Sony Computer Entertainment Europe may just have the thing for you camera buffs, having just announced the latest attachment to the Playstation Portable - the Go!Cam, to be released this May 16th in Europe and across all PAL territories.
So what does the Go!Cam offer? Plenty. For the retail price of €49.99(£34.99), the Go!Cam promises to "seamlessly converts the PSP into a portable, functional and fun camera." The camera itself can be made to change direction vertically, up to 180 degrees of 1.3 Megapixel video-capturing freedom, while an in-built microphone takes care of the audio-recording.
These features, working in tandem with the bundled Go!Edit software, enables owners to record, edit and save nearly two and a half hours of video or 40,000 photos - the numbers based whether or not you have a 4GB Memory Stick Pro Duo, of course.
YouTube enthusiasts should be delighted to find out that the Go!Edit software also allows direct PSP-to-Internet video uploading, which means if you've always wanted to show how you bob your head and sing along to Loco Roco's addictive theme song whenever you play it, there's no stopping you now.
The Go!Cam for the Playstation Portable will be released on May 16th with a retail price of €49.99 (about US$ 69).

1.3 megapixel... the best camera phones had that resolution 3 years ago. You can pick up a handset with the same camera for about £15 in shops right now. I'm not sure they should have even bothered to release it if they weren't going to improve on it...

Hmm, but where to buy it from, i haven't seen it listed in any online UK shops. I usually have my psp with me anyway, so it could be quite nice for the odd picture here and there. Though y digital camera I got years ago has 3 megapixels i believe :S

I'd get it because now it'd be in engilsh. I had to guess all the dam time with the other jap one. Plus Go! sounds alot better then chotto shot.......oh yeah I'd kinda lost mine when I moved in to my new apartment. So I kinda......need a new one lol
I've had one of these for like a year now. and theres no way they'd give you a 200 dollar memory stick with it unless you pay at least like 150 for the camera/mem stick package, on estimate if it even comes to be a package. yeah its a great camera, i'd reccomend it, you can use your psp for like everything now. yes, even a phone because a website has a VOiP service for psp, i just forgot whats it called. psp is ultimate.
I wonder if its possible to have a interconnector to extend the camera, afterall its a usb connection, you could have the psp in your pocket and have that as a spy camera on you hat or something, even better looking up skirts in a meeting ;) or anything really
Is it just me or this camera is just too pricey? The camera has only 1Mp, and yet it costs as much as some 3Mp stand alone digital cameras in the market.
really pointless accessory to me..i was excited about the psp camera ever since it was announced..and when i heard it was 1.3mp i thought bugger that! i have a phone with a 3.2mp camera...and i have that on me always...if the gocam was 3mp+ i would buy it asap..
That article does not mention anything about a 4giger coming with the camera.

It's just the european release of the Japanese Chotto Shot. PLEASE... Stop copying press releases, and do a little bit of research for a change.

It is the same as the Jap. version, but it will only work on a PAL system. BTW 1MP is all you need for a psp. You dont need a better one because it wont make much of a difference on a psp screen. It is already good. Have you even tried it? I agree, it is a bit pricey.
shut evry1 slagging this off, its gr8!!! yeah its onli 1.3 mega pixel but the psp's screen is hardly huge, the videos are designed to be viewed on the psp so its good quality on the psp, and its very cheap since it comes with umd software. and the biggest WOW is that SCE is releasing it in Europe b4 arerica even gets a sniff haha lol!!!

Just got the Chotto Shot package and it doesn't work on the PSP which is running 3.40 OE. Is there anyone else out there who has tried this setup? I'd like to find out whether the camera is bust or whether it's not supported in 3.40 OE. Also got the GPS addon, though nothing much supports it.
i just got the chotto shot from play-asia.com yesterday, and it works perfectly fine with my 3.40OE psp. it was tricky tho, when i first plugged it into the usb port, the psp wasnt recognizing it. iwould get the "not compatible" error. i think its cuz i tightened the screw on top too tight. i loosened the screw on top and now its works just fine. if that doesnt work for you, try a fresh reinstall of the custom fw. you can goto youtube and search "timmy0to0l" and you can see some vids ive upped for anyone that wants to see the quality of the cam.

you prolly got your camera prx disabled to save flash space.. try putting it back in and it will work on that firmware

true but im confused - is the video length at most 2 hours something or 15 seconds? the only reason this should be worth anything that high for a 1.3MP is that the video can take LONGER than just 15 seconds -.-
i read some sites and some said it had around 2.5 hours of video recording so is that 2.5 15 second videos? or that's the longest this one can record because if it's the longest it can record with a certain mem stick then it's totally worth it

I feel like getting this camera becuze the software is in english, but I already have chotto shot which is the same thing just jap version. O yea I too would like to see some homebrew apps for the camera. Id do it but I have no idea of how to code. I aint a newb either.
I'd be willing to pay for just the software or to import it. I have a bit of an internal conflict with downloading the software as I have homebrew. I perfectly could, but it would be wrong. But at the same time, the software is ONLY for the camera. People have the software only because of the camera and I have a camera. Bah, I'm calling Sony and seeing if they can't give me a price on just the software. I like having everything official.

Seeing as how Gamespot CHANGED the article from the original this version morning, I am not quite the "retard" your trying to make me out to be. If you actually went back and looked at the first page of comments for this article then you would notice the reaction to the fact that the story initially DID say the 4GB card came with it. Make stuff up? No, look to Gamespot, they simply had the story wrong. What little community this site has is truly sad...

I got a Chotto Shot for Christmas. I use it all the time and love every minute. I have 3.40 OE. I admit that I never use the Chotto Shot edit UMD. I just don’t have time to learn Japanese. I use the camera function in the firmware. It has plenty of configuration options including frame rate and white balance. I only use the maxim resolution. On a two gig memory stick I can fit 40 minutes of video. I like 30 frames per second but often kick it down to 15 for more recording time. I am glad that the UK version will be out soon. You folks will love it. It is a great family cam. You don’t need high-res to capture the memories. I just download the videos to my computer. They look great in media player. They are utube ready. The English version of edit is what I am looking forward too. I do wish there more applications, homebrew or otherwise that used the camera, like video massager/conferencing. Hint Hint But I want my PSP to do as many things as possible. That is why I support this Camera. Despite its 1.3 mpixl quality it adds quite a handy device to an already kick ass firmware. I will get the GPS and Wireless Keyboard next. ***** Sony, I am going with home brew hardware, I just can’t wait 2 years for cool devices like a keyboard. Thanks for the keyboard noobz! Psilocine
And Phil is a noob for getting your hopes up because it's a fake PSP phone service where the only thing the psp really does is make the call but does nothing by way of voice ommunications. Forget you even read that he wrote about it. It sucked so hard I even forgot about the web site that tricked us all into visiting and signing up.

mine is the jap version, you can record videos non-stop as long as you still have space on your memory stick or your battery charge dies, whichever comes first hehe. also works on 3.03OE_c and newer firmwares.
This is out in the UK already. I've seen it in woolworths. And it's only 40, not 50.
i think this works fine with any PSP version. we have a chotto shot here in the office and it works with japanese, USA, and asian PSPs.
What's ironic is that you can upload the vids onto YOUTUBE, but you CAN'T WATCH them using your PSP! SUCKS!
Either that or this new one. I got mine over a month ago, and the video quality, if there's decent lighting, is pretty damned good for 1.3 megapixels. Daylight video is perfect. Nighttime, it suffers a lot. The audio can get choppy if there's wind, too. 7/10 for a camera, but 10/10 for a PSP accessory. Just one evening of taking retarded videos with your PSP is worth it. Think of it; that's one bartab or bag of weed.

Why does Japan and Europe ALWAYS get the better deal?! Both countries get the BETTER products, FIRST. Why don't Americans get the Camoflauge MPO PSP?? and why can't I use the GPS Receiver to recruit comrades? Oh well...atleast we Americana have rights..:P
I have the Japanese chotto camera... Let's just say I've been very surprised by it!! The macro function works really well, and the default photo "modes" are cool. I love the "toy camera" mode. It looks really cool. The videos are pretty good too. Better than my 8 megapixel digital camera!!! hahaha And, it's tiny. If you can fit your psp in your bag, you can fit this camera. Overall, I'd give it a 10/10 for coolness. Also, having Japanese people whispering "kakoii" and "sugoi" behind my back whenever I whip it out (the camera that is) at a temple or somewhere is pretty funny. GET IT!!!

For the people who think that the quality of the chotto shot sucks, i took the liberty of uploading a video so that you guys can see that it is pretty amazing. 1.3 is just a number and you will agree after you have seen this video. http://rapidshare.com/files/32075285/MOV00085.AVI.html No youtube so no quality loss. This video is totaly uneddited. Btw my sister has a samsung with a 3.2mp camera and it sucks in comparison with the Chotto Shot. oh and whatever we're talking about its just cr*p, its just to watch the quality. :P
