Beware! New PSPs with FW 2.81 from factory. |
Ó
So if you or any of your friends are planning to buy a PSP in the near future, please make sure to not buy one which has a box code L on the sticker. In case you don't know, firmware 2.81 isn't hacked yet, so you'll probably be stuck without homebrew for at least a while. Oh and remember, friends don't let their friends buy a homebrew-less PSP.
23 Jumps Custom firmware 5.50GEN-D now out

Lol, good move for sony, bad move for us
People need to beware of which psp they buy now, which sucks >.<
P.S. 1st, but actually, I don't give a ***** :)
1st non-gay post
omg, what a pity for the ones that buy a new one.. xDD!
$ony has moved.
Not every shop lets you look at the box containg the psp you want to buy. But some have them in a glass display box so i guess you can point and say i want that one.
5th
I dont think anybody in their right mind that new about homebrew would buy one from a store.. ebay all the way.. i got a new 2.0 from ebay for $160 2 weeks ago..
HOMEBREW or FTB2,MOH,BF2014,GTmoblie,KILL SONE,BIA,COD
I WILL TAKE THE LATER TY
it would so smart of s0ny to make homebrew and just block the loading of iso's . why cant they make that happen? i would be at 2.81 if that was the case. everyone would be happy except for the slimy pirates.
*****
$160, thats not to bad for a 2.0 system! nice snag!
LOOKS FAKE TO ME, THE NUMBERS SEEM WRITTEN IN DEEPER INK THAN THE OTHERS.
the reason why it isnt hacked yet is because people are making homebrew ***** like Devhook Extreme Custom Second Edition SE-X for 2.71. they need to get off 2.71 and start doing ***** on 2.8 or people will not support homebrew anymore.
Sony Cant let homebrew on the psp with out letting iso loader go to, there would be no way for sony to controle what game are allowed on to it and what isnt. Th only way they could would to for people to submit there stuff for sony to allow, and homebrew makes wont do that. They dont want Sony to hame the last say about what games can, or cant be on it. As a ISO loader user its not fesible for sony to contrloe itall. I use ISOs of my own purchase games because most of them load a lot faster and play smoother than on the UMD. Plus, with the iso the psp dossent have a assess the umd drive to get the info so my battery life jumps a good %50.
STFU and start hacking 2.8 yourself. ill bet anything that people are working on 2.8 .. but its ungrateful pricks like you that dont appreciate 2.71 se and dont deserve to have homebrew.. how could you be so stupid to upgrade your psp? or why would you buy a 2.8 when you knew that its not cracked yet. i hope you never get homebrew bob! i hope your psp dies.
goto hell dude. i have a 2.71 and frankly i dont give a ***** about all this stuff they are releasing . yeah we got the attention now its time to pass it on to 2.8
Oh teh noes!!! Not teh factory 2.8 PSPs!!!
No, but seriously, this sucks.
It's okay though, I have a HEN-C/DevHook .46 TA-082, so i'm okay. :)
As long as they release the PSone emulator soon I'm upgrading i've had 1.5 since day 1 not that much interested w/ homebrew except the ISO's.
homebrew will never die. i hope 2.8 never gets a downgrader. we dont need more noobs asking stupid questions without using the search button first.
Remove that "non-" and you'll be spot on friend.
I agree with that fact that ripping UMDs is great but I would rather have the option of homebrew with the latest fw. Oh well 1.5 w. devhook can play all the latest games at the moment so it really doesnt matter. GTA will be a problem Im sure.. OH well for Sony alot of people wont upgrade for one game .
Im sure someone skilled is going to pass around 2.81 sooner or later.
Nothing can save the firmware from "teh Hax11111".
Also theres so many things you can do on flash anyway.
L0L,in my town,they are still selling F's and G's(2.00 and 2.01)
,i bought an F - 2.00 firmware just a few days ago and downgraded it, and i was afraid that there could be +2.70
The flash in the latest systems is screwing the game companies.. Now anybody with an internet connection can play pirated games without a MOD Chip.. hahha.. how stupid. It was alot harder to play isos on the ps1 if you didnt know how to solder or have the means to get a modchip . now it doesnt matter.
omg the picture is so fake. look at the numbers.
Look at the number real close and notice how they copy and paste that "image/numbers"
What trips me out is the PSP Connect site openly sponsors a site (this one) that discourages people from updating to the latest firmware. If that's cool with Sony then what's the deal with the hombrew-killing firmwares?
congratulations . you've won the retarded post contest!!! you're prize is a swift kick in the balls. that is the most ignorant thing i've seen in a while. people will stop supporthing homebrew if 2.80 isn't hacked? is that a threat? you my friend are a retard. first of all anyone that currently supports homebrew are the ones who have the option to use homebrew (i.e. non-2.80 users). secondly it's your fault. so deal with it. personally i dont give a ***** if you support homebrew or not. i'm sure others feel the same. the scene is better off without jerkoffs like you anyway.
perfectly said
Ebay is the way to go, homebrew lovers should know better than to buy at Wally-world or other stores. I got a 2.71 with 5 UMD's (NFS: MW, Madden 06, NBA Street 2, Star Wars: BF2, and Fast and the Furious movie) for only $150. The games themselves retailed for more than that.
good because I was thinking of getting a new psp or wait till homebrew work on FW2.8(not those little TIFF games).
Yup, I started out with a 1.5... now at 2.8 They need to work on 2.8 I think...
I first found out about homebrew at V 2.6 and was using Edison carter GTA then started useing eloader and i had it good. then 2.7 came along I remember seeing and reading stuff that it was merely impossible for sony to fix GTA becuse it was a bug in the game itself... so i updated didnt read the news becuse it was at midnight... I thought homebrew was not gonna be possible for 2.7 so i updated to 2.8 when that came out.... and i kept checking the news anyway for something homebrew then there came out for 2.7 homebrew maybe people were saying so i see the next update and said secruity update... I didnt update for that crap... and then i read QJ and it said there was basic homebrew for 2.8 and now here i am waiting patiently for homebrew or a downgrader..
Dont take this personly, but NEVER asume that there is a Downgrader, or something like it for a new FW. And aslo never asume that there will be onein a few weeks, all you do is set your self up for disapointment. I got my psp at the relase, but i have never upgraqded with out knowing that i could downgrade. This is a good idea for anyone. Like when 3.00 comes out i will not upgrade. I will liy and wait for some news about cracks or hacks comming out. A PS1 emulator is nice, but not key on my list of wants.
Because what people still can't seem to get their narrow minds around, is the fact that the firware updates are to fix security holes that could be used maliciously, and NOT to put a stop to homebrew.
Not to say that they want to support homebrew in any way, but they're main goal with the firmware updates is to protect the general consumer.
Well my wife has a psp v2.6 and I have a 1.5 psp with devhook i have no reason to upgrade any psp, best of both worlds
Most of the people who homebrew use the Video players and emulators. Sony doesnt care about videos anymore, they know they were flawed in not settings regulations for UMD, thats why sales never kicked off, movie companies were too worried at the new format they wanted to recoupe the cost asap.
But then theres the ricsk of letting people run ISOs. Soon enough the FW3.0 will be out along with the PS3 with all the features they promised us. What then? Those who have 2 PSPs have nothing to worry about but then again those who have only 1 have to make the choice of either upgrading for the PSX emulator, or buy a new PSP.
Homebrew is counter-productive. As soon as they find a leak, sony patches it. Homebrew is helping sony alot more then you can imagine. Why pay someone to find leaks and patch it when you can just monitor the homebrew scene for people to find leaks for free. People make good money finding flaws in software and if Sony can get people to do it for free, then why not, thats money they dont have to pay.
Eventually all the leaks will be sealed up. Every new leak will be met with a new firmware. I dont know if they emulated 2.81 yet but if they havnt, then chances of them emulating FW3.00 when the PS3 is out will be slim.
Right, i do agree homebrew is overrated, but if anyone does want a 2.6 factory new psp, buy the entertainment pack, because my friend just bought one 6 days back, and it was 2.6 factory, but TA-82 PSP

what if sony set up a distro website for homebrew... that website would have a few mods that test and check the brew to make sure its not malicious. put the encryption on it and then distribute it for free. that way we would be able to have homebrew on higher firmwares without iso loaders. the only thing that would be able to published is legit homebrew.
the way they could check the brew is with maybe a..... program that checked for i dunno functions that allow the deletion of all files on the flash(an application that would be used on a computer.)
that way sony could get tons of buyers both homebrew lovers and umd game lovers alike. as for 3.00... im not looking forward to it because it will only further limit the capabilities of the psp while offering mediocre excuses... i mean applications to make us want to update to make our psp more "secure" and "safe". it is also taking the fun out of having a psp; no ways to cheat or anything anymore. i will stick with my 1.5 psp and devhook(2.71fw) fw with my syphon filter dark mirror and all my homebrew, while these idiots or people who just dont know about homebrew go out and update their psps to 3.0 and above and then ask whens it gon be hacked.
If only sony would read this page.
to QJ staff:
would it be possible for links to previous boxes' "letters":a,c,d,etc... onto the front page linked to this article to quickly refresh new buyers on the "letter" game.
-thx
so what i just wish i can afford a psp
so what i just wish i can afford a psp
This is a Korean PSP yes? Won't be here for a looonnnnggg time. Don't worry. They started selling 2.71's in Korea a long time ago and they still haven't got here.
What makes you think their not?
lol thatll be kinda like choosing a pet
this is what happens when you compress the picture. its not copying and pasting... why would anyone fake this? makes no sence.
Yes the old holes will be filled but with new features comes new possible exploits, and as you can see with all the new features in FW3.00 theres lots of potential for exploits.
If your from canada and you would rather buy a older psp from a store, head over to your local Zellers (the ones around here are dead nowadays) they usually have pre-TA-82 psp's, and if you happen to know about a zellers in a bad part of town you may be able to find a 1.5 psp (i found one a month ago for my buddy). Thing is really to look at places you would never think of buying electronics from usually.
My friends dont even know what homebrew is let alone want a psp that can run some.... i showed them the glry of it n wut they say.... i wanna play nba live 07.... i tell them u can do that w/o the game... they say wuteva. therefore if my friends buy one of these, good for them i say
pwned
Really these are the newest PSPs being made so why wouldn't they have the newest firmware. It's good to know that they are out there and what to look for but this is to be expected. I mean why would Sony load something like 2.5 or 2.7 on a newest run of PSPs? Not everyone is interested in homebrew so this makes it easier on them since they won't have to upgrade for a while.
Although I love homebrew not everyone does my friend uses his for what it was meant for mp3s,video, and UMD games. I've shown him the emulators and devhook but he said he isn't interested so that's his choice and I respect it. If someone doesn't like homebrew their not insane hell-spawn they just have a different opinion than you so just let them be. I mean who is it hurting you still have your homebrew, just live and let live.
I just found out I still got my psp box in my room at the same place I took my psp out on my birthday (may 29th) lmfao.
Well maybe for you it is but not for me. Let me explain. I love emulators there great and i loave backing up my games that i have purchased. Not to mention over clocking. I love that becuse when you can turn the frame rate up and enjoy game at 333 Mhz instead of 222 Mhz like playing Socom Online at 333 its wondifull. Plus there so much more homebrew that you not listing say for insatnce Ir Shell Which is great and lets me play my own music on my UMD games. This rocks again Socom 333 Mhz and My own Mp3 and online. I could go on and on but there not no since. Trust me i could. Im not going to do that. Now for the case of the 3.00 not cracked. It will be like all other are. Right now not alot of firmware cracking going on like for instance 2.81 becuse they are waiting for 3.00. There nothing on 2.81 anyways. Im sure you already no that. So they will wait for something worth putting there time in. Not to mention there is a Homebrew psx 1 that looks very promising. Maybe one or two more maybe three month and i think it will be a nice piece of homebrew. Like all that start off slow and work up speed.
As i said 3.0 will be hacked and you can take that to the bank + get paid.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOO!!!!!!! !!!!!!1
I got a 1.0 PSP for $180 but I never heard of Homebrew unitl it was to late... I got updated...

Did you even read my comment, smart guy? This is a site where the only news items posted are 1) inconsequential game developments, and 2) tricks and exploits that either void your warranty or (let me repeat myself) discourage users from loading the latest security patch.
And you don't think Sony is sending a mixed message with a sponsored link to this site? A casual, know-nothing PSP user finds PSP Connect, finds the plain-as-day link to PSP Updates, and another PSP user is part of Sony's 'problem.' It's sending a mixed message. And unless you are a Sony employee you're not qualified to give the answer I was looking for.
But don't get me wrong, I love this site and don't ever want it to go anywhere.
I have finally given in to the temptation to upgrade. and now I am at 2.80 and im happy, for now...
we all love eye$ a$$ h0le$!!!
work on 2.8 damn it
Homebrew is dead. Nothing homemade is worth playing at all. The only thing that's worth running off of a memory card are emulators, and if I wanted to play those games I'd play them on the machines they were originally made for, none of this half framerate bullshot you get on PsP. Just upgrade to 2.81 already and play the games that are actually made for the machine. They're better anyway.
And for all you jackholes emulating ISO's it's you that's killing the "scene" not "$ony." Get a job and buy some *****ing games.
your just a *****ing retard and you have no idea what your talking about.
omg sony r so slow, it took them 2 months to realise they needed to bump all the firmwares to the latest.
beware new psp buyers!!!
if u r g4y call this *82-425-918-1451
if u r g4y call this *82-425-918-1451 call me plzzzzzzzz i luv men.... CALL NOW
ISOs are bad... forget you iso lover... it would b nice to use homebrew on latest firmware tho...
The reason companies like Sony won't put up a homebrew site is simple... $$$. If everyone that buys a PSP is able to get hundreds of homebrew games for FREE (instead of just the able-minded PSP owners), then Sony would see a drop in UMD Game sales. It's as simple as that. Some people go out and get a new game simply because they're bored with the ones they have; and unless they see a new PSP game that really catches their eye, they don't really care what game they find as long as it's something different. Homebrew can give them that for free.
I'm sure there are people working on getting 2.8 downdated to 1.5... and I remember reading a week ago about all the impatient morons complaining that there isn't one out yet. Now I'm in the same boat, as I just returned my last used PSP because of dead pixels and got one that someone upgraded to 2.80 :-( So, I'm in the patience line... at least I wasn't stupid enough to be the one who upgraded it... Homebrew APPS turn a PSP into a PDA. 'nuf said.
i have a job and i loooooove my isos
YO THANKS MAN I REALLY LUV U U ARE JUST a great psp tihinker
