Dark Alex with help from Mathieulh and Yoshihiro from SonyXTeam have released the final version of their Sony PSP 2.5/2.6 firmware downgrader tool. The first public version of this tool (version 5 beta) came just a few days after the announcement of Kernel mode being unlocked and allowed many 2.5/2.6 users to downgrade their PSPs to the homebrew-happy firmware version 1.5.
We would all like to give our thanks to Hitchhikr and Team Neural for discovering the original exploit that made this all possible. We have seen several working and non-working betas over the past few days, and this final version of the downgrader makes it pretty much perfect and noob-proof. Many of our users have reported success in using the 2.5/2.6 downgrader called the 'downdater', including QJ's own Pranav T who downgraded his PSP from firmware 2.60 to 1.5, then upgraded to 2.0 before downgrading back to 1.5 again, just to test it out. The success rate for the beta downgrader was 93% according to our forum users which is a pretty high considering many people would have probably messed up the installation which caused the downgrader to be unstable. Although there is a risk of bricking, If you follow QJ's step-by-step procedure word for word your PSP should turn out fine on firmware 1.5.
The basic coding for this version hasn't changed since the v5 beta (as Dark_alex said, Don't fix something that isn't broken), and comes packaged in a fool proof single EBOOT that will detect which firmware version you are on (kindly done by Yoshihiro) and will automatically install the dumped firmware files which you must retrieve from someone with a 1.5 PSP. For legal reasons we cannot host the files here.
Before downgrading, make sure you meet the following requirements -
Your PSP is not a TA-082. This downgrader has you to be tested on a PSP with this type of motherboard. (If you do have this PSP version, it may result in a brick). [Find out if you have one!]
1.50 User Instructions
- Copy the folders downhelper and downhelper% from the folder 1.50 HELPER folder to /PSP/GAME/ in your memstick.
- Obtain the 1.50 update EBOOT and put it in /PSP/GAME/UPDATE in your memstick. You may find the 1.50 update in our download site here.
- Init the downhelper program.
- It will dump your flash and some files from the updater eboot to the memstick. (These files are illegal under US copyright laws, so please do not distribute them in the comments or on our forums)
- After that, the program will exit. You can now delete the updater from /PSP/GAME/UPDATE
- You'll notice that you have a new folder in the root of your memstick called "DOWNDATER".
- That's the folder you'll have to send to a 2.50/2.60 to let him test the downgrade.
- Copy the folder the DOWNGRADER/2.50/DOWNDATERTEST if you have 2.50 or DOWNGRADER/2.60/DOWNDATERTEST if you have 2.60 to /PSP/GAME/ in your memstick
- Wait someone with 1.50 to pass you a folder called DOWNDATER and copy it to the root of your memstick.
- Init GTA and the eLoader
- Connect your psp to the AC adaptor
- In the eLoader menu, choose the downdater test. WARNING: the program won't output any display and any warnings, it will init the downgrader process immediately.
- You'll see the your memstick flashing. That means that your psp is being flashed from the memstick.
- You won't see any type of output in the screen (this is for safety). When the memstick finishes flashing, the psp should reinit and you'll have probably a 1.50.
- It will probably say you "Cannot read disc". Don't worry about that, this is because the UMD device has not been reset properly. Simply restart the psp manually or take and the battery for 5-10 minutes and the problem will be solved.
- That's all. If all went right, you'll have 1.50. If it went less good, you'll still have 2.50/2.60. If all went wrong, you'll have a bricked psp (except in the case you have the modchip) Remember that you have accepted that risk.
- If your PSP is showing up as v2.01, this is fine. Just use Wab Version Changer and change it to v1.50.

(glad i could get all this in early before this thread gets out of hand) Wasnt sonyXteam basically Blacklisted by the PSP community at large because of their antics before. I mean mad props to them for their help at getting this thing of the ground. But they have had ZERO activity over the last several months, and the last time there was a downgrader and they tried to take credit for it they it led to them splitting away from almost the whole scene. So i am gonna call it, I bet in les then a week Yoshi and Math will start SOME kind of drama with Dark_Alex and then there will be a repeat of what happened before. OR.....They will start getting more donations and making HUGE claims liked they did before and never deliver. I guess all i really want to know was what was the extent of their 'help'. Mad props tho to EVERYONE involved. This is really a big step forward, I want 2.6 functionality with 1.5 flexiblity

for Devhook. this is a great day for homebrew but I cant help thinking what Sony will do next. I think that if you wanna play all the sweet homebrew(which i do) and new UMD games(also do) then the Modchip is going to do it for you. It would be sweet if you could get DevHook running the latest Firmwares but Sony cant keep fecking up missing exploits forever.

Does anyone know why the Ta-082 sucks so bad. No modchip, no downgrader. has anyone here with a ta-082 downgraded. Not like I can anyways since I was stupid and upgraded to 2.71 so I have to wait even longer if at all.

Very Noice they have sucessfully done what was thought to be almost impossible.. Its a pity though, the game dev's are going to be hit hard.... Remeber to keep buying games people!

You're not using the wrong case, the password is written wrong on the homepage it's I_Use_It_At_My_Own_Risk but on the homepage it appears as I_USE_AT_MY_OWN_RISK

So I've tried quite a few times to get the downgrader going but everytime I load it up from fanjita's thing my screen goes black for MAYBE 2 seconds then my screen comes on and says it can not load the disk. What can I do?
can this work from a 32mg stick??? once it is used, does it change anything on the memory stick and can it be used again without re-doing the directory structure and files on the stick? can someone confirm this plz?

I'm sure its been asked but I just want to make sure. On psp-hacks.com they have it posted that ones that came from the factory with 2.5/2.6 that it won't work and people say it will.. I currently have a 2.5 from the factory do I really need to upgrade to 2.6 and then downgrade? or do I just downgrade?

It depends on the motherboard. Please read the part that says "Your PSP is not a TA-082. This downgrader has you to be tested on a PSP with this type of motherboard. first your to lazy to read all the articles here on the top page cause all the answers are in there, also the differents between the beta and final version. And then you,re complaingin about someone drop his mail here to get the files, a little bit strange i guess. i think the only one annoying is you because you dont read the entire article, the guys asking for files cant find it here on qj,net and there right !!
Well, mine broke but it isn't a total brick. During the downgrade procedure the memory stick stopped flashing but it didn't reboot. I left it for a while and booted it myself. Now it comes up with the sony logo, plays half the tune and then shuts down. I guess this ones a dead one now. Interested to know if anyone else has actually used final version successfully.

i did it a while ago on pspcrazy but anyway worked well my psp is new it started out with 2.5 and is now a 1.5 yay i made a video but i dont want to post it cause it makes me seem gay but what ever yes im so happy
You should make sure when using the downgrader that you have the AC cable plugged in and that you have around 20-30mb space available on your memory card (this might have changed with final release).

you need fajita's and ditlew's eloader, go to www.noobs.eu for the latest version...install that...I'd advise you to test it with some other homebrew proggie first just to make sure its working...check ur inbox and read the readme for the downdater like a book... j0ey2069

emenus just a more stable background for the eloader, it shouldnt make a difference, install it if you want... PS: i'd edit ur email out of your other post if i was you

every1 thats downgrading is only gonna be 1.50...I don't know about you but I would prefer the Epsilon BIOS...1.5 homebrew capability with 2.71 advantages eg: faster browser, flash, etc...

What means "...copy the folder in to the root..." What means that because I saw a lot of answers: To copy the entire folder DOWNDATER ? or only the files and foders that are inside? 1. Direct on the memory stick? 2. in the MP_ROOT folder? 3. In the PSP folder? Please someone make light!!!

I let my friend browse the internet on my 1.5 psp, he didnt know anything. Well i checked back on him a while later and he replied, "good news! There was a new update so i got it!". He had no idea what he had just done... version 2.6. I thought all hope was lost, but HORRAY!

Yeah root is just te irst folder when u click on the removable drive, it is NOT MP_ROOT and it is NOT PSP... Oh and i had the exact same problem when i fist began to fiddlin with my PSP :)

OK i think i got it.. 1. The root folder (folder which contains the MP_ROOT and PSP folders) is where the DOWNDATER folder goes 2. PSP/GAME/DOWNDATERTEST is this all i need?

look all you need to do is go to psp-hacks.com and then download the final downgrader it will include the downdater folder which you put in the root of your psp and the eboot from the Version 2.5 or 2.6 wich ever you need and put it in the game folder.(it also includes the 1.5 helper which you dont need and even the source) if you do all of this right your garanteed to get a 1.5 .... althought i still have a question if the final has the patch that makes devhook to work because it didnt with the 5th beta

All emulators such as SNES, GBA, GBC, Neo Gen, N64 and Genesis. PSPRadio is okay but quite limit area as requested to Wifi Internet. PSPMod is best movie player around (subtitle SRT supported!!). Better than PSP's media player. Erm, there are millions of best homebrews just like you gotta for 2.5 or 2.6 but PLUS more and K-Mode.

it might be a long time before that happens...2.6->2.71 firmwares are encrypted by sony...but some devs are making some progress decrypting them...but i would just downgrade now, why wait for homebrew...u don't know what ur missing...! j0ey2069

pll that do not know what GTA or the eloader or even what the root of their memory stick is should not bother trying to downgrade...they'll prob end up bricking their psp becuase the downdater folder is in the wrong place or something... If kernel mode has been opened up for the 2.6 psp's why even downgrade. Yes you still have to youse the eloader but you can still play most current games and have kernel acceces homebrew.
It worked fine on my TA-082 so now I have 2 1.50 PSPs. Maybe it just dosnt work on some. I upgraded to 2.0 then back to 1.50 after. Shame it wont work on 2.70 too. Thanks Dark Alex your the best

Devhook won't work and gives an incorrect region code error regardless of what game UMD I use. Everything else works fine.

After you have downgraded your 2.6 Psp to 1.5. Upgrade it to 2.0, downgrade it again and the Devhook problem will vanish. It did for me anyway, gotta love it huh. Anyone else who has the Devhook problem, let me know if this fixes it. I was getting a UMD read error and incorrect region code in Devhook and I was using UMD games to run it too. Doing what I just described fixed it!!

I have IC6001,i downgrade mine last night w/beta version it works like a charm,as long as you follow all it said on the read me files you should be ok.
Before anyone starts, I'm not 100% certain this will work as I can't try it out for myself. I've figured out that when Updating the PSP does a simple check to find out if the version of Firmware your updating to is newer than the one you currently have. I've found that with a custom .PBP file with a higher Firmware version allows the PSP to start the Update/Downgrade.. Ie the PSP Playstation Portable Screen is shown. On doing so no Memory Stick light flashes, so this means that no activity is occuring, however just before the PSP Screen disappers then the Memory Stick light comes on. The trick here though is for people with 2 Memory Sticks is to load the customer .PBP firmware file onto 1 Stick and an Offical .PBP firmware onto the other Stick. When the PSP Screen appears switch Memory Sticks, and then fingures crossed the Offical Firmware will start the Downgrade process. Once again I'm not saying this will work, however like this new 2.60 downgrader there is no harm is trying... However again like always.. you do this at your own risk. I can't logically see why it won't work because you are using an offical firmware which has been signed by Sony in the process, and it's the offical firmware which will start the Upgrade/Downgrade if it works. Let us all know if someone can try this out if it works or not. Thank You.
The way to make the custom firmware .PBP is use PBP Unpacker and open the .SFO and change the last firmware number to 2.72. Then again use PBP Unpacker to repack the files and save as eboot.PBP

Well for those of you who are wondering how to load your 2.0+ games you have two options (tried all two myself) Your best bet devhook,which even emulates up to 2.5 version or you can simply update back to 2.6 then downgrade whenever you feel like it. also im sure within a few months well be able to emulate 2.6,and maybe even 2.7 with devhook

OK, I have AU 1002 PSP version which had factory 2.01. Upgraded from 2.01 to US 2.6, then downgraded to 1.50. Works fine. A very nervous moment while downgrading though. Now I can't play GTA as version is too low..Ha Ha.. Now working out how to spoof version number. Thanks to everyone who worked on this, you guys rock!
Works Great, thought i bricked my psp at first though as it automatically restarted but all was ok!
How stupid can you be? All it would take is for someone to remove one critical file from the firmware and when you try the downgrade it will brick. I just cannot believe the stupidity. Use your brain and go to a reputable website that hosts the full 2.6 downgrade package, this is what I did and I now have a perfectly downgraded and fully functioning 1.5 Psp. Asking people to email you 1.5 dumps is simply asking for trouble. You have been warned!! Also, if you actually bother to read through previous posts here you will notice that people have given a link where to download the full 2.6 downgrader package many times yet I still see people asking it to be emailed.

The final version should work on all motherboard versions including the TA-082. Looking for the ＲＥＡＬ ＦＩＮＡＬ ＶＥＲＳＩＯＮ！！
Now that you have a fully working 1.5 PSP, GTA won't run. Unless you load it by other means, such as devhook. If you have 32mb MS and want to run devhook, just run 2.5 update as per devhook instructions, skip 2.0. Works fine on my PSP.

OK...I don't see why not a TA-082 PSP can not be downgraded.... Sony changed a few things around with these PSP's but the flash:0 and flash:1 directory structure have to be the same as any other type motherboard PSP, otherwise they would have needed 2 seperate firmware update (2.7 and 2.71) eboots, one for normal PSP's and one for the TA-0082 PSP's. Now I didn't see Sony doing that, so to me that means the structure of the flash memory of a TA-082 is the EXACT same as the non TA-082 PSP... I think all this "it may result in a brick" stuff comes from the fact that the Undiluted Platinum modchip is not compatable with the TA-082 motherboard PSP's (which by the way is only because of a voltage differance, not flash memory structure) Above I have seen poeple say that they have successfully downdated TA-082's and I believe them, if I had a TA-082 I would downgrade because I really don't see why it shouldn't work...
My successfully downgraded PSP is EXACTLY A TA-082, cause there's a IC6001 inside the UMD hatch
Just on another note...I think that anyone who downgraded should upgrade to version 2.0 and them downgrade again using MPH's downgrader. Just for the simple fact that MAYBE this downgrader doesn't put everything that's supposed to be in the 1.5 flash there (because I've seen a lot of poeple saying devhook and other things aren't working properly). So at least if you upgrade->downgrade this way your sure to be getting the proper 1.5 install... j0ey2069

between these comments and the ones on the daxz**o site there seems to be a consensus that the TA-082 2.6 factory psp's can be downgraded just fine, not sure if im ready to take the jump with mine yet though :-P

I don't think that there is any difference at all and that this rumor comes from the fact that the modchip isn't compatable with the TA-082 motherboards...
Go to your local Wallmart, go up to the customer service desk and make up some crap about it not running UMDs right. Wallmart has this lovely return policy, even if you don't have proof of purchase they'll exchange any product for a new one (provided they have it in stock) You'll probably be given a 2.5/2.6 PSP. The reason TA-082 doesn't work is because the CPU checks for 1.5 fw, as there should NEVER be a TA-082 with a 1.5fw the PSP stops working if it gets a 1.5fw... It's a hardware check by sony and the downgrader DOESN'T work! idiots saying that it worked are just idiotic stupid kids trying to get ppl to brick their psp's... they didn't have to work hard for the psp... they idiot parents gave them everything as always - better ask mom where she gets the money instead of comming here and fu**-up the others psps. mine is no TA-082! ;)

It works like a charm. Had 2.01 (EU / gigapack), upgraded to 2.60 and now it's 1.50 (with 2.00 version ID :). Anyway, I almost pissed my pants when I saw "blue screen", though after pressing circle everything was fine. This should be mentioned in User Instructions.
to: #365 i have never heard any mention anywhere of the TA-082 motherboards having a 1.5 firmware check blacklist built into them, and if this is the case why wasnt it stated that it shouldnt be attempted that there is a 0% chance of succes on these, intead it says they have been untested and try at own risk, i have a ta-082 and i havent been brave enough to attempt it but im not ruling it out as a possibility

It still needs improving but I heavily doubt a TA-082 will ever be downgradable...Its pretty much impossible to bypass the security check...Those PSP's are designed to stop working if 1.5 firmware is detected... Right now the best thing a TA-082 user can do is trade in there PSP for an older one...

I still haven't downgraded because I really don't see any homebrew I want. I went to noobz.eu and don't see anything good. What homebrew makes the 1.5 worth it? I would love to find someplace with iso games. Even on my private torrent sites I don't see any....anyone want to email me with something good so I can downgrade? Don't want to downgrade if its not worth it. I know people will say its worth it, but why? Because the crappy things listed on noobz.eu don't look that great. SNES NES Genesis etc...not worth it....plenty of games in iso format, worth it....

To all the people saying it wont work because of a hardwear check, were are you getting this info from? I link would be good. Lots of people on this and other sites have said it works and noone has said it bricked because thay had a TA-082. Its only the modchip that dosnt work because of the diffrent voltages. The guide at the top of the page only says it hasnt been tested on TA-082 it dosnt say it wont work.

I downgraded back to 1.5 no problemo... Thing is dev hook wont play my locoroco umd and i don't see why i should fill my ms with an iso when i have the damn disc!! I also now cant play my imported densha de go umd.. So Ive stuck it backto 2.6 - i got a 1gig stick full of homebrew,emulators and videos and can play my games off the umds i got...can't see the point.. a 2.6 kernel hack i CAN see the point of..but until then i honestly can't see a reason to downgrade..maybe someone enlighten me if i'm being stupid but i reckon most people have downgraded so they can play loco roco iso cos it aint out yet in the USA..

Downgraded succesfully but I have demo umd vol.1 and not sampler umd, psp keeps asking me to upgrade everytime I boot so it can read demo umd... I got devhook041d working fine but my main concern is that I can't get daxziso62 to work, is it because the demo umd or settings have to be set on daxziso loading options?

i used the dongrader to go down from a original 2.60 to a 1.5 it all worked apart from it only took me to v2.0 and i`ve tried the mph donloader from there and i cant get it to work , when i goto photo in my psp it says there are no images any ideas ?? and yes i`ve followed the instructions :(

You can only downgrade if you have GTA. Eloader relies on a n exploit that is only available in that game. No GTA..no eloader..no eloader...no upgrade. Just go out and buy GTA, the upgrade will be more than worth it and you are supporting game developers.

Hey I put the downdater_final folder in the psp/game folder and I put the eboot in the main root folder where there main PSP and MP_Root folders are and I ran eloader and then the downdater_final and my screen went black and it was readin my memstick and then it quickly restarted and said cannot read disc, i restarted the psp and checked my version it still said 2.60, am i doing something wrong? It didnt work for me. i got all the files from catfishD. I put them in the right place and started eloader. The screen went blank, the MS flashed, but only for a second. I turned it back on and I still had 2.60.
could anyone explain the first step of downgrading the 2.6 firmare? It doesn't make any sense too me as far as putting the Dowgrader/2.6/downdatertest does that mean create a new folder named "DOWNGRADER" and put the "2.6"folder in the "GAME" folder? Or don't create the folder and just put the "2.6" folder in the "GAME" folder?
LISTEN: # Copy the folder the DOWNGRADER/2.50/DOWNDATERTEST if you have 2.50 or DOWNGRADER/2.60/DOWNDATERTEST if you have 2.60 to /PSP/GAME/ in your memstick That means download the downgrader then extract it and put the proper folder for whatever firmware into the GAME folder. That way, you can run it in the eloader. Wait someone with 1.50 to pass you a folder called DOWNDATER and copy it to the root of your memstick. YOU CAN DOWNLOAD THEM AT OTHER SITES! look around instead of crying here spewing out your email. When you do get it, the DOWNDATER folder MUST BE AT THE ROOT OF YOUR MEMORY STICK. That means it should be next to the folders MP_Root and PSP. Do the eloader thing and wait until your psp restarts itself.
I bet ppl will still com to qj.net but i bet websites that dont ban iso talk like p s p-hacks.com and p s2nfo.com will become a lot popular now... all those hypocrites who come to qj will are twitching to play 95% of the psp library

It is working. I restored the factory setting first. I formated the card. I copied the files. I installed eloader. Started with GTA. and ..... waiting. At the end : 1.5. Works perfect.

I did an update to 2.5 using the north america 2.5 update and then i downgraded using this, by F*** I was S****** myself when i I pressed the x button, psp went black screen, the ms flashed for a few minutes and then it went to the set up screen, YEESSSSSSSSSS it is the dogs Bo****ks. i dont have a psp with 1.5 to do the first part. i have downloaded "downdater_final" and can see some folders.. among them is "downdater" which contains an eBoot file. However that file is much smaller than the original 1.5 file. I kinda need some directions on the first part here. The filesizes don't add up at all.

The SRC folder is only the Source code (SouRCe) for anyone wanting to check the code of the downgrader. DO NOT DO ANYTHING with that folder if you don't know what it is. PSPUPDATES should clarify this for the noobs. PS: I also never got the series of folders called : DOWNGRADER/2.60/DOWNDATERTEST All I've got was a folder named DOWNDATER_FINAL or something containing the EBOOT.pbp ... everything worked out but still unclear for newbies. peace :D

The teamxl downdater files DON'T brick your psp, apparently it IS firmware 1.5, only it tells you it's 2.71. I haven't tested homebrew yet, but my ridge racer umd seems to work fine!

I read a lot of comments about success stories about downgrade a TA-082 and also I read failure stories. If anyone have been succeded with this scenario please share their experience. It's seems that some TA-082 support this process and some others don't but maybe sharing information we can find a way to check this. And no one say again that TA-082 is not able to downgrade, because 1 week ago says same thing about downgrade a 2.6 firmware and look now....If we put some order in this information maybe we will give useful information to all people having a TA-082 motherboard. Don't you think? I think is the minimum effort to do in response of what we have in our hands.

I'd like to test this and see if it works ( pretty sure it'll work ,since I had mine since the day the PSP was first released). Although I don't think I'll go plastering my e-mail addy all over the internet :P. Someone should come up with a mock homebrew {wink wink ;-)} that has the files in a read me file for those who don't know anybody with a 1.5 PSP :D . Just a thought :-)

Just downdraded my psp. Mem was flashing and it rebooted by itself, then a german langauge info display but after around 20 seconds it restarted by itself again and lastly the Cannot read UMD message then I restarted it myself. After all that, my psp is is officially 1.50 baby !!! Toronto Rocks!

I've downgraded my psp it works just fine but the daxziso loader(last version) program runs only the "nfs most wanted" others are not working. I checked these no working games on my frend's psp and they are all working. Your PSP CANNOT be a factory 2.50/2.60 PSP! It had to have been updated once before from a previous version or the downgrader will not work, thus a brick! IS THIS TRUE!? =( WHAT CAN I DO?

Its a good thing I downgraded, my GTA LCS just fell on the floor, the plastic is broken on the UMD, and the disc is all scratched because the floor was full of pebbles
I have just downgraded from 2.5 to 1.5 using 'Easy 2.50/2.60 Downgrader' http://www.psp-hacks.com/2006/07/04/easy-250260-downgrader-released/ Easy 2.50/2.60 Downgrader includes EVERYTHING you need. All you need to do, is find out if your PSP is compatible. The prog holds your hand EVERY step of the way, it's scary as fook, but you can't go wrong. If you don't know what to do next, just click next on the prog, and you will know where you are :) I had a UK factory 2.5 with no markings on the mobo. Those posts at the bottom are by me 'Spanky' Bring on the home brew *cough*ISO's*cough :p hope this helps :)

This Topic isn't about a fake 2.7 downgrader. (Gibby) It's about the 1.5 - 1.0 downgrader. I don't see the point right now because no one has made a custom firmware yet. I bought a JAP ceramic white psp in december. Factory firmware 2.5. I updated ti 2.6 a couple of months back. Ran the downdater - worked great. Was half expecting to see the Mem stick light go off, but it didnt. Went straight through just like the video. Thanks to everyone involved, i can use more homebrew than ever :)

Well, to you all asking question about factory 2.50 downgradeability... I had done it. Part number is XXXX-PSP1003 :) Bought in Asia with stock 2.50. Downgrade successfull to 1.50. Woohoo. NO, it will NOT work with Ridge Racer since it doesn't have any weakness/exploit in it. There's a certain flaw in security when loading a saved game in GTA:LCS. This has been used for creating ECCD and eLoaders. But will there be a eLoader with full kernel support, or do you have to downgrade? There's no use in that for me... not really. Starting homebrew from GTA instead of the XMB doesn't hurt that much if I'll be able to keep the browser, RSS and so on. Anyway, I'll definitely wait for more developing progress before mucking about with my flash0!

Ok, my psp DOESNT charge straight from the ac mains so i have an external desktop battery charger for my psp battery. MY psp is running firmware 2.6 and I would love to downgrade this peice of poo poo in to something that would get more use then it is now. I have a black v.2.60 PSP, and it doesn't say 'IC1OO3' where it should, but on the other side of the top, on the other green bit, the letters 'IC6001' are there, upside-down... To 661: Upgrade the firmware to 2.6 then run the downgrader, everyhing will be fine. To 662: *****ing google for it. There are pleny of guides for programs like DEVHOOK To 663: Mine has that same code and i was able to downgrade it to 1.5. It was originary a 2.01 ... though... so.... as they say do it at your own risk but well, i had to upgrade to 2.6 and then i ran the downgrader. If you did tha same this should do the trick

Im sure you noted you need to run this with GTA:LCS. Im sure you knew just going to it in the mem stick and hitting X wasnt going to load it.

I'm pretty sure you need a bought one. Ifyou don't have it, buy it. It's worth it. And for people wo don't know how eloaders work, and those who don't even know what the root of a memorystick is, DONT DOWNGRADE! you'll end up with a bick for being stupid. Oh, and a brick, for those who don't even know what THAT is, is a superdead PSP that wont even start. That's the risks you're taking, and that's also why the archive is protected with a "I use it at my own risk" password. Get basic info first. There are tons of guides at forums.qj.net.

The PSP isnt region locked to games, so any version, US/JAP/EU should be fine. You can find the WHOLE downdater (with 1.5 firmware flash) on psp-hacks. Install the DOWNDATER folder to the root of the memstick, then copy DOWNDATERTEST to PSP/GAME. You need the ORIGINAL GTA:LCS to boot the eloader to start the flash. You can find the eloader program at www.noobz.eu - there is a windws installer that sorts it all out for you even if you dont knw what to do.All f you who are asking if you can use a 'homebrew' version of GTA:LCS - If you can already play a copied version of GTA then you dont need to flash!!

Okay My PSP says version 13.37, I cant play games because it says im not updated but when I go to update it says latest version installed no need to update! I'm sure this has been said further up but... Ìf your PSP already plays ISO's you don't need to downgrade because it must already be a 1.5.
seriously, as of yet I don't believe there are any factory 2.7 psps out there yet, so if you upgraded to 2.70 or 2.71, and then you come here begging for a downgrader, YOU ARE A *****ING MORON, YOU DON't DESERVE HOMEBREW. THERE WILL NEVER BE A DOWNGRADER FOR 2.70 or 2.71 or anything. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE BECUASe now the GTA exploit has been patched, which means no eLoader or CheatDevice. The only way to get homebrew running is to find an exploit, and I doubt that it is going to happen. Of course, I do have sympathy for TA-082 users though. They do deserve homebrew (but not if they upgraded beyond 2.6)

Why in the instructions does it say to put the downgrader eboot in a folder it doesnt have in the rar file? Should i just copy the "DOWNDATER FINAL AUTO EBOOT" folder with the eboot in it and put the downdater files in the root?

Well I have tried the dump of 1.5 that is on psp hacks and I renamed the folder that the files were in to DOWNDATER... Then I attempted to downgrade, got the black screen for no more than 3 seconds then said "The disk cannot be read...". Then I manually shut it off with the power switch and then turned it back on and it said that I still had a 2.6... well what did I do wrong because I want to use the dump at psp-hacks so I dont have to give my e-mail out to the public. Okay, I have a TA-082. That in itself sucks, but so do these constant meaningless posts. I'm sure everyone is as frustrated with the whole TA-082 situation as I am, so let's try something: 1. Accept that this downdater is not an option, and don't even try it unless someone can prove (via video or something) that they have succesfully downdated one of these mobos. 2. Please stop asking, and please stop *****ing about people asking, both sides just let this one go until there's some actual news. 3. If you want to plead for something, plead with Fanjita or Ditlew or someone about using the kernel mode exploit without requiring the downdater. If enough people are bummed by this problem (or just don't wanna downdate), someone will fill the need, if they get time to work on it. I'm not saying spam these guys, just let them know that this need is relevant. Please!

I recently purchased the same thing u have a psp with 2.6 firmware and the ICI003 thing........ I bricked one took it back to the store for an exchange.... i bricked that one too....... i returned it...... the only psp's that are ICI003's are the ones that dont come in the value pack i know this because i got 2 and 4 of my friends have the same thing......return that psp cause its gonna get bricked and buy the value pack...... it might be 50 bucks more but at least u save all that money on the games thats how i look at it..... good luck

If the psp has a waranty on it u can break it.... short circuit it and get it exchanged and hope u odnt get a ta-082 but that would be my last resort..... u can use the gta method i heard its like a hassle but i dont think its that bad......... or u can buy a psp at a store value pack and then return it but with ur psp in the box.... ive done this with several items.........WARNING lol this is very risky if u get caught doign this u can get in mucho trouble............. like jailtime trouble but ive done it several times and never gotten caught......... good luck

can anyone help?? the thing is that i did all the things i was supposed to do. I put the 1.5 dump in my root and then i put the 2.60 folder in the game section. Then i put the eloader stuff where its suppose to be. I start the GFA and during the loading, it stops[the part where the old man is] and the screen turns black and it goes to the home, and IT KEEPS DOING THAT!!!!!!DAMN IT!!!!!!Is there someone who can tell me what im doing wrong??Is it because im putting the eloader stuff in the wrong place?? i put the loader095 and the other two files into the game section of my psp and i put the three folders into the saved game section of my psp. You bricked it, and also if it does say ic1003 that means it is a ta-082

To Mr. Moofe, you are a n00b tard. You were stupid enough to run the Easy Downgrader Lite (without the DOWNDATER files even) on a TA-082 PSP... and now you have a brick. There is nobody to blame except for yourself, so I guess you have to ask your rich dad to buy you another PSP, because now not even the Undiluted Platinum modchip can save you. I have a few ideas about a few things you can do with your bricked-and-unfixable PSP... 1. Sell the PSP for scrap parts on eBay 2. Smash the crap out of the PSP until it's a pile of rippy-bits 3. Lie to Sony and tell them that you ran out of power during a firmware upgrade, and then send it back (You will most definetly get another TA-082 PSP with firmware version 2.71 at the current moment though :( 4. Use your PSP... as a brick!!! Buy a *****load of Bricked PSPs and then make a castle out of them!! Or if your "rich dad" is short on cash, at least make a brick wall. Have fun with your $200 paperweight!!!

I am a PSP user who had a v2.01 PSP (non-TA-082). I upgraded to v2.6 before I learned about homebrew, and I'm lucky I did at that point because just a few days later they released the v2.70 upgrade... v2.6 is the end of the line for homebrew, v2.70 and up don't let you do jack *****. Upgrading to v2.70 is like locking yourself out and dropping the key down a storm drain. Back to the point... I was then kind of frustrated about me only being able to use the eLoader to run homebrews... but I was patient... and I never gave up hope, I never upgraded beyond v2.6, I always knew that the downgrader would come out. Then I heard the news about the first downgrader, the Downdater Test, the one that had a 0% success rate (100% brick rate). I waited until everyone else was stupid enough to brick their PSPs with untested software before I would budge a muscle to downgrade. Then the Downgrader Beta was released, which worked, and then the Final Downgrader Auto came out, but before downgrading at all, I consulted the QJ.net forums. A user named Deturbanator kindly provided me with a link to a forum that had all of the files ready to go. I used it, I was very nervous during the Downgrade process, and then from that point on, I became a happy v1.5 user. But then I heard reports of people who bricked their PSPs after downgrading from v2.5 or v2.6 while using X-Flash and PSPSet, so then it was suggested that it would be a whole lot safer to upgrade to v2.0 and then downgrade back again to v1.5 using the MPH Downgrader. I did so and now I'm rocking it with v1.5!!! :) Notice I didn't jump on the first boat to come, because unfortunately for the first jumpers, that boat was full of holes, so I waited for the safer one to come, and now I'm happy!!! A lesson to all of you n00bs, before you do anything dangerous, consult the forums for any questions (not this crappy Comments section, nobody answers these things) and watch all of the instructional videos on the net, from YouTube.com or PSPHacking101.com, and you will be a lot safer that way. And I don't mean to beat this dead horse, lol, but moofe, your PSP now shares a great likeness to Terri Schiavo (when she was still alive, after her coma in 1990) LOL!!!

Dude, you don't even need the 2.5-2.6 downgrader. Look up the MPH Downgrader for v2.0 to v1.5 in QJ.net or in Google.

Hi everybody... I just came from Japan and I was so excited with the used psp that I bought there for 90usd with 256mb memory stick, it was a good deal because in my country the cheaper PSP is 250usd. Well, I wanted to downgrade but I notice that it was a TA-082, so crap... I want to know when the first TA-082 came out because I look at the box and in the bar code section in only have a PSP-1000K with no letter and the first owner bought this unit in October 2005. Its a Japanese version with 2.5 firmware, I don´t know if its from factory or updated. I read that there were few TA-082 units but I have been checking so many forums and there are a lot of TA users so that give me hope that in a neer future we will have a solution. Again, they say 2.5+ was unhackable and now there is a downgrade... Please excuse my english, its not my native language.

I downloaded the no bock v0.97 eloader with self installer. It automatically installed everything into my psp memstick. But still once i load the GTALCS it will go into the game - location is St. Mark with $2470????? what did i do wrong???

I just bought a psp with 2.60 from factory firmware. I want to downgrade this psp and i am a newby. All i now is that if you have a Ic1003 it wont work because of the motherboard. But i have another mark behind de umd mechanism it says IC6001. So i dont have the IC1003 mark on the top corner. Can i downgrade it with de 2.60 to 1.5 downgrader exe file ?

I have the EXE I used myself personally from the forums, since the file was already taken down. This auto-installing EXE has all of the necessary files (i.e. it has the DOWNDATER Folder, and the PSP auto-loading FINAL version eBoot). All you need to do is install eLoader v0.97 Super Bock (the one that says eloader097_nocache.exe or something is the one that I used). DO NOT USE EMENU OR BIER D ASLAICE OR ANY OF THAT OTHER BULL S*H*I*T. Now if you believe I am some a*s*s*h*o*l*e who is just here to brick PSPs or who doesn't trust me, it's ok. You do not need to use my file. But it worked flawlessly for me, as I actualy used it. So don't blame me if it doesn't work. Remember that by downloading this file, YOU TAKE THE RISK!!! AND MAKE SURE YOU DON't HAVE A *****ING TA-082 Board, BECAUSE IT WILL BRICK WITH THE TA-082 BOARD!!!! I forgot to give yallz directions on how to use my downgrader exe... Before you start, FORMAT THE MEMORY STICK AND RESET THE SYSTEM SETTINGS TO DEFAULT SETTINGS. THis WILL PREVENT ANY ERRORS!!! DO THIS!!! Now on to the directions... First thing. Run it and unzip it into your psp directory where it's plugged in. (for example, if your PSP is located at L:\, unzip the files to L:\. 2nd thing. Run GTA (you need an unpatched UMD that has the v2.00 update on it) then load up the eLoader save. 3rd and final thing (make sure the cpu is set at 222 mhz at the eloader menu, then run the downgrader by pressing X or O.) After that, LET IT RUN UNTIL IT RESTARTS BY ITSELF. the directions given in the Easy Downgrader by Xtrusion are FALSE AND WRONG, AND WILL BRICK YOUR PSP IF YOU FOLLOW THEM. HE says to restart your PSP after a minute, BUT THAT WILL BRICK YOUR PSP!!!! IT WILL RESTART BY ITSELF!!!!!!! I can't stress this enough!!! THAT easy downgrader B*U*L*L*S*H*I*T needs to be taken down!!! It may take a while. But For me, it restarted after like 2 minutes. Then, It will give a data corrupt message. Press O. Then it will restart again (i think) and then it will tell you to set the time, name, etc. Then when you're done with all that, a UMD disc error will appear. Restart the PSP by holding the power switch all the way up for 10 seconds to shut it off. THen turn it on again and you'll have a 1.5 psp. After you're done with that, listen to this: I heard a bunch of bricking reports with people who downgraded from 2.6 to 1.5 and they run X-Flash or PSPset or any of that S*H*I*T, so it is a lot safer if you upgrade to 2.0 and then downgrade back to 1.5 using the MPH Downgrader. Then run it. (Initially it didn't work with me, so what I did was I just put some random JPG image that had a letter starting with A thru N (before O) and then it worked.) Now, your PSP should think it's a v1.0 PSP. Run the v1.5 Update file. It will give an error at 99% and give you a customer service code fffffffffffff or whatever. It's ok. Restart your PSP and then you will have a clean v1.5 PSP. I did that ***** and I didn't brick. Have Fun

on the instructions it says DOWNGRADER/2.60/DOWNDATERTEST if you have 2.60 to /PSP/GAME/ so would the directory on my mem stick look like /psp/game/downgrader/2.60/downdatertest or do they mean just the /downdatertest folder so it would look like /psp/game/downdatertest or would it be like something else? i just wanna make sure if it means copy just the /downdatertest folder of it it means copy the /downgrader folder with the other 2 folders under it ? OH AND THOSE WHO CAN'T GET THE PASSWORD WRITE, MAKE SURE UR COPY/PASTING IT RIGHT. COPY AND PASTE THE PASSWORD IN NOTEPAD FIRST AND MAKE SURE TO REMOVE ALL THE EXCESS SPACES AT THE END

How long does it take the whole process to write to your flash and downgrade? I ran the thing, and it seems to be taking far too long. The light continues to flash, so I have the feeling something is going wrong...
