The M33 team has rolled out another update for their Custom Firmware (CFW) 3.51 M33 which adds quite a few functionalities that users have been asking for. In addition to this, they've also fixed a couple of bugs which prevented users from running some games.Among the improvements include a few updates on the M33 NO-UMD driver, such as a bug fix which now allows games such as ATV Offroad Fury Pro, Steel Horizons, Tony Hawk's Project 8 to run on the firmware, and an improvement on the speed loading time.
Another addition to the firmware is its ability to now autodetect ta-082+ with brightness problems and correct it. Now, you should know that these display issues were found with the 1.50 kernel. Here are a few more of the changes in the CFW:
- Wlan fix is now done differently, patch is done in 3.51 kernel before going to 1.50 one.
- For those that don't read the readme file: we never would include in our files a sony prx! The fix was and is done simply with code. The 3.40 mention was to notice that the problem It was not a M33 bug, but a problem caused by Sony.
- 4th level of brightness enabled on 1.5 kernel too now.
- An option has been added to recovery, "Hard Reset on 1.50 homebrew." Use this, only if the wifi fix doesn't work with your psp still. It makes homebrew boot a bit slower.
And finally, the usual warnings for beginners: This is custom firmware. Beginners are advised to do their research before attempting to install this. You could seriously mess up your PSP if you botch this up.

I am still using DA's stuff as well.
Is the PSX emulation in here improved over the DA firmware? I won't update unless I see a boost in speed or something like that. I heard $ony improved the emulation on the PSP since the last DA firmware release, but don't know if its true. Anyone know for sure?

What makes 3.51 m33-7 better than 3.40 OE-A and dont say coz it emulates 3.51 because 3.51 doesnt contain anything new thats worth updating for.
these guys went through all the trouble reverse engineering dax's work
all becus and stuff have done is add little bits to already done firmwares
dax never completed 3.51 so m33 would of reversed 3.40 OE
technically 3.51 is their baby

m33 is making new CFW like DAX. These are good if you own a ps3 so that you can use remote play(requires FW 3.50) . My friend has a ta082 and this can autodetect that.
I dont like upgrading that much (I am still at 3.03 oe c) but it is always fun to get a new FW.

3.51 has internet remote play which is good for ps3 owners, RSS channel guide which makes it easy to look up feeds and has sony's ISO loader which makes No-UMD mode work much better than OE's.
why you should leave DAX's OEs behind:
1.when games that require 3.51 come out (GoW and Crisis Core perhaps) you SHOULD update to 3.51 M33
2.perfect no-umd mode, extend the life of your umd drives!
3.faster load times
4.excellent pops compatibilities
5.frequent updates, bugfixes and improvements

3.51 M33-7 + 100x better then 3.40OE
It is tragic that DAX left us, and NO ONE will ever take his place, but sadly, we must continue with our lives. It may not be DAX CF, but it is still great CF none the less, so go and update.
Until Parasite Eve 2 works on 3.51M33 I am not updating. It works perfectly on 3.40 OE.
This firmware sucks. It can hardly run any homebrew. Just wait for CFW 3.51 XR.
I also got an idea. Instead of making $hitloads of updates for no-umd and the wifi, which probably still doesn't work 100%. Why are they not making everything fully work and then release just one update. Who the hell wants to keep installing these updates.
This firmware sucks so bad, I wouldn't be surprised if it couldn't even run the updates.
I've installed this firmware 3 times already and it messed up everytime, so back to 3.40 oe-a I go.

No, you keep DAX's FW, because this one sucks, plus by the time GoW comes out, the other CFW's like XR and the one from the anonymous team will be out. Which will probably cause this one to rapidly fade away to the point you can't even find it to download, because it sucks that bad.
Ya I was a bit apprehensive about M33 but I have to say that they have made firmware v3.51 there own. I updated from D_As firmware v3.40 0E a bout 2 days a go. IV tried lots of games with out a UMD and they all play perfect and load a lot faster. Keep up the good work M33. Can%u2019t wait to see what you do with firmware 3.60 when it comes out.

2. sonys loader been patched means really fast load times in games
3. you dont have to update everytime a update comes out you can wait for the a much further 1 that has something you want then update cause they all have the previous updates in them so you dont need to keep updating everytime a new update is out duh learn to read the updated before talking bs

What's the point in leaving DAX's stable firmware for this OBVIOUSLY piece of *****, that they have to make patches for the patches, and then MORE patches because the patches they made before the first set of patches didn't patch the bugs that they said it fixed.

You guys keep saying, "GREAT WORK!" Yeah, it was Great Work when it first came out, not after 7 f'in updates, that's ridiculous. I mean Hot Damn, if no UMD-Support doesn't work by now, then this is going to be another Daedalus with 80 updates.

"It's good that people are continuing DAX's work!" Why yes it is, but when a new patch for the same thing comes out every single day, I know M33 was in a rush to be the FIRST people to come out with a custom firmware so everyone can say "OMG THEY SAVED US" without realizing much better firmware is coming out. And now that M33 rushed they have to come out with patches every single day to fix the mistakes they could have gotten if they would have taken their time.
Finally, WLAN works in homebrew again! I don't know what the problem was, but I'm glad to see it's fixed.
The other thing I notice is that the XMB tends to lag a bit more during normal use... I'm not sure if this is due to Sony's additions, or M33's, but either way it's a bit odd.
Anyway, thanks for finally getting that fixed. It was bugging the hell out of me.
You only need to install M33-7 it comes with every other update all M33 updates come with the previous ones

After some hexing, editing pspbtncf.bin (thanx bstronga), hexing paf.prx, and icons, yes its possible to get glass on this... if you have enough spare time to succeed in all the things previously mentioned
can I customize the xmb like in 3.4 with easy redirection?

if you set the the XMB CPU speed to 333 in recovery mode, it will help a little with the lag in the XMB, but it will eat more battery life when listening to music or watching video

I think you're doing something wrong nick, because I have had no problems loading anything on 3.51m33 since the day it came out. The first release was already DAX quality and now with all of these updates, it has surpassed what DAX would have come out with for a 3.51 OE. OE is dead, and this is the new firmware. It works great, and its only getting better every day, if thats even possible at this point.

I think this is an awesome firmware and I updated to it the first time I heard about it. Now there are numerous updates that I have tried but they won't allow me to play any of my games. I follow the instruction by placing the folder M33_7 in the ms0:PSP/GAME150/ after I use it I go to the system information and it says 3.51 M33-7 but shows no changes and does not allow me to play my games. Is this happening to any one else or is it just me? All I can do now is go back to the original 3.51 M33 and reinstall it. Please help me out! I want to fix my WLAN connection and many other things because of the updates. But, anyways great job M33!
It's not hero worship if what people are asking for is a more stable coding team... These guys are obviously not very organized or structured programmers. If they were they wouldn't have so many updates. This is amateur workmanship. They may have a decent firmware but they started with a good base. They need to step back and figure out what they are aiming for. It's pretty obvious they are just throwing stuff in as they find it. That is a horrible way to do things, and can likely end up with a bricker update somewhere down the road.

Im glad that im not using this M33 firmware yet. Cause if I were, I would have had to flash my PSP 7 times already. Its not worth flashing my psp that may times for a crappy CFW.

The reason that I still use DAX's FW is because this M33 one *****ing sucks!!! There are bugs everywhere, most features except NO-UMD which I never use is total crap! I am only using DAX firmware because there are NO OTHER CHOICES!!!
Ever since I upgraded, my PSP will freeze whenever I try to use the OSK (like to type in my nickname or an internet address). Can someone tell me how to fix that?

Oh yeah, these updates are so not worth it. The m33 team is doing nothing but working on continuing the work that DA did and bringing us a newer firmware for when we need it. Yes they suck for brining out a firmware and then releasing patch after patch to fix the problems as well as improving the CFW. They suck because instead of saying that they bring out the cool hacked Sony ISO loader instead of telling us that they are going to do it and then abandon the scene entirely. You two need to get a f#$king life. If you think it sucks so bad bring out a better firmware. As for the XR firmware why the hell is everyone pimping it like it is going to be the second coming. For all we know it is going to have the same bugs that m33 has encountered. Even the great Dark_Alex had bugs in his firmwares, that is why he release multiple version.
Jim, nick, do us all a favor, update your PSP to the retail version of 3.51 and go away. You obviously do not appreciate the hard work that others are doing so that we can run homebrew on our PSP's.
I'm sure M33's ISO loader will soon be way better than Sony%u2019s version. They will ascend to levels that Sony themselves aren%u2019t aware or could ever imagine.

yeah i installed m33 version 6 or w/e and it like owned my psp, first it bricked it then i went back to 1.5 andi tried again, and again for like another 5 times(so about 6 bricks til i gave up) then i decided to go back to 3.4oea,and now in 3.4 oea i can't view my settings or change theme or anything because it bricks when i go there..anyone have a fix for this?lol i like pwned my psp, it still plays games and all ijust can't view any settings etc etc etc...

this firmware sucks so i downgraded back to a 1.50 all you have to do is put the 1.50 eboot in a folder called recovery in the game folder and go to recovery and run program at psp/game/recovery/eboot.pbp and wa la you have a 1.50 just to let you no :)
FORMAT YOUR FLASH 1!!!
lotsa junk might have accumulated over time in there.. don't worry flash1 only contains your SETTINGS, the psp will automatically fill it up once it boots.. the downside is, you lose all your WEP/internet settings..
The best thing is Over the internet remote play... i have a ps3 and now i can go to my grandparents house and leave my ps3 in remote play and i can use it now, before i could not becuase u had to be on the same connection.

Dark Alex's OE + Updates = Updates/new releases weren't as frequent because he is ALONE and hence more time to work on updates.
Team M33 + Updates = 10+ devs working together hence QUICKER and FASTER Updates/Releases.
Features wise when it comes to the two?
If OE works in your liking then use it.
If M33 works for you also then go for it too!
If your in the same boat as me and BOTH is better than picking sides. then do that too!

No, just run the update on 3.51 M33-1. You do not have to downgrade. Simply place the M33_7 folder into your GAME150 folder, then run it.

I just recently downgraded from 5.30 to 1.50.Then I installed 3.40 OE-A.Then M33 came out and I upgraded and I have never looked back.It runs all my home brew perfectly.I have never had WiFi problems or any problems what so ever.And it runs PSX game perfect.I wouls recomened this CFW to anybody.Give it up for M33!!!!!!!!

The DCEmu has a clean 3.51 .prx that allows XMB customization with the exception of the system_fg file (Battery PRX)

My problem is the PSP is brand new. It has 3.51 Official firmware already said to have an ISO loader on it but for encrypted games for Sony to release via download in the future
