Are you ready for homebrew? 3.03 HEN and Downgrader released! |
Fanjita may have told you guys what to do with a non-homebrew capable PSP, but now it appears that everyone can get in on the homebrew fun! The "goofy exploit" which exists in firmwares 2.00 to 3.03 was found on Friday, January 25, 2007, a date which you'd think might go down in the PSP homebrew history. But it probably won't because despite their seven-day ETA, the Noobz team has once again fortified its position at the top of the homebrew coding ladder with a 3.03 downgrader - just three days after the exploit was found!
Some call it magic, others call it an act of god, but whatever the reason for it, PSP gamers all across the world can now downgrade their consoles to the magic of homebrew-capable 1.5, and then if they wish to do so, upgrading to homebrew-capable custom firmware. All you need is a PSP running firmware 3.03 (if not then update to 3.03 using the update EBOOT found here) the downgrader files and the 1.50 EBOOT as well as an unpatched version of Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories.
Unpatched versions of Liberty City Stories contain the 2.0 update, whereas patched versions contain higher updates. If your copy of LCS has an update higher than 2.0 on it, then you will have to find an unpatched UMD to proceed. There's no need to worry if you have a TA-082 PSP as the downgrader will check your motherboard and patch it if necessary. Note the downgrader will not let you proceed without patching if your motherboard requires it.
Not only has Noobz released a 3.03 downgrader but they've also managed to release a 3.03 HEN (Homebrew Enabler) for the PSP. This means that those of you who aren't too sure that you want to downgrade can still play homebrew on 3.03. This does not flash your PSP, but by running HEN, it installs a patch in your PSP's memory, that allows you to run homebrew almost as if you had a v1.5 PSP. This patch remains in place until you fully turn off your PSP - it will survive the PSP being placed into sleep mode. You run the HEN application just as you do the downgrader using Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories.
To use this simply download the 3.03 HEN files from the download links below and copy them to your PSP. Then run your unpatched version of GTA:LCS and the patch will apply itself. It will be stored in RAM and will stay there until you reset your PSP. Putting the PSP in sleep mode will not remove the patch. This is based on the source for HEN 2.71 provided by Dark_Alex, so the Noobz team would like to thank him for the code and the help. Additional credits go to Booster, Team C + D for the registry kernel exploit and Mathieulh for the help provided to Dark_AleX.
PLEASE READ: This downgrader has been tested by the highly-successful Noobz team and has been proven to work, however there is a small chance that bricking could occur during the process of downgrading. QJ.Net and the Noobz team are not responsible for any damage which may happen to your PSP by this application. Can you also note before use that it is possible to brick using this downgrader if you downgrade and then update to 3.03 and then downgrade again. The advice from Fanjita right now is to only use this once. If you update to 3.03 again after using the downgrader then we suggest you leave it there to prevent your PSP from bricking.
Now we've got the boring bit over with, we can move onto the downgrade process itself. Here's QJ's "how to" for downgrading from 3.03 to 1.50:
1. Update to firmware 3.03. If already have this firmware then proceed to step 2.
2. Open the 3.03 downgrade file and copy the contents of the folder MS_ROOT to the root of your memory stick.
3. Open the 1.5 update and rename the EBOOT.PBP to UPDATE.PBP then copy it to /PSP/GAME/UPDATE/
Make sure not to overwrite PSP/GAME/UPDATE/EBOOT.PBP
4. Load Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories (unpatched)
5. It should get to loading save game, clear the screen, the screen should fill with a light blue color and then reset the PSP
(If this does not happen see below)
6. Check that HEN is running by going to system settings then System Information and it should show up as system version 303 HEN
7. If it is showing up as 3.03 HEN then go to the memory stick and run the x.yz update
8. Before the downgrader does anything to your PSP it will ask for you to agree to what it is doing
If you no longer want to continue press the Right Shoulder Button (R-TRIGGER).
9. Once you have agreed to start the downgrade do not unplug the PSP
10. Once finished the PSP will ask you to press X, after pressing it will reset it self.
11. If it comes up saying that the settings are corrupt press X to continue.
12. Enjoy your new shiny 1.5 PSP.
What do you do once you have firmware 1.5? Well, you can either start downloading homebrew games from our QuickJump Downloads site and use DevHook to run your current homebrew games or use the more popular which is to upgrade to Dark_Alex's 3.03 OE-C Custom firmware. The friendly people over at our forums have even created an easy-to-follow installation guide for 3.03 OE-C if you've never used custom firmware before. This will give you all the features of 3.03 and the ability to play homebrew and PSX games too! It doesn't get much better than this. My friend used to have 2.71, but downgraded and now has 3.03 OE-C... but he somehow managed to brick his 1.50 kernal, so no homebrew/recovery, he's basically stuck with 3.03 but with ISOs. He was waiting for a GTA downgrader so he can start up GTA and downgrade using his intact 3.03 kernal, and you guys are saying he can't use this to downgrade since he has downgraded before?!

If its not the 3.03 downgrader, its the fact that they havent stopped custom firmwares from being released, updates dont need to be fully cracked to be made into a OE firmware
people like me are going to abuse this, im going to downgrade about 5-6 psps in the next month just because i want everyone to get in on the action, but i also know that now, thats going to be 5-6 more ppl who are going to use isos, trust me, i will inform them about it
this is bad for sony, and possibly the community, i say, Noobz needs to release a umd iso check pronto, to ensure that the iso dump matches the mac address of the psp its on, start taking responsibility

I Understand What You mean for i aswell cannot downgrade for this reason there are just not enough Unpatched GTA UMDs out there to satisfy the Homebrew Hunger of the World! as such i suspect we shall See another Wii/PS3 Type Quantity Predicament and im already seeing it sold at extorcianist prices on ebay!

I would think more like 70-75% either have no idea or dont know how (or dont care).
If people like the games enough - especially when you can get them used or for less than 30 bucks (which a lot of psp game are) - then people will always buy games. No worries.

I've been downgraded since 2.71 DG came out but i've been wanting to play multiplayer for a long time now with my mate who had updated to 2.81, then the other day he updated to 3.03 believing (on my dumb advice) that he could play ps1 games (we didn't know you had to activate em) so you can imagine my relief when this downgrader came out, you guys really are my heros!

Most ppl cant find the 2.00 unpatched Liberty city stories version of the data or game.. meaning.. that this will be a long wait for me and others out there.. Time to wait even longer Perhaps when march comes around 3.04fw may hit.
And those who cant downgrade because of the lack of 2.00 unpatched Liberty city stories.. They may get the 3.04fw but thatll be kinda not a great idea unless 3.04fw had amazingly good addons etc.. that sony releases.
just downgraded my TA-082 psp all went well then upgraded to 303 C all went well put some brew on and a couple of games all went well except if the psp is not used for a minute or two it shuts down and you have to reboot any ideas please.
I am lucky enough to have the unpatched version though. Can I get 75, now 80, 85, 90, sold! LOL LOL. Just kidding

You have to have the Un-Patched version ofthe game.
Get it used and tell them that you have to check the version that it comes with.

I think you may have to have liberty city stories.. so far its the only game confirmed.
I was going to try it using the mgs po umd since its 2.81fw.
But maybe its only for any psp game that haves the Umd unpatched 2.00fw data or whatever.

go to recovery mode and change 3.03 kernal to 1.50 kernal and your homebrew should work

I read this somewhere a short while ago.
After the psp is flashed back to 1.5, it still has remnants of things from 3.03.
This causes problems when trying to downgrade more than once.(not that a need to downgrade multiple times is needed)
but i have a TA psp and its 2.71 and the HEND does not work for me so i want to no do i have to run the HEN to downgrade? and if i do is this one stable?

Is that files for the downgrader to work or is it samples for us to try out? I tried loading that cube sample thinking maybe it was some sort of homebrew showing off a 3d cube or whatever but it didnt open.

I would back sony and do all there official updates, but the custom firmwares offer way more than sony's updates. (No not ISO's that I'm talking about) I mean like support for video formats and resolutions and things like that.

hey i was wondering about that part saying "Can you also note before use that it is possible to brick using this downgrader if you downgrade and then update to 3.03 and then downgrade again." hello, I downloaded this hen downgrader, and sucsusufuly went from 3.03 to 1.5, but in the instalation i didnt place 1.5 in a tep. folder, so when i try to load the 'psp network config backup' it says game could not be started. do i need to fix this? Because i plan to go up to 3.03 OE-C pls help me.

holy ***** balls i though it bricked this psp, it wasnt even mine... lol... after the 1.50 downgrade, it restarted and the backlight was completely off. i thought i had bricked this kids psp... luckily someone on this forum mentioned the same thing so i pushed the screen brightness button and the backlight turned on. holy god, they should include that in the instructions, cause i almost cried. FYI it was a 2.81, i downgraded with the unpatched GTA LCS then upgraded to 3.03 OE-C successfully.

kinda upset at the fact my psp seems to be bricked and before you start im not 1 of them immature idiots that comes on here to type swear words and basically piss everybody of im actually concerned that its bricked ok heres what happened i downloaded the files 4 the noobz 3.03 homebrew enabler and stored them on the root like it said then i booted up my unpatched version of gta it was all going good got to the bit just before the loading bar where it checks your memory card 4 saved files and then a black screen and nothing so i waited for about half an hour with a black screen and no orange loading light on the memory card so i decided to turn it off and try again i turned it off then back on got a quick flash from the mem light and nothing no sound no picture only thing it does now is turn on and off im honestly at a loss here can anybody please tell me whats going on cos i have no idea thank you
IceSamurai, I think I recognize you from PSPLive. It's easy, just update to 3.03. If you dont know how to update that's just sad seeing as the first thing you see on your psp menu is 'network update'. Then downgrade with this downgrader.

If you did everything right and got it to brick... You probably had bunch of useless files on the MS stick... which conflicted with the HEN/downgrader which caused it to brick...
You can only cry now... or wait for someone to release a unbricker, which will probably never happen ;)

Oh, that bites man. You probably didn't know that a lot of people have reported that the backlight just truns off when downgrading. All you would have had to do was turn the light back on. But, unfortunately you turned off your PSP therefore bricking it. You have my sympathies and I'm really sorry that happened to you.
I think they might get quite many units sold now that all of them are homebrewable, but the games as I assume you are refering to probably will go down a bit, but people with brains will buy the game if it's worth it (I admit having downloaded both Medievil and Tony hawks underground 2 myself but they both suck so I deleted them and did not WASTE money and more time on them)
Everything worked perfect, even the upgrade to 3.03oc! Thank you Only problem is...after everything I took the files from my memory card and cut them out of the /psp/game/ folder and copied them to my computer for later use, then I put the GTA disk back in and now my psp turns on, but its a glowing black screen. Did I brick it? I can hear the umd spinning, but just the glowing black screen and I can't turn it off without taking out the battery. Oh, and I'm' a nOOb, but I did get everything to work for a couple hours. HELP, Please

I can get into my recovery, but when I "Run program at /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/EBOOT.PBP" it doesn't work. I'm assuming that it's because I took the files off my memory card? Any suggestions? It also states in Recovery mode under "Configuration/Game folder homebrew (currently:3.03 Kernel)". Hope this helps. Will it do me any good to place the files back on the memory card to fix this error?

hi, i have been a heavy psp user/hacker since about july 06. Until now i havent had to use any of the GTA exploits but have used Boosters' Devhook (credit). I'm one of those ppl who tell my friends with psp's that u can play nintendo games and old sega game on it aswell which gets their attention immediately, anyway, i was wondering if anyone is working on a way to get around the new GTA expoit with a more convention method such as the previous downdgrader releases of Dark_Alex (credit also). I happen to have possension of my friends psp at the moment and 'by magic or an act of god' he had the 2.00 ver of GTA, which he let me swap my 2.6 ver with him. I also want to know if the new GTA related 3.03 expoit is as stable as say the 2.71downgrader? Cheers to every1 at qj.net, your doing a really great job. Keep up the updates.

I'm going to run the 3.03oec update file that I have...when my battery is over 75%, like it's telling me and not allowing me until it is. Sound advice. THANK YOU! I'm choosing this file because of the downgrading to 1.5 warning that is stated. If this doesn't work I'll just put the standard 3.03 in.

when you are using the liberty city game to downgrade will the liberty city stories still work ?
Once you downgrade to 1.5 you need to upgrade to 3.03 OE. From there, you can run liberty city stories just fine because you're running the 3.03 firmware.

i downgraded my 2.5 psp and 3 other 2.6 psps ages ago. i am glad there is a downgrader for 3.03 because my m8 used to update at every chance he got but now ive convinced him and another m8 with a 2.80 psp 2 downgrade

I had homebrew before christmas, but my mum updated my psp (and nearly bricked it) so I thought it was gone forever. Now I have it back!!!
Finally, all those noobs who actually upgraded (me excluded) can get good ol' fashined homebrew on thier psp's.
And until Sony makes you upgrade to 3.04+ just to play an online match of any Infrastructure psp games - there will be plenty of people happy.
In many ways it is a sad thing for the psp. I'm sure that the illegal playing of ISOs has hurt the psp's sales. Perhaps why the DS sells more games by far (not the only factor, of course).

im freekin pissed! i got all exited thinking i could downgrade cause i thought i had the unpatched gta but when i took a closer look at it it turned out that i had the patched version!
See what happened to me above, but after i fixed it I deleted the files out of PSP/SAVEDATA. This is where the exploit would start from when loading the game. There may be other ways, but this is what worked for me and I could play the game too. I wish that would have been written somewhere in the instuctions, of what I can delete after.

gawd, so i updated from 1.50 to 303oe-c, can i view 480x272 now w/o touching oe-b? cuz so far i tried converting videos to 480x272 and putting them into mp_root/mv(blah) but it doesnt work, am i putting them into the wrong folder or do i HAVE to go from 1.5 to 303oe-a then to oe-b THEN to oe-c for the video thing to work?

My psp is from hong kong, imported, the x = o and o=x. Will this have any effect on me downgrading, as I am on 3.03 and want to do this downgrade?
I got a imported psp from Hong kong. X and O controls are mixed round. It may sound stupid but does this have any effect on me downgrading, and how do I check my motherboard number?
Flash2 (there is also flash3) are part of the FW3.x series.
Flash1 isn't formatted because that happens when FW 1.50 boots up and finds all the settings corrupted.

i has just finish downgrading my psp but when it says to press x y pressed it and then the psp become like a brick but when i move de keys it sounds like it works just the screen dosnt works so i conected it to mi pc and erased all the files and the screen come back and now i gona uprade to 3.03 OE-C ufffff i was scared as hell
Well, if you do everything right, you should be just fine. Just don't do anything stupid like turning the PSP off when downgrading, taking out the battery, or unplugging the AC adapter. I've done this five or so times already with downgraders and custom firmware installers and I haven't had a problem.
I'm kinda pissed. I payed my friend 50 bucks and gave him my 2.81 psp for his 2.0 psp like 4 months ago. Now I feel ripped............ LOL I almost feel bad for sony, ALMOST

I just downgraded about 10 minutes ago!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!. I have never had Homebrew. Can someone tell me what is the best HOmebrew app out right now.

Thats an impossible question to ask... so many out there. Definately get iR Shell though. It adds many features to the psp like a file browser and can launch many file types. It also can be used to act as a universal remote.
Other nice homebrews are NesterJ (NES emulator), PortableVNC(har d to set up without a guide, but you can contol your PC though your PSP), Noiz2sa, Trigonometry Wars, X-Flash(firmware customizer, be careful with this one, could brick), Devhook .51 with CWcheat... I guess thats all I can think of now. I have 95 homebrew games and apps, 1 iso(I own the game), 4 devhook firmwares, a video(Word Dissassociation ), hundreds of ROMs, and 1 ps1 eboot(Crash 2) on my 4gb right now... and still have 1300mb left! :)

everytime i go through the process it sais theres an error decrypting DATA.PSP
i was wondering if ne body can help me downgrade my psp...i followed the instructions on the read me text file but everytime i load GTA LCS the game just starts right up and plays...i just copied the ms_root file from the download and pasted it inside the mp_root file on my memory stick...Did i do that part right? im really getting frustrated please help!

im tryn to downgrade my psp...i followed all the intructions provided to me to the tee...but everytime i load GTA LCS the game just comes right on without trying to reset anything!....i know its the right version because it has the update for 2.0 on it....i copied the entire MS_ROOT file strait from the download and pasted it in my MP_ROOT file on my media stick...could that be the problem?...i then changed the name of the EBOOT.PBP file i downloaded to UPDATE.PBP and placed it in the same folder which contains the PSP 3.03 firmware (side by side)....then i inserted the GTA disc and i got nothing....what am i doing wrong?...pleaze help!
Holding your psp in your right hand, just fart under the sheets of your bed while covering your entire body, and then the downgrader should work.
If not, repeat the procedure.
If it's still not working, you've got the wrong GTA, because it has the upgrade for a firm higher than 2.00.

Yes for TA-082 users it apparently patches your motherboard so u can downgrade
when i download the 3.03 downgrade from noobz.eu it gives me a ms_root file and a src file, now here is where i get lost and super scared, i read through there guide and it says to put the ms_root file in the memorystick stick root, which is next to the psp file, ok so i copy the ms_root file there and then i dont know what to do next, it says something about changing the eboot.pbp to update.pbp, but i see a whole lot of .pbp files please help me, thnxs!

hey ive got a question about downgrading--if u downgrade and use dark alex's oeb --can u still play UMDs that require a higher firmware???
as far as i know there is no need for higher firmware as da oeb is 3.03

try press the screen brightness button. it shld b ok.
Source-Released-Code. not 4 u. only for coders. u can delete it away.
Format Your Memorystick on the PSP System Settings>format memory stick
(make sure youve backed up all your files before doing this) now double click MS_ROOT hit Ctrl-A so everything is selected now copy paste those into the PSP Folder on your memorystick it will ask you for an overwrite hit yes to all now put in gta and load it up

The unpached one has the 2.0 update on it and the patched one has a hier update. I hope that you have the unpached one

i have succeeded too!!! and had the the same black screen scare. For ppl that dont know - Downgrading may default backlight as off just turn this on using the O button next to sound button. This happened to me only on my third downgrade.

Ive done everything put the contents of the ms-root from the 3.03 downgrader to memerory stick,then the problem ive put the 1.50 downgrade in the psp/game/update folder and called it UPDATE.PBP and when i load then x.yz it says cant find the update pbp can someone help me am i naming the files right.

Ok, I have downloaded 3.03 downgrader and 1.50 firmware. I burrowed GTA:LCS (which included ver. 2.00 update) and followed the steps to downgrader my psp(my psp is 3.03 and I bought it 2 months ago)
Here are my questions.
1. Do I need to have save data of GTA:LCS in my memory stick? ( or do I need to delete anything in my "SAVEDATE" folder?)
I haven't completed the game yet.
I just burrowed it from my friend today.
I just completed only one mission and saved it right away.
After that, I followed the step 6 and 7.
2. Do I overwrite PSP folder when I copy the PSP folder in 3.03 downgrader file into my psp?
(I mean, there are folder called "MS-ROOT" and "SRC"
and the following guide didn't mention to copy "SRC" to my PSP. Does that mean I don't have to copy "SRC" to my psp? Do I only copy the "psp" folder in "MS_ROOT" to my psp?)
After that, I renamed "EBOOT.PBP" into "UPDATE.PBP"
and copied this into "UPDATE" folder of my psp.
Then, I played or loaded GTA:LCS as it is written in the guide.
But, it didn't work!!

Therefore, I tried this "If GTA does not load 3.03 HEN and it loads up a save game, try making
a backup copy of all of the directories in :/PSP/SAVEDATA/
before deleting them. Then try copying the contents of the 303 HEN zip

I have a TA-082 fw 2.71, downgraded to 1.5 via GTA. Everything went great. It seems now that my PSP is running rather slow. My SNES games are really slow. Is there a setting that I need to make to speed things up? If I move on to what I call phase 2 and install the new costom 3.03, will this fix my speed problem?

I thought this guide was a little more helpful.
I also read that the folders need be in caps. not llower case. I don't know if this is true. However that is how I did it last night. Also, I started with a freshly formatted MS. I did not have a GTA game save. I just loaded it per the guide.

Answers:
1. No - Copy your MS to your computer for safe keeping. Format your MS and start over.
2. Yes - Copy the CONTENTS of the MS_ROOT to your MS, overwrite files if asked. Follow the guide exactly!
3. Make sure your file structure is exactly X:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE/UPDATE.PBP - make sure to use caps.

I have now succesfully downgraded and updated to 3.03 OE-C on 11 psp's and not one brick, the first was my own, second my girlfriends, then my mates and yesterday i downgraded + upgraded my local pub landlords sons psp for a 40 quid tab behind the bar.
I just got mine yesterday at EB Games for 15.00.
i dont know if i should downgrade, how easy is it to brick your psp doing this?
Anytime you start jacking with the fw you are risking bricking your system. My PSP is a month old with a clean fw. I followed the guides exactly and did not have any problems. Good Luck!

Do I delete everything in my UPDATE folder?
I thought it wouldn't matter if I don't delete them off of my disk. I continued to the steps for Recovery Menu.
To use Recovery Menu, it said "Turn your PSP off, and turn it back on, holding the 'R' trigger button"
It didn't work.
Since this step was only for disabling the showing of "Corrup Icon" I just skipped this step.
Now, where am I supposed to put ISO files (game file) to play game?
And where do I load the game from?

i can't use the 3.03 upgrade, the menu says corrupted data when i try. help?
I installed Dark_Alex's update and tried to run
my downloaded game which is ISO file.
but it doesn't work.
I put it in the "GAME320" folder and tried but it shows up as "corrupted file"
I also put this in the "GAME" folder but didn't work.
Finally, I put it in the ISO folder, and it seemed like it was working. But the notice pops up saying
"the file can not be started"
Please, someone help me!

i updated then i put the psp folder in the MS_Root to in my memory stick root. when i opened the gta game no flash of light the game started playing

lets say i succsesfully downgrade to 1.5 from this..., can i upgrade my psp back into the 2.0's and 3.0's using sony released updates, or am i stuck on ver 1.50, and if i try to change versions, i get bricked?

use hen. it not downgrading but it lets you use home brew until you turnoff the psp so use it to upgrade your psp to custom firmware
i have FIFA 06 and it has the update 2.00 file does this work?

Does it need to b GTA:LCS? or can it b any 2.0 updater? I have SSX on tour with a 2.0 updater. Will this work in the same way or is the exploit only usable with GTA:LCS?

in the beginning his psp nickname starts as 405.
but after he flashes the psp and at the end, it shows his nickname as 165.

Something is not allowing me to look at/use the files
They show as "Corrupt File"
I watched the video and read the steps and there's no direction for having these files be shown as corrupt.

when i start my GTA LCS (unpatched) the game load everything like it should do. But when the screen turns blue my PSP and i wait e few sceconds my PSP don't restart as it should do. It just get OFF. Then i turn my psp on and there is no 3.03 hen under system information

ok guys, i have 2 working 3.03 CF but upon trying to downgrade the 3.03 regular one we have i've hit a snag. i've got to the 3.03 HEN, but when i run xyz, it says it cannot find the update.pbp... now i've checked and rechecked where it is/where it's supposed to go, AND i've tried downloading the 1.5 update several times. i'm at a loss here. do i re-update to 3.03 and start all over, of can i just go from HEN? SO close, and depressingly so far. any help would be HUGELY appreciated.

Worked for two of my friend's psps (I did the downgrade.) Had the back light scare on one of them. Powered off, hit back light button and we were good to go (after we reset it to English from German...kind of randomly clicked around blind heh.
I have downgraded 2 PSP'S with TA-82 mother boards and running 3.03 firm with this downgrader no problems this downgrader works great!!

Im currently running firmware 2.5 and wondering if I should upgrade to 3.03 to downgrade or if there is a simpler more reliable downgrader for 2.5. I've been looking and noticed the one i saw for 2.5/2.6 needs downdater files obtained from a psp running 1.5 which cant be posted here. Just curiouse if these files are needed for the 3.03 downgrader as well. If you could respond to mrlore420@hotma il.com I would appreciate it.
Hi, I used this downgrader on a TA-082 2.81 PSP and I sucessfully now have 1.5 however, it wont play any UMD discs.... and at first power on I get the message 'To start you must update your system software'. Does anyone know what I need to do?

Had a really bad bricking scare, had sound but no picture. But then whenever i plugged in and unplugged the power cable it would work again for a few minutes. Upgraded to 3.03 OE-C and now it works a treat :-D

i am at step 7 but there is no xyz update just a corrupted file. i suppose this is because of step 3.

during step 3 i renamed and copyed the file to the UPDATE folder but there was no EBOOT.PBP in the folder to even overwrite. is there supposed to be an eboot in there? if so where does it come from? it doesn't say in the instructions. someone please help.
