2.80 Decrypter Released! *Update* |

Mathieulh stopped by our forums to tell us that a new version of psardumper (modded by Dark_Alex to dump 2.80 files) is available. Dark_Alex modded psardumper for 2.80 which was originally created/coded by psppet. This psardumper will dump reboot.bin and other necessary 2.80 files for devhook emulation!This is quite some exciting news as it has been quite some time since 2.80 has been released and many have been anxiously awaiting this day. The only thing that remains for us to wait on is an update to devhook that will allow us to emulate 2.80! So, now that we have the files extracted/dumped, it is only a matter of time before we are emulating this precious firmware on our 1.50 firmware with devhook!
To install, extract the data.psar (we suggest using PBP Unpacker) and place it in the root of your memory stick (data.psar). After this is done, make sure you have the decrypter/dumper file in the correct folder (PSP/Game) and execute it on your PSP. The program will then dump/decrypt the necessary files onto your memory stick. This program is legal, however the files dumped using it are protected under copyright laws - so do not distribute them!
UPDATE: As you all might have probably heard, 2.81 is out today. Bad news? Nah. Because we've just found out that the 2.80 decrypter works on 2.81. What good does that do for us? Well it could only mean that Sony's newest baby may soon be emulated via DevHook!

since you already have the decrypted files, why not just use the fw installer like in previous versions, or the same method as 2.71 since we had to get this decrypted crap then too

all that news about booster and devhook was blown way out of proportion. Anyway, Dark_AleX is one step closer to psp homebrew god (if he isn't there already) although he should have waited for the next sony FW release so we could dump that too. If Sony actually had Booster in any legal problems you would hear about it.

all i want is a 2.80 emulator
i just want to make sure i have all the files. the size of the files is 27.9 mb and 28.5 mb size on disk. note these are on my computer and not on my psp memory stick. so they are smaller than what the size would be on the psp memory stick.
question if i use the decrypted files with dev hook .46 using 2.71 will it emulate 2.80?

I guess we will all be able to use more common programs to export our videos like Adobe Premiere and others (thanks to the new codecs found in 2.80).
Other than that, they also fixed some issues concerning the Flash Player in the web browser for larger .swf files. Should proove somewhat usefull...

PS: Everyone, go and download the "guimod v3_3" ... the best mod for devhook up to me. It comes with a USB host to execute your ISO's straight off of your PC easialy and a understandable menu to use ... noobs or not its worth it!

even though i dont use the mod for isos. it makes the menu so much nicer to look at. It also in my oppinion is easier to use.
if u have a mac u can use something called stuffit expander. they have a free expander u can download. stuffit.com

i was so freakin dumb to update to 2.8 a week ago because i thought there would never be a 2.71 DGer now i effin regret now the only kernels ill be seeing is the ones in my popcorn bag, unless dark_alex can work miracles. im typing this from my psp so it took me like 10 mins! u can do it HACKERS!!!!
some games require you to update to 2.80.
You do realize people might want to load their OWN 2.8 UMD's once they are required to....

I'm confused about the two things going on right now. Does this mean people with 2.8 are getting one step closer to being able to emulate the way 1.5 machines do? Or does this mean people with 1.5 machines are one step closer to being able to emulate 2.8?
I have a native FW2.6 mixed with the IC1003 so I'm dying here. 0okm looks like he's close though. Im hoping the new working eLoader 0.98 will be able run a devhook that will run on 2.6.

LOL - if you dont know what you are talking about, why worry about it? IC1003 is apparently inscribed on the mainboard of __ALL__ psp's, some place or another.
TA-082 is the revision of PSP mainboard that is currently not able to be donwgraded (easily, at any rate) or chipped with currently available chips.
last time 2.7 and 2.71 were Decrypted the same way so will 2.8 and 2.81 be Decrypted the same way ?? so it shouldn't be a problame about the gta 2.81 thing
there is a guy named Ookum I think and he is somewhere close but it's very tricky and it might tale some time, be patient it'll pay off

No... This will allow EMULATION of firmware 2.8/2.81. This meens that u can hav 1.5 and still play games that require 2.8 firmware. And if u want to play homebrew again... u go back to 1.5 with a full reboot (like devhook)

Saying that this brings us one step closer to a 2.8 downgrader, is like saying that finding a house key on the ground has brought you that much closer to owning a house.

After they have decrypted 2.8 i think it will be possible to make a 2.8 downgrader.And after 2.81 is decrypted too, Every firmware will be downgradeble !!!
the only reason why 2.81 decryper werks is cause sony was dum and didnt see the 2.8 decrypter that just got released and left it open haha
Good thing for all of those that gave-up hope for the homebrew community when several "misleaded" people decided to create rumours about the ending of homebrew after the upgrade to 2.70. Emulation of 2.80? Would be amazing good work DEV community keep going!

Lol they rushed this little update and ended up forgetting to patch it to make it non-decryptable (at least with the current tool). Sony probably makes their programmers stay up all night until they finish the +0.1 security fix or threatens to fire them; all that for the sake of preventing 5% of PSP owners from playing Yoshi's Island on their PSP, lol.

So do you put the src file in the directory, the psar_dump2 and psar_dump2% in the game folder and execute? How do you run it with PBP unpacker? Can someone post a tutorial? I just ran the program, it said PSP, and then it just turned off. Is that supposed to happen?

psar_dump2 and psar_dump2% are to be put in the game folder as they are nessecary for the program to run on 1.5 psp (you do have 1.5 right?)
src stands for source. dont touch that folder or move it to the psp. its the source code and absolutely useless unless you are a developer
but what about the whole pbp program thing? I have 2.8, and I put the two folders in to the game folder. On the psp, it shows the application and a corrupted file. When I run it, it says psp and turns off. Is that right?

No well made description. The file data.psar is not in the download zip. Will you provide is with more detail in your description and how about the correct files?
This just lets you decrypt the 2.81 fw. If you don't know anything about coding, I only knowing a little of everything, you probably don't have any use of this. NOWHERE in the article does it say --You can downgrade 2.81 ppl-- or anything similar to that, and if this was the purpose of this program then the first thing you would read would be DOWNGRADER.
decrypting the firmware lets developers see how the psp's firmware works ( I think, that what it pretty much is right??)
with that info people can make things to EMULATE 2.81 and play all the games that require 2.81 firmware on the oh so sweet 1.5 psp. This lets 1.5 users play with OTHER emulators and/or homebrew, letting them do just about everything availiable to the PSP. Does this mean that the 2.81 firmwares could be downgraded? maybe. but downgraders don't come out everyday, and usually takes awhile for one.
why many (and I) think that people with 2.81 currently don't need a downgrader is because of a few reasons
1 - The person with the 2.81 upgraded, knowing that they have almost no chance of ever playing homebrew again, but for some strange reason they want to come back (aka idiots).
2 - the person just currently got their psp and it might've came with a 2.81 fw. THe numbers here are so low nobody really should care (except the person WITH the 2.81). I might guess that not even 1% of people who know about the homebrew scene got into this situation.
3 - 2.81 is going to be emulated anyways, sooner or later, so why waste time on a downgrader? That is what I and many think or say, and there is logic behind this. if people are using (wasting) time on a downgrader, it won't impact as much people then if the same person made a SWEET homebrew app/game.
Now that doesn't mean that downgraders are bad. I upgraded to the 2.0 when i had my 1.5 because i heard only 1.0 can play homebrew (i've been in the "scene" for a while). Then 1.5 was homebrew-able a few days later. I was so pissed and thought that it was now official that i cant play homebrew, and went straight to 2.6. Then, once again i think, 2.00 was downgrade-able. After that I kept hold of my 2.6 psp, always hoping for a downgrader until it came, and many were grateful. after that it seems that if you upgraded further you are doing it because you abandoned homebrew from your life, and if you ask for homebrew again, you wont get homebrew. But still another downgrader came, this time to the 2.7 ppl. This should have split the line between people who wanted homebrew, and people who didn't. So asking for a downgrader is stupid. just wait and it MIGHT come.......MIGHT.
here has actually hve devhook with 2.8, if so can you tell me how and does this dl link have all files?
the 2.81 decryption might lead to a 2.82 but probably not
what the heck does the decrypter do?
The question is, who is brave enough to update devhook so that it can emulate 2.80 and maybe 2.81?
just release devhook without the illegal files, and obtain them from a dump preformed on your own psp
not illegal as far as i know, but it may be hard to make the dumped files compatible with earlier devhook versions
im thinking it would need to have the source completely reworked so that may not be very logical
so... torrents!
over at maxconsole forums there is an article bout how the 2.81 reboot.bin has a new security measure. sooo is this true i m starting to hear people say that.

i think who ever made the "DECRYPTER" (not downgrader for you noobz) would have noticed any such security measures and mentioned it or them (probably)

Why haven't there been successful eboot loaders for anything higher than 2.0? Can't this exploit theoretically be used to actually run a homebrew without downgrading?
THERE IS AN ELOADER FOR VERSION 2.0 TO 2.6 (eloader 0.98)its a tiff exploit, but i havnt tried that one yet and dont know its compatability issues

A: upgraded to 2.8+ because they thought flash would be cool or something
and
B: are upgraded to 2.8 because of some *****(s) who upgraded for them
these people are known as black people in this situation
basically, because everyone is doing it, people feel ok about bashing, insulting, and generally being rude to people with 2.8, simply because there is no consequence to doing it.
