Looks like PSP fans can get their tanks for free on some of the more recent firmwares. Freeplay gave us word of his unofficial upgrade for for the Liberty City Stories Cheat Device. This version should allow you to use the cheat device on different firmwares, from 2.00 to 3.03.
Here's what he told us:
I hacked version 1.0d of the LCS cheat device so that it uses save slot #9, which makes the exploit work on firmwares 2.71 through 3.03. This should make it possible to run the cheat device on all firmwares from 2.00 through 3.03. I've tested it on 2.00, 2.71, and 3.03, and it works on all of those. For some reason, 2.70 didn't work.
It works just like Edison Carter's original cheat device, so there shouldn't be any troubles with implementing the different cheats, much less installing it. Still, make sure you check the documentation so you can avoid any problems, alright?

I came up with the idea to do this using the fact that the last two saves weren't patched (thought of how the downgrader worked) but couldn't do it myself... Can I atleast have a little credit for the idea?

Plz get VCS prx working on 3.10
I live in europe but have the american version of the game (ULUS10041) and everything works except the cheat menu as well. I am actually on 3.10 OE-A' and am emulating 3.03 via devhook 0.52. I had the prx working fine, menu showed up and everything, now I try this, and everything works except the cheat menu. Also i assume you mean 3.10 OE about VCS prx. To get this working download devhook 0.52, devhook firmware installer and 3.03 eboot. Then get it all working, and add the prx and it will work.
what is this used for....can i downgrade3 with this(3.03) without using UMD...please dont laugh i am n00b
You cannot downgrade without the UMD. This thing is a cheating device, it gives people who have lcs things like hover cars.
this works with any gta lcs game right..nw version and versions right...

I made this last night. So, NO.
AFAIK there wasn't one made for the German version, and I can't guarantee that you can use this one for that.
The only thing that loads up for me is the save game with no cheats and all weapons in the garage.

No one can access the cheat menu! You should be able to open it by pressing L + Up, but it should automatically open just before the loading screen ends!!! Whats wrong? Has anyone got this working properly and on which GTA (UK, US, patched, unpatched)

if you read it, the savefile version only works with UNPATCHED GTA:LCS
Sooo... I can try to rename the dir to my version of GTA, and edit the SFO, and it maybe can work?
FreePlay from the forums fixed it to work with all firmwares up to 3.03 by using the last save file. And I admit I was wrong saying patched, that will not work, but 3.03 will.

What do you mean "add the prx"? What PRX is it, and where can I find it?
What firmware do you have? And which version of the game?

why not for psp 3.10
get the prx from cheatdevice.com. It should be called vcscheatdevice.prx. To install it place it in X:/dh/05/kd, then go to X:/dh/303/CFG and open psp(4 letters, forget what)_game_dh.txt and add the line /kd/vcscheatdevice.prx and a square box after the bit which says /kd/devhook.prx DEVHOOK# and the square box. If this is unclear, I can give you a link to a modified psp(4 letters)_game_d h.txt.
I wouldn't download it because I couldn't get the cheat menu up. So after looking a while, I found the official site and he released a PRX (plugin) that allows it to work perfectly. You can find it at the official site http://www.cheatdevice.com/gta/lcspsp.htm

the savegame has more things then the prx
I am using 3.03 through Devhook 0.52, and am on 3.10 OE-A'. I have used the prx through devhook with success but it has less stuff than the save file version. But the cheat menu doesn't work on 3.03!!! The button combo to press is L + Up but it should open just before the game finishes loading! Has anyone got this thing working???

Why are you talking about the "vcs" prx cheatdevice? Will that work with LCS? Oh yeah, and by the way, your method didn't work for me :(

I don't think this will ever work on 3.10 OE firmwares as the firmwares disallow GTA LCS hacks unless dark alex gives a feature to future custom firmwares that do allow for GTA LCA hacks to work.
OK, I downloaded the save files, put them in the SAVEDATA folder, and then I play the game, I was going to load one, but they weren't there! I'm using 3.03 OE-C.
just make nine saves and replace the contents
