. The MS access flashes for about a second and then nothing. I have to do a hard reset or remove the battery to switch off. I have tried to use the RECOVERY, but still nothing on the display - i did notice though the MS access’s more with R held down whilst powering on. - should there be anything on the MS to boot into? I’ve also tried holding HOME-SELECT-START with the WI-FI on, but that just seems to switch off the psp (sometimes). Is there anything i can do to un-brick my psp, i’m hoping it’s not fully bricked. I 'had' 2.80 until I (i would like to mention now that I wass a dumbass and still am) took apart my psp and broke the backlight and screen connection to the motherboard. this thing is great but some game saves dont work on 3.02 oe-a so u will have to downgrade to 1.5 then upgrade to what eva u were on to use that game save like what i had to do then finnish that game then upgrade to 3.02 oe-a only some games dont work also i got my 3.02 oe-a from torrents and all i had to do was copy 2 folders into game150 and that was it no making pxrar or wat eva
WARNING: this can BRICK your psp even if you follow instructions. i had a firmware 1.5 psp that i downgraded from a 2.7 se after some of my homebrew wasn’t working. i installed 302_BASIC_Installer_150 onto my psp. after launching the program off of my game folder, it finished flashing my psp and said MANUALLY RESTART YOUR PSP. I did this and next thing you know i have a bricked psp. bye psp and bye homebrew scene. thanks for wrecking my christmas Chaos Zero.

Ok everyone... You CANNOT use this custom firmware if you already are running SONY firmware that's higher than 2.80. I believe it has to be either 1.5 or Dark_AleX's 2.71 custom FW, but don't quote me on that, as my PSP is a TA-82 so I cannot try this. One question I have is... Why the crap won't alot of stuff work on TA-82 motherboards? If actual SONY Firmware will work regardless of motherboard model then what effect does it have on a "custom" firmware??? What actually prevents things that work on non 82's from working on 82's?

Someone put what Che361 said in all of the faqs or the readme or something because the same thing was happening to me: Problem I'm not sure if this is happening to everyone, but i had 2.71 SE-C with with the MP3 plugin anabled, i downgraded to 1.50 and then upgraded to 3.02 OE-A... for some reason i noticed that my games or homebrew were not working, and then i check the list of plugins and notice that even though i had anabled them in 3.02, they were enabled from before, once i disabled them, everything started working again. Anyways, GREAT WORK Dark_Alex, this OE-A is a masterpiece. Thx and Happy Holidays Thanks man helped me get it working!!!!!!!!

supp everyone, i install the latest firmware 3.02 OE-A....but it cant play Need For Speed Most Wanted(ISO). It goes well when i start the game it shows the loading but it gets stuck at after like 3.sec and never shows the menus in the game. This game worked perfectly in 2.71 se-c but doesn't works in 3.02 oe-a.
If a dg does come for the 2.80 firmware, will you be able to get the helper files to directly downgrade a none- ta-079 2.80 PSP to 3.02 OE-A

All I know about this is custom firmware needs a "1.50 bootstrap" to run. No TA-082's have this, but DAX said he hopes we can one day get custom firmware running without a 1.50 bootstrap needed. I read all that directly from some interview w/ DAX.
That depends if you have a TA-082 motherboard. You can find out if you have a TA-082... just google something like "do I have a TA-082 psp" and you will find a page that will let you find out if you do. If you DON'T have a TA-082, you're in luck because a 2.80 downgrader has just been released. You can downgrade to 1.50 and install this from there... as long as you dont have a TA-082!

The 3.02 OE upgrade simply won't launch, since there is no known method to launch homebrew on a 3.02 PSP.

since all firmwares can be decrypted why couldn't DA just reencyrpt this and compile it into an actual Update that was an eboot like sony? that way anyone under 3.02 could "update" to 3.02 OE-A and be able to run homebrew

why everything is so unclearly described for Dark Alex's custom firmware??? I've tired to read anything about 2.71CE(A,B,C...) and this but still DO NOT know if this is working for official 2.71 firmware, can any one help, plz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
was a little unoptimistic at first but after trying it its cool some plugins dont work and some games homers rin 1.0 pbp and others have to stay in the game folder set to 1.5. whatever but it works in fact it has better compatibility with some games that didnt work for me so cool. cant wait for a psx game now. thanks dark alex dont leave us in suspence now
please help! I have reinstalled this so many times but it wont load any homebrew or game from the game menu, I've tried both kernels en nothing worked. still have to do it with 2.71 se-c :(
If you bricked your psp with this like me and had cusom firmware such ad 2.71 se-a or b or c follow this to un brick hold R to go to recovery mode. download a fresh copy of se-c's installer from http://dax.lan.st extract it to ur psp, and follow the instructions...get the 1.50 and 2.71 update eboot.pbp's at psp-hacks.com...then delete the 2 folders with the % in them. turn on PSP freshly, while holding R, and go to recovery mode. if you dont have a memory stick reader, hit the option that says "Toggle USB" at the top. Rename the folder /PSP/GAME/seupdmaker to /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/ turn off psp....turn on psp while holding R..... when recovery screen comes up, hit option that says "run file in /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/EBOOT.PBP" itll run the setup that will create the DATA.DXAR move that to the "flasher" folder rename /GAME/RECOVERY/ back to /GAME/setupdmaker/, and then rename the /PSP/GAME/271seflasher folder to /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/ turn off psp...turn on psp while holding R.... again, run the eboot at /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/EBOOT.PBP that is a fresh 2.71 SE-C installer. if you bricked it with this program it will instal se- c and restor everything

in one of the faqs i read on how to install it, it listed all the firmwares that will allow for a successful installation of 3.02 OE-A, but it doesn't list 2.70. I have 2.70 according to my system info. Anyways, I'm new to all this and I was wondering if my 2.70 PSP can upgrade?

Now i can finnally play that copy of Daxter i bought 4 months ago w/o thinking of fw upgrades. Only thing thatd make me happier is if i can find a good site with PS1 isos. Hi there, i downgraded from 2.6 to 1.5 few months ago. I've read that this way of downgrading is not 'clear' as it leaves some useless files in the flash memory. Would this be a problem for installing 3.02 OE-A? Or should i upgrade to official 2.71 and downgrade back to 1.5 for then installing 3.02 OE-A? Did anyone try the following: 2.6->1.5->3.02 OE-A? Try taking your memory stick out of your psp, you may have had a plugin running. That gives you the same affect. Hope that helps cbrom

I have tried to get NesterJ running with the new custom FW but it shows a corrupted icon. How do I fix it and get it running?? DGEN and SNES work great but I want my NesterJ. I've tried different things like renaming the files to get rid of the corrupted icons but still nothing.

I have Dark_Alex's new 3.02-OE-A Firmware and I can't figure out how to run this ISO on it. Considering I had no experience prior to this and wouldn't know how to do it in 1.50 either, this is not surprising. However, my problem is, he says that you can just put the ISO in the game folder and run it. I try to, and it tells me there are no games on the memory stick when I try to access it from the Game menu on the PSP...Any help?
i an new to the psp i just bought it 3 days a go 1.5v. i installed the OE-A and didn't crash that is good but i couldn't play any games which i downloaded from the internet which are .iso, .cso and tryed to update OE-B by putting the file EBOOT.PBP in the x:\psp\game but it didn't show the file on the consule. Hi all, I'm now on 3.02 OE-B, and and I don't seem to be having any luck playing region 1 (US) UMD movies, even with the recovery console set to Region-free (Enabled). Region 2/4 seem to work fine. Only have one US movie to test with though, Ghost in the Shell. Anyone else get this?
Downgraded my friend's psp from 2.71 to 1.50, no problem Used oeupdmaker to make the DATA.DXAR file, took a while but no problem Plugged in the AC adaptor and went to update from 1.50 to 3.02 oe-a with 302oeflasher, and it gave me a bunch of "PANIC: could not create ***" errors. It then said something similar to "Now flashing, 0% done" but the access light for the memory stick didn't show it was being accessed. After 10 minutes of it not going any higher than 0%, I had to shut it down and after that his psp was bricked (no display and the power light comes on for 15 seconds then blinks off). Can anyone tell me why this happened? Is it because after i downgraded it to 1.50 I didn't reformat the memory stick before putting the 3.02 oe-a files on it? I followed the steps in the readmes exactly. Is there any way to fix this?
Is there supposed to be 2 eboots in the oeupdamker folder cos i only have 1 :S and when i run it and go a
" Get the 1.50 and 3.02 Update eboots in the oeupdmaker folder with the names "150.PBP" and "302.PBP". " From the first step in making the DATA.DXAR There is nothing in that folder, or am i suppose to put someting in that folder?

My DATA.DXAR MD5 is 5bd5de55204bb8a407c0187c3da1040c and my SHA1 is bb43b06852826f446cca933927c3d54c50e151b1 -- The DXAR creater program hash checks the 1.50 eboot, the 3.02 eboot, and then checks the DATA.DXAR file as well... As if this wasn't enough, the flasher also runs hash checks on the DATA.DXAR file before writing to flash. It's pretty safe - Although, I would like to see the hash data in the readme.txt next time around...
I have had trouble generating the DATA.DXAR file it appears to take forever when Its doing the 3.02 bit. Tried using the US and JP EBOOTs. Anyhow, I found an easy installer with the DATA.DXAR file included. How can I check if this is OK? whats the correct checksum for it?

Make sure that all plugins are disabled. I had the same problem, but still had plugins enabled from the 271SE days. Disabling them then allowed the registry settings to be reset properly, and then you dont have the BSOD anymore :)

Successfully installed 3.02 OE-A on my 1.50 TA-082 PSP. That was fast and went exactly as written in the instructions. Loading ISO's off the memory stick without a UMD inserted seems to work with the No-UMD mode enabled (the only game I tried to load succeeded). Thanks a lot Dark_AleX!
So ive been trying to figure this out from scratch with no clue what I'm doing. This is how far ive got. You need to have.... System Software Version 1.5 Or System Software Version 2.71 SE (SE is a custom FW) From what I understand your better off downgrading to 1.5 than installing 2.71 SE Once I figure out how to downgrade from the playstation relised 2.71 to 1.5 I will post and after that I will install Custom Firmware 3.02 OE-A. Hopefully I dont brick, wish me luck.

alright i was totally pissed my ta-082 3.02oe-a psp wasn't running homebrew, i was getting the same error as you, use recovery mode (found in the download for 302oe-a) and set configuration->to game folder homebrew to 1.5 kernel! i also used no umd (currently : enabled) hiope that works
a friend i know followed the tutorial and was up to Step 6 in Flashing DATA.DXAR, he shutdown and restart manually, but it was only a black screen, is there a fix to this?? and why that happens?

Same problem here. When I restart my PSP I just go back to the upgrade screen. This isn't a brick is it?
Up a few comments I said I couldn't restart my PSP. I found the problem and hopefully this fixes you too Alex. Apparently there are two ways to restart. Flipping the switch on and off didn't suffice, instead I had to hold it up until it turned off, release, and repeat the same action to turn it on.
i heard that by holding R1 while turning on your psp allows it to go into Recover screen, then recover to 1.5, then flash again to OE-A, imma tell my friend to try it

figuring out how to do this crap was a nightmare, I suggest finding some one that knows how to do this pay them to do it and save your self the mental anguish. PS dont ask me how to do it I never want to downgrade another psp again

I get some problems extracting the DXAR file : the extractor stop before the end. The flash install doesn't start, saying my DXAR is corrupted.

If you have a firmware higher than 2.80, OR you have a TA-082 motherboard (look behind your UMD door), you CANNOT downgrade to run homebrew (yet), and thus CANNOT install this firmware. So please stop asking. That said, kudos to DA for his excellent work. I'm going to weep openly as soon as I can get SotN working on this thing...

what I didnt find mentioned anywhere, is that... after the initial 3.02 oe upgrade you'll definitally want to use the "restore default settings" options from system settings menu, (before that was done, the network settings didn't work, and psx games didnt work either... after I did that reset everything worked sweet!) P.S. THANX to everyone who has contributed to make the psp a better system!

hi ive tried using the auto installer for this and it seemed to run through fine then said restart the PSP, which i did and now keep getting the blue screen saying 'setting information is corrupt press the O button to repair and restore default settings' tried restarting a few times and same thing each time. hi all, I am new to this. So what I did. Had a ta-82 mofo, followed all guides. Succesfully got inot 1.5 firmware, then did 3.02 OE-A and finally updated to 3.02 OE-B succesfully. System Information states 3.02 OE-B. However, a simple thing such as enabling WMA can't do it. I keep pressing R button on power up and I never see any options that poeple claim to have. So I am not getting into recovery mode. I followed a guide that said to REFORMAT the flash card. So I DID REFORMAT THE FLASH DRIVE. I guess it wiped out everything in there. Now was I supposed to keep any important stuff on the mem card? I am on 3.02 OE-B... WHY I CAN'T GET INTO RECOVERY MODE!!?? :-'(

Ok I got it working but it doesn't actually run. It launches but stays on black screen.
Sorry for the triple post... But I just found out it only gets stuck on a black screen if there is a UMD in the drive. If I remove the UMD and try to run my Need for Speed Underground Rivals ISO, I get an "error game could not be started" crap thing... I thought 3.02 OE-A was supposed to run ISO's so why isn't it?
I was able to connect to the internet on PSP with Dark Alex's formware OE-B but after trying to enable flash plater and WMA I now get a DNS error. Can anyone help me please, please, please.
Help Please. I sucessfully installed Firmware OE-B and it appeared to be working, including the internet browser. However, after enabling the WMA and flash player I now get a DNS error in the internet browser. Can anyone please help. Thanks

sorry i m new here and i have been spending the whole nite wondered how do i get t the 1.50 and 3.02 Update eboots in the oeupdmaker folder with the names "150.PBP" and "302.PBP" after the 1st step??!!! When i open the folder its has only one PBP file :(
i have recently installed 3.02 OEB and now my devhook 0.42 with 2.50 emulation (to cheat in lcs) doesn't work anymore... i've tried the lcs cheat prx but in doesn't include some cheats please help me
will DA's 1.5 downgrader & 3.03OE work with Jap WHITE psps? I want to make sure it will work with a WHITE japan psp, is there anything special for the white ones or does it work the same? thankS!!!!

This step I'm a little confused about: - Get the 1.50 and 3.02 sony updaters in the oeupdmaker folder with the names "150.PBP" and "302.PBP". Do I do this in the PSP itself? Because when I look in the files via the memory stick on the computer it doesn't list any 150 and 302PBPs.
Ok silly me, I did this in the psp and there are two files one that says Corrupted Data and the other being the 3.02OE-A Update Maker, what do I do next ?

i was updating 1.50 to 3.02eo-a when it was doing so my psp turned off on its own. My battery level was at 89% with power cord on.Now i read the txt on how it says do not turn off your psp and when it happened it was in the process of extracting. i feel kinda of stuck here cause the only thing i can only get to now is the recovery screen but i dont even know how that works.. I need help here..
I am a real noob at this, i tried to get into homebrew etc ages ago after buying discs on ebay (the eboots were trojan horse viruses LOL). Atm i tink im on 2.6 version and i want 3.02 OEA, i tried generating the data file but when i put the 1.50 and 3.02 eboots on there it says they are corrupted (had to search for them on google lol), now i run the oeupmaker and the screen goes black, i think the eboots i got are wrong, can someone tell me where i can get them please? Sorry for being a noob...

Hi there I really need help on this 1 I am currently running PSP ver3.03 and i have downloaded all that i need for Ver 3.02 OE-A But when I Do what the readme says On the stop where u haft to Transfer the oeupdmaker and oeupdmaker% Files with the re-Named Firmware, When i Use the Psp Under game it reads Corrupt Data and 3.02OE-A Update maker, When i go into update maker it plays the psp logo then says "The game could not be started (8002014C)" What do i do??? Can i run the 3.02 oe.. on my TA-82.. I was able to downgrade to version 1.50 with the Genius Dark-Alex downgrader..
how do you get the ps one games to work when i put the eboot and key in the game folder just says carnt be started

I had a PSP with 1.50 firmware, and about a month ago I upgraded to 3.01 firmware from the official Sony site. Am I totally screwed now ? - From what I understand, you CANNOT even think of running this new custom firmware on a PSP if it doesn't have the original 1.5 firmware on it. Is there any way of getting back down to firmware version 1.5 ? or is this impossible. I am afraid I did upgraded, without even knowing about this firmware, and am rather disappointed now :-( thank you for any infos.
the creatin of the dxar file and the checking is taking so damn long. i've already stopped it once... Ugh!
everytime i try making the dxar, my psp just keeps trying to make it.. it says it unpacks the 3.02.... but it keeps saying it, and it wont create the dxar file..help!:(
