CFW 3.80 M33 to be released tomorrow, has update feature |
Ó
Heads up, Sony PlayStation Portable homebrew fans - more info has just been released about the upcoming Custom Firmware 3.80 M33, direct from Mathieulh himself. No, it's not yet released, but there is a special bit of news that should make you eager for its arrival all the more - and it has something to do with the way it's going to update your PSP.
So, what's the new info? First off, an exact ETA of the firmware itself - that is, tomorrow. Apparently, a lot of people were expecting it to be released today, but due to an unexpected delay of sorts, it didn't happen.
The reason for this - and brace yourself - is that Dark AleX has made it so that this new firmware would update the same exact way that Sony's official firmwares do, via WiFi. That means that it's going be a hassle-free, no-messy-installation-needed update (of course, you have to access Network Update for it), and certainly a very welcome addition to the host of features the custom firmware brings.
It could also mean that from now on, all updates will be cumulative - that is, if you've been out of the loop for quite a while and suddenly upgrade to the latest firmware, you won't have to go through the long, hard slog of upgrading through the previous firmwares you've missed. Convenient, and definitely justifies the 24-hour delay.
More news about this upcoming treat from Dark AleX as it develops.

-The higher the firmware the better chance to play UMD games that requires updates.

Will donate for sure.

dunno if its possible to integrate these in the cfw, but how about:
-standard ogg and flac support
-make/edit/delete m3u playlists
-integrated avi support
-flash7 support
that would make the PSP the unbeatable media player!

Ohh, if some people get confused about this they might accidentally update to 3.80 official from 3.71 M33 in the hopes of getting 3.80 M33 via Network Update... This might get messy!

this is the best news ever! everyone on dark alex's 3.80 m33.
two finger salute to sony! how sweet.
Reply
And btw, even if people DID download a 3.80 OFW upgrade for the 3.71 M33, they still wouldn't be able to upgrade because of the DADADADA error code. So, no sweat there.
In case Mathieulh or Dark_Alex is reading this, I would want the M33-NWU feature to be implemented into the recovery menu also, so I can still flash the VSH rebooter into NWU and yet still be able to use the M33-NWU feature. This way, the XMB NWU would reboot VSH and if I would want to use the M33 NWU feature, I go into recovery instead of having lost the feature because of my VSH Rebooter.

DAX removed that protection once Pandora and Despertsr el cementrio had been released. Now you can easily install official sony firmware over CFW by just runnig the official update eboot.
Dax had put in that protection because he didnt want people to inadvertly brick their psps but now that there is pandora to easily fix bricks, he has now made it possible to upgrade cfw to ofw easily.

The same way thousands of companies have shut down servers hosting keygens and serial numbers: Send threatening letters to the ISP (DA's is Dedibox in France) letting them know that they have the bigger lawyers than the ISP.

So it appears that he is busy setting up mirror sites so as not to crash his main site when he posts the 3.80 officially online. Smart idea, because I can totally see his site going offline.

i thought the NIDs thing meant no or next to no modifications needed for porting plug ins and such
actually not sure if the 1.5 kernel would be covered with this anyway since its not one you put into seplugins folder and enable through recovery. when i put 1.5 on 3.71m33 it actually flashed the files in
even if its not the case, becus25 shouldnt take long to port his 1.5 kernel across
and i would like to take this moment to apologize to becus25 for things that i have said about his coding ability when the IE firmwares were doing the rounds
people can be such idiots sometimes and i was
i'll still say they were not my thing but these 1.50 kernel are great.
so becus25 \ Dark Moon i'm truly sorry for being one of the jerks that hung crap on you
oh
i believe you should go back to becus25 or choose something different
ever since DAX everyone is dark something
Reply
it was 1.50
DAX had to corrupt the IDStorage keys for TA-082 and 86's
however, when the slim come out it was proven that it was impossible to install the 1.50IPL without bricking
so he used custom IPL's meaning the corrupted key no longer needed to be corrupted and so if you install 3.71m33 or this one and your key is corrupt, it will ask you to fix that key (0x43?) before continuing also meaning sony updates now work again.
i cant help thinkin DAX and mathieulh probably knew they could do it without 1.50 kernel for a while but didnt want sony to know until the release of the slim. i mean the slim was hacked on release.
would of been different if the first dual kernel custom firmware (2.71SE) used custom IPL without 1.50 (ok 2.71HEN was still an option for people scared of downgrading) but 1.50 was too versatile not to chuck in there even if he could of done a custom FW without 1.50 kernel.
all this would of meant is through 2.71 in HEN mode, he could of put custom firmwares in TA-082's and TA-086's without corrupting key 0x43 thus meaning the slim would be alot meaner than it is today.

(currently running 1.71 M33-4)
Well, it is now 8:50 MST my time, so it has got to be early in the morning of January 12th in Spain, which I believe is where Dax is from, so it looks like the release today was a bust.

You have to manually install 3.80 M33 when it is released, so you need to have a pandora hacked PSP with Custom Firmware to begin with, then after the 3.80 install, you would not have to manually install any new updates as you would now have the Wifi update ability.
Those that doubt me, be my guest in trying to explain to me how my 3.71 M33 CF can use Wifi to install 3.80!

If you have official firmware v3.60 and access to a pandora battery/magic memory stick you are good to go, but if you have upgraded your PSP with the official firmware above 3.60, then you are screwed. You have to jump through hoops to downgrade and then pandora hack, then upgrade to 3.80 M33 when it is released.
no way around it!
