2.71 TA-082 Firmware PSP's Now Able to Downgrade! |

Just when you thought Santa (Dark_Alex) couldn't surprise us with anymore presents for this holiday season, he has! We have a downgrader from Dark_Alex with the help of Mathieulh (right-hand man) and Harleyg. Just today it was announced that 2.71 PSPs running Dark_Alex's HEN-D will be able to downgrade their PSPs to a lower firmware (1.50) with this new program.Unlike previous downdaters that require 1.50 helper files (illegal to distribute), this downgrader uses the raw 1.50 update file which is not illegal to distribute, so this process is much easier than previous downdaters released by Dark_Alex.
This program is specifically designed for 2.71 HEN-D users with a TA-082 motherboard. HEN-D, which enables 2.71 users to execute homebrew via the XMB, will be required for this downgrade process, and if you do not have it you can download it at the link provided below. Dark_Alex has also provided a detailed installation of this process detailed in the readme (please read the readme after you download).
- Copy the UPDATE and idstoragechange folders into /PSP/GAME/
- Get the official sony 1.50 eboot and put it in the /PSP/GAME/UPDATE folder with the name of UPDATE.PBP
- Run HEN-D if you are not already running it.
- Execute the idstoragechange. It needs 75% battery. It will change some keyes of your idstorage needed to downgrade the ta-082.
- The program will exit to the XMB. Now execute the generic downgrade, which will show in the xmb as "Update X.YX" in the psp language.
- The generic downgrader will also need 75% battery. IT will downgrade your psp to 1.50.
- At the end, it will ask you to press X to restart the psp. Do it.
- If all went fine, you'll receive a blue screen telling you to press O. Do it, and reenter your settings. Welcome to 1.50.
- If things didn't go that fine, you'll have a non-functional psp, aka brick.

Now i´m really lost ... i have a psp but can´t tell what board it has someone gently posted a pic to identify your board saying that if you get IC6001 it´s not a TA-082 but if you get 1300IC on the other side it is a TA-082 now my problem is that my psp has both those numbers on one side IC6001 the other 1003IC or something ... anyone can share some light over this plz ?
It isn't that hard to DG TA-082's to FW 2.50 I think so once an exploit is found on 2.81, you'll be able to DG to 2.50 pretty soon and then upgrade to 2.71 then DG to 1.50... then upgrade to 3.02 OE... wow that's gonna take a while :/

Ok i just did this to my friend's PSP and after the blue screen at the end of the process the screen went black...i could hear the startup sound and everything but no picture i could move the d-pad and hear the clicks from movin around in the menu but i couldnt see it... in case any1 gets a similar error...dotn freak out...press the screen button and all is well

Thanks, this is truly amazing. I have one question. I have been emulating firmware 1.50 on my TA-082 with HENC and devhook, then I started emulating 3.01 using HEND and devhook .51--have I done anything to my flash that might make this downgrade/upgrade dangerous?

ok I just downgraded my friend PSP to 1.5 and upgraded him to 3.02 OE-B with no probs thanx so much Dark_Alex, Mathieulh, and Harleyg
i just downgraded my friends PSP to 1.5 and back up to 3.02 OE-B and looking back I forgot to remove the devhook files but everything seems to be fine
how can you tell the difference between TA-082 and the other TA- motherboards or will this work on all of them?
BTW if you visit his site he has already updated the file becouse of a glich in the hack i hope pspupdates has the newer one, don't want any bricked psp's becouse of slow coverage....
my buddy has a TA-082 or 86 i can't tell, i think i'll wait a day or to before i tell him about this just to make sure everything works. i don't want to be responsible for bricking his psp.

Trust me I am a BRICK PARANOID. I took me a while to get through this but i did it. And I am proud to say this downgrader is spectaclur. If you follow the directions press X cross your fingers everything will go smoothly. TRUST ME IT IS AMAZING. I have a feeling this will have a 100% success rate!!!!!!!

Stop freaking out! Open the HEN-D folder and go into the MSROOT folder and copy everything there directly into your PSP's Root. So I copy the files PSP,h,patch and so forth to my G:\ . Honestly if you do not understand how to do this rite now don't try. Read up on some more forums and don't blame me if u mess up.

well you finnally made ta-082 ppls welcome t o the goodlife just dont brick your ***** in the process of doing it
instructions
- Copy all contents inside MS_ROOT to the root of your memory stick.
- Go to the PHOTO viewer of the XMB and enter in the folder "HEN".
- If the psp just freeze, reboot your psp and try again. Currently the tiff is very unstable and it
is only executed sometimes. I'll try to improve that in the future.
- The first time you run the program, you will see quickly a blue screen, and after that a screen
that can be of two colors:
* Red: the files couldn't be written to the flash (it hapens a few times). Just keep trying.
* Green: The files were written succesfully. After that, the xmb will be rebooted. Now you can run
the homebrew in format prepared for 2.71. (see details below).
- As mentioned before, the patch will remain resident in memory, and even entering sleep mode
won't delete it. Only a hardware reset will remove the program from memory.
- When you do a hardware reset, you'll have to run the tiff again.
This time there won't be green or red screen, just a blue screen and xmb reboot, since
this time there is no need to write to the flash.
Note: the files pspbtknf.txt, pspbtknf_game.txt, pspbtknf_update r, and systemctrl.prx in the root
of the memory stick are only needed the first time the program is executed. After that you
can delete those. However, don't delete patch.bin, h.bin and the folder with the tiff, since
you will need those the next time you do a hard reset and want to run the program again.
Note2: Once the program is loaded, it is independant of the memory stick contents. So you can
freely swap memory sticks.

Seriously, both men have done tremendous things for teh homebrew scene. Just because 0okm didn't create this downgrader doesn't mean he is any less of a great person.
P.S., I'd also like to thank everyone involved with making this downgrader. I just used it and didn't brick, and am now looking at a 1.5 PSP. Thank you all.
There has been at least 3 confirmations of this throughout these ol' hills of comments...I'd give you the green light pal. And from someone who has OE-B and FF Tactics and Metal Gear Solid runnign on it...it's totally worth the risk.

I just downgraded my son's TA-082 to 1.5, then 3.02A, the the 3.02B update. All ran with no problems!

I do hope that now 0okm stops holding hacks to make money and sell downgraded TA-082 on ebay, I doubt he ever will though, a shame for all of us.

This is unbelievable!
My story begins with a psp with firmware 2,5 and then I discovered Homebrew/iso and hacks but still updated to 2,6 to play my game that i bhought.. Then updating to 2,71 for stupid locoroco.. Then AGAIN updating to 2,8 cus of some other games.. But I stayed there, didnt updated.. Waited and waited and finally a 2,8 downgrader gets out! I couldnt wait it took 1min and I was allready downgrading.. Saw the incredible 3,02 oe-a and installed it.. ALL THANKX TO DARK_ALEX!! He has made almost all the downgraders out there..! and even more.. I even thought he worked at Sony! could someone tell me if he does? Anyway hes a really good coder and I hope he still continue.. And Dark_alex enjoy your life everyone loves you!

I was on firmware 1.5 for a looong time. Then I was on Custom 1.5.
Then I upgraded to DaX's 2.71 SE's, and the 3.02 OE's.
Best decision i've ever made on my PSP. GO MAN. It's perfect and wonderful and 5,000,000,000x better then 1.5.

Hi every one. I am new to this world and i have one question. My psp is ta-082 but FW is 2.6. can i downgrade it with this method? what is the extra procedure if yes. i am w8ing for any answer that can help me.

just stick the 3.02 oe-a update in the same folder as
the official 3.02 update then run the 3.02 update and when its half way updating turn your psp off and then turn it back on. then your psp will start up and continue the update installing 3.02 oe-a files.

my cousin jus updated my 2.71 ta082 to 2.82 to play smackdown because it doesnt work with dev hook i just wanted to kill the creature. THE DAY AFTER it gets updated the downgrader comes out.IM SO FRIGGIN PISSED
I'm not sure, my good man...I don't think there is a downgrader for that specific situation...But dont take my word for it, there may be...Or you could just upDate it to 2.71 then run this!
Why do I make you sad? Because I'm not going to 3.02 OE-B yet? I want to, but I just want to know if the things that held back TA-082 from normally downgrading would also interfere with it going to a custom firmware.

i copied the stuff in msroot into my psp drive and replace everything then i went in the picture thing and tried the HEND thing and then i went to the little ps2 controller and did the TA082 IdStorage Change and it says that the game could not be started or something... can anyone please help me before i freak out like i did last time?
No man, I think it's cool that you don't want to upgrade yet, I used to be really cautious with my PSP too, just lately Ive done a lot of flashing to it and have gotten a little bit reckless with it...and its been kinda fun. Plus I really like the OE's.
Here's one confirmation that it will sucessfully send you to 1.5, so it's not fake, in case you were wondering. You'll probably need more confirms, but here's at least one.
yes you mobo is a TA-082, I had one before I brikced it long ago, but now am running on 3.02OE good luck on your PSP.

and quite frankly I could care less as long as he keep the PSP community happy.
Check your system settings to make sure HEN-D is running (firmware will be 2.71 HEN-D). If not, go to the HEND folder in Photos and start it up (using Start, or Triangle then Slideshow). If it freezes, just reboot your PSP. Once HEN-D is running, the IdStorage should work.

thinkin about it, if everythin is being rewriten by the generic downgrader, that means, we would have a full fledged 1.5 psp. Therefore, you could thoretically upgrade to 3.02 oe-b without any problems.... thats juss a thought tho....ill wait till sum1 answers...
This is what i did i copied the two folders into psp/game. Then i got the eboot which was compressed which you download it from the link above, and i changed then name of a the eboot to UPDATE.PBP and then i put it in the update folder and then i took all the files in MS_ROOT, copied it to the psp and then started the psp, went into the pictures thing, my screen went blue and then instantly changed to red stayed red for a while and then my psp turned off... i turned it on and went to the little ps2 controller and did the TAO82 IdStorage Change and it said "The game could not be started. (80020148)" and wtf do i do now!?!?! please someone help me with this!!!

i went to system settings and then i check the firmware it just said 2.71 even after i did it again it still said 2.71
I downgraded just fine. No problems.
I'm gonna get up to 3.02 OE-B now, I'll post on how it does

Are you sure HEN-D is loading? If it's sucessful, the blue screen (and green if it's the first boot) will show up, then after 3-4 seconds the screen will go black, and then your PSP will reboot. If that isn't what happens, just keep trying; I've had it take almost ten tries before it finally loaded normally. Just keep trying to load HEN-D untill it loads and reboots your PSP, then you should be good to go.

How do you know if your PSP is a TA-082 motherboard?
I have bought my PSP from Game not to long ago it came with v2.71 and has the number IC1003 on the motherbord, i think that is a TA-082 but not sure. i now have v3.03 :( but if it works on this version soon, will the downgrader work with my PSP motherboard?

I had reverse devhook n gpsp, capcom emulator and snes9x. therefore, homebrew is known by my dreaded mobo I call the ta-082

all we need is 2.80 TA 082 DOWNGRADE
You can only do this from 2.71 running Hen D... you should upgrade to 2.71, install Hen D, and when running Hen D follow the instructions given by Dark_Alex.
FirmWare 2.6 and TA-082... just got it for Christmas and want to go to 3.02 OEA and then B.... just want to hear from someone who succesfully did this and perhaps a step by step for a noob to PSP... I have a University Programming background however!

While I own an original 1.50 PSP (never updated) =), I just went out and purchased a new 2.71 TA-082 and attempted the downgrade...

sounds like you did installed it but you need to run it now.
power down the psp (until is completely off)
wait 10 sec (to be on the safe side)
start it up again (make sure no UMD in drive)
go to "hend" folder in "photo"
you should see a "BLUE" screen and then the psp will restart into the xmb
NOW, you are running hend...
now try to downgrade according to instructions

Update to 2.71 first and use as directed.
Although 1.5 is wonderful, I'm sure we're all waiting to see if 3.02 OE-B works. Excellent work from DAX as usual.

my t 82 came with 2.6 out of the box. just used the downgrader and updated to 3.02 oeb. i was told you could not go back to 1.5 using recovery mode. if that isn't possible what about a firmware that is 2.6 or higher. i know t 82s will accept firmware 2.5 or higher. I want to know just incase something goes wrong and i need to go back.

i have a ta082 and version 2.71, just bought my psp today, spent all day reading the facts and double and triple checked everything. followed the instructions in the readme to a T. i now have a version 1.5 psp, just one question... are there no theme settings and stuff for version 1.5 ? still a noob, a very careful one.

Is there any point in my case? I can use HenD and DevHook to emulate 1.5 so I can run emulators. That's all I really want to do, run PSP games, music, movies, and NES, SNES, Genesis, and N64 emulators and everything inbetween.
I guess I'm asking: is 1.5 or even that custom firmware so great that I should try it?

I put it in the update folder and xp asked me if i wanted to replace the original eboot.pbp file. (isnt that the xyz thing?), now, going back to the xmb, i lost the xyz thing and i only have the psp updates ver1.50, when i click it ,I get a "no need to update error''. So i guess my question now is where does the xyz eboot file go on the stick, both cant be in the same flder right? ANY comments will be GREATLY appreciated.---Eddie

Okay, so I got all the way to the downgrader part but when I try running that it says that it cannot find update.pbp when I already have it in the UPDATE folder. Was I supposed to replace the eboot.pbp that was already in the UPDATE folder when I copied that and idstoragechange into the GAME folder? It says to copy the 1.5 eboot into the update folder, so should I put it in replacing the one there and then rename it to UPDATE.pbp? This whole process is confusing and frustrating the **** out of me.

and i figured i should uninstall the autoboot to henc in order to install henD so when i uninstalled it, the psp rebooted and now when it tries to go to the xmb when it starts up it freezes. I've tried everything and can't get it to work. Games will run fine if they auto run from umd but it just won't go to the xmb.. any suggestions?
rename the 1.5 eboot to UPDATE *before* you put it in the folder.

That's actually what I did and when I ran the downgrader it still said it couldn't be found. So should the UPDATE folder have a EBOOT.pbp that's like 63 kb AND a UPGRADE.pbp that's like 13,575 kb?

This is a very important question which I think all TA-082 users need to know before they upgrade to 3.02 OE-B.
If OE-B recovery not compatible with TA-082, you cannot I repeat you CANNOT downgrade back to 1.50 or reflash the 3.02 OE-B if u semi-brick it at OE-B level.
Also I strongly believe that when n if OE-C comes out, maybe OE-B user need to reinstall all over again to update to OE-C. So my point here is, if you can't downgrade back, how to update to OE-C. Then you will stuck at OE-B for a long long time.
Please someone or more ppl answer my concern. We need more solid confirmation here.

BTW: If I do turn the system off, when I turn it back on do I have to rerun HEN-D or can I just run the downgrader?

I don't have a ta 082 but how does this work without the bootstrap to 1.50. DA said that they needed a bootstrap to 1.50 to downgrade to 1.50 and that the Ta-082 didn't have it. So does this install it somehow? Could someone explain 2 me about how this downgrader works thx in advance

could of swore i used recovery to get back to 1.5
maybe i was dreaming
each n every ta-082 ic1003 has certain unique id n is recognised only by itself. when attempt downgrading using previous method that bricked the psp, it's bcoz the method didn't hv idstorageshange r application.
Now with this new downgrader, it contains idstoragechange folder. 1st the idstoragechange r will change the ic1003 unique id to a more friendly version like the ta-079 n 081 model. after tat, ic-1003 will think tat itself is the ta-079 or 081 n so approve the 1.50 bootstrap thus allow the downgrade process.
Now the problem is after u upgrade to 3.02oe-b, will the unique id change? if i change, u cant downgrade back. so u will stuck in 3.02 oe-b for quite sometime.

it allows 3.02oe-b downgrade back to 1.50 without brick n upgrade n downgrade n upgrade multiple times. i dun have ta-082 but mine's a ta-081. so i can't test it myself.
Pls someone can confirm 3.02oe-b can downgrade back to 1.50 n reupgrade to 3.02oe-b or future oe-c.

It should be named "UPDATE.PBP".
Rename the 1.5 updater eboot to "UPDATE.PBP" in the folder I posted earlier. The eboot.pbp is the launcher file.

I have been reading through the post and i have'nt had a clear answer on if you could go back to lower firmware if something were to go wrong. I know that when you use the downgrader it changes the id storage number. The question is if it changes it permenatly for multiple upgrades and downgrades. Someone with a little more experince please answer.

i read few users confirmed 3.02oe-b can downgrade back to 1.50. so it seems the idstoragechange thing is a permanent fixer for ta-082. wat i mean is it fixes the ta082 unique id permanently to function like ta-079 or 081. so this is really free up all the curse of 082.
Wonderful news! I'm curious to know if this method will also work on the TA-086s (That is once they can be downgraded to 2.71 HEN-D. The TA-086s have 2.81 or above AFAIK).
it has been confirmed over at maxconsole.com that some guys over there said they successfully downgrade 3.02oe-b back to 1.50. so it means when using the idstoragechange to downgrade from 7.2 to 1.50, it set the id permanently n won't change.

the location free access is removed in 3.02 oe-b to free up some memory space for 1.50 subset. u will never make it work dude. it's done on purpose.
I already got the hint that he is making and fine tuning the 2.80 downgrader for ta-082 like u. just wait patiently and dun upgrade no matter what. happy waiting.

im sorry but i just want to know how. cause there is no reason for me to downgrade then upgrade since im using ta-082 2.71 hend-devhook 51-emulating fw 3.2. im enjoying playing iso's already. guess the ps games is the only catch from all of this. im not so sure though. please some one enlighten me...

i think you should have read all the read me's and facts first. cause i think the 3.02 oeb have some limitations such as the IR shell. it also does with the location free i think...

This is so i can sell this spare psp to the shops if i'm scrapped for cash.
in the ms:\psp\game\re covery\ folder put the 2.71 update.pbp instead of the 1.5 and then run this downgrade again

My guess is that you are trying to run the eLoader or something, but 1.50 doesn't have tiff support, therefore no tiff homebrew(launch ers) either, so you'll just have to go straight to the game menu
It could also be so that you have 1.00 homebrew (which I believe were compatible with eLoader and xLoader). On 1.50 you need Kxploited homebrews, btw just get IR Shell, from there you can start non Kxploited homebrew.

I went back to original 1.50, then back up to 2.71 SEc. I will probably stay there until I get the urge to play psx games.

Copy the folder into the root of the Memory stick. Goto the Picture folder and run HenD. Once it reboots goto game and Run the IDstorage changer, when that reboots then run the x.yz downgrader. When it restarts, Press O, It will restart.(If not, you have a brick). move the DATA.DXAR file from root of the psp into the /PSP/GAME/302oeflasher/. Then run the OE-A flasher. Finally, Once it restarts, goto game, and run the OE-B updater. Don't forget to restore to default settings, else X-Flash won't work. Only tested the network disable Icon, nothing else in X-Flash was tested by me. Happy Gaming, all credit goes to the creators:) (you better know who)

No I don't believe recovery mode works because the recovery mode rolls back to FW 1.5 which is still technically "unsupported" by TA-082 and won't install without the D_A downgrader. Though someone mentioned maybe it'd work if you replaced the 1.5 file with 2.71. Don't know about that though.

It works fine dude, I can confirm.
The other guy is talking in theory, but the IDChange allows the 1.5 subnet firmware to load 3.02 OE, it will work fine.
trust me i'm non ta-082 user. has been upgrading from 1.5>2.5>1.5>2.6>1.5>2.72>2.71Hen-D>1.5>2.8>1.5>2.71se-c>3.02se-a>3.02se-b.
all the file needed for the downgrading process can be deleted. no use anymore. u dun need to do the whole procedure again with the new memory stick.

So.. I got my psp from my fiance as a birthday present in July. It came out of the box with a TA-082 motherboard and 2.60 firmware. After doing some research on QJ, I found out I was pretty much screwed. Sure, there was the GTA exploit, but so what.. I couldn't run devhook. I knew I should never update though. So I waited, and waited. Then, HEN came out a few months ago for 2.71, and it was the biggest thing since sliced bread (for a TA-082 user) Running devhook was awesome. Last night, I come onto QJ, do some reading, and spend about 20-30 min making my PSP the best it can be. 2.71 to 1.50, 1.50 of 3.02 OE-A, 3.02 OE-A to OE-B. I couldn't believe it worked. I followed the instructions word for word, and everything worked like a charm. Thank you Dark_Alex & co., your work is very much appreciated by all of us TA-082 users who were successful in "upgrading"!

Another confirmation for those who are still afraid of whether this works: This IS the real deal. I originally had a 2.5 TA-82, upgraded to 2.6, then to 2.71 where I've been using HEN-D to run all of my homebrew. I was a little scared to try this, that's for sure, but I went ahead and used this to get to 1.5, and then upgraded to 3.2oe and then 3.2oe-B. Life has never been so good

So I did it right and when it restarted i got a black screen. But I heard noise and stuff when i moved the buttons around. I thought I had bricked the system when it was a simple you dumbass hit the light button to turn on the picture ;)

Even though i don't have TA-082, I think that DAX is THE BEST psp programmer arround. 0omk is good but he is an ass as he finds stuff but never shares the information. I am running 3.02 OE-B But this is still good for the TA-082 Owners. I am happy for you and hope that you don't brick your PSPs.

okay dude...this is what you do...on the topic page (where you read the article) there should be 3 blue links at the bottom, one will be a 1.5 update, hen-d, and idstorage...download all of them...then extract the 1.5 file and rename it to UPDATE.PBP, then run HEN-D, run the idstorage thing, then run the update, took me altogether about 2min it was really fast, most likely cuz 1.5 has LESS stuff than 2.71
you should have 100% battery AND the PSP plugged in...its taking precaution to make sure it doesnt brick, but atleast have 75%

I just did it and i'm so happy i'm the kind of person that is very afraid to mess with the flash because of the risks in bricking it. I used this easy installer because i didn't trust myself enough to place the files on my own, and it installs hend d automatically

You need to update to 2.71 then use the easy installer (mentioned a couple posts above) to install the files for you, then just follow the steps. It's very simple to do really!

i cant even tell you how many people's psp's ive downgraded, upgraded, fixed. and the whole time i was reluctent to buy one. so today i bought one from best buy. sadly it is a 2.81 ta-082. i just wasted 250 bucks. i won't even touch it now......... pointless. why? dammit why? i had just begun to soak all this psp knowledge up and suddenly i just dont give a ***** about it anymore. i guess all i can do i PRAY TO GOD that Dark_Alex will come up with something. christ i hope so or i give up on the whole scene :(
i bought my first psp a couple weeks ago, got home upgraded the 2.70 fw to 3.02 knowing nothing of the psp emu/hack/homebrew community assuming newer is better, then i find out (the next day), that i have a close to useless ta-082 that i cant downgrade. this gives me much hope for my friend and i as we sit here waiting for a 3.02 downgrader. hgis luckily isnt a ta-082. thanks DAX, youre the man!

What if I have a 2.50 ta-081 PSP? I want to play my killzone UMD, but it wants me to upgrade to 2.80.
The 1.5 downgrader works from 2.71.
My psp was a ta-082 2.50.
I dl the 2.71 and updated .
the down to 1.50
then to 3.02 0e A , then to oe b
I gave my psp 2.71 Ta-082 to have it downgraded, but It did not work and now I think its bricked. Its a black screen the green light comes on but no sound for it pwering up. To switch off the psp I have to hold the power button for 5 seconds before its switched off.
I then went a puchased a new motherboard 1.5 from Japan. I have the same problem. So either I have bought a bricked motherboard which I cannot test in another psp or there is another problem with it.
If any has experience the same problem, I look forward from hearing from you.

i have a 2.50 TA-082 and i am wondering if i could upgrade to 2.71 then downgrade to 1.5 with this program?
- The generic downgrader will also need 75% battery. IT will downgrade your psp to 1.50.
- At the end, it will ask you to press X to restart the psp. Do it.
- If all went fine, you'll receive a blue screen telling you to press O. Do it, and reenter your settings.

It shows the PSP thingie (Color splash thingie, that fades awat into blackness and it says it needs 75% battery, and then exits to the XMB???
When I check System settings, it says under firmware2.71 HEN-D.....
Its not bricked... Everythings fine.... WTF???
The program will exit to the XMB. Now execute the generic downgrade, which will show in the xmb
as "Update X.YX" in the psp language.

just wanted to confirm another success but I still might have to return mine...the umd quit working before I upgraded and figured I would try this out and it wouldn't matter if it didn't I still needed to return it.
I'm hoping that the 3.02 oe-b will play my backed up umd's without having one in the drive as then I really have no need for the umd drive anymore. Ok, I was VERY scared to try this, as I bought my PSP on-line, so if I bricked it, I couldn't get another one. I used the "easy" downloader and it worked perfectly.
I wrote down how I did it:
First I went here: http://ul59.rapidshare.com/files/9174187/2.71_TA-082_EASY_Downgrader_0.1_by_csfreakno1.zip and downloaded the file.
1. I then extracted the files to my hard drive.
2. I connected my PSP to my PC and backed up ALL my files off of my memory stick to my hard drive.
3. I formatted my memory stick.
4. I made sure I had a full 100% battery and pulled out the UMD disk that was in my UMD drive.
5. I connected my PSP to my PC
6. I ran 2.71_TA-082_-_1.50.exe from my hard drive
7. WinRAR self-extractor popped up, I made the destination folder my PSP's memory stick drive letter, mine is drive "J"
8. after all the files transferred over, I shut my PSP off fully by holding down the off button for 6 seconds.
9. upon the PSP rebooting I went to the photo menu in the PSP, then pressed "X" on the photo named HEND.
10. My PSP rebooted. DO NOT TRY TO DOWNGRADE YET! COMPLETLY TURN OFF THE PSP, THEN RUN 'HEND" again! (HEND is funny, you need to run it at least twice because the very first time it runs, it does something, I don't know what)
11. Once it reboots, then you can run the "idstoragechange ", once it runs, press X.
12. once the PSP reboots, you can run the "Update X.YX"
13. Once the update is done, you will get a blue error screen, just press "O"
14. that should be it
This is not an end all be all guide, some of the steps might not be clear. I am not liable if my instructions are wrong. That is the steps I used.
succesful downgrade from my noobish ass. Remember to do slideshow with hen d and not just go into the folder cause the idstorage and the downgrader cant launch without it even though it tells u that u got hen d.

This works 100% if you follow the directions. Downgraded my ta-082 to 1.5 Then upgraded 3.02OE-A then 3.02OE-B worked like a charm. Now it time to try 3.03OE-A.

ive hacked around 20 psp and have made over 500 psp's i did one more today, which was 2.71 and it took me 2 hours to do it, dont know why so long take 10 mins usually, but it downgraded perfectly well and im happy it didnt break, back to school on monday with the persons psp, and ill return home with £40

Thak you very much, after change two units at Walmart I finally saw where was the number IC1003 on the motherboard and I realize why I made 2 bricks.
Your guide help me a lot, and I would like to say to those that doesn't know where is the numbers: open de UMD, inside it close to the L bottom is the code for the mortherboard. If your Motherboard says IC1003 you have the TA-082 and you shoul use this guide.

Yes; the same thing is appearing on my screen. When I got to the step to run the downgrade, I noticed it was YZ instead of YX. Then, when I decided to run it, I got an message reading "Error decrypting DATA.psp." Then it returns to the XMB. Does anyone know what's wrong?

Believe it or not - I think Im the only person to have forgotten to copy the TXT files (that are needed the first time only) to the root.
I ran HEN-D - screen went RED, thought all was well, but now when I re-run it, the PSP powers off and will not load HEN-D into the memory hence I cant downgrade.
Ive waited SOOOO long for this and buggered it at the last minute.
I'm right in thinking its written to the firmware but not used / written to the missing TXT files so now there's no way I can downgrade?
Christ I feel so stupid! Ive tried everything - formatting the MS, returning to factory defaults, hard reset etc. etc. but its no good!!

Well, I followed the directions, and it borked my display. The screen now takes like 60 seconds to display, and whenever I press any button on the interface it, goes blank and starts all over again. This was a v2.71 with a TA-082 MB. Luckily, this is my second PSP, so I still have a 1.5 system.
Definitely try this at your own risk.
While I was busy breathing heavily, practicing the excuses I was planning to give the Walmart customer service guy when I took this unit back to exchange, I pulled the battery from the unit and let it set for a few minutes. When I put the battery back in, and powered up, the same behavior--it started blank, but the screen came on after about 60 seconds. Each time I pressed a navigation arrow, the screen went blank and started all over again. I continued trying to explain the reasons I was returning it to my yet-to-be-encountered customer service guy, and continued to pull the battery, let it set, and power it back on.
Eventually, the screen came on and stayed on!! I navigated to the System Info, and, low and behold, it's a 1.5 PSP!!! I installed a homebrew game, and it ran!!
Although my heart is still racing, my greatest and humblest thanks to Dark Alex for giving me another 1.5 PSP. You, sir, are the man. :)

whenever i try to run the downgrader i get an error reading "the game could not be started (80020148) did i brick my psp? i did everything word for word until this point please some1 help me out

I click on these to download and no window comes up for download?...it says on the site..cable 0.0 sec. to download?..Im confused because it say somewhere around 25,000 people have downloaded these files?...
I need them..I need to downgrade my psp..
please if you could send the link or files..to me in email or something that would be awesome..
